Study on Analysis of Characteristics of Illuminance and Luminance Distribution of LED Luminaires

This study is intended to compare physical properties of fluorescent luminaires with ones of LED luminaires so as to analyze fundamental characteristics of LED luminaires. For this, a comparative analysis of uniformity ratio of illuminance and luminance distribution of these two luminaires was made, and materials for applying LED luminaires to interior construction space were prepared. This study was carried out in four stages. First, a theoretical review on LED illumination light source was made compared with the existing luminaires. Second, a mock-up to control experimental variables to meet the objective of this study was manufactured. Third uniformity ratio of illuminance and luminance distribution of each luminaire were measured by using the mock-up. Fourth, a comparative analysis of uniformity ratio of illuminance and characteristics of luminance distribution of the existing fluorescent luminaires and LED ones was made. As a result of the study, the uniformity ratio of illuminance of LED luminaires, 0.559, was higher than one of the existing fluorescent luminaires, 0.522. Namely, it was shown that illuminance distribution of LED luminaires was uniform and global diffuse was good. As a result of measuring luminance distribution, it was found that luminance distribution of LED luminaires was more uniform than one of the existing fluorescent luminaires. . Like this, the average luminance of LED luminaires was higher than one of fluorescent luminaires. Considering these results, it's thought that LED luminaires can give a person in the room a more comfortable working environment than fluorescent luminaires.

We studied drivers sight and physical status change by setup type of road lighting system. Influences on drivers emotional and motional change of lighting condition was investigated and function of road lighting setup position at night was analysed. Specially we analyzed influences of line type low hight lighting have influence on driver sight.

Recently, the importance of supplying the reliable electric power is increasing. therefore, the importance of diagnosis of power equipments is increasing also. Breaking insulation of stator windings is major cause of faults in high voltage generators. On-line PD (Partial Discharge) detection using Capacitive Coupler at stator windings is used widely to diagnose high voltage generator. However, precise PD(Partial Discharge) detection is impossible if detected signals are mixed with PD and noise signal. In this paper, we analyze detected signals using Capacitive Coupler at 13[kV] hydroelectric generator stator winding and suggest not hardware method but noise elimination algorithm for detecting PD of generator stator winding considering relation of periphery signals.
A Characteristic Study on the Power Factor Correction Application for Induction Motor

The field of induction motor is magnetized and demagnetized for each reversal of the current. This field component of the motor accounts for most of the reactive component of inductive load. Reactive power needs to sustain the electromagnetic field required for the induction motor to operate. Power factor of induction motor is usually low and power factor correction needs. Power factor becomes low by the effect of the reduction operation of load capacity. In most cases, Capacitor capacity for the power factor correction should be complied with the recommendation by the motor capacity. But Capacitor value for power factor correction can't change during the normal operation. In this paper, we analyzed characteristics of power and power factor changing by load fluctuation of low-voltage small size induction motor and show that lower power factor correction's parameter of existing recommendation should be revised by new value.
Analysis of Soil lonization Characteristics in Concentric Cylindrical Electrode System under Impulse Voltages

This paper presents the soil ionization phenomena and the parameters with the transient characteristics of model grounding system under lightning impulse voltages. lonization properties of dry and wet sands were investigated by using two test cells of concentric cylindrical electrode system with different dimensions. As a result non-linear electrical behavior of sand under high impulse voltage is caused by ionization process. The transient impedance of sand depends not only on the water content but also on the magnitude of applied impulse voltages. The grounding impedance is decreased with increasing the water content and the magnitude of a lied voltages. The results resented in this paper will provide useful information on the design of high performance grounding systems against lightning surge.
The Study on Facility Accident Case and PL Recognition of the Safety Manager in Electric Installation for Private Use

In this paper, we investigated electric safety manager's PL recognition and accident occurrence of electric power facilities in electric installation for private use. The target of questionnaire survey is 450 electric installations for private use, 154 responded the questionnaire among these and it occupied 35.8[%]. The questionnaire survey says that 58[%] of electric safety manager knew well about PL contents and 42[%] of them did not recognize its. 82.4[%] of them must applied PL law in electric installation, 5.8[%] of them did not need the PL law. Reason of PL application occupied 64[%] for stability of electrical facility and product, 19[%] for prevention of same accident. The accident of transformer occupied most and the power cable accident were much next. The questionnaire survey results, electric safety managers are interested in PL contents, they expected necessity of PL application about electrical accident strongly.
The Study on Magnetic Characteristics of 2 Phase SRM with Self-Starting Capability

Cost reduction requires lowering number of power devices used in the converter driving SRM. This is quite feasible in SRM drive systems than in other drive systems. This paper deals with analysis and simulation of a novel two phase SRM. A novel two phase SRM has high performance, self-starling capability, high efficiency, and low manufacturing cost. Additionally, the stator back iron does not experience any flux reversal as the flux is in the same direction whether phase A or B is excited leading to a greater reduction in core losses. The magnetic analysis and design considerations of the novel two phase SRM have been obtained by the finite element analysis (FEM).
A Research of Optimum Supply Reserve Levels for Stability of Power System

Because of the high increasing rate of load demand these days the necessity of deciding what optimum reserve level is appropriate to most stably supply electricity is being emphasized. This research studies the downward tendency of reserve ratio by analyzing the trend of change of the network scale, reserve, and reserve ratio while optimum reserve has been increased as the network system scale grow up. This means, at this moment 6,000[MW] is optimum level for short term prospect of power supply and demand. And also, it has been analyzed that, as the annual peak load exceeded 50,000[MW], confirming the amount of optimum reserve level is more stable than keeping 10 to 12[%] reserve ratio.
Changes in Electrical Properties of ZnO Surge Arresters According to Surrounding Conditions

This paper describes the electrical characteristics of ZnO surge arresters associated with the variation of surrounding conditions. To investigate the deterioration behaviors of ZnO surge arresters due to lightning surges, 8/20[
], 2.5[kA] impulse currents were injected to the ZnO surge arrester under test. The leakage currents of ZnO surge arrester subject to power frequency AC voltage were measured in different surrounding temperature and wet conditions. As a result, it was found that the leakage current is increased and its asymmetry is pronounced as the number of injection of the impulse current and the ambient temperature increase. Also, in the wet test the outside leakage current flowing through the housing surface of the ZnO surge arrester is much larger than the intrinsic leakage current of ZnO surge arrester element. The results obtained in this work can be a lied as factors of improving the reliability and performance of monitoring system for surge arresters.
A Study on Temperature Variation of Contact Wire by De-icing System

The frost and freezing on contact wire in winter is a very serious problem Shocks at the mechanical interface of the collecting strips of the pantograph and the contact wire. Extra electrical resistance, which may affect quality of current collection at the contact wire / collecting strips of pantograph interface. De-icing system is to melt frost or freezing in contact wire. The principle of do-icing system is to melt frost or ice by Joule heat of contact wire impedance. The temperature of the contact wire was increased with increasing the current. But temperature of contact wire was decreased with increasing the velocity of the wind.
A Reliability Enhancement Methodology of the IEC61850 based Substation Automation System

The effect of the fault could be propagated to healthy region when the fault on the power system is not cleared in time. In order to enhance reliability of the protective relay, a dual and/or backup system is adopted for the power system protection. The IEC61850 has become an international standard of the substation automation system for interoperability between heterogeneous IEDs from different vendors. This paper introduces a reliability enhancement technique for the substation automation system using characteristics of the IEC61850.
Optimal Location of Mail Distribution Center using Steiner Tree

Faster, safer and cheaper mailing of the postal matter is essential for surviving in the competitive market of home-delivery service. In the past, the domestic delivery business has been nu by only a few number of companies. But more and more number of companies including medium size ones are participating in the business, and the competition is getting severe. This paper proposes a method to select the optimal location of mail distribution centers that minimally connect the local mail centers of some major cities in Korea using the Steiner Tree theory, which is about connecting a finite number of points with a minimal length of paths and has been used in the distribution system optimization and optimal routing of the transmission lines of the electric power system. By using Steiner Tree theory in finding the best location of the postal delivery hub, we may expect the reduction of transportation cost and the increase of profit, resulting in acquiring the superior position in the competitive delivery business. It is expected that we may use the Steiner Tree theory in finding the best location of the electric power substation for the nott higher EHV(extreme high voltage) transmission network.
A Design of Filler Compensated PID Controller via Transfer Function Synthesis

This paper proposes a frequency transfer function synthesis of a later compensated PID controller for an approximated low order model. The proposed method identifies the parameter vector of PID controller from a linear system that is formed by rearranging a loop frequency transfer function synthesis including the filter compensated PID controller obtained from the given frequency response bounds. And an example for the turbine speed control system of Chungju hydropower plant is given to illustrate the feasibilities of suggested schemes.

Capacitor switching is essential for the economic operation and proper voltage control of KOREA electric utility distribution system. Voltage transients produced by capacitor switching (around 2.0 per unit at substation and 2.5 or less per unit at customer site, and lasting less then 1[ms]) do not have the magnitude or duration to interfere with the operation of computers, but they do disrupt the operation of adjustable speed drivers. The result of our research, ASD manufacturers should learn from the computer industry and design products that will operate satisfactory In the electrical envelopment in which they will be placed. In this case history, the inductors on the input to ADSs in order to prevent nuisance tripping from capacitor switching(and other causes within the apartment) proved to be an effective, low-cost solution.
A Risk Assessment in According to Spot Measures and Analysis in Dust Generation Area

In terms of electrical safety, environmental impact assessment and revision of domestic regulation are needed for the electric facilities. In this paper, risk of electric facilities is assessed by the spot measures and analysis in dust generation area. Adhesion dust in a surface of insulated materials cause electrical accidents. In a mechanism of these accidents, when the dust lie on electric facilities, a leakage current is flowed and the surface of insulated material is carbonized. Hereafter, electrical fire is generated due to Joule's heat. As the results, dusts are found in protection devices or panel board and sampled dusts vary in sampled amounts and conductivity severally. For the most part, sodium is detected but zinc and calcium are detected in case of reclaimed rubber factory by the ICP-AES(Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectroscopy). In a sewerage, the ingredients such as sodium, magnesium, iron, calcium, aluminium, etc are detected uniformly. So that, results of the spot measures and analysis of dusts are become the important data for the assessment of electrical hazard in dust generation area.
A Study on the Reverse-Power-Flow Phenomenon due to Transformer Wiring Types in Distribution System

As the penetration of distributed generation systems is recently high, there have been metering errors, trips of protective devices in KEPCO distribution systems including an occurrence of false fault-indicator in distribution automation system. The cause of malfunctions was the reverse-power-flow phenomenon due to transformer wiring types. By the effect of the reverse-power-flow, each of phase's fundamental currents was added by about 3 times on the neutral line. A new method based on the analysis of the reverse-power-flow is proposed in this paper. Fault currents on each section were analyzed by the proposed method, and the effect of types of transformer wiring was examined experimentally. In order to reduce the malfunctions due to the reverse-power-flow, controlling the zero-sequence impedance of transformer was designed and verified by using PSCAD/EMTDC software.
