Protection Circuit Design of Electronic Ballcst for MHD Lamps

In this paper describes the process of designing a protection circuit against an open or short electronic ballast. An open electronic ballast creates high voltages in a regular period, which a lies voltage stress on switching devices. On the other hand, a shorted output generates excessive current, causing problems such as heat generation in the ballast and reduced lifespan of semiconductor devices. This study proposes a protection circuit consisting of TTL and passive devices to resolve the problems. The proposed protection circuit offers the benefits of low cost and high reliability. The proposed circuit was connected to an actual ballast to demonstrate its applicability.
Analysis on the Discharge Characteristics of New Cell Structure for Luminous Efficacy Improvement in an AC Plasma Display Panel

Through two-dimensional numerical simulations, we analyzed the effects of new cell structure for the luminous efficacy improvement in an ac plasma display panel. In the new structure with 5 electrodes, two auxiliary electrodes are arranged between X and Y electrodes with long gap. Through the application of adequate auxiliary pulse on the address electrode, the luminous efficacy in the new cell structure showed the improvement of 52[%] in comparison with that of conventional cell structure with short gap between X and Y electrodes. Consequently, as the short gap discharge between auxiliary electrodes decreases and the long gap discharge between X and Y electrodes increases, the result of VUV generation efficacy shows higher improvement. The reliability of simulation result could he confirmed by the experimental result in the test panel.

This paper presents a new full-bridge soft switching PWM DC-DC converter circuit topology that adding one switcher, one lossless snubber quasi-resonance capacity to power source for general welding machine This full-bridge soft switching DC-DC convoter· topology can applicable 600[V] switching device (IGBT)incase of AC 400[V] common power source because the voltage of active switcher is 1/2 of DC bus line voltage. And low voltage hight current out)ut that first coil current is smaller than second coil current in high frequency transformer can be obtained with decreasing path loss in conventional DC bus line switcher. As it operate ZCS/ZVS in full range, high frequency, high efficiency and high output are implemented at low voltage and high DC current switching power supplies. All of this items are got from simulation and the result of experiment. If make up for the weak points of this proposed circuit, it will be used more easily for next generation TIG, MIG and MAG type of arc-welding machine.
The Discontinuous Conduction Mode(DCM) Modeling of DC/DC Converter and Critical Characteristic using Average Model of Switch

The state-space average model is extended to buck-boost, and buck-boost topology switching mode DC/DC converters and modified to have higher precision without increment of computation. The modified model is used in continuous conduction mode(CCM) switching DC/DC converters and some significant conclusions are derived. This paper discusses the discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) modeling of DC/DC converter and critical characteristic using average model of switch. Average model of switch approach is expended to the modeling of boundary conduction mode DC/DC converters that operate at the boundary between continuous conduction mode(CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode(DCM). Frequency responses predicted by the average model of switch are verified by simulation and experiment. A prototype featuring 15[V] input voltage, 24[V] output voltage, and 24[W] output power using MOSFET.
A Study on Characteristics for a Contract Power Conversion Factor and Analysis of a Maximum Utilization Factor of Transformer in Industrial Customers

Contract power conversion factor which is applied to estimate contract power of industrial customers is an important standard to caculate transformer capacity. This paper shows a reasonable contract power conversion factor, that was made by the systematic and statistical way considering actual conditions, such as investigated contact power and peak power for the last 5 years of each customer for 349 industrial customers as to AMR. In this dissertation, it is necessary to analyze the key features and general trend from the investigated data. It made an analysis of the feature parameters, such as average, standard deviation, median, maximum, minimun and thus it was carried by the linear and nonlinear regression analysis. Therefore, this paper compared characteristics for a contract power conversion factor which is a lied to calculate contract power with characteristics for a regression model for customers which maximum utilization factor of transformer is more than 60(%).

The ANSI/IEEE Std. 80-2000 method has been commonly used to design grounding system for the South Korea domestic market. However, the appropriateness of this method to the ground design environment has not yet been examined. This paper presents a new design grounding system method that complements the ANSI/IEEE Std. 80-2000 method, when the new method is a lied to thickness, dangerous voltage, and grid spaced computations for grounding conductors. Furthermore, this paper examines reliability and economic efficiency issues by comparing of the ANSI/IEEE Std. 80-2000 Annex B`s case study with the original method.

In this paper, an automatic escalator system is manufactured for concentrate lighting efficiency and maintenance improvement technology of street light used a solar condenser. It can be linked with street light used a solar condenser, improved concentrate lighting efficiency by regulating concentrate light angle of a solar condenser. It can be remove and attach to solar condenser and street light. By developing street light used a solar condenser with an automatic escalator system, the lighting efficiency of street light and the concentrate lighting efficiency of solar condenser are High. The maintenance fee of street light significantly reduce and traffic congestion during working hours of street light is prevent.
A Study on the Simulation Model of PV Generation System for its Application to Real Power System

This paper deals with the simulation modeling of PV generation system for its application to utility distribution network PSCAD/EMIDC simulation model is developed for use in studying the effect of the PV generation to the distribution system. Simulation results show that the addition of the PV system improves the voltage profile of the area by decreasing the power flow from the utility substation. Case studies also show that power quality at the load side is also improved via voltage compensation at the load bus.

In this study electromagnetic fields near electric power lines were derived by dipole antenna theory and electromagnetic fields near 3 phase power lines with vertical configurations were formulated and could be computed easily using these formula. It seems that those formula could be applicable to the consideration of electromagnetic fields during the design of transmission and distribution lines. A Novel PV Tracking System Control Considering the Power Loss with Change of Insolation

In this paper proposes a novel tacking algorithm regarding the power loss when operating a tracking system for a rapidly changing insolation to improve the power of PV hacking system. The tracking system of sensor method used in a conventional PV power station is unable to exactly track a sun position when lacking in the intensity of radiation and has the problem is malfunction of tracking system by a rapidly changing climatic. The tracking system of program method spends too much energy on the unnecessary operation of tracking system because that is unable to adapt itself to a outside factor of climatic environment. In case of tracking an azimuth and altitude of the sun in realtime, therefore, the actual PV power is less increasing than the power of tracking system fixed a specific position. To reduce the power loss, this pap proposes a novel control algorithm of the tracking system. Also, this paper is analyzed efficiency of traditional solar tracking method and proposed method, prove validity of proposed algorithm through demonstrable study.
An Analysis Method for the Transient Ground Impedance Using Variable Frequency and Lightning Impulse Current

The transient ground impedance depending on configuration, size, and material of grounding electrodes as well as the shapes of impulse currents, has a significant affect on the performance of the grounding system. This paper presents experimental results in regard to the analysis method of transient ground impedance using the lightning impulse and variable frequency currents. Also a new estimation method to replace the effective surge impedance for transient ground impedance was proposed. The ground electrodes used in this experiment are virtual ground electrodes including both resistance and inductance components, carbon ground electrode with 1[m] length, copper electrode with 9[m] length and counterpoise with 40[m] length. Ground impedances using the proposed method were measured respectively. Comparing with the ground impedance using variable frequency current the conventional ground impedance(
) calculated from the peak values of impulse voltage and impulse current is observed more correct method for evaluating the performance of ground electrode than the effective surge impedance.
A Study on Interpolated Step Response Model of Dynamic Matrix Control(DMC) for a Boiler-Turbine System of Fossil Power Plant

This paper proposes an adaptive Dynamic Matrix Control (DMC) and its application to boiler-turbine system In a conventional DMC, object system is described as a Step Response Model (SRM). However, a nonlinear system is not effectively described as a single SRM. In this paper, nine SRMs at various operating points are prepared. On-line interpolation is performed at every sampling step to find the suitable SRM. Therefore, the proposed adaptive DMC can consider the nonlinearity of boiler-turbine system. The simulation results show satisfactory results with a wide range operation of the boiler-turbine system.

This paper describes the Dual-band WLAN transmitter with 2.4[GHz], 5[GHz]. Dual-band WLAN transmitter was designed at 2.4[GHz] and 5[GHz]. The Dual-band WLAN transmitter has a amplifier which operate at 2.4[GHz] and 5[GHz] frequency and two VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) or VCO has a wide scope of frequency. these problem cause a size and a power consumption, The Dual-band WLAN transmitter module was proposed to solve these. the transmitter was designed to get output signals of IEEE 802.11a`s 5.8[GHz] band signal using frequency multiplication way or to act a amplifier about the 2.4[GHz] band signal of IEEE 802.11b/g, according to inputed frequency and bias voltage that a eve using single transmission block. The output spectrum get the improved specification of ACPR of 4[dB], 6[dB], 16[dB] at +11[MHz], +20[MHz], +30[MHz] offset of center frequency compared to no linearization, was satisfied to transmit spectrum mask of IEEE 802.11a wireless Lan.

This paper presents the battery management system(BMS) for the optimum conditions of the lead-Acid battery in UPS. The proposed system control the currents and voltages of battery for optimum conditions to estimate the State Of Charge(SOC) in charge or discharge mode. It proved the performance and the algorithm for the estimation of SOC, through the experiments which using the charge and discharge tester and the field tests.

A switch in congestion management nile in an electricity market may have positive or negative impact on the surplus of a market participant. As a number of wholesale electricity markets around the world either have already adopted or plan to implement Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP) for energy and congestion management, it is necessary to study the economic impact of a change in congestion management in the Korean electricity market. However, the impact of congestion management on consumer costs and generator surplus has not been studied for the electricity market in Korea. This paper examines how a change in congestion management affects consumer costs and generator surplus in the Korean electricity market.

This paper describes the design of frequency down converting Mixer in the receiver to use compound semiconductor and CMOS product process. The basic theory and structure of frequency down converting Mixer is surveyed, and we design mixer circuit with active balun which use the compound semiconductor and CMOS process. This mixer convert a single ended signal to differential signal at input port of RF and LO instead of matching circuit to get dual band balanced mixer structure and characteristic broadband. This designed mixer has a conversion gain
bandwidths. However, the simulation of the designed mixer with active balun has the result of a 7[dB] conversion gain for -2[dBm] LO input power and -10[dBm] input P1[dB] at 5.8[GHz].
A Study on the Control Algorithm for the 300[mm] Wafer Edge Exposure of ArF Type using A Linear CCD Sensor

This study presents a process control of the wafer edge exposure (WEE) used in 300[mm] wafer environment. WEE, as a key module of the overall track system (coater and developer) for making patterns on wafer, is a system to expose the UV-ray on the wafer to remove a photo resist around edge of the wafer. It can measure, memorize and control the distance and angles from wafer center to edge. Recently in the 300[mm] semiconductor fabrication, the track system strongly requires that WEE station has a controller with high throughput and accuracy to increase process efficiency. We have designed and developed the controller, and present here a WEE control algorithm and experimental results.
