Study on Visibility of Road Lighting Source in Fog conditions

In this paper, It evaluated visibility about Metal Halide Lamp(MHL), High Pressure Sodium Lamp(HPS) and PLS(Plasma Lighting System) as Road lighting source in fog conditions. To evaluate visibility, it analyzed valuation of subjects about each light sources in special fog conditions. In result, it obtained that High Pressure Sodium Lamp has best visibility in photopic vision and PLS has best visibility in scotopic vision. This result is expected to help about select of Road lighting source.

The number of people over sixty five years old is steadily rising and the elderly housing we continuously increasing. Regarding such a trend this research has been focused to propose the methodology of lighting design for elderly people. For this purpose, we researched the basic theory of lighting design through literature review, first. In addition, measurement and analysis of the light environment and light plan in elderly housing has been carried out by case studies. And we organized lighting scenario by the daily life-pattern of the elderly, and than planned lighting interface to be easy to control.
Research of Optical Design Method for Prism Luminaire

We studied prism design method for actual light source that have bulk in order to accomplish particular intensity distribution. When we know incidence angle and try to send ray to given direction, numerical formula that yields prism vertical angle, and then vertical angles were calculated sequentially. After analyzing problem that supposing to point light source, supplemented this and derived applicable prism design method on bulk light source. The intensity distribution and efficiency that came out by each design results were compared and analyzed, we got improved results through supplemented design method.

Design methods of LED optic system includes point source assumption and imaginary focus approaches. However, these methods make significant error if the position of LED approachs that of optic system. This paper suggests a new design approach that LED is equally divided, light distribution of each division is predicted and confirmed through reverse tracing of light wave, and then each divided segment is separately designed, Using new design method, two kinds of example optic system were designed and light distribution and efficiency of the systems were evaluated.

In this paper, novel topology for fast response of various loads is proposed. The windup phenomenon appears and results in performance degradation when the PI controller output is saturated. A new anti-windup PI controller is proposed to improve the control performance of variable speed motor drives, and it is experimentally applied to the speed control of a hysteresis current-controlled SRM driven by an asymmetry bridge converter. The experimental results show that the speed response has much improved performance, such as small overshoot and fast settling time, over the conventional PI control.
A Study on the Harmonics Simulation of the High Speed Electric Train Loads by Field Tests

High speed electric trains have nonlinear loads including converters and inverters for the control synchronous motors. Harmonic field measurements have shown that the harmonic contents of a waveform varies with time. Direct application of the harmonic assessment to the snapshot measurements would result in ambiguous conclusions depending on which instant is sampled. A cumulative probablistic approach is the most commonly used method to solve time varying harmonics. Harmonic simulations are performed to evaluate the harmonic voltage and current distortions throughout the system. This paper provides an in depth analysis on harmonics field measurement of the high speed electric train loads, harmonics assessment by the international harmonic standards IEC 61000-3-6 and IEEE Std. 519-l992, and harmonics simulation using EDSA program for the case study.
ATPDraw Simulation for Transient Phenomena Analysis of Electrical Shock Underwater

This paper describes the analysis of transient phenomena on the point that a human body suffers an electrical shock. A couple of case studies were discussed by using an ATPDraw simulation tool. Two models for the case studies were constructed on the assumption that the electrical shock event takes place under water to simulate the severest condition ; the first model that the human body contacts with an energized part exposed to water ; the second model that both hands and feet simultaneously contact with the ground under water. After modeling, the transient phenomena for the models were analyzed by comparing the voltages and currents calculated at each part of the human body. As a result steep front kicks in voltage and current were observed as transient phenomena on the point that the human body contacts with the energized part exposed to water in the first model and the magnitudes of the kicks considerably increased. It was considered however, the effect of the kicks due to the commercial power source on the human body could be neglected because the product of the current through the body and the short duration is less than the safety limit. When both hands and feet simultaneously contact with the ground in the second model, the voltage generally decreased all over the body parts, while the current flowing through the chest abruptly increased. The duration of this current was very shot, as well, thus its effect on the electrical shock is considered insignificant. After all, it was confirmed through the simulation results that the electrical shock depends on the magnitude in voltage and the body impedance.
A Study on the LCC Type High Frequency DC/DC Converter for Contactless Power Supply System

This paper represents characteristics and design example of series loaded LCC type high frequency resonant DC-DC converter with variable parallel capacitor in the secondary side of inductive power transformer. In this converter, ZVS(zero voltage switching) technique is applied to reduce turn-off switching losses, and the applied converter used the PFM switching pattern to control output voltage. The operating characteristics of the proposed converter is analyzed using nomalized parameter such as switching frequency and load factor with varing the secondary parallel resonant capacitor. The results of analysis show the operating characteristics and design method of the proposed converter using characteristic values. And the proposed converter can be applied for the contactless power supply with linear transfer system such as dean room facilities of semiconductor and Flat Panel Display.

This paper presents the characteristics analysis and experiment of the electromagnetic pump using linear induction motor(LIM Pump) which can transfer the molten metals by the electromagnetic force. The characteristics of LIM Pump are analysed solving the magneto-hydro-dynamic(MHD) equation at various magnetic flux. The molten zinc is used in the experiment and the results we compared with the analysis.
A Study on the Electric Shock due to Submerged Power Source

This paper describes a risk assessment of electric shock based on a experiment which demonstrates a submerged commercial power source. For the experiment a water tank was made and an outlet was installed on an interior wall. After filling the tank with a conductive water solution, the electric potential was measured with the distance, the direction from the power source, the conductivity and the level of the water solution. As a result, the potential distribution due to the outlet energized and exposed to the water solution depends on the distance from the submerged power source, however, the direction from the power source, the conductivity and the level of the water solution seemed to scarcely affected on the electrical shock risk.
Recommended Practice for a Reasonable Design Demand Factor and Analysis of Power Consumption Characteristics by loads in Hospitals

It is increased electrical energy consumption with the development of intelligence society in hospitals and thus an energy conservation through efficient use of electricity became more important. This paper shows a reasonable design demand factor in hospitals, that was made by the systematic and statistical way considering actual conditions, such as investigated electric equipment capacity, peak power consumption, demand factor, etc., for 32 hospitals and 9 electrical design offices. In this dissertation, it is necessary to analyze the key features and general trend from the investigated data. It made an analysis of the feature parameters, such as average, standard deviation, median, maximum, minimun and thus it was carried the linear and nonlinear regression analysis.

This paper presents the design characteristics and strategies applied for steel-cored PMLSM(Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor) considering the running conditions. Particularly, optimal design consideration on steel-cored PMLSM for short reciprocating trajectory using dynamic capability and dynamic constraints has been performed. Furthermore, thermal aspects, detent force, and magnetic saturation in design of steel-cored PMLSM have been investigated.
Pattern Recognition of Hard Disk Defect Distribution Using Multi-Layer Perceptron Network

In the Hard Disk Drive(HDD) production, the detect pattern or defective HDD set is important information to diagnosis of defective HDD set. This paper proposes a pattern recognition neural network for the defect distribution of HDD. In this paper, 5 characteristics are determined for the classification to six standard defect pattern classes. A multi-layer perceptron is trained for the pattern classification the inputs of which are 5 characteristic values and the 6 outputs are the nodes of standard patterns. The experiment with proposed neural network shows satisfactory results.

This paper is about the energy efficiency calculation of the production facilities. In the paper-manufacturing industry, for example, the production facility needs much energy including electric and heat energy. So, in this paper, we chose a process in the model plant to calculate energy efficiency. To the Electric facilities, We calculated the energy efficiency of electric facilities by means of load factor and voltage unbalance of the motors. And to the heat energy, we calculated the heat energy efficiency by comparing necessary calorie and supplied calorie for the process. We performed all these energy efficiency calculations by using the measured data of a process in an operating plant.
Traffic Load-aware Reactive Routing Scheme in Wireless Mobile Ad hoc Network

The lack of load-balancing functionality in most existing ad hoc routing protocols often causes congestion resulting in bad performance and short lifetime of participating nodes. We present an auxiliary scheme for reactive routing protocols to discover an unloaded route, thereby decreasing possibility of congestion. The scheme allows an intermediate node to determine whether to be a relaying node for a newly constructed route autonomously based on the occupancy of its queue. Thus the scheme does not require network-wide load information. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme distributes traffic load well.

Recently, a fuel cell with low voltage and high current output characteristics is remarkable for new generation system. It needs both a DC-DC step-up converter and DC-AC inverter to be used in fuel cell generation system. Therefor, this paper, consists of an isolated DC-DC converter to boost the fuel cell voltage 380[VDC] and a PWM inverter with LC filter to convent the DC voltage to single-phase 220[VAC]. Expressly, The fuel cell system which it proposes DC-DC the efficient converter used PWM the phase transient control law and it depended to portion resonance ZVS switching, loss peek voltage and electric current of realization under make schedule, switching frequency anger and the switch reduction. And mind benevolence it sprouted 2 in stop circuit and it added and a direct current voltage and the electric current where the ingredient is reduced in load side ripple stable under make whom it will be able to supply. Besides the efficiency of 92[%]is obtained over the wide output voltage regulation ranges and load variations. Also, under make over together the result leads simulation and test, the propriety confirmation.
