An EV Range in HDRI Acquisition as a Luminance Map Creation

The purpose of this study is to present the EV range in HDRI acquisition process to create luminance map. The proposed method in this study is to capture the scene at EV
that is the longest exposure points and reference point in the scene. With this reference point, sets of 25 LDRI test case were taken manually at
EV using the aperture-priority manual mode. The 25 HDRIs were created using Adobe Photoshop. The HDRIs were then imported Radiance lighting simulation program to be analyzed into falsecolor. The analysis results of the 25 HDRIs test case are 50[%] of the all tested case have a margin of error of 10[%]. In case of f/5.6, the luminance map generated with HDRI were similar to the spot luminance meter. As a result, the EV range to reduce error of luminance map generated with HDRI is EV
Analysis of Luminous Quantity Changes by the Dimming Control of the LED Lamp

Until now, dimmable fluorescent luminaires has been widely used for dimming systems, and LED is currently attracting attentions as a alternative lamp due to environmental problem issues. LED, one of eco-friendly high efficiency lamp, has advantage that dimming is easy than fluorescent luminaire. But there have been not enough research on technical development and application for LED dimming. Therefore, to analyze luminous quantity of dimmable LED, the illuminance, color temperature, luminance, and current were measured in the whole range of dimming. In the results of this study, the dimmable LED of various types showed a similar trend in the changed luminous quantity by dimming.
Power System Stability Analysis Using a Hybrid Approach

This paper explains hybrid method that combines Time domain simulation technique with the direct method of Transient stability analysis. First, it calculate trajectory of real system by Time domain Simulation using OOP(Object Oriented Programming method) and evaluate Transient Energy Function to induce stability index to calculate Transient stability margin. Once the status of system(stable or unstable) has been identified, proper criteria are proposed to stop time-domain simulation to reduce CPU time.

This paper proposes a new load torque observer based on the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy method for a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM). A Linear Matrix Inequality(LMI) parameterization of the fuzzy observer gain is given, and the LMI conditions are derived for the existence of the fuzzy load torque observer guaranteeing
-stability and linear quadratic performance. In this paper, a nonlinear speed controller is employed to validate the performance of the proposed fuzzy load torque observer, and various simulation results are presented under motor parameter and load torque variations.

There are several overvoltages by abnormal conditions in power system. We need to calculate these ovevoltages for the insulation design and the fault analysis. For these calculations, we used EMTP(Electro-magnetic Transients Program). During EMTP calculations, the accurate modelling of the equipments is very important for analysis results. In this paper, we considered the effects of the modelling condition's changes for transmission line within EMTP modelling cases of overvoltage analysis. Specially, we considered CB closing cases of 765[kV] system. So, we had changed the calculation frequencies of Line Constants, which is used for CB closing cases. In addition, we compared the calculation result and the measured result.

The Microsource has to supply high quality Power that has high reliability and high energy efficiency to Load according to operating type of Microgrid. The energy sources of microsource type have various dynamic characteristic and transient response corresponding to classes and application skill. This paper shows dynamic characteristic of Microgrid according to Energy Source of microsource type. This research has been carried out by detailed modelling of Microturbine system and Fuelcell system. All models are realized by EMTP/RV and simulated change of operating type and load increase within Microgrid of DC constant voltage inverter model and Microturbine, Fuelcell based Microsource.
Implementation of Fiber Optic and Wireless Complex Communication Network for Distribution Automation using IEEE 802.11a WLAN technology

In order to provide electricity to users economically and safely, distribution automation systems (DASs) monitor and operate components of distribution systems remotely through communication networks. The fiber optic communication network has been mainly installed for the DAS of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) because of its huge bandwidth and dielectric noise immunity. However, the fiber optic communication network has some shortcomings that its installation cost and communication fee are expensive. This paper proposes a complex network where WLANs are combined with conventional fiber optic communication networks in order to expand DAS easily and inexpensively. A fixed wireless bridge communication unit (FWB-CU) for the proposed complex network is implemented using IEEE 802.11a WLAN technology. The proposed complex network is built actually to verify its feasibility experimentally as a DAS communication network.

This paper shows an implementation and management result of wireless networks based security light control system, which performs a great role in protection of pedestrians and prevention of crime. Conventional security light units have severe limits in confirmation and inspection of security light unit failure, like wilful damage by someone or failure by influence of other equipment or failure by spontaneous heat-increase, and so on. In addition, local government offices are responsible for maintenance of security light units and as a matter of fact, most of civil complaints are about security light units. It is an obvious that the existing security light maintenance system reaches the limit and the security light maintenance problem is a difficulty of local government. Therefore, efficient security light control system is needed, which enables central control and intelligent maintenance. Moreover, the system has to be easy to control and has to be stable. In this study, wireless sensor network based security light control system is implemented, which is independent of programming language and platform, and which is simple to control and extend the system. The proven protocols, HTTP and SOAP, are utilized in order to improve the system reliability. This paper shows the excellence of our proposed system by implementing and operating it in real environment.

Most accidents occurred in power receiving & transforming facility are ground fault. The quality of power supply is deteriorated since the ground fault is not detected promptly. This paper analyzes the problems about system-grounding type of 2 step power receiving & transforming facility, arrangement of protection relaying scheme and ground-fault protection system of ungrounded system. Then, this paper presents the arranging scheme of system-grounding type to improve power supply reliability.

This paper describes the safety assessment of power cable splices connecting different sized 6/10[kV] class power cables. To assess the safety, AC withstand voltage tests, partial discharge tests and impulse tests were carried out to the cable splice specimens and thermal rise due to overload and cross section of joint were examined as well. During a ground fault the maximum fault current and neutral to ground voltage will appear at the pole nearest to the fault. Distribution lines are consisted of three phase conductors, an overhead ground wire and a multi-grounded neutral line. In this paper phase to neutral faults were staged at the specified concrete pole along the distribution line and measured the ground fault current distribution in the ground fault current, three poles nearest to the fault point, overhead ground wire and neutral line. Microgrid is a small-scale power system composed of distributed generators, energy storage system and loads, and can operate in the grid-connected mode and the islanded mode. This paper presents optimal design procedures for remote microgrid. The design program is based on the economic evaluations including the feasibility study module, optimal combination and allocation of DERs, power network design and the reduction of the GHG emmission. This program which is suggested in this paper shows good performance as a tool of remote microgrid design.
Evaluation of Discharge Characteristics Followed by the Development of Blumlein Pulsed Power Source

This paper discussed the theoretical simulation results for developing the blumlein pulsed power source and showed the circuit configuration and the discharge characteristics of the realistic manufactured pulsed power system. In the simulation, the output voltage characteristics at a load resistor showed the general impulse shape when the impedance of a single coaxial cable is matched with the that of a load resistor. In addition, it is confirmed that output values of the pulsed power can be easily controlled by the duplication of coaxial cables and the pulsed waveform showed the general impulse characteristics. Specifically, the inception discharge voltage in the gap distance of 5[mm] between needle and plane electrodes is about 20[kV] and which is lower than about 29[kV] in 9[mm] due to the difference of the reaching time of the inception voltage. Therefore, this paper showed that the output voltage of the blumlein pulsed power source can be easily controlled.

In this paper, the empirical study for a hybrid generation system based on wind power which is leading renewable energy was performed. The simulation for the overall operation of the wind generator, diesel generators, monitoring system and a central controller operated in Demonstration Complex was carried out. In addition, the adequacy of the control algorithm was examined through the experiments.

Today, effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is to be strengthened worldwide. And environment-friendly vehicle is being magnified because of energy saving and minimization of environmental pollution. In the future, the construction of EV charging facilities will be needed for Prevalence of EV in the Public Housing. So in this paper, we survey and analyze data of power usage and owned vehicles on the existing public housing according to season, day and time. And, we reviewed appropriate configuration ratio according to three kind of case. Besides, we calculate Prevalence Estimates of EV and utilization factor based on analysis result. And finally, we try to study for case model.
A Reassessment for Dynamic Line Rating of Aged Overhead Transmission Lines in Kepco's Network

During the past 2 decades, many electric power companies have been searching various solutions in order to supply power with economical and more efficiency in the present transmission utilities. Most interesting method to increase the line capacity of overhead transmission lines without constructing any new line might be to adapt Dynamic Line Rating(DLR). Specified rating is normally determined by any current level, not by conductor temperature. Although specified rating is essential to design transmission line, dip may be the most important factor in limiting transmission capacity. Transmission lines built by the oldest dip criterion among the 3 different design criteria for conductor dip are nearly over one-half of all Kepco's transmission lines. This paper describes an up-rating method for those transmission lines in order to apply DLR technique. Based on limit dip conductor temperature and current of the transmission lines, limitation performance and effectiveness in applying DLR with weather model are analyzed. As a result of analysis, it can be shown that an improved method could be effectively used for increasing the line rating of old transmission line which was built by the design criterion with low dip margin.
Determination of Shading Ratio Outputting Minimum Critical Power of Photovoltaic Panel

In this paper, the shading ratio about to output the minimum critical power of a photovoltaic panel was determined by experiment and simulation. A 2.475[kW] poly-crystalline photovoltaic panel consisting of 11 modules was used in the experiment and its surface was covered with shading curtains, thus the amount of light incident to the modules were controlled. In order to compare with the experimental results, the experimental circuits were modelled with the CASPOC (power electronics electrical drives simulator) and module parameters were applied to it, by which the minimum critical power was calculated. As a result, the photovoltaic panel was about to generate the power when the 5th shading curtains were removed from the module surface, after then the output power linearly increased by removing the shading curtains. In addition, the CASPOC simulation results were similar to the experimental results in the abrupt decreasing pattern of power.

In this paper, we changed
insulation gases used already in the GIB(Gas Insulated Bus, gas insulated busbar) of switching appliances of power grid 170[kV] GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear, Gas Insulated Switchgear) with green insulation dry air gases and studied dielectric breakdown voltage characteristics by the AC voltage withstand test. Withstand test AC voltage applied to the standard KEPCO's 170[kV] GIB with dry air insulation and and the equivalent of dry air and
gas were examined. Breakdown voltage of dry air, using an expression of the experiments were calculated and AC Withstand criterion of dry air insulation for the AC voltage test was derived. Using the criterion, dry air gases can be used instead of the

An Analysis the Distribution Power System Voltage Sag Case by a High Capacity Motor Connection

Recently, the KEPCO is constructing the PQMS(Power Quality Monitoring System) each of the distribution line and will establish the voltage sag standard based on the long time measurement data of PQMS. The voltage sag prospect is difficult for the power system manager, however, the voltage sag forecasted is very important because the damage effect of the voltage sag is very broad. This paper describes the prospect formula of the voltage sag magnitude in the PCC(Point Common Coupling) by the starting current when the high capacity equipment is connected with the distribution line. To achieve this, this paper has proposed the sag prospect formula revision of KEPCO for the reliability improvement and the proposed formula has been applied the voltage sag real case to inspect the calculation procedure and reliability.
Optimal Design of Direct-Driven Wind Generator Using Genetic Algorithm Combined with Expert System

In this paper, the optimal design of a wind generator, implemented with the hybridized GA(Genetic Algorithm) and ES(Expert System), has been performed to maximize the AEP(Annual Energy Production) over the whole wind speed characterized by the statistical model of wind speed distribution. In particular, to solve the problem of calculation iterate, ES finds the superior individual and apply to initial generation of GA and it makes reduction of search domain. Meanwhile, for effective searching in reduced search domain, it propose Intelligent GA algorithm. Also, it shows the results of optimized model 500[kW] wind generator using hybridized algorithm and benchmark result of compare with GA.
Analysis of Communication Characteristics on Contact wire and Messenger wire of Electric Railroad for Power Line Communication

Power line communication, using 25[kV] high voltage of railway catenary, is to provide information which is real-time safety information for train operations and train workers in driving. Lots of noise were occupied in the contact wire by electrical and communication equipments. A signal attenuation was caused characteristics of the contact wire and messenger wire. For relaying communications to transmit information using the contact wire, catenary the noise and signal attenuation were investigated. And the final goal of the study was realized to transmit video information by power line communication on electric railway.
Collision Avoidance Path Planning for Multi-Mobile Robot System : Fuzzy and Potential Field Method Employed

In multi-mobile robot environment, path planning and collision avoidance are important issue to perform a given task collaboratively and cooperatively. The proposed approach is based on a potential field method and fuzzy logic system. For a global path planner, potential field method is employed to select proper path of a corresponding robot and fuzzy logic system is utilized to avoid collisions with static or dynamic obstacles around the robot. This process is continued until the corresponding target of each robot is reached. To test this method, several simulation-based experimental results are given. The results show that the path planning and collision avoidance strategies are effective and useful for multi-mobile robot systems.
