Evaluation of Glare and Forward Visibility of Headlamp for Elder Friendly Vehicle

The elder population with 65 years old or more in Korea has been entered into an aging society as 9.1[%] in 2005 to 14.3[%] in 2018. The elder population in 2026 will be expected to 20.8[%] with the rapid aging society. In this study, there has been conducted a study on development of headlamp for elder friendly vehicle in order to ffrom two different groups, one group for elder with over 65 ages, the other group for compared ages(20 ages, 30~50 ages). Glare test and forward visibility test were performed on wet and dry road conditions. As the result of these tests, it showed to prefer headlamp installed partially yellow coated bulb, which gives warm feeling on dry road condition. Forward visibility of headlamp which developed to fit on wet road condition is similar to existing HID headlamp. Glare was evaluated less than halogen and HID headlamp. However, it need to more improve glare and forward visibility performance of headlamp for old drivers.
A Study on Maintenance Planning for Efficient Urban Lighting in Wonju-si

Based on the master plan, this study classified Wonju-si into five major regions and 19 areas by analyzing its night characteristics and deduced problems by analyzing quantitative light distribution of major points at the regions and areas through the measurement of illuminance and luminance and by surveying people's awareness. To develop eco-friendly night environment image of Wonju, Woju's identify was to be created by the planning for the 19 area and improvements for each type. Additionally, detailed items for maintenance were suggested by classifying them into illuminance, color temperature, luminance, lighting display, lighting time, light distribution type, and so forth.
A Basic Study on Performance Evaluation of Permanent Supplementary Artificial Lighting of Interior(PSALI) using a LED Light Source

Since the first lighting light source was invented, lighting has turned into superior-quality lighting considering the amenity of occupants, and the characteristics of a light source has developed rapidly. So this research confirmed the lighting performance of a dimmer control system and an ON-OFF control system via the existing light source, and analyzed the basic lighting environment of Permanent Supplementary Artificial Lighting of Interiors(PSALI) through the physical comparison and evaluation of a LED lamp substituted for a fluorescent lamp used in a dimmer control system, showing that the lighting physical quantity characteristics of an ON-OFF control system and a dimmer control system are similar to each other and that they are effective in terms of energy saving. Besides, it was shown that introducing a LED light source to a dimmer control system improves lighting environments and largely reduces energy consumption.
A Study on the Convertible Emergency Lighting Fixture in Consideration of Dark Adaptation

When an emergency light turns on due to a blackout, the intensity of illumination is drastically changed from hundreds [1x] to 1.0[1x]. This sharp change of illumination intensity not only lowers the darkness adaptation of the eye, it also degrades the obstacle cognitive ability of the evacuees, resulting in secondary critical accidents due to anxiety, and fear. Thus, this study proposed a convertible emergency lighting fixture that controls the rate of speed of light in two stages by time with darkness adaptation of the eye in consideration. In addition, the effect of such emergency light is verified by suggesting an illumination simulation without increasing the number of light or capacity of battery to make it economically feasible.
A Study on the Sensorless Control of Synchronous Reluctance Motor using Trigonometric Function

Recently, SynRM has been focused by many researchers and there has been a lot of works for the industrial application of SynRM. In spite of several merits of SynRM, the information of exact rotor position is also required to perform the precise torque control, which causes the increment of cost and demerits SynRM to use in industrial application. Therefore, we studied sensorless control algorithm for the torque control of SynRM to overcome the demerits. Specially we proposed simple algorithm to estimate rotor position using trigonometric function, verified with computer simulation and experiment.

Grounding electrodes with higher burial depths are evaluated to have better performance, due to the domestic practice that puts the grounding resistance as the standard of performance evaluation, while grounding resistance decreases as the burial depth increases. However, The dangerous voltage is necessary for the analysis. Because the performance evaluation of grounding electrodes should include not only grounding resistance but also the dangerous voltage(mesh voltage and step voltage). So in this paper, The dangerous voltages of mesh grounding and rod grounding were analyzed for using computer simulation and miniature grounding model.
ANN Rotor Resistance Estimation of Induction Motor Drive using Multi-AFLC

This paper is proposed artificial neural network(ANN) rotor resistance estimation of induction motor drive controlled by multi-adaptive fuzzy learning controller(AFLC). A simple double layer feedforward ANN trained by the back-propagation technique is employed in the rotor resistance identification. In this estimator, double models of the state variable estimations are used; one provides the actual induction motor output states and the other gives the ANN model output states. The total error between the desired and actual state variables is then back propagated to adjust the weights of the ANN model, so that the output of this model tracks the actual output. When the training is completed, the weights of the ANN correspond to the parameters in the actual motor. The estimation and control performance of ANN and multi-AFLC is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. Also, this paper is proposed the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of this controller.
Analysis of Impedance Performance for Condenser by Harmonic Current Source

Most of the user has been used linear load and non-linear load. The former is usually inductive load which is needed power factor compensation, the latter is power conversion system device. Actually two kinds of load is used together in the customer application. Generally capacitor is used for power-factor compensation of inductive load and reduction harmonics of non linear load with reactor. Non-linear load generates harmonic current for its energy conversion process. If harmonic current pass along the low impedance side of distribution system, the magnification of voltage and current is appeared by the series and parallel resonance. As a result, condenser has received a bitter electrical stress by the harmonic component. In this paper, we analyzed that how resonance is changed by the 5-th harmonic current pattern and proposed an alternative plan for non-magnification.
Decomposition Characteristics of Perfluorocompounds(PFCs) Gas through Gliding Arc Plasma with Hydrogen Gas

Perfluorocompounds (PFCs) gases were decomposed by gliding arc plasma generated by AC pulse power.
gas of 10 LPM flow rate and
gas of 0.5 LPM were introduced into the gliding arc plasma generated between a pair of electrodes with SUS 303 material, and the PFCs gases were injected in the plasma and thereby were decomposed. The PFCs gas-decomposition-characteristics through the gliding arc plasma were analyzed by FT-IR, where pure
environment were used to generate the gliding arc plasma. The PFCs gas-decomposition-properties were changed by electric power for gliding arc plasma generation and the H2 gas addition was effective to enhance the PFCs decomposition rate.
Selection of Operating Parameters and Management of Operation Console for Protection and Control of Steam Turbine in a Korea Standard Type Nuclear Power Plant

This paper contains the selection of operation parameters for protection and control of steam turbine in a Korea Standard Type Nuclear Power Plant. The safety of nuclear reactor must be ensured which generates nuclear energy and produces steam. Also, the safety of turbine, which consume the nuclear energy as a core machine, must be ensured. For the purpose of this, we describe how the operating parameters were selected, reviewed, implemented into the operator console and finally put into actual operation of the system.
Fabrication and Properties of Diamond Thin-Film from N-Hexane by Using Microwave Plasma Process

In this paper, the best conditions for the deposition of the high quality diamond thin-film from N-hexane as a carbon source in the microwave plasma process was carried out. Major parameters are the deposition time, flow rates of oxygen and hexane. The deposition time for the steady state thin-film was required more than 4[h], and the suitable flow rates of hexane and oxygen for the high-quality thin-film are 0.4[sccm] and 0.1~0.2[sccm], respectively. In addition, amorphous carbons such as DLC and graphite were grown by increasing the flow rate of hexane, and it decreased by increasing the flow rate of oxygen. Specifically, the growth rate is about 1.5[
] under no addition of oxygen and it decreased about 60[%] as ca. 1.0[
] with oxygen.
Assessment of Interruption Costs on the Industry Load through Using the Microscopic Method

This paper assesses interruption costs on the industry load through using the microscopic method. For assessment, the questionnaire was made on Korea Standard Industry Categorization which is composed of 28 type of industry Then, the survey was distributed to 1889 business in 12 area by staffs of KEPCO. The collected data is changed to the trustworthy data by using Bad Data Selection method and then the interruption costs of industry load was calculated by Tobit Regression which is tool analysing both collected data and the others.
An Analysis of the Ground Potential Rises and Dangerous Voltages Associated with the Frequency of Ground Currents

The most important object of grounding systems is to protect human being from electric shock. Touch and step voltages are measured to evaluate the performances of grounding systems. Dangerous voltages have been largely studied by the power frequency fault currents, on the other hand, the ground current containing the high frequency components and surge currents haven't been considered. Many attempts about the grounding impedances reported in these days show that the performance of the grounding systems in high frequency range is very different with the ground resistance. It is necessary to analyze the dangerous voltages formed by the ground currents containing high frequency components. In this paper, the ground surface potential rises near the vertical and horizontal grounding electrodes are measured at the frequency of 100[Hz], 30[kHz], and 100[kHz]. Dangerous voltages are investigated with the frequency-dependent grounding impedance. As a result, the ground surface potential rise is increased as the grounding impedance increases. Touch and step voltages near the grounding electrode whose impedance increases with the frequency are sharply raised.
The Thermal Characteristics of Partially Disconnected Wire Happened in Plug

There are over 30[%] of electric fires in Korea happened at wire or wiring devices. For its prevention many safety devices are set up electric equipments. These safety devices are not working in a rated current's condition of electric equipment. But when wire is partially disconnected, electric fire is able to be happened even though current is smaller than a rated current value. This paper studied thermal characteristics and fire ability when wire in plug is partially disconnected. The experiment is progressed a method that inner wire of plug is partially disconnected and after that current that is less than a rated current is flowed. As the result, heating occurred in near of partially disconnected wire makes that outer sheath is melted, plug cover is carbonized, and even sometimes wire is fused. And results of analysis of thermal image of partially disconnected wire happened in plug, it shows a difference to heating distribution and temperature appeared surface of plug depend on a progress of a partially disconnected wire.
Analysis of the Electromagnetic Clutch for Emergency Power Generator

This paper deals with the electromagnetic clutch which stop the generator at emergency by using the engine power of generator. The electromagnetic field was analyzed using Flux-2d program with different conditions : voltage, air gap, coil locations. As a result, the maximum magnetic flux density of electromagnetic clutch occurred between the coil and wheel : 0.27[T], 0.41[T] at 12[V], 24[V]. The maximum flux density was at the center location of the coil.
An Analysis of the Ground Surface Potential Rise and Hazardous Voltages Caused by Impulse Currents

Lightning and switching surges propagating through the grounding conductors lead to transient overvoltages, and electronic circuits in information technology systems are very susceptible to damage or malfunction from the electrical surges. Surge damages or malfunctions of electrical and electronic equipment may be caused by potential rises. To solve these problems, it is very important to evaluate the ground surface potential rises and hazardous voltages such as touch and step voltages at or near the grounding systems energized by electrical surges. In this paper, the performance of grounding systems against the surge current containing high frequency components on the basis of the actual-sized tests is presented. The ground surface potential rises and hazardous voltages depending on impulse currents for vertical or horizontal grounding electrodes are measured and analyzed. Also the touch and step voltages caused by the impulse currents are investigated. As a result, the ground surface potential rises, the touch and step voltages near the grounding electrodes are raised and the conventional grounding impedances are increased as the front time of the injected impulse currents is getting faster.
Dead Time Compensation Scheme Independent of Parameter Variations in an Inverter-fed PMSM Drive

A new dead time compensation scheme that can exactly estimate the dead time and inverter nonlinearity under parameter variations is proposed for a PWM inverter-fed PMSM drive. The proposed scheme uses the fact that the sixth harmonic component in total disturbance estimated under the presence of various uncertainties is mainly caused by the dead time and inverter nonlinearity. The total disturbance due to the parameter variations as well as the dead time and inverter nonlinearity is estimated by the adaptive scheme. The sixth harmonic component is extracted from this total disturbance through harmonic analysis. The obtained sixth harmonic is processed by the PI controller to estimate the disturbance caused by the dead time and inverter nonlinearity in the stationary reference frame. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified. Without requiring an additional hardware, the proposed scheme can effectively compensate the dead time and inverter nonlinearity even under the parameter variations.
