Operating Characteristics of LED Package Heat-sink with Multi-Pin`s

This paper is proposed to design the new heat-sink apparatus for improving the heat transfer characteristics in the power LED chip, and results of the operation characteristics were discussed. The core design is that the soldering through-hole on the FR-4 PCB board is formed to the effective heat transfer. That is directly filled with Ag-nano materials, which shows the high thermal conductivity. The heat transfer medium consisting of Ag-nano materials is classified into two structures. Mediums are called as the heat slug and the multi-pin in this work. The heat of the high temperature generated from the LED chip was directly transferred to the heat slug of the one large size. And the accumulated heat from the heat slug was quickly dissipated by the medium of the multi-pin, which is the same body with the heat slug. This multi-pin was designed for the multi-dissipation of heat by increasing the surface areas with a little pins. Subsequently, the speed of the heat transfer with this new heat-sink apparatus is three times faster than the conventional heat-sink. Therefore, the efficiency of the illuminating light will be improved by adapting this new heat-sink apparatus in the large area`s LED.
A Study on the Optical Gain Characteristics of a UV Line 250.199nm from Helium-Zinc Discharge Excited by CCRF with Overlapped DC

On 250.199nm uv-line, witch has the potential to emit as a laser line, from a ccrf-excited He-Zn discharge with overlapped DC was carried out optimization of the discharge parameters and measurement of the optical gain. In this study the optical gain of the 250.199nm uv-line has been optained 4% for the first time. At a rf-power of 400W with the frequency 13.56MHz the optimal He-pressure indicated 2kPa.
Optimization of Al 6063 Heat Sink using CFD Simulation and Comparative Analysis of Thermal Dissipation Properties with Thermal Conductive Polycarbonate

In the LED lighting applications, because LED packages are the origin of heat generation, there are thermal design problem on heat sinks. In the thermal design, it is important to consider the total volume and the total weight of heat sink simultaneously. In this study, an Al 6063 heat sink was optimized using Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) simulation tool for the cooling of 30W LED module, and then the cooling performance and the total weight of heat sinks with Al 6063 and Thermal Conductive Polycarbonate(TCP) were compared under the same conditions. As the result of simulation, an Al 6063 heat sink was optimized with 22 ea. of fins and 1.6 mm of fin thickness. LED Junction Temperature of the TCP Heat Sink was
higher, but total weight of it was 47 % less than the Al 6063.
An Evaluation of HDRI Builder for the Analysis of Indoor Lighting Environment

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of luminance maps generated from five types of HDRI builder(High Dynamic Ranging Image builder) which include Photosphere, Bracket, Picturenaut, Luminance HDR and Photoshop. To accomplish this goal a set of experiments was conducted. In order to assess the luminance values of the HDR image from HDR image builder, the values had to be compared to the ones obtained from imaging photometer. After comparing measured luminance data using imaging photometer with those retrieved from the HDR images, Photosphere error rate estimated at 3% below.
A Study on Evaluation of Optimal Replacement Period by Reliability Prediction for the Door Control Relay of EMU

In this paper, we want to know the optimal replacement cycle(time) for this study was performed. The optimal preventive replacement age can be fond by finding the value of time that minimizes the cost function(model of Barlow and Jardine). In addition, The reliability of the relay according to the service environment were studied. The use of the exchange relay period is longer, and maintenance cost rate(per hour) may increase, and also the reliability may cause a decline. In addition, considering the preventive maintenance and purchase order, a representative relay(RAX-L440-A type) life was calculated.
Analysis of On-Line Partial Discharge in Air-Coolded Gas Turbine Generator

The on-line partial discharge (PD) in stator windings of air-cooled gas turbine (GT) generator (119.2MVA, 13.8kV) is measured and analyzed in this paper. This generator was designed by global vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI). The generator failed two times at top bar (16T) of phase B in the stator slot. Six epoxy-mica capacitors were installed in three phases of GT generator. On-line PD test was performed on GT generator using turbine generator analyzer (TGA). TGA showed that the normalized quantity number (NQN) and the PD magnitude(
) were high in phase B. Internal discharges were generated in phases A, B and C. The trend analysis of NQN and
value are obtained in order to monitor the insulation condition in GT generator stator windings. Phases A and C were in good condition. But phase B had deteriorated significantly
Torque Ripple Minimization in Switched Reluctance Motor Drives Considering Magnetic Saturation

This paper discusses study of torque ripple minimization employing an improved TDF(torque distribution function)-based instantaneous torque control to reduce acoustic noise and vibration problem of the SRM. As the flux linkage of the SRM is a nonlinear function of phase current and rotor position, design of optimal controller for the SRM is quite complicated. Hence, an accurate mathematical model considering the nonlinearity of the SRM is required. An improved TDF based torque control has been proposed in order to reduce the toque ripple at high speed operation. Dynamic simulation using Matlab/Simulink as well as Finite Element Analysis is presented. A prototype SRM for electric vehicle traction has been manufactured to validate the experimental results comparing the dynamic simulation results.
A Tie-plate Shape Optimization of 24MVA Cast Resin Transformer for Reduction of Stray Loss

This paper presents a method to reduce the stray loss of core Tie-Plate of distribution power transformer. The method combines a 3-dimensional FEM with PSO(Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm to determine the shape of the Tie-Plate that minimizes eddy current and flux-leakage losses. To verify the method a 24MVA distribution(cast-resin) transformer was simulated using one objective function and two design variables with some constraints. The final optimized Tie-Plate has nine(
) slots of 10mm width, 15mm thickness and 25mm distance. After four iterations, the Tie-Plate loss was reduced to about 21 % of the original.
Double Peak Current Limiting Properties of Series Connection-Type SFCL with Two Magnetic Paths

We proposed a series connection-type superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) using E-I core that can prevent the internal magnetic flux generation of cores during normal operation, and prevent the saturation of cores due to a sudden magnetic flux generation at the initial stage of fault occurrence while limiting the peak current. Through a short-circuit simulation experiment, we analyzed the operating status of the two superconducting elements and limiting characteristics according to the size of the fault current peak before and after the failure. Further, the double peak current limiting characteristics according to the winding directions as well as the current and the voltage of each coil were compared and analyzed.
An Analysis of Performance Testing for Metallic Connection Components of Lightning Protection System

Recently, IEC published new standards about the requirements and tests for lightning protection system(LPS) components. If components are used for LPS, they should comply with the IEC standards. This paper, we collected six specimens for the metallic connection components using in domestic, and it tested for withstand lightning current which according to the IEC 62561-1. As a result, only one specimen meet this performance requirement. The specimen is the metallic connection component with four bolts fixed. Therefor, when designing of LPS in domestic, the metallic connection components shall be taken into account for the selection of the withstand lightning current. In addition, we need to develop for LPS components product and the national standards.

The small wind turbines has the merits of setting up with low costs by individuals, and get the energy saving effects that, it has the secured, separate markets from the big range systems, and the developing of it is continuously proceeding. The objective of this paper is to provide the design characteristics analysis of a permanent magnet synchronous generator(PMSG) skewed for magnet of rotor, the main advantage to be explored with the use of a split core design is the reduction in manufacturing costs and its simplicity in manufacture, compared to the manufacturing costs of a core skew PM machine. This thesis is aiming mainly analyzing the characteristics of the prototype to verify through Finite Element Method(FEM) and tests.
A Study of Detection Algorithms and Analysis Series Arc of Quasi-arc Load

This paper proposes new arc algorithm to detect series quasi-arc. This algorithm analyzes odd and even harmonics until 9th using discrete fourier transform (DFT) and detect series arc comparing RMS values of load current. Resistors, lights, dimmer and vacuum cleaner which can be distinguished linearity load and quasi arc load are adopted to perform experiments. This algorithm is confirmed to emulate arc detecting with measuring current data.
Comparison and Calculation Method on the Separation Between ICT and Power Cabling Considering EMC

The requirements for separation between ICT cables and power cables depend upon the electromagnetic immunity of the ICT cable, the construction of the power cable, the quantity of, and type of electrical circuits and the presence of dividers etc. We studied and reviewed the regulations and standards relevant for requirements of this separation in domestic and foreign. And then we would like to suggest the method of separation calculation between ICT and power cabling taking the EMC into consideration.
An Analysis on the Causal Relation Among SMP, Base-Load Share, LNG Import Price, and Exchange Rate

This article examines the causality relationship among SMP, base-load share, LNG import price, and exchange rate in Korean power market during 2002~2012, using unit root test, cointegration test, and vector error correction model(VECM). The cointegration test shows that 4 variables without unit root have been in the long-run causality. As the results of ECM, SMP is analyzed to have been unilaterally caused from LNG import price and base-load share in the shot-run, while it has been unilaterally caused from LNG import price and exchange rate in the long-run. This article has the following policy implications: the adjustment of exchange rate to reduce he risk of LNG import price and the proper securement of base-load share for the long-run stability of SMP.
