The Study for Development of Landscape Lighting Lamp using LED for Underwater Dam

Recently, the demand of landscape lighting for underwater dam is rapidly increased by expansion of hydrophilic space. But it occurred the problems such as weakness of safety and display effect of underwater dam lighting lamp currently in use. Therefore, for solving these problems and improving underwater dam lighting lamp, this paper is focused on safety, energy saving, display flexibility of underwater dam lighting lamp and analyzed the related deriving problems by research on the actual condition. As a result, it presents a developed LED mold type underwater light instead of underwater dam lighting lamp. By the results of this research, it is considered that practical use of underwater dam lighting is very useful in waterside space for dams, water fountain, swimming pool, and etc. Moreover, it can be extended/applied in various ways.
Actual Conditions on the Illumination Environment of the Elderly House

This research surveys actual conditions in order to examine the lighting environments of the elderly`s residential 50 households. The results is as following. First, The elderly indicated that they felt the living room and the kitchen are usual degree, dark only in bedrooms and rest rooms of brightness. And about satisfactory degree of residential illumination is being above of usual Satisfaction. Second, Problems of lighting environments of elderly`s houses were brightness and management, when lighting environmental reconstruct, considered brightness and equipment superannuation, and they want the focus on brightness in the reconstruction. Third. Operating method of lighting was used almost overall lighting in bedroom and bathroom, overall lighting and part lighting are used together in kitchens. The living room has a lot of cases which uses only a general illumination, but the cases which overall lighting and part lighting are used together has occupied 40[%]. Fourth, An average Illuminance of the bedroom is 104.17[lx], an average unifonnity ratio is 60.22[%]. The livingroom`s average is 116.15[lx], 51.48[%]. The sink`s average is 236.40[lx], the table average is 160.73[lx] in the kitchen. The washstand`s average is 109.81[lx], the chamber`s average pot is 74.33[lx] in the bathroom. These results are generally darker than the standard.
A Study on the Improvement of Classifying Method of the Sky Conditions for Application of the Daylight at Indoor - The Comparison with Cloud Amount and Measured Solar Horizontal Irradiation in Seoul -

Sky cover method can be used to determine sky condition by cloud amount of the Korea Meteorological Administration. And, HCI (Hourly Clearness Index) method is another method determined by measured horizontal global radiation data. The results of the HCI methods of Erbs et al. (1982), Orgill and Hollands (1977) seem to be not good enough because of the air pollution such as smog phenomenon or yellow sand phenomenon and so on. Therefore, HCI should be corrected. The aim of this study is to improve HCI. Therefore, this study is to analyze and compare on the sky conditions from Sky cover method and HCI, and then presents hourly correction factor based on Sky 채팩 method. The results of corrected HCI improved.
A Study on Digital Control Method of LED Luminance

The pulse width modulation(PWM) method has been generally used as conventional method controlling luminance of LED(light emitting diode). PWM method as analog method with a relation that duty ratio of LED be proportional to luminance has weak point that it is not compatible with digital method of communication etc. In this paper, a experiment is conducted which the luminance of RGB LED be controlled by digital method. For this, the LED digital control system is developed which consist of LED driving circuits and digital logic circuits. By controlling the number of pluses on RGB LED versus digital input, various lighting colors is implemented and digital codes are optimized in order that measured x, y chromaticity coordinates of lighting colors are comprised in the CIE chromaticity coordinates area of targeted lighting colors. The result of this study can be utilized usefully in research on implementing full color by using remote control of LED lamp with digital communication.
A Study on the Comparison of the Illuminance Values from Daylight Simulation and Mock-up Experiment for Suitable Application of Lighting Simulation

Available daylight in inside offers comfortable view environment, and psychological and physical advantages to people in a room. Architectural design has a need for daylight prediction. But it is difficult to predict the illuminance values in daylight system. Using various Daylight simulation software is easy and simple, but we can find different results under the same conditions. This study compares with illuminance values from simulation (Lightscape 3.2, Relux 2007, Radiance 3.9) and Mock-up experiment with a same space and parameter of daylight (location of space and window, date, time and sky condition).
A Study on the Characteristics of the Media Facade Buildings

Recently a number of media facade buildings making beautiful cityscape landmark has been increased in Seoul. However, indiscreet adaptation of media facade cause problems such as light pollution and poor city image. This paper was to investigate luminous characteristics of media facade building. Five representative media facade buildings in Seoul have been selected. The CS-100 and ProMetric-1400 were used to measure the luminance and color temperature of the facades. The measurement points were located at the opposite spot of the building. The results showed that maximum media facade luminance of such buildings exceed Seoul design guideline. Also, color temperature with over 5,500[K] that exceed the design guideline were mostly used in all the facades.

This paper describes the analysis of loop impedance characteristics by impedance alteration of protective conductors and operating characteristics of electric leakage circuit breaker by each earth systems(TT system, TN-S system and TN-C system) in IEC 60364. As a result, loop Impedance was affected by resistance & inductance. The current& voltage characteristics about earth system were identified that the TN-S system was high fault current & low touch voltage. TN-C system was almost same the TN-S system but TT system was low fault current & high touch voltage.
A Study on the Structure of Neural Network for Predicting Defect Size of Steam Generator Tube in Nuclear Power Plant

In this paper, we study the structure of neural network for predicting defect size of steam generator tube. After extracting the features from the eddy current testing (ECT) signals, multi-layer neural networks are used to predict the defect size. In order to maximize the prediction performance for the defect size, we should carefully choose the structure of neural networks, especially the number of neurons in the hidden layer. In this paper, it is shown that, for the prediction of defect size, the number of neurons in the hidden layer can be efficiently determined by using cross-validation.
Experimental Study on Temporary Overvoltage Characteristics of MOV Based Surge Protective Devices

Protection against lightning surge is an essential part of almost any electrical and electronic equipment today. Metal Oxide Varistor(MOV) is the single most important component in the overwhelming majority of the Surge Protective Devices(SPD) designated to provide such protection. In this paperr various types of MOV based SPD are inspected and experiments are carried out on the side effects of the low Measured Limiting Voltage(MLV) characteristics. Experiment results show that a lower MLV could cause a higher Temporary Overvoltage(TOV)-induced SPD failure rate in the field, and SPD are more likely to be victims rather than protectors in a TOV scenario. This means that from a safety perspective, the SPD should be specified with higher TOV withstand capability(UT) and faster SPD disconnector.
A experimental Study on the Reinforced Coil Development for the Efficiency Improvement of a Single Phase Induction Motor

The efficiency of system with a built-in coil is improved as (1) the total coil flux increases, (2) the space distribution of coil flux is closer to the sinusoidal wave and (3) the direction of coil flux flow becomes more inherent with the original direction at the same condition. Every turn RC(Reinforced Coil) is composed of OC having original region and two IC`s strengthening bidirectionally the inner part flux in order to maintain the symmetry with origin. This way we will realize the inherent flux direction and the sinusoidal closeness as well. Accordingly RC type is obtained by connecting the pure OC`s and RC`s in just turns to be closer to sinusoidal flux wave. We proved experimentally the usefulness of reinforced coil to improve the efficiency of SPIM.
Reliability of Distribution System Divided into Community Energy Systems

This paper presents a technique to evaluate the reliability of customers in Community Energy System(CES). Operators of the CES are responsible for a reliable energy supply to their customers. Due to the strategy of the priority on their customers, the restoration process of DGs should be reordered when system outage happens. The previous study has proposed the technique in the distribution system in which one operator owns all DGs. Case studies in Bus 2 of Roy Billinton Test System(RBTS) verify that the accuracy of the proposed technique is comparable to that of previous technique, and the distribution system divided into several CESs changes the reliability index of customers in the CESs.
A Study on Dynamic Matrix Control using Spray and Damper to Once-through Boiler Steam Temperature

In this paper, we present simulation results of Dynamic Matrix Control (DMC) to a Once-through boiler steam temperature. In order to control the steam temperatures, we choose spray and damper as two input variables. Then, the step response model is generated for the two major output variables by step test. After that, on-line optimization is performed using
step response model. Proposed controller is applied to the APESS (Doosan company`s boiler model simulator) and the simulation results show satisfactory performance of proposed control.
Frequency-Dependent Resistivity and Relative Dielectric Constant of Soil on Water Content

In order to evaluate the performance of a grounding system against lightning or fault currents including high frequency components, the grounding impedance should be considered rather than the steady state ground resistance. To evaluate the ground impedance, the frequency dependence of resistivity and relative dielectric constant of the soil have to be analyzed. This paper deals with the frequency dependence of the resistivity and relative dielectric constant of three types of soil on water content. As a result, the resistivity of soil is getting lower with increasing of water content. It is nearly independent of the frequency in the range less than 1[MHz], and is decreased over the frequency range above 1[MHz]. On the other hand, the relative dielectric constant is rapidly decreased with the frequency in the range less than 1[MHz], but it is nearly independent on the frequency over the range of 1[MHz]. It was found from the experiments that the frequency-dependant resistivity and relative dielectric constant of soil should be considered when designing the grounding systems for protection from lightning or switching surges.
Development of High Efficiency DC-DC Converter Circuit Topology for Renewable Energy Application

This article studies the design of DC-DC Converter to convert low-voltage energy sources generated from renewable power like battery power, photovoltaic power, or fuel cells into high-voltage ones. The circuit topology of H-bridge Converter to convert input voltage, 24[V], into out voltage, 400[V], was realized through applying phase shift angle control so as to manage electric power and voltage in the output side. The advantages of the converter system suggested are the low cost as well as current stress reduction, high efficiency, reliability, and simplified maintenance. It is also found that the system is highly useful to produce residential electric power.
Analysis on Current Limiting and Recovery Characteristics of a SFCL using a Trigger of Superconducting Element

As one of the countermeasures to improve the recovery characteristics of the SFCL (superconducting fault current limiter), the method using the trigger of high-TC superconducting element (HTSC) when the quench in the HTSC element occurred was proposed. To confirm the suggested method, the control circuit to detect the quench occurrence of HTSC element in case of the fault occurrence was designed and the current limiting and recovery experiments of the SFCL using the designed control circuit were performed. Through the analysis for the experimental results, the points of both the open time and the closing time of a power switch comprising the control circuit could be adjusted by the resistance amplitude of a normal conducting current limiting resistor (CLR) and the recovery characteristics of the SFCL together with the current limiting operation could be confirmed to be improved by using the control circuit.
A Study on the Temperature Control of Vapor System Using Induction Heating

Proposed induction-heated system is innovative system which applied special high-frequency power circuit technique for thermal converse technique and IH(Induction-Heating) magnetic induction heating generated from induction-heated metallic package that is for distillation unit. This electromagnetic induction heating technique is used high frequency inverter. By using high frequency inverter high frequency alternative current in the range of [kHz] can be made with conventional alternative current. In this contribution IGBT module is used for high frequency inverter. Resonant high frequency inverter make system of high capacity and high efficiency. This paper describes the temperature control of induction heating system hot air producer using the voltage-fed series resonant high-frequency inverter which can operate in the frequency range from 20 to 44[kHz].
Fractal Analysis of the Carbonization Pattern Formed on the Surface of a Phenolic Resin

When a phenolic resin is carbonized by the leakage current flowing along its surface, the carbonization pattern is one of the most important factors to determine its carbonization characteristics. However, the typical carbonization pattern of a phenolic resin is too complicated to be analyzed by conventional Euclidean geometry. In most cases, such a complicated shape shows a fractal structure. It is possible, therefore, to examine the characteristics of the carbonization pattern regarding a given phenolic resin. In order to quantitatively investigate the carbonization pattern of the phenolic resin carbonized by a leakage current, in this paper, the fractal dimension of the carbonization pattern has been calculated as a function of the magnitude of a leakage current and the distance between two electrodes. For reliability of calculation, the correlation function as well as the box counting method has been used to calculate the fractal dimension. According to the result of calculation, the fractal dimension increases as the current increases at the constant electrode gap distance. However, there is no significant relation between the fractal dimension and the electrode gap distance at a constant current.
Performance Improvement of Epoxy Resin System by the Filler Reformation

In this study, the performance improvement of epoxy resin system had been tried by the improvement of particle size distribution and globularization of filler using polymerization method. From the results of particle size distribution measurement, the polydispersity value of reformed filler was 1.04 and that of silica flour before reformation was 2.6, it could be confirmed that the particle size uniformity of reformed filler had been improved greatly and the shape of particle was globular. Compatibility between monomer and silica was improved remarkably with the silanization pretreatment of silica flour. From the results of degree of crosslinking test, it could be confirmed that the binding structure of reformed filler was 3-dimensional net structure. And it could be also confirmed that the fluidness was improved at the casting of epoxy resin with reformed filler. From the above results, it could be concluded that the reformation of filler with the improvement of particle size distribution and globularization was very successful method to improve the performance of cast epoxy resin system.
A Study on the Application Methods of Chemicals for Reducing Grounding Resistance of the Bar-Shaped Electrode on the Power Distribution System

The bar-shaped electrode is very popular for earth construction in Korea. Copper ground rod, Deep-buried ground rod and conductive concrete ground rod are major types of the bar-shaped electrode and generally applied on the distribution system. But in most case, to obtain the targeted ground resistance is difficult, because ground resistance is very different by soil condition. Therefore, a chemicals for reducing ground resistance is applied. In this paper, the initial and the variation of ground resistance according to the applied methods and types of chemicals over one year are compared with copper ground rod applied with water and the experimental results show that the new methods with chemicals reduced not only the initial ground resistance but also the variation of ground resistance over year.

The perfomances of direction control systems are compared in position responses and motor power consumptions between microstep control of a step motor and dc servo control.
A Control of the ZVZCS PS-FB DC/DC Converter using All-Pass Filter

High power density and power conversion efficiency have been required in the power converters according to the rapid growth of industry. In this context, the next generation High Speed Train(HST) requires power converter which has high-efficiency, high-performance and high-density. In this paper, the new control technique for battery charger used for the next generation HST is proposed. The phase shift ZVZCS converter is classified according to a resonant circuit which is located in the primary or secondary side. In this paper, The PWM switching technique using all-pass filter is proposed to control ZVZCS converter which has resonant circuit in the secondary side. ATmega_128 micro controller based in all-pass filter in substitute for phase shift IC is presented to have digital control. To verify the proposed topology, the simulation and experiment are performed by using PSIM software and 1[kW] experimental set-up.
Study on Design of Rail Level Crossing System for Preventing from Non-Alarming Status Caused by Track Shunting Sensibility Errors

Railroad level crossing systems are used to prevent train from collisions by informing pedestrians and vehicles of approaching trains on the level crossing. The current detection systems mostly use track-based electrical circuits to detect approaching trains. The making and breaking of the circuit when the train wheel passes along the track sends a signal to barriers that restrict access to the track. Unfortunately, this track-based signal system is vulnerable to malfunctions in certain situations. If the rail becomes rusted due to moisture, weather conditions, or infrequent use, the electrical circuit detection system could fail. Such a failure could lead to a train-vehicle or train-pedestrian collision. This paper suggests a replacement of the electrical circuit-based system with an infrared detection system. The research shows that an infrared detection system improves safety by reducing the frequency of detection failure of the alarming circuit to system.
The UV Images and Aging Judgement with Behaviors Caused by Surface Contamination on 22.9[kV] Class Insulators

In this paper, the ultraviolet rays images and aging judgement caused by surface contamination on 22.9[kV] class insulators was defined. UV images represented by the corona discharge are divided 3 types such as sunflower, jellyfish, amoeba and in detail, there are classified the progress mechanism of eight. In the field which is installed the power facilities, immediately, this judgement method can be found out the deteriorated parts of the power facilities. These steps are possible to judge the deterioration of power facilities through reliable data. Hereafter, this study as the diagnostic technology suitable for the sites is used.
