Digital Light Color Control System of LED Lamp using Inverse Tri-Stimulus Algorithm

In this paper, the method to calculate chromaticity coordinate from spectral power distribution of LED is presented. Also, inverse tri-stimulus algorithm to find mixed luminance of red, green, blue LED from targeted luminance and chromaticity coordinate is proposed. Besides, digital light color control system of LED lamp applied this algorithm has been developed. In experiments, each chromaticity coordinate of red, green, blue LED calculated from this algorithm has relative percentage error of few % to measured values. Digital code is drawn from inverse tri-stimulus algorithm, and measured values of luminance and chromaticity coordinate of LED lamp digitally controlled by this code also have relative percentage error within a few % to targeted luminance and chromaticity coordinate.
Analysis of the Change of Intensity Distribution and Luminous Environment by Reflector Shape in Indirect Reflected LED Luminaires

Development of high efficiency and eco-friendly LED source has been progressed continuously. Also, by nation's regulations, public institutions have changed existing luminaires to LED luminaires. However, there are several differences between existing luminaires and the intensity distribution of general planar LED luminaires. In case of changing existing luminaires to LED luminaires, by such differences, there are inefficiencies both quality aspect and energy aspect in luminous environment. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a study on the changes of intensity distribution and luminous environment by reflector shapes in indirect reflected LED luminaires with software for optical design of a luminaire (Photopia 2.0) and lighting design of a space (ReluxPro). This study shows the changes of intensity distribution and luminous environment of indirect reflected LED luminaires and indirect fluorescent lamp luminaires by reflector shapes.
The Analysis of Fatigueness and Preference for Three Appearance Attributes of LED Light Color

Light emitting diode(LED) technology has been increasingly developed and larger color gamut by LED illuminations can be reproduced; therefore more efficient LED lighting design can be accomplished under a consideration of color emotion. Fifty-two LED colors which are uniformly distributed on the uniform chromaticity space are evaluated in terms of fatigueness and preference and their relation to three color-appearance attributes(lightness, chroma and hue) are investigated. As a result, 23 human observers likely to prefer and feel comfortable, when lightness of a given LED color stimulus increases as well as its chroma decreases. The highest fatigueness score is observed in red color series and the most preferred LED color is found in green color series. In addition, fatigueness and preference show a strong negative linear relation and their Pearson correlation is higher than -0.8.
Subjective Evaluation on the Color Temperatures of LED illumination in the Classroom

This study performs the subjective evaluations of LED illumination conditions according to three types of color temperatures (7,000[K], 5,000[K], 3,000[K]) after employing LED illumination system in the classroom, Since the objective of this study is to develop an artificial lighting conditions like day light comfortable to students in the classroom, the learning effect based on three types of LED illumination conditions are analyzed. Three factors (learning intention, learning environment, learning motivation) are extracted by ANOVA and there are preference differences of LED illumination conditions between learning intention and learning environment factors. Especially, preference differences of LED illumination conditions are existed about calculation, reading and fatigue reduction. The test results of this study can be applied to obtaining high achievement of learning based on the lighting conditions.
An Economic Analysis and Consideration on the Application of Photovoltaic System for Bridge Nightscape Energy Savings at Han River in Seoul

PV(Photovoltaic) system is environmentally friendly power system using solar energy in renewable energy. PV system compared to other renewable energy power generation systems is relatively easy to install, so the dissemination is increasing worldwide. Especially, BIPV(Building Integrated Photovoltaic) is a system that PV modules are installed on the building and use renewable energy. But this system is difficult to apply due to the shadow of adjacent buildings and limited installation. In this study, payback period is calculated by Retscreen 2010, that is an economic assessment software of renewable energy, on applied to the bridge of PV system. As results, this study aims at actively considering the application.
Case Studies for Potential Distribution due to Power Source by Environmental Condition

In this paper, potential distribution analysis through the six kinds of case studies examined in the environmental conditions change within a limited space, by the power supply system installed. To interpret the potential distribution using electromagnetic field analysis program and the parameters were state of the ground, the outer wall of the configuration state and the presence of human potential distribution was simulated. Potential distribution analysis, the size of nominal voltage, depending on the impedance of human body to be determined on the impact of surprise decision, but if equipped with appropriate protective equipment can be protected from lightning have been confirmed.
A Study on Comparison of Two phase SRMs

In small-power applications, variable-speed motors having high efficiency and controllability become more dominant than brushed DC motors. BLDC motors with permanent magnets in the rotor and SRMs directed by reluctance torque due to no permanent magnets have been strongly studied as a candidate. Compared to the BLDC motors, SRMs are more suitable for low-cost applications since the magnetic structure is simple, mechanically robust, and cheap due to no additional excitation in the rotor such as copper wire, aluminum, and permanent magnets. In addition, relatively small number of phases in single and two-phase SRMs allows more cost savings with regards to material in the motor and switching devices in the converter. In this paper, several 2 phase SRMs are compared to a 3 phase 6/4 SRM in terms of flux distribution in key parts of the motors.
The Cost Reduction Effect of Gridable Sea Water Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plant

A novel concept of the gridable desalination plant is to provide an operation management to enable an electricity plant operation cost reduction. Adjusting recovery rate responded to electricity price, an electricity plant operation cost can be saved. To show a suggested approach, the data of 10 [MIGD](Million Imperial Gallons per Day) SWRO testbed are used. The result shows that total cost reduction rate is calculated about 1.6[%] of annual total electric plant operation cost.
Case Studies on the Electric Power Loss Reducing Methodology for Transformer Installation in Sewage Treatment Plant

Sewage treatment plants, consuming 1,756[GWh] which is 0.53[%] of national wide electricity consumption, is one of the electricity consuming facilites. At the research of electricity consumption and power quality analysis on sewage treatment plants, average utilization of transformer was less than 40[%] because peak load was very lower than its capacity due to excess capacity. So reduction of power loss can be achieved by transformer design optimization. The achievement in this research, is to meet reduction of power loss through optimizing the capacity and to improve as high efficiency-low loss transformer while the transformer is operating.
Sensorless Control for Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) using Disturbance Observer with Variable Cut-off Frequency

Using sensors to detect current or voltage of motors is disadvantaged because motor is exposed to vibration, impacts, corrosion, high temperature and humidity in the machinery structure like HEV. In the case of IPMSM, position information is included not only in the flux or EMF term but also in the rotator inductance because of its saliency. To solve this problem, a new mathematical model of IPMSMs on fixed frame is proposed and an extended EMF includiing rotating position information is defined to estimate extended EMF. A strong low-pass filter through the variable cut-off frequency using velocity function was proposed. This makes it is possible to estimate extended EMF by least order disturbance observer. The proposed method was proved through the experiment.
A Study on the Life Time of RCD in Coastal Area

The role of RCDs(Residual Current Protective Device) that are installed before the load is very important for preventing electric shock and electrical fire. However, although fault rate of RCD is increasing due to deterioration and long period usage, the RCD is permanently used without a checking of performance evaluation and it causes the electrical accident. In this paper, the amount of airborne chloride is researched in domestic costal area and the accelerated life test is conducted using a salt water spray tester in order to decide the life time of RCD. Aa a result of an accelerated life test, the MTTF(Mean Time To Failure) of RCD is 110.81 hours and B10 life time of RCD is 45.81 hours for the all samples. when an accelerated life test result is applied to within 2 km costal area, the life time of RCD is predicted about 5 years.

This paper presents a technical study for the first short stroke lightning current generator using a crowbar device. The so-called crowbar-technology is most common to make 10/350[
] impulse currents with high amplitude, and the lightning current generator with crowbar device has an economic advantage than the nominal RLC current generator. But both the operating efficiency and the operating reliability of crowbar spark gap are very important to design the current generator. So, the peaking circuit which consists of small capacitors and a spark gap is applied. And the multi-step coil for controlling the circuit constant at the different test conditions is used. A Study on the Reliability of Superconducting Fault Current Limiter

The failure of cooling system in Superconducting Fault Current Limiter(SFCL) increases the impedance of superconducting device, and due to malfunction of inner switches the SFCL opens the distribution system inadvertently when required to do so. In this paper, the ground fault and short circuit fault were classified as active failure and the open circuit fault was passive failure. A reliability model of SFCL considers the passive failure as well as active failure, and in the case study the reliability indices of distribution system are evaluated. It is possible that the reliability evaluation excluded passive failure makes the customers reliability seem so worse than it really was. Therefore, the reliability models of SFCL must include the active failure and passive failure together to evaluate the reliability of distribution system connected SFCL.
Optimum Design of Glass Net in 2[MVA] Mold Transformer

In this paper, the optimum design of the glass net shape was studied to minimize the electric field of mold transformer. The glass net is used for reinforcement in structure between coils and epoxy, but it can cause to increase the electric field and the partial discharge. Therefore, the optimum design of glass net is required to minimize the electric field. In this paper, the objective function was approximated by using response surface method and then Zoom-in method was used for optimal design to minimize the electric field. The electric field was analysed using finite element method for each shape of glass nets.
Analysis on Fault Current Limiting and Bus-Voltage Sag Suppressing Characteristics of a Transformer Type Superconducting Fault Current Limiter

As one of the countermeasures to solve the increase of the fault current in a power system, the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) has been noticed together with the development of a various types of SFCL, which has accelerated the researches to apply a SFCL into a power system. Among the developed SFCLs, the transformer type SFCL is expected to be available for adjusting the voltage and the current ratings of the SFCL. In this paper, the fault current limiting and the bus line‘s voltage sag suppressing effect by the transformer type SFCL were investigated and the case without the transformer type SFCL was compared as well. Through the analysis on the results of the short-circuit tests, the fault current limiting and the bus-line voltage suppressing characteristics of the transformer type SFCL could be confirmed to be effectively performed.
