Study on a Forward Light Changes According to the Surface Treatment of Light Cutoff Panel

Since the "Light Pollution Prevention Act" was executed, the installation of the light cutoff panel to the security lightings which caused light trespass has been increased in the local government. The light cutoff panel is effective in reducing the light trespass in term of the cost-benefit. Because the installation of the light cutoff panel is inexpensive than the change of the security lighting. But the reflected light from the surface of the light cutoff panel has been regarded as another light pollution problem to solve. Therefore, we try to improve light cutoff panel by changing the light reflectivity characteristic of the surface of the light cutoff panel. First, we laminated the surface of light cutoff panel by black powder to reduce the light reflectivity of the light cutoff panel. After the black powder lamination, the light reflectivity on the light cutoff panel improved from 85% to 5%. And we compared reflected light caused by black powder laminated light cutoff panel with the one of no surface treatment cutoff panel. The vertical illuminance was measured at 3, 6, 9m in front of the security lighting and 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18m in back of the security lighting to evaluate the reflected light. And the measurement height was determined of 1.5m considering the height of the 1th floor of an apartment house. In this study, we found that the reflected light from the light cutoff panel can be reduced about 90% by the black powder lamination method. The results derived from this study will be helpful to develope the various kind of light cutoff panel which minimize the adverse effect like reflected light of light cutoff panel.
Fault Current Calculation and Coordination by IEC Standards

The safety and reliability of the power system short-circuit current, the short-circuit current depends on the failure to obtain the objective is to quickly eliminate the breaking capacity of the circuit-breaker selection of the cable, the insulation of electrical equipment and protective relay an important factor in determining the level correction and protective relay selection scheme to be meaningful. Standards used in the domestic circuit breaker is applied to the production of IEC standard, but the American National Standards (ANSI / IEEE) by NEMA specification of the fault current calculations and the application of the asymmetric coefficient Korea. Therefore, in this paper, the IEC 60909 standard IEC breaker fault current calculation method and the method for selection of system configurations reviewed and protection system for reviewing the configuration of various protective relays appropriate correction and the correction value is main protection, back-up protection the equipment so that the period of protection relay coordination to minimize accidents and accident protection to minimize interruptions proposed for cooperation.
Analisys about the Earth Fault Characteristics in the Wireless Power Transmission System of the Electric Vehicle

In this paper, the risk of electric shock is analyzed through analysis for characterization of potential distribution analysis and ground fault current analysis near the area where there are occurred a ground fault at electric vehicle wireless charging system using 20kHz. Studies for electric vehicle wireless charging system are in the works for development of efficiency increase, pickup shape design and communication module as a fundamental research step. But the research related to electrical safety and is still scarce state so that more studies are necessary to commercialize. As a result of analysis, it is verified that induced voltage is arisen more up to 45V near the a area of accident during ground fault and fault current has been maintained continuously without clearing fault condition by operating characteristics for circuit breaker and inverter.
A Matlab/Simulink-Based PV array-Supercapacitor Model Employing SimPowerSystem and Stateflow Tool Box

This paper proposes the integration of photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems for sustained power generation. In this proposed system, whenever the PV system cannot completely meet load demands, the super capacitor provides power to meet the remaining load. A power management strategy is designed for the proposed system to manage power flows between PV array systems and supercapacitors (SC). The main task of this study was to design PV systems with storage strategies including MPPT with direct control and an advanced DC-link controller and to analyze dynamic model proposed for a PV-SC hybrid power generation system. In this paper, the simulation models for the hybrid energy system are developed using Matlab/Simulink, SimPowerSystems and Matlab/Stateflow tool. This is the key innovative contribution of the research paper. The system performances are verified by carrying out simulation studies using practical load demand profile and real weather data.
Series Arcing Fault Detection Method Using Harmonics Analysis of Supply Current

Recently, Concerns of imbalance for power supply has been raised by the increase of electric power consumption, but the interest of electric safety is still lacking due to the incompleteness of regulations. Particularly, Arcing fault, direct cause of electric fire accidents, is difficult to detect, interrupt due to unformal signal behaviour in previous research and apply to real system. In this paper, Arcing fault simulator device was fabricated to investigate the characteristics of series arcing fault and simulated the faults in various real load. Also, this study are analysed arcing fault signal by using the harmonic analysis of the acquired data from the current of the power supply and proposed the methods to prevent the series arcing fault accidents in advance.
An Assessment on Effect of Facility and Electrical Safety During the Flooding of the Photovoltaic Power System

The photovoltaic power system is performing power generation by being installed in outdoors. Therefore it has the characteristics affected by environmental factors. In particular, if the solar power generation facility connected to the grid, the power can be generated continuously in a state of being secured operating voltage of the inverter and solar irradiation. In that case, if an abnormal situation such as flooding or heavy rains has occur, the possibility of electric shock or damage of facilities due to current leakage or a floating matters is present. In this paper, we performed electrical safety assessment about the connection part, junction box and cable of the solar module when the solar power system was flooded. we also assessed whether or not the leakage current is occurred in case of the cable was damaged. As a result, in case of the leakage current is large, we can be known that it is the risk of electric shock as well as cause of inverter damage.
A Lecture Note on PU Method thru Calculation of a Simple DC Circuit and Voltage/Fault Analysis of Industrial Power Systems using Actual Data

This paper presents a lecture note of pu method for power system analysis. The author tries to help students in class better understand the fundamental of pu calculation using a very simple DC circuit. And a voltage drop calculation by pu method for a distribution system is given to help understand the importance of the vector reference in AC circuit analysis. A short current calculation by pu method for a power system with a generator, transformer and transmission line is also presented to show how pu calculation can be applied to real power systems, in which all the data are the ones currently being used by KEPCO and other industrial sites.
Analysis of Energy Performance and PMV Improvement by Application of Passive Factor for Office Building Renewal

This paper presents a case study to investigate the monthly calculation method of ISO 13790 applied for a office building. The energy performance analysis according to improvement of insulation and air permeability of windows in K office buildings is investigated by means of building energy efficiency rating tool (
). The K building energy system is tested experimently by the measurement of PMV(predicted mean vote) for the control of indoor thermal environment and heat transmission coefficient of windows and interior walls respectively, before and after the example K office building is remodeled passively. Therefore, Internet based energy assessment program of energy efficiency rating of office building can be applied as a program for the annual energy requirement and for evaluation of energy savings from the experimental and simulation results.
The Study on Detecting Scheme of Voltage Sag using the Two Difference Voltage

In this paper, the detection scheme of the voltage variation using a two difference voltage is proposed. The conventional sag detector is from a single-phase digital phase-locked loop (DPLL) that is based on a d-q transformation using an all-pass filter (APF). The APF generates a virtual q-axis voltage component with
phase delay but the APF cannot generate the virtual q-axis voltage depending on the phase of the grid voltage. To overcome the problem, q-axis voltage component is generated from difference between the current and previous value of d-axis voltage component in the stationary reference frame. However, the difference voltage around the zero crossing is not enough to detect the voltage sag. Therefore, the new detection scheme using the two difference voltage which can detect the sag around the zero crossing voltage is proposed.
A Study on the Configuration of BOP and Implementation of BMS Function for VRFB

This paper proposes a study on the configuration of balancing of plant(BOP) and implementation of battery management system(BMS) functions for vanadium redox flow battery(VRFB) and propose a method consists of sensor and required design specifications BOP system configuration. And it proposes an method of the functions implementation and control algorithm of the BMS for flow battery. Functions of BMS include temperature control, the charge and discharge control, flow control, level control, state of charge(SOC) estimation and a battery protection through the sensor signal of BOP. Functions of BMS is implemented by the sensor signal, so it is recognized as a very important factor measurement accuracy of the data. Therefore, measuring a mechanical signal(flow rate, temperature, level) through the BOP test model, and the measuring an electrical signal(cell voltage, stack voltage and stack current) through the VRFB charge-discharge system and analyzes the precision of data in this paper. Also it shows a good charge-discharge test results by the SOC estimation algorithm of VRFB. Proposed BOP configuration and BMS functions implementation can be used as a reference indicator for VRFB system design.
The Development and Performance Analysis of Multiple Signal Processing Circuit for Marine Installation Sensor

This paper proposes the new multiple signal processing monitoring sensor for the marine installation. The recent marine technology is focused on underwater sensors and underwater sensor networks in order to measure, monitor, surveillance of and control of underwater environments. For these marine applications to be available, however, the provision of precise location information using monitoring sensor is essential. In this paper, the multiple signal processing circuit for obtaining the precise location information of marine installation sensor is developed and analyzed. The performance characteristics for obtaining the location information of marine installation sensor is analyzed. The theoretical and experimental studies have been carried out. The presented results from the above investigation show considerably excellent performance for the monitoring for the marine installation.
A Study on Prevention of Pass-through Accident by Utilization of Wireless Communication

Recently, various types of trains are being operated in the same railroad whose designated stop stations are not the same. In other words, each train does not stop at every station. This could cause the pass-through accidents in which a train passes a station where it is supposed to stop. Although the number of train accidents is on the decrease, this type of error is still an important problem to be resolved. It is true that the burdens of train drivers are growing because the number of high speed trains and non-stop stations is increasing in the current railway system. However, another major reason for this accident is that there is no prevention system for these errors in the current train control system although it is being constantly improved. The purpose of this study is to reinforce the train stop system with wireless communication equipment in order to decrease this type of accident and to maximize the safety of railway transportation.
Coordinated Control of an Independent Multi-phase Permanent Magnet-type Transverse Flux Linear Machine Based on Magnetic Levitation

This paper proposes a coordinated control for an independent multi-phase transverse flux linear synchronous motor (IM-TFLSM) based on magnetic levitation. The stator structures of the IM-TFLSM are composed of a two set, which has independent three-phase windings and a double-sided air-gap as opposed to the conventional Y-connected three-phase linear motors. A suitable control algorithm is necessary to operate the applied linear machine. This study proposes a coordinated control algorithm for adjusting the mover air-gap and thrust force of the IM-TFLSM in order to maintain air-gap and phase shifted current control of the independent 3-phase modules. In addition, the principle of operation and its special structures are described in detail and the validity and effectiveness of the control algorithm is verified through multiple experimental results.
A Study on the Program for Estimation of Electric Rates and the Analysis for Power Consumption in Complex Consumer

Together with housings, general buildings and industrial facilities, multi-purpose complexes are equipped with various and special equipment. They are often used by many unspecified people, which causes an increase in annual electricity consumption. Because of this, a great amount of money has been spent for electric charge, far more in excess of the budget, so a reasonable electricity rate needs to be estimated. In this study, we surveyed the power consumption, average power use, and annual electricity bill of multi-purpose complexes in the past five years. To see the general tendency of the survey, we conducted a statistical analysis with such parameters as average, maximum, and minimum values. Through regression analysis, we could see the trend of the survey in linear way. Based on the survey, we have developed an electric-rate calculation program to estimate the next year`s budget on electricity.

Recently, Uninterruptible power supply(UPS) is spotlighted from concern about black out, due to reserve power problem caused by increased power consumption. When fault occurs on the grid, UPS system supplies power to loads instead of the grid. Also, it is an advantage of possible operation as Energy storage system(ESS). Bi-directional power control of AC/DC Pulse width modulation(PWM) converter is essential for grid-connected UPS system. And, mode transfer control has to be performed considering phase and dynamic characteristic under grid condition. In this paper, control of mode transfer and bi-directional power control of AC/DC PWM converter is proposed for UPS system. Also, it is verified by simulation and experimental results.
A Study on the Power Loss Simulation of Inverter and Converter for Elevator

In case of power electronics, th power loss and EMI noise of IGBT is different depends on a adopting technology with the same power rating. To reduce the EMI noise, we could increase the resistance of gate. But in this case, the power loss of IGBT is increased, In this paper, we simulated the power loss of IGBT with the speed profile of elevator by the changing IGBT type, the voltage between gate and emitter, the resistance of gate in converter and inverter for elevator. To optimize the power electronics with the satisfied life time, It is necessary that we calculate the power loss and the rise of temperature in IGBT with the adopting technology type, the resistence of gate, the voltage between gate and emitter.
Analysis of Effect on Personnel Computer in case of turning off Power supply of Circuit Breaker for Low Voltage

This paper describes the analysis of the effect on personnel computer in case of turning off power supply of main breaker in general electrical installation. In order to analyze the effect on personnel computer in case of turning off the power supply of main breaker, the switching impulse generator has been designed and fabricated which makes it possible to evaluate the effect on electrical product by switching impulse. The switching impulse tests were carried out for personnel computer according to applied voltage and number of switching impulse. As a consequence, switching impulse had not a significant influence on personnel computer in this study. The varistor of power input section functions as a protection of switching impulse as well as lightning impulse. The results will be used to related organization, and electrical product manufacturer, and residents.
