A Study on White LED Lighting of Interior Space for the Readability by Age

The experimental study of the white LED lighting focused on the readability in interior space according to age group is conducted realizing importance of the lighting environment and necessity of lighting study depending on the user situation. The results of study represent that a teenager does not show sensitive reaction to change of the color temperature and illuminance. The people in 20s and 30s prefer neutral white LED lighting and are very sensitive to change of the light environment. The people in 50s and 60s prefer high illumination and cool white LED lighting series. People of all ages highly appraise 6000K of 700 lux and 4000K in the illuminance range of 700 lux to 1000 lux for readability. The white LED lighting of color temperature 4000K is estimated as a suitable environment for readability in a wide range of illumination.
Experimental Study on Living Room Lighting Environment for Residential Activities

This study performed a subjective evaluation of the Semantic Differential (SD) method for living room activities to evaluate the living room lighting environment and investigated the relationship between these through luminance distribution in the space. As a result, three factors-"lightness", "emotion" and "calmness"-have been grouped together. According to the analysis of experimental variables, difference has been observed depending on color temperature, the dimming of the ceiling & cove lights and the use of down lights and a bracket. `Conversation with Family`, `Having Fun with Family`, `Entertaining Guests` and `Reading a Book or Newspaper` requires "lightness". In terms of "emotion"-centered activities, `Watching TV` is the highest, but all three factors are related. In terms of "calmness"-centered activities, `Relaxing` is the highest.

The BESS(Battery Energy Storage System) is an useful device for load leveling, but the high cost, installation space and safety issues are the main barriers for supplying it widely. The important factor in supplying BESS to customers successfully is the payback period. As most of the H/W cost factors are uncontrollable, the optimization of storage volume can be useful factor in improving payback period. In order to obtain optimized BESS volume, the load factor, demand ratio, peak shaving ratio, electric rates and benefits from DR participation of customer should be analyzed. In this paper, we could verify the peak cutting capability and cost effectiveness under the some proposed conditions and changing value of PCS and battery based on the customers data after volume optimization process was applied, and we can identified the saturation point of load factor and shortening of customer`s payback period.
A Study of Hood-Type Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Embedded to Highway Median Strip

This paper introduces the study of hood-type wind turbine embedded on highway median strip. Recently, many studies are being made to apply to small wind turbine in city. This study is wind turbine producing electricity generated from the wind by running cars. In order to analyze wind generated by running cars, we measured experiments using running cars and buses. Also, using CFD and interpreter program, we analysis wind turbines performance and applied to the twist-sabonius blade. This wind turbine attached to safety lamp on the road is produced to use electricity generated through the wind tunnel experiment. In this paper results, this wind turbine system is expected to produce the power source installed the heat ray and safety lamps on the road.
Development of a Transmission/Distribution Integrated Analysis Hybrid Algorithm for System Operation Platform Including Distributed Generation

Owing to the increase in the penetration of distributed generation the DGs connected to the distribution system have an effect on the system conditions of the transmission system and neighboring distribution systems. This makes the separate analysis of the transmission and distribution system no longer valid and requires the consideration of both the system in the analysis process. This paper proposes a transmission/distribution integrated analysis hybrid algorithm that would ensure the accurate analysis of the system by reflecting the results of the transmission and distribution system analysis on each other. Different scenarios are being analysed in order to verify the effectiveness of the hybrid algorithm by observing the effects of the DG connected distribution system on the transmission system and neighboring distribution systems. The algorithm and simulations performed are being conducted by MATLAB and the IEEE 30 bus system and a test distribution system has been utilized for the transmission and distribution systems respectively.
Numerical Calculation of Longitudinal Current Distribution in Grounding Electrode for Analyzing the Grounding Impedance

The current distribution passing through grounding electrode is required for calculating an impedance of grounding electrode using the electromagnetic field model. In this paper the numerical calculation for currents passing through a grounding electrode as a function of frequency was given. The proposed approach is based on the wire antenna model(AM) in the frequency domain. The Pocklington`s equation driven from the wire antenna theory was numerically calculated by the Galerkin`s method. The triangle function was applied to both the basis function and the weighting function. The current distribution of a horizontal ground electrode was simulated in MATLAB. Also these results were compared with the data obtained from the CDEGS HIFREQ calculation.
A study on Active Power Filter Available for DC-Link Boost and Power Factor Control

In this paper, a control algorithm for active power filter (APF), which compensates for the harmonics and power factor, boosting the DC-link voltage is proposed. The proposed scheme employs a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) voltage-source inverter. A simple algorithm to detect the load current harmonics is also proposed. The APF and charging circuit are implemented in one inverter system. Finally, the validity of the proposed scheme is investigated with simulated and experimental results for a prototype APF system rated at 3kVA.
Design of Improved Switch Point Heating System for Low Power and Simplified Equipment

The turnout point system is installed to separate the main rail track from other tracks in rail load stations. It is also important to set up the switch point system to change the direction of the turnout point, to lead and change the direction of tracks. The switch point system can be negatively affected by heavy snow during winter seasons which can cause critical safety problems. Furthermore, the maintenance and repair of the conventional system is prohibitively expensive due to its complexity and high probability of failure. In this paper, an efficient switch point system is proposed which simplifies the equipment structure and lowers the cost for maintenance and repair, while improving safety and performance of the rail road system.
Application of Newton`s Approach for Transient Stability Improvement by Using Generation Rescheduling

This paper presents a scheme to improve transient stability using Newton`s Approach for generation rescheduling. For a given contingency, the energy margin and sensitivities are computed. The bigger energy margin sensitivity of generator is, the more the generation of the generator effects to the transient stability. According to energy margin sensitivity, the control variables of generation rescheduling are selected. The fuel cost function is used as objective function to reallocate power generation. The results are compared to the results of time simulation to show its the effectiveness.
A Study on the Estimation of the Resonance Frequency for an Active Damping Technique of Grid Connected Converters

The renewable energy sources is raising for use of grid connected systems, for which higher power quality requirements are being issued. A grid connected converter requires a LC-filter stage, this one is lightly damped for efficiency constraints. Hence, it is subject to resonance if excited by the converter current harmonics or pre-exciting grid voltage harmonics. In this paper, an active damping technique employing notch filter for damping of the resonance frequency is introduced. This technique doesn`t need to additional sensors. In addition, it is simple to apply for various systems. Monitoring of the resonance frequency ensures the stable operation of the proper connection and disconnection of the grid. This paper proposes the estimating method of a resonant frequency to determine the cut-off frequency of the notch filter. This method is validated by both simulation and experimental results.

This paper studied surface discharge characteristics by a dielectric constant and diameter of solid dielectrics in
mixture gas. Applied electric field strength at
mixture gas was changed from the dielectric constant and diameter of the solid dielectrics, and insulation performance of the
mixture gas determined surface discharge voltage. In each of the diameter at the solid dielectrics, the surface discharge voltage was increased by lengthening surface distance, whereas increasing rate of the surface discharge voltage was different from gas pressure. Thus, In this paper, main factors of surface discharge are as follows. 1) Insulation performance of
mixture gas, 2) Dielectric constant of solid dielectrics, 3) Surface discharge path. It was clear that the surface discharge voltage depend on the main factors. These results will be applied to useful data for an eco-friendly composite insulation design.
A Study on RF Network-Based Guard Light System with Bidirectional Control

In this paper, Completely beyond the existing conventional Guard Light management system, introduced the 447Mhz band wireless sensor network Guard Light to manage efficiently the shape of the new system is proposed. In addition, about wireless sensor network technology, control server technology, application layer protocol technology etc which is core technology for the proposed system configuration, it was verified by the design and experiment. Especially studying wireless Guard Light System(about 1,700 node configuration) commercially installed in the Daegu area as a results of the study, I would like to prove the effectiveness of the study.
Theoretical Study of the Circuits for Device of the High Voltage Pulse Generator

The high-voltage pulse generator is consist of transformers of fundamental wave and harmonic waves, and shunt capacitances. The pulse has the fundamental wave and the harmonic waves that have been increased as a series circuit by the transformers to make high voltage pulse. This paper shows that pulse generator circuit is analyzed using Miller`s theorem and network theory(ABCD Matrix) and simulated in frequency and time domain using Matlab program. The output voltage of pulse were obtained to 2.5kHz, 1.8kV. Output pulse voltage increases as
increases in low voltage circuit. In high voltage circuit, outer capacitors are related to frequency band pass characteristics.
Errors of Proportional Shifting due to Simplified Equivalent Circuit of a 3-Phase Induction Motor

It is well known that the maximum torque of a 3-phase induction motor does not vary as the resistance of rotor varies by proportional shifting. However, proportional shifting is derived using simplified equivalent circuit of induction motor. Therefore, there are some errors in the torque characteristics shown in the text book. This paper presents the torque characteristics using not simplified equivalent circuit but equivalent circuit. Errors produced by simplified equivalent circuit are presented.
