LED Driving Circuit using Charge Pump for Voltage Distribution

In this paper, a new LED driving circuit which is able to control dimming of LED is proposed using charge pump. The proposed LED driving circuit steps down the input voltage to operate LED without DC-DC converter. The operation of this driving circuit is verified by P-Spice simulation, and the characteristics of the driving circuit is measured and evaluated in the experiments. As a result, the driving circuit efficiency of 88.5[%] is obtained when all LEDs are turned on by digital control method at the highest dimming level(255/255).

Unlike traditional lightings, LED lighting is one of objects that sends user an emotional segments through brightness control from various color temperature and dimming control. Also, within present interior lighting environment, emotional researches about traditional fluorescent lamp and newly implemented LED lighting environment are in active progress. Despite the fact adjectives describing emotions and scale modeling have been repeatedly used in many cases for a long time, there seems to be a lack of results in reliability, and there is a limitation for applying into actual lighting design. The purpose of this study is to construct an actual sized test-bed, which is used to draw out one`s emotional words of behavior patterns from inner emotional experiences about lighting environment in an office space. Also, having fluorescent lamp and LED lighting as the main test subjects, we have tested emotional parts according to the changes of color temperature and adjective vocabularies chosen from user`s action, and we have compared and analyzed the drawn out data. Analysis of TV Standby Power for Development of Energy Efficiency Standard

Recently, there have been suggestions that power factor should be considered to increase the efficiency of electric power supply when evaluating the performance of the electric appliances in standby mode and the related studies have been conducted to improve the efficiency standard of standby power. But, they lack the analysis of the standby power characteristics with the changes of power factor. This study is conducted to analyze the standby power characteristics of TV which is a typical home appliance and reaches a conclusion that the apparent power can be a more reasonable index which reflects the efficiency of electric power supply. It is also found that LED TVs show the best performance in standby mode. Moreover, an example to set standby power standards on TVs to be applied in the future is suggested, considering the energy efficiency policies for appliances.
MPPT Control of Photovoltaic using Variable IC Method

This paper proposes variable incremental conductance(IC) algorithm for maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control of photovoltaic. The conventional perturbation & observation(PO) and IC MPPT control algorithm generally uses fixed step size. A small step size reduces a tracking error in the steady state but slows a tracking speed in the transient state. Also, a large step size is fast a tracking speed but increases a tracking error. Therefore, this paper proposes variable IC MPPT algorithm that adjust automatically step size according to operating conditions. To improve a tracking speed and accuracy, when operating point is far from the maximum power point(MPP), the step size uses maximum value and when a operating point is near from the MPP, the step size uses variable step size that adjust according to slope of P-V curve. The validity of MPPT algorithm proposed in this paper prove through compare with conventional PO and IC MPPT algorithm.

As automation equipment and electronic device progresses, the importance of power quality is more increasing. This paper represents the analysis and suppression about the causes of trouble by the inverter`s ON/OFF noise in plant in order to prevent damage resulting in a secondary damage to conduct precise diagnosis and effective noise reduction. The countermeasure as a reduced carrier frequency and the LC resonant filter had been applied and confirmed the effective results to solve the trouble of noise.

Grid-connected photovoltaic generator system requires high performance PCS(Power Conditioning System) according to the standard of `Distributed Generation Grid-Connected Technology Standards`. This paper presents the MPPT control method which improves output efficiency through fast tracking to the maximum power point of PV and a reduced self-excited vibration. Secondly, in this paper DVR function was applied to PCS to compensate the voltage sag frequently happening for a power system. The proposed PCS control is analyzed and compared to conventional PCS operating characteristic, the various insolation and loads, and voltage sag condition through PSIM tool. It proves the utility.
Grounding Resistance Measurement and Analysis of Building Structures for Applying as Safety Earthing

Grounding is very important for electrical safety. But it is very difficult to secure enough space for the installation and management of grounding in the city because of the congestion of the buildings. Therefore, to solve this problem, this paper suggest structure-grounding application taking advantage of building structure as protective grounding. And, to verify its feasibility, this paper shows the result to measure and analyze grounding-resistance of structure for 12 buildings mainly structed in the city.
Development of a Novel MPPT Algorithm of PV System Considering Radiation Variation

This paper proposes a novel maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control algorithm considering radiation to improve efficiency of PV system. The proposed algorithm is composed perturb and observe (PO) method and constant voltage (CV) method. PO method is simple to realize and CV method is possible to tracking MPP with low radiation. Response characteristics of proposed algorithm are compared to conventional MPPT algorithm such as PO method, IC method and CV method with radiation variation. This paper proves the validity of proposed algorithm through the analysis results.
Characteristics Analysis for Reactor Starting Method of 3-Phase Induction Motor Considering Saturation

Induction motor is the most widely used to obtain the driving force in the industrial site. Induction motor generates a high current at startup. Most of starting currents are often more than five times of rated current. This high starting current can cause problems such as the voltage drop in the system. In order to solve these problems, if the motor capacity is large, generally we use reactor starting method rather than direct on line starting method. When a high startup current passes through reactor, reactor can serve as a nonlinear elements. In this study, we analyzed that the current, torque and power of the induction motor are different from the change of linear and nonlinear components of the reactor magnetic field.

Recently, it is increased to apply sensorless drive for BLDC (Brushless DC) motor to maximize operating efficiency and fuel efficiency to an electrical component of (H)EV. Especially, Electric vehicle component promotes a fuel efficiency enhancement by the carbon dioxide emissions regulation of a vehicle becoming the principal of the environmental pollution globally, the oil price hike that continued increasingly. We suggested the air compressor which applied BLDC motor for electric vehicle component and compared suggested BLDC motor with the conventional DC motor. The experimental results show that the driving efficiency was increased and was inproved compressive force by suggested BLDC motor.

Currently, The method to produce a brewing body for dentistry supplementation water produces a brewing body by fabrication, burying and it is heat wish in city gas and oxygen. It uses an original judgment found airplane the brewing body uses a spring of the back wait that melting temperature dissolved various alloys in by a blow pipe, and to generate centrifugal force and produces it. In addition, because it uses preheating to dissolve an alloy in general, it is hard to regulate the appropriate melting temperature of the alloy and brewing time and generates a brewing defect hereby same as gas industry and pinhole and shows the defect of the supplementation thing due to the super-heating. In this paper, We developed the high induction heating system which it could set brewing time,temperature and had durability and security,by the kind of the alloy to produce a high quality prosthetic thing brewing body.
Dynamic Response Improvement Method for Combustion Air Flow Control in Coal Fired Power Plant

When controling combustion air flow in coal fired power plant the furnace safety must be considered first prior to plant efficiency. therefore it is very important to set air flow demand exactly for safe operation and maintenance. This paper analyze air flow control loop in power plant and introduce the method to improve dynamic response time. Simulation result shows this scheme is adoptable and provide better performance.
The Development of Surge Protection Circuit Applying SCR for Improving Reliability

A surge protection device of the metal oxide varistor(MOV) has been commonly used for preventing electrical damage in many electronic equipments. The MOV has a property that leakage current is increased and might be permanently damaged when it is exposed continuously to the electrical stresses such as lightening surges. In this paper, we propose a novel surge protection circuit adopting a silicon controlled rectifier(SCR) in the traditional protection circuits using the MOV device simultaneously. When lightning surges are injected to the proposed circuit, the MOV lets the surge pulses bypassing through the ground at first up to the level that SCR begins to operate. Above the threshold level of turning on the SCR, the SCR operates bypasses large surge currents to the ground. Proposed circuit was verified with a leakage current experiment and PSpice circuit simulations under the repeated surge injection environment.
Analysis on Installation Conditions Survey and Improvement of Drain Pump in Air-Conditioner : Focusing on Changwon City

This paper was carried out to survey fire hazard and improvement at the drain pump in air-conditioners. Based on the results of analysis, the proposal of electrical accidents prevention and a construction improvement are as follows. A power connection of the drain pump has two types, an electrical outlet type and direct connection type at control board of air-conditioner. The electrical outlet types need a bulletin sign or education as malfunction of the drain pump include an additional accidents, current leakage and overflowing with water on the floor from breaker trip by exterior cause and breaker off by mistake of worker. On the other hand, the direct connection types prevent a power interruption as exterior cause, but it has some trouble, cut of ground cable and without protection device. Usually it doesn`t work by electrician when air-conditioner and the drain pump power work. Therefore an education or countermeasures are recommended for not electrician. Generally malfunction of the drain pump causes accumulated materials into the tank. Even though the accumulated materials lead to an overheating and burning as failure of detector occur an idling, periodic inspection of the air-conditioner filter and the drain pump tank prevent the trouble.
