Design of the Lens Structure for COB type LED Safety Luminaires

The study carried out in this dissertation focuses on the lens structure design and the light distribution for LED safety luminaires using COB type LED module. Lens structures for LED lights has been designed 1) to induce light diffusion by dual process of internal reflection and refraction, 2) to minimize the inherent LED lights' glittering, and 3) to have uniform brightness. The lens designed with the proposed structures function as diffusers for the divergence of the LED lights so that they form a wide angle of view and adjust the light distribution. We designed of lens with stable uniformity factor and average roughness using aspheric optics property. Finally we made the analysis data of the simulated data.

With low carbon and green growth as the policy indicator, Korea has been concentrating on a variety of researches and technical development as well as recommending the LED lighting facility as part of Green Energy policy to cope with the environment and energy crisis. While the interest on LED has been increasing, the development of LED is still in its early stage and researches on diverse aspects of LED are not sufficiently implemented. Thus, this paper aimed to get the data that would help the expansion of LED lighting by comparing and analyzing the awareness and knowledge level of the public and experts on LED lighting.

In this paper the experiments of breakdown characteristics by pressure and gap change of imitation air were described. The results are fundamental data for electric insulation design of distribution power facilities which will be studied and developed in the future. And we could make an environment friendly gas insulation material with mataining dielectric strength by Imitation Air which generates a lower lever of the global warming effect.
Analysis of Postural Stability During Continuous External Perturbations

The functional behaviors of human standing postural control were investigated when they were exposed to long-term horizontal vibration in the sagittal plane. For complexity of human postural control, a useful alternative method that has been based on a black-box approach was taken; that is, where the feedback mechanism was lumped into a single element. A motor-driven support platform was designed as a source of vibration. The AC Servo-controlled motors produced continuous anterior/posterior (AP) motion. The data were analyzed both in the time and frequency domain. The cross-correlation and coherency functions were estimated. Subjects behaved as a non-rigid pendulum with a mass and a spring throughout the whole period of the platform motion, as consistent with the plan chosen for this study.
Research on Assessment Method of Deterioration Condition for Power Transformer Using Sweep Frequency Response Analyzer

This paper describes the assessment method of deterioration condition for a power transformer using SFRA. Frequency Response Analysis(FRA) is a method to evaluate the mechanical and geometrical integrity of the core and windings within a power transformer by measuring the electrical transfer functions over a wide frequency range. SFRA is sweep frequency response analyzer for power transformer winding diagnosis. The FRA is a comparative method, that evaluates the transformer condition by comparing the obtained set of FRA results to reference results on the same, or a similar, unit. FRA techniques were widely used and much more sensitive than the traditional and internationally accepted method of impedance measurements, but that work was required on standardization and interpretation. In order to analyze the deterioration condition for power transformer, overvoltage test and mechanical distortion test were carried out. The deterioration condition for power transformer was evaluated by SFRA. It is intended to present the elemental technology of assessment method for power transformer using SFRA.
Development of Single-phase Brushless DC Motor with Outer Rotor for Ventilation Fan

This paper is development of single-phase brushless DC motor with outer rotor for ventilation fan. Cogging torque causes the noise vibration to greatest impact on ventilation fan. Asymmetric notches are applied to tapered-teeth for cogging torque reduction of single-phase brushless DC motor. Initial model is notchless and proposed model is applied 2 asymmetric notches. The proposed method is proved motor characteristic through finite element analysis(FEA). Also, experimental results verify that the proposed model considerably reduces cogging torque and have the good sound quality in ventilation system.
Open Loop Responses of Posture Complexity in Biomechanics

The reactionary responses to control human standing dynamics were estimated under the assumption that postural complexity mainly occurs in the mid-sagittal plane. During the experiment, the subject was exposed to continuous horizontal perturbation. The ankle and hip joint rotations of the subject mainly contributed to maintaining standing postural control. The designed mobile platform generated anterior/posterior (AP) motion. Non-predictive random translation was used as input for the system. . The measured data were analyzed in the frequency domain by the coherence function and the frequency response function to estimate its dynamic responses. The significant correlation found between the input and output of the postural control system. The frequency response function revealed prominent resonant peaks within its frequency spectrum and magnitude. Subjects behaved as a non-rigid two link inverted pendulum. The analyzed data are consistent with the outcome hypothesized for this study.
A Study on the Operation Condition by Electrical Fault in the High Temperature Fuel Cell Plant

High temperature fuel cell system, such as molten carbonate fuel cells(MCFC) and solid oxide fuel cells(SOFC), are capable of operating at MW rated power output. The power output change of high temperature fuel cell imposes the thermal and mechanical stresses on the fuel cell stack. To minimize the thermal-mechanical stresses on the stack, increases in the power output of high temperature fuel cell typically must be made at a slow rate. So, the short time interruption of high temperature fuel cell causes considerable generated energy losses. Because of the characteristic of high temperature fuel cell, we analyzed the impact of electrical fault in the fuel cell plant on other fuel cell generators in the same plant site. A various grounding configuration and voltage sag are analyzed. Finally, we presented the solution to minimize the effect of fault on other fuel cell generators.
A Probabilistic Sampling Method for Wind-Speed Considering the Wind-Speed Correlation between Wind-farms

The wind-speeds among geographically close wind-farms have high correlations seasonally. This paper presents a novel wind-speed sampling method which sincerely reflects the correlation among wind-speeds of different wind-farms. In the proposed method, the wind-speed samples are generated through the statistical data analysis of the measured past wind-speed data and are adequate to be applied to generation adequacy assessment based on random sampling. In the proposed method, the specific probability distribution need not to be assumed and sufficiently accurate wind-speed samples can be generated based only on the measured past data. The proposed method is applied to the two wind-farm problem to show its applicability.
A Study on the Power Loss Monitoring Methods with AMI systems

Major utilities have been focusing on R&D and nationwide business of AMI system which plays a vital role in SmartGrid whose concept is to maximize energy efficiency and optimize electric power facility management with exchanging real time information between utilities and consumers based on ICT technologies in power grid. In this paper, we suggest a power loss monitoring method using KEPCO's AMI system which is operating in fields and with the acquisition of AMI data and analyses verify the validation of a power loss monitoring method.
FBG sensor system for condition monitoring of wind turbine blades

We propose a fiber grating sensor system for condition monitoring of large scale wind turbine blades. For the feasibility test of the proposed sensor system, a down-scaled wind turbine has been constructed and experimented. Fiber grating sensors were attached on a blade surface for distributed strain and temperature measurements. An optical rotary joint was used to transmit optical signals between the FBG sensor array and the signal processing unit. Instead of broadband light source, we used a wavelength-swept fiber laser to obtain high output power density. A spectrometer demodulation is used to alleviate the nonlinear wavelength tuning problem of the laser source. With the proposed sensor system we could measure dynamic strain and temperature profiles at multi-positions of rotating wind turbine blades.
Discharge Characteristics of Air according to the Shapes of Rod Electrode in the Rod-Plane Gap having Flame on the Plane Electrode

In this paper, discharge characteristics of air in the vertical arrangement of three rods(dome-shaped, cylinder-shaped, and needle-shaped rod) and plane gap having propane flame on the plane electrode are examined under the application of a.c. and d.c. high-voltages. As the result of the experiment, flashover voltages in the presence of the flame are substantially lowered than those in the absence of flame, and relative a.c. flashover voltages in the dome-shaped, cylinder-shaped, and needle-shaped rod gaps are found 32.5%, 32.1%, and 26.4% respectively. The polarity effects with the d.c. voltages are shown, and flashover voltages in negative polarity are much lowered than those in positive one. The negative flashover voltages in the dome-shaped and cylinder-shaped gaps are found 18.3% and 18.7% respectively, but the positive ones are found 53.5% and 43.2% respectively. In the needle-shaped rod gaps, meanwhile, the flame is extinguished by corona wind, and the quenching voltages are found 28.4% under the application of a.c. voltages. The ion winds of corona and the reduction of air density are the main factors of flashover reduction owing to the flame in the case of a.c. voltages, but the electrifications of the positive ion by thermal ionization besides the above factors are remarkably found in the case of d.c. voltages.
A Development of Intelligent Metering and Control System for Energy Management of Electric Cabinet Panel

In recent years, the many electric saving methods are studied because of difficulty of meeting the demand. The electric energy management such as monitoring of branch power consumption, demand control, metering, power quality monitoring, electric safety monitoring can make energy saving. The purpose of this paper is to develop a system which can provide the integrated management of various functions required for energy management by consumers. In this system all functions which were embodied into each devices are integrated into intelligent meter. The developed systems are tested and implemented by installing at consumer electric distribution panel.
A Study of General AC Machine Modeling with Matrix Vector Using DQ Transformation

AC machines are in wide use in industry and d-q transformation from 3 phase of a, b, c is commonly used to analyze these kinds of machines. The equivalent circuits of d and q axis are, however, generally cross coupled and difficult to analyze. In this study, a modeling technique of AC machine including induction and PM synchronous motors using matrix vector is proposed. With that model, it can not only explain the AC machines physically but also make it simple to analyze them. The separating process of d and q components is not needed in this model and this model can be applied to analyze asymmetric motors like IPMSM machine. With this technique, the model becomes simple, easy to understand physically, and yields results that are the same as those from other models. These simulation results of the proposed model for induction motor are compared with those of other models to verify the method proposed.
