The Research of the 2nd Lens Design for Wide Angle Distribution

Recently an optical diffusion of LED lamps has been studied actively. In this paper, the second lens applied to a cover of the LED lamp was analytically designed to having a wide angle distribution of light without diffuser characteristic by dispersing agent. In this process, We found a major factors that can help improve the performance of the lens. It is the refractive power of the lens, the Mie particle density of phosphor, and the arrangement of the LED. Through the final simulation, we can see the LED lamp is possible to get wide angle light distribution by proper source modeling and second lens designing. Also, we can see this simulated results are entirely consistent with measured data for light distribution. In this research, we present the shape of the second lens with wide angle distribution and derive the important factors for the second lens design.
Study on Birefringence Effect Of Single-Mode Fiber on Output Spectra of High-Order Fiber Comb Filter Based on Polarization-Diversity Loop Configuration

In this paper, we investigated possible optical parameters causing deviation of experimentally observed output spectra from theoretically predicted results in a high-order fiber comb filter based on a polarization-diversity loop configuration. They include wavelength dependency of half-wave plates (HWPs) inserted in the filter for wavelength switching and the modal birefringence of single-mode fibers (SMFs) with which optical components comprising the filter are connected. In order to consider the effect of the modal birefringence of the SMF on a filter performance, it is modeled as a low birefringence fiber with an arbitrary orientation angle and birefringence. It is found from the simulation results that the modal birefringence of SMFs strongly affects the spectral characteristics of the filter and decreases the extinction ratio of the filter, compared with the wavelength dependency of HWPs. In particular, it is also confirmed that the spectral deviation and asymmetric distortions of side-lobes in narrow band transmission spectra result mainly from the modal birefringence of SMFs.
Characteristics of Output Voltage and Input Current of Quasi Z-Source Converter with a Diode-Capacitor Output Filter

This paper proposes a quasi Z-source converter(QZSC) with a diode-capacitor output filter to improve the output DC voltage boost ability. The proposed converter has the same quasi Z-source network topology compared with the conventional converter. But the proposed method is adopted a diode-capacitor filter as its output filter, since the conventional method is used an inductor-capacitor as its output filter. Under the condition of the same input-output DC voltage, the proposed method has more lower shoot-through duty ratio than the conventional method. Also, because the proposed converter has same voltage boost factor under lower shoot-through duty ratio compared with the conventional converter, the proposed converter can be operated with the lower capacitor voltage of Z-source network and the lower input current. To confirm the validity of the proposed method, PSIM simulation and a DSP based experiment were performed to acquire the output DC voltage 120[V] under the input DC voltage 80[V]. And the capacitor voltage and inductor current in Z-source network, the output voltage of each converter were compared and discussed.
Development of the High Voltage Converter for the Pulsed Light Sterilization

As the demand for the fresh non-thermal food is increased, it is required to develop the fast and perfect sterilization method. The conventional sterilization method using ultraviolet lamp has some disadvantages such as imperfect sterilization and longer process time. In this research, IPL(Intense Pulsed Light) sterilization system is introduced to overcome the drawbacks of the conventional system, and suitable power supply architecture for the system is discussed. Since the IPL sterilization system uses Zenon lamps which requires the 600~2,100[V] for the lightning and 16~30[kV] for the trigger, the converter for the system should be able to generate the high voltage and to discharge the large amount of energy instantaneously. In this research a new power system architecture which has a modified forward converter topology with two switches for generating high voltage and a capacitor bank to control the energy for the lightning by switching is introduced.
A Study on the Analysis and Limitations of the Same Phase Identification Under 3-Phase Unbalanced Constant Current Loads

In this paper, the necessity for the identification of the absolute phase value is introduced and analyzed for a particular conductor line of a 3-phase type distribution network and the recent methods are also introduced. For the determination of the exact phase value for a specific point in the line, as compared with the phase reference point, the measured phase value must be within a range of
. However, the phase of a particular point can fluctuate depending on the line constant, transformer wiring method, line length, line amperage, etc. A theoretical formulation such as Simulink modeling and analysis for a distribution network are conducted for the identification of phase at a specific point in the line. In particular, through evaluating the effects of unbalanced current loads at the time of determination of the phase value, the limitations of the present method for the determination of phases is described.
A Section Load Management Method using Daily Load Curve in Distribution Systems

DAS(Distribution Automation System) is equipped with several software applications such as service restoration, loss minimization, and protective relay coordination. The software applications of DAS are very sensitive to the amount of section load being carried by a particular section of distribution lines. Moreover, each software application requires a different parameter of the section load according to its purpose. Therefore, This paper proposes a new section load management method using real-time measurement data of the distribution lines. In order to provide accurate data to DAS applications, this method considers section loads in terms of the relationship of power versus time. In order to establish that the proposed method is feasible, a performance-testing simulator was developed, and case studies were conducted for a modified real distribution network.

A conductor has been produced according to IEC standard and low voltage electrical facility has been installed according to IEC 60364. But because of many related and varied standards, it is difficult to apply to design and inspect for electrical equipment. We researched the necessity of design guide which is detailed and systematization from survey. For detailed design guide, we suggest application method and review items at calculations for voltage drop calculations on low voltage feeder by IEC 60364, BS 7671 standard and Consumer's Electrical Installation Guide.
The study on Reactor Parameters of Atmosphere Plasma Power Supply

This paper presents a digital control solution which can extract the reactor parameters in atmosphere plasma power supply. The critical issue of the atmosphere plasma power supply is a impedance matching. For the impedance matching, the reactor parameters should be known, but the parameters depend on the reactors. Therefore, the reactor parameters have to measure for the impedance matching. The proposed method is performed by detection of phase difference between inverter voltage and current, and extraction of impedance through active, reactive power.
A Study on the Improvement of Energy Efficiency in Warehouses

The main sources of energy consumption in warehouses are MHE(Material Handling Equipment), HVAC(Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) and Lighting. Warehouses in advanced countries raise energy efficiencies with energy consumption diagnosis, technology development and systematic management and improvements for MHE, HVAC and Illuminating, etc. They have managed illuminating system, air conditioning, motor driven system, air circulation method, dock facility, layout, AS/RS, conveyor system and battery management, etc. Ansong Pyeongtaek area investigation resulted that 43.9[%] of enterprises are managing partly energy consumption source. But the data resulted with not substantial management of energy consumption but passive management for only electric bill curtailment. Therefore through survey research & visiting interviews of some companies in Ansong Pyeongtaek area, we understood the status of energy consumption source management and proposed energy efficiency methods on the basis of that results.
The LED Lighting Control Method Base on DALI Protocol by the Phase Angle Control

Generally, the phase control dimmer has been widely used due to simple interface and easy handling. However, the electrical characteristics are not good for the method in which the phase control dimmer cuts the input voltage. This paper has researched about DALI(Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) controller, that is the digital lighting control method, and implemented DALI protocol satisfied with the IEC-62386 standard. In addition, the existing phase control dimmer was used as the controller of DALI and not only individual control but also group control was possible. And the performance was proved to be good by applying our theory to 30[W] LED lighting control system.
Analysis Technique of Risk Voltage around Grounding Electrode by New Touch and Step Voltage Measurement Methods

This paper describes the analysis technique of risk voltage around grounding electrode by new touch and step voltage measurement methods. We have analyzed three techniques for risk voltage measurement, such as footprint-electrode method, test-probe method, and simulated-personnel method. We have selected test-probe method considering applicability of site. In order to reduce error related to the location of the auxiliary electrode, we propose a new approach to perform risk voltage measurement with minimum errors and short auxiliary electrode distances. Field tests were carried out at a grounding grid. It can be concluded that the proposed method will be satisfactory for risk voltage measurement.
A Design of Effective Analog-to-Digital Converter Using RC Circuit for Configuration of I2C Slave Chip Address

In this paper, we propose an analog-to-digital converter to set the address of a I2C slave chip. The proposed scheme converts a fixed voltage between 0 and VDD to the digital value which can be used as the address of the slave chip. The rising time and the falling time are measured with digital counter in a serially connected RC circuit, while the circuit is being charged and discharged with the voltage to be measured. The ratio of the two measured values is used to get the corresponding digital value. This scheme gives a strong point which is to be implementable all the parts except comparator using digital logic. Although the method utilizes RC circuit, it has no relation with the RC value if the quantization error is disregarded. Experimental result shows that the proposed scheme gives 32-level resolution thus it can be used to configure the address of the I2C slave chip.
Reducing Harmonics of the Next-generation High-speed Railway Inverter System by Random Pulse Position Modulation Technique based on Space Vector Modulation

In this paper, The Next Generation High Speed Railway inverter system based on IPMSM drives using Random Pulse Position Modulation is proposed to reduce electromagnetic noise. To verify the validity of study, the simulator for the proposed system is designed and impplemented. Simulation program is developed using Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results of the proposed system was compared with the system using conventional method. The results show that the voltage and current harmonics of the proposed Next Generation High Speed Railway Inverter system. significantly decrease and spread into wide band area by the proposed Random Pulse Position modulation technique based on Space Vector Modulation method.
