A Study on the Luminance Measuring Method and Regional Measured Results for Outdoor Signboards with Lighting Considering Light Pollution

To suggest lighting regulations to prevent light pollution, domestic and international standards were analyzed and the luminance of outdoor signboards of main street at night was measured. In addition, to regulate the methods of luminance measurement, experiments on the measuring distance and direction from the signboards were conducted. The regulations were set as maximum luminance for outdoor signboard lightings of channel letter type, and limitations were suggested on each of the four lighting zones.

There have been light pollution standards just for architectural lighting and sign in the "Light Pollution Abatement Law" so far. However, both of them regulate only one of the three main light pollution elements-"Glare". Therefore, it is imperative to do research on the other two light pollution elements-"Upward" and "Light Trespass" and make proper restriction. Subsequently, this study focuses on the upward light from the street light and suggests its analysis method. Eventually, this study aims to make viable management which is suitable for the nation and, in addition, to suggest appropriate level of restriction to "Light Pollution Abatement Law" by doing site survey.
Subjective Evaluation of Brightness Perception and Visual Discomfort by Illuminance Reduction for Different CCT LED Lights

This study conducted a subjective evaluation of brightness perception and visual discomfort according to dimming speeds and CCTs(Correlated Color Temperatures). Dimming speeds of two different CCT lights(2,700K, 6400K) were set to 1.7%/s, 3.3%/s, 5.0%/s, 6.7%/s, and 10.0%/s respectively. Subjects checked the time when they perceived the change of the brightness and visual discomfort. As a result, when dimming speeds were 1.7%/s, 3.3%/s, 5.0%/s, 6.7%/s, more than half of subjects responded the change of the brightness in 55.0~45.0% dimming ratios, and felt the visual discomfort in 35~25% dimming ratios. When the brightness was changed, dimming level responded to the brightness perception of hight CCT(6,400K) was higher about 8.0% then dimming level responded to the brightness perception of low CCT(2,700K). Dimming level responded to the visual discomfort of low CCT(2,700K) was higher about 5.0% then dimming level responded to the visual discomfort of hight CCT(6,400K).

If obstacle in GIS(Gas Insulted Switchgear), its affects are great are on the community and it is consequently demanded lots of difficulities to recover and repair. Accordingly, diagnosis techniques, that are able to prevent from accidents before they happen by providing more stable and highly reliable power effectively and finding sign of the accidents is very important. A novel UHF(Ultra High Frequency)-microstrip antenna is presented. The measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is from 0.5GHz to 15GHz with the stop band from 0.5GHz to 10.7GHz for VSWR<2. A Development of Agent-Based IEDs for Integration Control of Building Microgrid in Smart Green Building

In this paper, a development of agent-based IEDs(Intelligent electronic devices) for integration control of building microgrid in smart green building are proposed. To manage and control this complex energy system of smart green buildings, multi-agent system based networks is needed. Thus, several IEDs for utilizing multi-agent system are developed and modified for the their verification of performance as agent modules functions in the integrated experimental equipment. The good performance of these IED agents are verified from experimental results obtained from seamless bi-directional communication by SOAP/XML protocol between PC agent and IED agent.

The purpose of this study is development of the diagnosis system to preventative maintenance in the on-board measuring systems for in-cab electric inspection systems of high speed railway. The on-board measuring systems can inspect precisely whether ground signal system operate stably. In this paper, we recognize characteristics of the track circuits and confirm whether the wave of current matches the on-board measuring data through the electric modeling method for high speed railway. it is necessary to develop GUI visual programs that can simulate abnormalities of the on-board measuring data in many ways, and the visual program is designed to diagnosis in the case of track circuit equipment's function decreased in advance.
Analysis on Characteristics of Core and Winding Vibration in Cast Resin Transformer

In this paper, The cast resin transformer's vibration is measured using noncontact raser vibrometer(LV110D). The vibration characteristics of transformer windings and core are analyzed for relation between vibration magnitude and cause. Using the analysis results, the technique is presented to diagnose cast resin transformer. which is able to diagnose transformer' deformation in winding and core geometry. The magnetostriction and electromagnetic force act on the core and windings, causing them to vibrate. The vibration from windings and core penetrates into transformer cast resin and reaches the outside walls. The fundamental frequency of the core and windings vibration signal is twice that of the power frequency(120Hz). The results show that the magnitude of core vibration is linear to driving voltage amplitude and magnitude of windings vibration is increased to loading current under the some level and then stabilized.
Design of Multi-protocol IED for Networked Control System of Multi-Induction Motor in Industrial Fields

This paper proposes a new design and implementation of multi-protocol IED for networked control system of multi-induction motor in industrial fields. The experimental multi-induction motor based multi-protocol IED of Modbus/LonTalks/TCP/IP module is designed and fabricated. This article addresses issues in architecture of LonWorks/Ethernet sever, embedded processors architecture for converting Modbus protocol to LonTalks protocol, integrating preconfigured software, and Internet technologies. It is also verified that the multi-induction motor control and monitoring system using LonWorks/Ethernet server have available, interoperable, reliable performance characteristics from the experimental results, especially, the seamless integration of TCP/IP networks with control networks allows access to any control point from anywhere. Thus, the results provide available technical data for remote distributed motor control system of industrial field or building microgrid with LonWorks BAS.
Remote Calibration Control and Monitoring System for Conveyor Scale using LabVIEW

In general, electronic conveyor scales are installed in a relatively distributed manner on the crushed rock and sand production site. It is one of the time-consuming and difficult engineering works to monitor and control the plant operation status such as the management of measuring data, malfunction of belt conveyor, and fault of electronic conveyor scale. Therefore, to alleviate the inefficient problems and to monitor the operating plant in the online and remote control room, a remote calibration and real-time monitoring system, which is practically applied to the electronic conveyor scale system and verified by onsite experiment, is developed based on the LabVIEW.
Experimental Examinations on Protective Effects of SPDs Associated with the Protective Distance and Type of Load

Surge protective devices(SPDs) are widely used as a most effective means protecting the electrical and electronic equipment against overvoltages such as lightning and switching surges. When installing SPDs, it is essential that the voltage protection level provided by SPDs should be lower than the withstand voltage of the equipment being protected. But even the proper selection of SPDs are achieved, the voltage at the equipment terminal may be higher than the residual voltage of SPD due to the reflection and oscillation phenomena. This paper was focused on the investigations of the conditions for which the equipment is protected by an SPD taking into account the influences of the protective distance and type of load. The protective effects of SPD with voltage-limiting component were analyzed as functions of types of load and protective distance between the SPD and load. As a result, in the cases of long protective distances, capacitive loads and loads with high resistance, the voltage at the load terminal was significantly higher than the residual voltage of SPD. It was found that the proper installation of SPDs should be carried out by taking into account the protective distance and type of load to achieve reliable protection of electronic equipments against surges.
Design and Implementation of a Biped Robot using Neural Network

This research is to apply the control of neuron networks for the real-time walking control of Multi-articulated robot. Multi-articulated robot is expressed with a complicated mathematical model on account of the mechanic, electric non-linearity which each articulation of mechanism has, and includes an unstable factor in time of walking control. If such a complex expression is included in control operation, it leads to the disadvantage that operation time is lengthened. Thus, if the rapid change of the load or the disturbance is given, it is difficult to fulfill the control of desired performance. This paper proposes a new mode to implement a neural network controller by installing a real object for controlling and an algorithm for this, which can replace the existing method of implementing a neural network controller by utilizing activation function at the output node. The proposed control algorithm generated control signs corresponding to the non-linearity of Multi-articulated robot, which could generate desired motion in real time.
Analysis of Transient Voltage by Lightning Stroke at 345kV Step-up Transformer

Typically, large scale power generation facilities are linked to 345kV transmission line through a step-up transformer. If the value of transient voltage by generating lightning stroke is large more than electric equipment's BIL, devices insulation is destroyed. LA(Lighting Arrester) is used as a main means of prevention. However, the installation of LA takes the constraints of installation place and expensive installation costs. Therefore, we need to carefully study whether installation of installation can be omitted and the most efficient place of installation. In this paper, we simulated the transient voltage detected by lightning stroke at each equipments in the 345kV transmission power grid by using EMTP-RV program.

This paper propose the advanced topology of UPQC, its DC link is connected with Lithium battery, to compensate the momentary interruptions. The proposed system can be operated as UPS mode using the parallel inverter, which control the charge or discharge of battery, in case of the interruption. We dvelop 100kVA UPQC using the proposed topology to rise the power quality and the reliability of Microgrid. We verify its usefulness through voltage compensation test, UPS operation test and etc. using Microgrid test facility.
Review of Design Components of Recharging Infrastructure for Electrical Vehicles in Apartments

Electric vehicles (EVs) are the most promising alternative substitute to a significant amount of gasoline vehicles for climate friendly transportation. This paper conducted an EV consumer survey through the telephone for 200 residents living in apartments to predict the EV penetration level in the year 2020. The results of EV consumer survey revealed that EV will be penetrated to 10% of the total vehicles in rental apartments and to 23.6% of the total vehicles in apartments for sale(condominium) until 2020. High EV penetration level, however, will lead to an increase of power consumption and over loading of electrical installations. Integrating more electric vehicles, the capacity of transformer related in apartments should be checked to prevent the over loading of the transformer. This paper checked the possibility of over loading at transformer and suggested the load control system as one of the solutions to reduce the over loading of transformers in apartments. Also this paper reviewed other components that should be checked in the designing of EV recharging infrastructure in apartments.
