Sensibility Evaluation on the Correlated Color Temperature in White LED Lighting

The aim of this study is to investigate the sensitivity evaluation of human beings in reacting to the correlated color temperature of the optical properties of white LED lighting. For the sake of this study, white light-emitting diode modules have been fabricated their correlated color temperature have been measured, test cabinets for the sensitivity evaluation have been constructed with the white LED modules, and their sensitivity reactions on the test cabinets have been evaluated and analyzed. The sensitivity reaction has been evaluated by the semantic differential method with 15 selected questions, and the reliability and the content validity of their lighting have been analyzed to 3 factors which foe the activity as the first factor, the stability as the second one, the potency as the third one, respectively. For the data analysis on the sensitivity reaction, the dependent variable is the score of the sensitivity evaluation and the independent one is the correlated color temperature of the test module. The global warming due to greenhouse gases is now the hottest issue all over the world. The world has been under
war since the Kyoto Protocol was opened for signature on December 11, 1997 in Kyoto, Japan. The Kyoto Protocol now covers more than 164 countries globally as of July 2006. Countries that ratify this protocol commit to reduce their
emissions, or engage in emissions trading. Korea is also expected to obey the Protocol starting in 2013, which will give a serious shock especially to the electric power industry. The power plants burning the fossil fuel produce more than 20 percent of national total
emission. This paper resents the calculation of the amount and cost of
emission w.r.t. generator MW output and its application to power system operation. The
emission function is derived using the input-output coefficients of the thermal power plants. The optimal power system operation considering
emission and its cost is demonstrated on a five-bus sample power system.
Navigation of Autonomous Mobile Robot using Fuzzy Neural Network

This paper proposes a hierarchically structured navigation algorithm for autonomous mobile robot under unknown environment based on fuzzy-neal network. The proposed algorithm consists of two basic layers as follows. The lower layer consists of two parts such as fuzzy algorithm for goal approach and fuzzy-neural algorithm for obstacle avoidance. The upper layer which is basically fuzzy algorithm adjusts the magnitude of the weighting factor depending on the environmental situation. The proposed algorithm provides an efficient method to escape local mimimum points as shown in the simulation result. Most simulation results show that this algorithm is very effective for autonomous mobile robots` traveling in unknown field.
The Recognition and Segmentation of the Road Surface State using Wavelet Image Processing

This study focus on segmentation process that classifies road surfaces into 5 different categories, dry, wet water, icy, and snowy surfaces by analyzing asphalt-paved road images taken in daylight. By using the polarization coefficients, the proportions of horizontally polarized components to vertically polarized components, regions with over 1.3 polarization coefficients are classified as wet surfaces. Except for wet surfaces, the decision process a lies time-frequency analysis to other parts by using the third order wavelet packet transform. In addition, by using the average frequency characteristics of dry and icy surfaces from image templates, decide which is closer to a test image, and finally identify dry and icy surfaces. It is confirmed that the reposed estimation and segmentation of recognition on various images. This can be interpreted as an indication that image-only mad surface condition supervision is probable.

This paper present the Three-Level converter using IM(Integrated Magnetics) method for high power application. In power conversion system, magnetic components are important devices used for energy storage, energy transfer, galvanic isolation and filtering. The proposed Three-Level converter is to reduce the number of magnetic components using transformer integrated with output inductor. This paper proposes reluctance model base on the magnetic analysis for the Three-Level converter. Also, the secondary rectification was discussed by a single core transformer winding. A protype featuring 540[V] input, 48[V] output, 40[kHz] switching frequency, and 3[kW] output power using IGBT.
Load Modeling Method Based on Radial Basis Function Networks Considering of Hormonic components

In this study, we developed RBFN(Radial Basis Function Networks) based load modeling method with harmonic components. The developed method considers harmonic information as well as fundamental frequency and voltage considered as essential factors in conventional method. Thus, the reposed method makes it possible to effectively estimate load characteristics in power lines with harmonics. RBFN has some advantage such as simple structure and rapid computation ability compared with multi-layer perceptorn which is extensively applied for load modeling. To verify the effectiveness, the proposed method has been intensively tested with various dataset acquired under the different frequency and voltage and compared it with conventional methods such as polynomial method, MLPN and RBFN with no harmonic components.

It is impossible to database(DB) the patterns of power cable events and cause analysis of faulted cable because the product liability(PL) law have been enforced in Korea, since 2002. In additions, simulation and pattern of power cable events are needed for DB system under accelerated deterioration. In this paper, we tested for resistance to cracking of cable below the 22.9[kV] class due to thermal stresses. This method of exam is following IEC 60811-3-1(Common test methods for insulating and sheathing materials of electric cables). From the results, The 22.9[kV] class A power cable was discolored on the surface and significantly reduced in the longitudinal direction. As the thermal weight properties of A power cable was definitely varied, we are able to guess the problem of manufacture. If the cable was defect by the manufacture, the victims would be able to claim for damage in the PL system.

In this papar, the flow meter system for pulverized coal is developed for the pulverizer-burner system of the boiler or the blast furnace. The sensor of the system a lied the capacitance with a pair of electrode on the outer wall of the electric insulator pipe. The circuit is designed for the measurement of the granule flow density combining as a measuring electrode and a reference. In order to measure granule-flow density, the calibration curve between the weight measured from loadcell and the voltage from the circuit is created. It is verified that the flow meter system has reliability and accuracy using on-line test.

When we design the grounding grid, dangerous voltage IEEE Std. 80 method has been commonly used in the domestic area. However there is not appropriative examination of ground design environment. So in this paper, we examined of IEEE Std. 80 touch voltage method`s marginal utility and we induced corrective factor for those problems by comparison between IEEE Std. 80 touch voltage value and simulation experimentation value. Moreover, Logistic model`s corrective factor we proved the maximum accidental error has reduced less than 10[%].

Inundation of substation and ground power equipment broke out every summer season in low-lying downtown and low-lying shore by localized heavy rain, typhoon and tidal wave. In case inundation excluding the exchanging cost of equipment, it occurs a great economic and social loss owing to recovery time and events of electric shock occur by inundation electrical facility. So we researched the installation situation of substation and power equipment and inundation loss at Flood Danger Area. And we analyzed refutation or law relating to the flood protection counterplan of US, England Australia. We present flood protection countermeasures by survey and analyzing the internal standard and his paper will be used to resent a reform proposal of electrical feinted law about flood protection.
Influence of Combustion Flame on Breakdown Characteristics of Vertical-Model Power Lines

Occurring forest fire or burning bushes beneath overhead transmission lines have caused breakdown disturbances of the system in many countries. In this study, experiments for flashover characteristics in the simulated condition of vertical power lines were conducted so as to investigate the reduction in insulation strength caused by combustion flame. As the results of an experimental investigation, it is demonstrated that flame can reduce breakdown voltages of the model lines according to height(h) of flame. Dynamic Voltage Scaling based on Workload of Application for Embedded Processor

Portable devices generally have limited energy sources, so there is a need to minimize the power consumption of processor using energy conservation methods. One of the most common energy conservation methods is dynamic voltage scaling (DVS). In this paper, we propose a new DVS algorithm which uses workload of application to determine frequency and voltage of processors. The posed DVS algorithm consists of DVS module in kernel and specified function in application. The DVS module monitors the processor utilization and changes frequency and voltage periodically. The other part monitors workload of application. With these two procedures, the processor can change the performance level to meet their deadline while consuming less energy. We implemented the proposed DVS algorithm on PXA270 processor with Linux 2.6 kernel.
A Study on the Hormonic Characteristics of Typical Household Loads by Field Measurements

Typical household load have nonlinear loads including a personal computer, video, refrigerator, microwave oven, TV, and audio set. These nonlinear loads generate harmonic currents and create distortions on the sinusoidal voltage of the power system. Harmonic field measurements have shown that the harmonic contents of a waveform varies with time. A cumulative probablistic approach is the most commonly used method to solve time varying harmonics. This paper provides in depth analysis on harmonics field measurement of the typical household loads and harmonics simulation using EDSA program for the case study.

We investigated the electro-optical characteristics of an ICP(Inductively Coupled Plasma) light source depending on driving temperature, and length of discharge tube. An electro-optical stability of a sample at operating was measured to see a steady state of a sample. This paper deals with the design of BLDC motor replacing ferrite magnet with rare earth magnet. Electric machinery system using ferrite magnet motor is already widespread in large numbers. Electrical appliance makers have a tendency to adhere to existing system using ferrite magnet motors because of redesigning the whole system. This paper designs the rare earth magnet motor untouching the external system dimension and motor outer size. To do the design simply, finite element package is used iteratively To reduce the cogging torque effect and magnetic saturation, stator yoke shape and the groove of the end face of yoke are redesigned.

The tendency of lightning surge to propagate is a eared variously depend on the power system and subject equipment of protection. However, looking into the subject equipment with the lightning surge, the invasion route of lightning surge can be divided in between the two lines of power, between the power line and the ground, the power line and the PE conductor, between the neutral line and the ground and the like. In addition, in the event of the communication equipment, there exists the route of lightning surge incoming from between the communication lines, the communication line and the ground in addition to the power lines. In this study, the tendency of propagation of lightning surge penetrated on to the subject equipment is analyzed through the empirical experiment in accordance with the ground method by using the independent ground, common ground and bypass arrester ground for safety improvement in power lines.
A Refurbishment life Diagnosis for Overhead Transmission Conductors using Dip Measurement

Conductors in overhead transmission lines are exposed under various environmental conditions for a long period of time, so that they may be slowly degraded due to air pollutant or thermal history. Aged conductors may reduce power system reliability and public safety. Therefore, diagnosis of aged conductors in service becomes more important concerns with respect to keeping power delivery stable with a proper capability, replacing aged conductors, or constructing a new line. In this paper, we posed a new method to diagnose the refurbishment life and estimate the remaining life of aged conductors by measuring dips. As analyzing some relations of conductor temperature, conductor current, and tension load, it could be verified that dip exactly shows mechanical tension loss for aged conductor. Based on several simulation results, it was shown that the proposed method may be effectively used to diagnose the refurbishment life or remaining one of overhead conductors.
The Ultraviolet Generation Characteristics of porcelain and Polymer Insulators by Corona Discharge

This paper describes the breakdown poperties of porcelain and polymer insulators using the UV camera. The experiment was carried out using condition of voltage at the KS C IEC 60060-1(2006). As these results, corona discharge in porcelain insulator was generated the weakness point of insulator union. And the corona discharge of polymer insulator happened in union of power source. Also, we could confirm easily weakness part of these insulators by ultraviolet image through the corona discharge. Besides, in the comparison with the exciting technique of ultrasonic detection, it confirmed that deterioration steps are corrected. These steps are possible to judge the deterioration of power facilities through reliable date. Hereafter, this study as the diagnostic technology suitable for the sites is used.
An Efficient Function of Self Test in PLC Control Designed by SFC

When we design the control system used Programmable Logic Controller(PLC), we program the main algorithm by Ladder Diagram(LD) in many standard language. But if we use an Sequential Function Chart(SFC), we is easy to know the sequential flow of control, to maintenance the controller and to describe a program. Even though a SFC have many merits, A SFC have some problems like a condition and a function of self test. Therefore this thesis show an efficient function of self test and we confirmed its feasibility through actual example.
Signal Analysis of Eddy Current Test Using T/R Coil Probe for Inspection of Steam Generator Tube in NPP

In this paper the signal analysis of eddy current test using transmit-receive(T/R) pancake coil of ECT array probe using electromagnetic finite element method(FEM) is performed. For characteristics analysis, the notch defect is used. The depth of defect is 40[%] of steam generator tube thickness, and inside defect and outside defect are used as simulation examples. The signal analysis is performed according to the variation of receive coil position. The receive coil is positioned
of circumferential position of transmit coil. To obtain e electromagnetic characteristics of robes, the governing equation is derived from Maxwell`s equations, and the problem is solved using the 3-dimensional finite element method. The signal magnitude of inside defect is bigger than that of outside defect, and the signal difference can be seen according to the variation of position of receive coil. The experimental signal and numerical signal of ASME standard tube show similar results. The results in this paper can be helpful when the ECT signals from ECT array probe are evaluated and analyzed.
Design of on Automotive HID Ballast using Variable Frequency Switching Flyback Converter

This paper presents high efficiency control system of automotive 35W electronic ballast for high intensity discharge(HID) lamp using switching flyback converter with variable frequency. Considering performance, size and efficiency of ballast, the flyback converter is designed with planar transformer in converter stage. HID lamp demands a highly efficient ballast and very complex control circuitry that can control complex transient state for applying to automotive. The proposed electronic ballast system is composed of a flyback converter using planar transformer, a full bridge inverter, and a step up igniter. In this system, switching frequency of flyback converter is controlled by varying input voltage of HID ballast and the price and the size of HID ballast using planar transformer can be reduced. The performance and efficiency of the posed system are verified through various the experiment results.
