A Evaluation of the Subjective Responses on Image of Night Streetscape

As one of the important metropolitan cities in Asia, Seoul shows vibrant atmosphere in the night as well as daytime. Colorful signboards and outdoor lightings are consists of major night elements. In this research, nightscapes of four major streets in Seoul are photographed to analyze the image of Seoul at night. After preparing of slides, questionnaire survey is conducted to study people's subjective responses on the images of streets at night. After survey, SPSS 10.0 statistical program was used to analyze the results of subjective responses on the nightscapes in Seoul. According to the result, night streetscape 4(showing and business district)shows vibrant and interesting image. Meanwhile, streetscape 1(high-rise with exterior lighting in showing district)shows beautiful and harmonious image. Major factor's are named as 'harmonious' and 'vibrant'. Variable 'arranged' shows the highest coefficient to the variable 'harmonious'. Every variables except the variable 'warm' shows significant difference among the mean values of each variables.
Infrared Temperature Monitoring System based CAN for USN

RWe have developed an infrared temperature monitoring system to measure the temperature of hot iron plate in very harsh environmental conditions as iron making equipment. We performed extensive field test for 3 months at the front side of iron plate rolling process of POSCO in Gwang-Yang. From the experimental test, we have confirmed the reliability of the developed system. We adjust the curve fit method to solve the non-linearity equations of A2TPMI sensor, and establish the under
precision ratio and 25[msec] process speed each range. As experimental, we have confirmed the reliability of an infrared temperature monitoring system as POSCO test result and CAN network traffic monitoring of polling method.
Effect of Glazing Systems on Chromaticity and Color Temperature in the Office Room

One basic function of glazing system has always been the maintenance of visual contact with the natural environment-a fundamentally ecological function. In addition, penetration light through glazing system have an effect on variable atmosphere of interior. In this study, a typical office space was selected as a evaluation model and a 1/10 scale model was made. The conventional window, differentiated window and interior lightshelf were designed to enhance daylighting performance. The chromaticity and color temperature of interior space was measured using Prometric 1421. The result showed that transmittance by wavelength range of the glazing had an effect on chromaticity and color temperature. Also, color temperature of indoor environment were increased by
using differentiated window and interior lightshelf. Accordingly, it is thought that the use of a daylighting system will create activate indoor atmosphere.
The Analysis and Experimental Investigation of the Diagnosis of Rotor Faults for the Squirrel Cage Induction Motor

The rotor faults of induction motors may cause bad effects on the performance of the induction motor. This paper proposes the detecting technique of these faults by analyzing the waveform of the induced current and voltage of search coil using numerical analysis and the experiment. Several defective rotor bars are simulated to analyze the fault conditions-broken bars and high resistance of rotor bars. In order to prove the usefulness of the proposed method, we made an prototype experimental apparatus. The waveform of the induced voltages in search coil has the obvious characteristics and it is easy to differentiate the normal rotor from the abnormal one. The experimental results show that the proposed method is useful to detect the rotor fault conditions.
Characteristic Analysis of Inductive Power Transfer System for PRT

In this paper, the inductive power collector using electromagnetic induction for vehicle such as the PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) system is suggested and son ideas for power collector design to improve tile power transfer performance are presented. And also, the analysis of the inductive power transfer system in conjunction with series resonant converter operating variable high frequency is shown. Of particular interest is the sensitivity of the complete system to variations in operational frequency and parameters. In inductive power transfer system electrical power is transferred from a primary winding in the form of a coil or tract to one or more isolated pick-up coils that my relative to the primary. The ability to transmit power without contact enables high reliability and easy maintenance that allows inductive power transfer system to be implemented in hostile environments. This technology has found application in many fields such as electric vehicles, PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) etc. But, low output power is generated due to a loosely coupled characteristic of the large air-gap. Therefore, we will show you various characteristic of inductive power transfer system as double layer construction of secondary winding, which was divided in half to increase both output current and output voltage, a model of power collector and parallel winding structure, a model of concentration/ decentralization winding and the effects of parameter and operational frequency variation.
Characteristics Analysis of Soft Switching PWM Converter Using a New Active Snubber

This paper proposes converter that new soft switching active snubber circuit is added, the resonance energy return to life rate doing maximum whole efficiency increase. Proposed converter adds auxiliary switch and resonance inductor, resonance capacitor, two diodes to existing converter, all switch elements play turn-on/turn-off under soft switching condition and minimized switching losses. Conduction loss department is that watch layer bringing back to life resonance energy by input perfectly. These result proved through simulation and an experiment.
A Study on the Harmonics Evaluation of Extra High Voltage Customers by Field Tests

A large steel industry which has nonlinear loads including electric arc furnaces is one of the extra high voltage customers. These nonlinear loads generate harmonic currents and create distortions on the sinusoidal voltage of the power system. Harmonic field measurements have shown that the harmonic contents of a waveform varies with time. A cumulative propablistic approach is the most commonly used method to solve time varying harmonics. In this paper the in varying harmonics of electric arc furnace loads are evaluated by international harmonic standards(IEC 61000-3-6, IEEE 519 and JIS C 61000-3-2).
A Characteristic Improvement for the Parallel Operation of Z-source Inverters

In this paper, a circulating current reduction approach for the parallel operation of fuelcell systems with Z-source inverters is investigated. The carrier phase shifted SPWM(Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation) is used as a modulation method since it has an advantage in reducing output current harmonics. However, when this technique is applied to the parallel operation of Z-source inverters, it additionally produces circulating currents. A coupled circulating current reactor is used to reduce circulating current generated by the parallel operation of Z-source inverters and to reduce output current harmonics. The proposed circulating current reduction approach using coupled circulating current reactors is verified through simulation and experiment.

The increasing use of power electronic equipment in distribution system has been the reason for the greater concern about a harmonic in recent time. Therefore, it is necessary for measurement and modelling to analyze a harmonic level and a transfer characteristic in distribution system. In this paper, the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) is selected to analyze harmonic characteristic of distribution system by IEC 61000-3-6. Harmonic voltage and orient were measured at the PCC of real distribution system Harmonic distribution, nonlinear load component and Total Harmonic Distortion(THD) were verified. The effective and accurate modelling of real distribution system were proved through a analysis of harmonic impedance, voltage and current under steady-state. Harmonic transfer characteristic were investigated through a analysis of harmonic voltage and current under harmonic current source.
Technique to Solve Problems Due to Load Increment in Maximum Efficiency Control of Stator Flux-Oriented Induction Motor Drive

Flux level is low in the maximum efficiency control of a stator flux-oriented control of induction motor under the light load. In this cast if the loaf torque is suddenly increased, torque component current is limited to the low level by torque-limit condition because of the low flux level. In this paper, a technique to solve the problem is proposed.
Faults Current Discrimination of Power System Using Wavelet Transform

Recently the subject of "wavelet analysis" has be drawn by both mathematical and engineering application fields such as Signal Processing, Compression/Decomposition, Wavelet-Neural Network, Statistics and etc. Even though its similar to Fourier analysis, wavelet is a versatile tool with much mathematical content and great potential for applications. Especially, wavelet transform uses localizable various mother wavelet functions in time-frequency domain. Therefore, wavelet transform has good time-analysis ability for high frequency component, and has good frequency-analysis ability for low frequency component. Using the discriminative ability is more easy method than other conventional techniques. In this paper, Morlet wavelet transform was applied to discriminate the kind of line fault by acquired data from real power transformation network. The experimental result presented that Morlet wavelet transform is easier, and more useful method than the Fast Fourier Transform(FFT).

This paper measures power quality of bus in case electric charges about customer are imposed by each bus, supposed that can calculate this cost. When reflected this in system planning, expected cost proposed following method through sample system. To calculate nodal cost operating condition of power equipment calculates nodal cost[$/MVAH] supposing by situation that is optimized by OPF(optimal power flow) in system. The damage cost that is shed by fault that happen during year of loads in system that is linked on each bus was produced. As a result, proposed method was very effective in case of calculating bus total cost including power quality cost.

Domestic elevator accidents which are related to human life such as death are occurring steadily. This research measured and analyzed for the quality of power source which has possibility to be associated with fault and malfunction of elevator equipment although it is not direct cause examination. In conclusion, we acquired the result that there is possibility that the quality of power source(Sag, Interruption, Harmonic, Electromagnetism emission waveform, Static electricity etc) has an effect on movement of elevator through examination of three elevator facility models and suggested measures for it. Accordingly, this research result will be used as data to suggest establishment of elevator examination regulations and KS regulations for domestic elevator industry and the least safety of household using elevator.
A Study on Excitation System for Synchronous Generator Using Two State Three Phase PWM AC/DC Converter

The terminal voltage of a synchronous generator is maintained by the field current control of excitation system. Generally AC/DC converter which is component of AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulator) system for excitation current control is connected to diode rectifier and DC/DC converter system. In the case of diode rectifier system of phase controlled converter as AC/DC converter have low power factor and harmonics of lower order in the line current. In this paper, two stage three phase PWM AC/DC converter is studied to solve these problems. The characteristics of a proposed converter reduces the harmonics and reactive power of the distribution line and has fast dynamic response in transient period using boost converter and current control mode buck converts. The proposed method is verified by the computer simulation and experimental results in prototype generation system.

The introduction of new renewable energy is going on increase with the second plan of the Korean Government "Technology Development, Utilization and Popularization of New Renewable Energy". In general, it is connected to the power system due to the nature of it's source characteristics but it's interconnection operation impacts on the power system planning and operation. The operation schemes of the existing power distribution system are based on the unidirectional power flow, but unidirectional power flow changes to bidirectional power flow due to the interconnection operation of new renewable energy. It degrade the existing protection coordination system and power quality of the power distribution system. Thus, the technical evaluation process of the interconnection of new renewable energy are necessary. In this paper, the characteristics of the existing automatic recloser and sectionalizer are reviewed and interconnection capacity evaluation method of the DR(distributed resources) in the existing automatic recloser-sectionalizer protective coordination system are proposed.
The Simplified Economic Evaluation of Extra-High Voltage Distribution System in the Large Apartment Complex

This paper is about the Extra-High voltage distribution system in the customer's area. The power loss in the distribution system in the customer's area is disregarded and rarely managed so far. But, economically, this loss is not small quality to ignore. So, in this paper, we calculate the power loss of the Extra-High voltage distribution system in the customer's area by changing the locations of power transformer and other power facilities to decrease power loss in decreased secondary line length. And we also show the payback time of the proposed Extra-High voltage distribution system in the customer's area by simplified calculations.
A Study on the Characteristics in Single-Phase Line-Start Permanent Magnet Moter

Electric motor efficient improvement from home appliance field is important to the effect reducing the energy consumption. But the electric motor design/analysis technology is still insufficient. Specially the electric motor design/analysis technology of satisfying characteristic of both the induction motor and the synchronous motor such as Line start permanent motor. Therefore the electric motor design/analysis technology is urgently demanded reliability. This paper proposes the sing1e-phase line-start permanent magnet motor to develop the motor it with be able to alternate the sing-phase induction motor it is a refrigerator compressor motor. The sing-phase induction motor is analyzed in the steady state. And we have a certification test to compare our single-phase line-start permanent magnet motor with the sing-phase induction motor. In order to improve the performance, the stator of the single-phase line-start permanent magnet motor is same as the stator of the sing-phase induction motor and changes the rotor form and has the permanent magnet. It used the Finite Element Method(FEM) which is widely used with electronic-magnetic field numerical analysis method.
The Online Protective Coordination Schemes of the Distribution Systems with Distributed Generation

Recently, there has been growing interest in distributed resources with high-energy efficiency due to the increasing energy consumption and environmental pollution problems. But an insertion of new distributed generation to existing power distribution systems can cause several problems such as voltage variations, harmonics, protective coordination, increasing fault current etc. In this paper, a new method of the fault location identification at the distribution system with distributed resources, which can be determined by the magnitude and direction of the fault current, is proposed. In addition, a new online protective coordination scheme of recloser-sectionalizer is proposed based on the proposed fault location identification method for distribution system with distributed resources.
