A study on the Theoretical Resolution of Conoscopic Holography

Conoscopic holography, which consists of two circular polarizers and an uniaxial crystal, is incoherent holographic technology for three-dimensional display and non-contact diagnosis. In this paper, we derive the longitudinal and lateral intensities from point-source hologram made by conoscopic holography. Also, the longitudinal and lateral resolutions of conoscopic holography will be obtained from the longitudinal and lateral intensities, respectively, according to Rayleigh criterion.
Spectral Characteristics of Multiwavelength-Switchable First-Order Fiber Flexible Filter based on Polarization-Diversity Loop

In this paper, a multiwavelength-switchable first-order fiber flexible filter is newly proposed, which is based on a polarization-diversity loop. The proposed filter consists of a polarization beam splitter, three half-wave plates(HWPs), and two high birefringent fibers(HBFs). The proposed filter has a good flexibility in adjusting relative angular difference between the principal axes of two HBFs by inserting an HWP between two HBFs. The first-order flat-top or narrow band transmission spectra and the zeroth-order transmission spectra, which had a channel spacing of ~0.8nm, could be obtained by controlling the three HWPs, and, in particular, each of them could also be interleaved. In addition, zeroth-order transmission spectra with a channel spacing of ~0.8nm could be flexibly converted into those with a channel spacing of ~0.4nm through the control of three HWPs, and also be interleaved. The transmission characteristics of the proposed filter was theoretically analyzed and experimentally verified.
The Study of Complementary Standards to Improve Visibility on Crosswalk throughout Verification Studies after Reviewing Standards

According to the analysis of crosswalk pedestrian accidents, accidents that occur at night represent 70% of all deaths among crosswalk pedestrians when compared to accidents occurring in the daytime. This is due to the poor visibility that hinders drivers to recognize pedestrians at night. Illuminance on the horizontal plane of the road and the current state of crosswalk lighting are not sufficient enough to comply with standards. Thus, we analyzed factors derived from lighting environment studies on improving crosswalk visibility, domestic and foreign crosswalk lighting standards, and subsequently proposed solutions which are needed to raise domestic crosswalk lighting standards, and a means to uphold those standards through proper verification.
Optical Illumination System Design for LED Masthead Navigation Light

This paper dealt with the LED optical illumination system design for the Masthead navigation light to replace halogen lamps. We made Fresnel lens satisfy luminous intensity distribution of "Convention on the International Regulation for Preventing Collisions at Sea(COLREG)". The optical system is designed by classifying three parts: light source, lens, and cut off plate. The source of light has been made to have the uniform horizontal and vertical light distribution by placing 6 LEDs at intervals of
, and as the cylindrical Fresnel lens, the lens has been designed to achieve the uniform horizontal and vertical light distribution in the range of plain light. Finally, the cover has been designed to block the light from the outside of plain light and ultimately met the standards for light distribution of navigation lights. In addition, the validity of design has been verified with manufacturing a trial product.
A Comparative Study on the Luminous Flux by Degree of Non-directional LED Lamps and Incandescent lamp

In general, non-directional LED lamps including high transmittance cover are more advantageous than directional LED lamps, which are efficient enough to improve luminous efficacy and obtain certification, allowing wide manufacture, sale, and distribution. Although KS C 7651(Self-ballasted LED lamps-Safety and performance requirements) was revised in July 2013, however, many companies are having a lot of difficulties in keeping the certification and product development for the lack of the photometric analysis for non-directional LED lamps. In this paper, through the measurement of the angular distribution of luminous flux of incandescent lamp and non-directional LED lamps, we examined the reasonability of non-directional LED lamps' standards as suggested in KS C 7651. According to the results, even if non-directional LED lamps satisfy KS C 7651, when compared to an incandescent lamp, they showed less diffusive than the incandescent lamp and the distribution of the luminous flux depending on the angle fluctuated greatly even among LED lamps. Judging by the result, the current standard of the non-directional LED lamps, KS C 7651, has been comprehended that the angular distribution of the luminous flux needs to be presented after being much more thoroughly standardized.
Analysis on Operational Characteristics of Distance Relay due to Application of Superconducting Fault Current Limiter in a Simulated Power Transmission System

The development of the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) to apply into a power transmission system where makes larger fault current compared to the power distribution system has been performed. Among various SFCLs, the trigger-type SFCL is suitable for application into the power transmission system due to the effective reduction on power burden of the high temperature superconducting element (HTSC) for the larger fault current. To protect the power transmission line in the power grid, the distance relay, which decides to interrupt fault section where can be calculated by the measured voltage and current from sound grid, is one of important protective devices in the power transmission system. However, the operation of the distance relay from the impedance of the fault point on the transmission line is affected by the impedance of the trigger-type SFCL. Therefore, the analysis on the operational characteristics of distance relay considering the application of the SFCL is required. In this paper, the effect on the operation zones of the distance relay by the impedance of the SFCL in a power transmission system was analyzed through the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation.
Differential Search Algorithm for Economic Load Dispatch with Valve-Point Effects

This paper presents an Differential Search(DS) Algorithm for solving the economic load dispatch(ELD) problems with Valve-Point loading constraints. DS algorithm simulates the Brownian-like random-walk movement used by an organism to migrate. Numerical results on a test system consisting of 13 units show that the proposed approach is faster, more robust and powerful than conventional algorithms. Case studies show the simulation results are better than Lagrange method, the Hopfield neural networks and GA.
A Study on Boost/Flux-Weakening Controller for Wide Speed Operation Range having Engine and IPMSG for Special Equipment Vehicle

This paper proposes a boost/flux-weakening controller (BFWC) for wide speed operation range having engine and interior permanent magnet synchronous generator (IPMSG) for special equipment vehicle. The proposed BFWC exploits direct torque/flux control (DTFC) scheme based on space vector modulation method to control the constant DC voltage output within the entire speed operation range of engine. And, to improve the response characteristics of maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) operation and flux-weakening operation, the MTPA and flux-weakening feed-forward controllers are applied. To estimate feasibility and usefulness of the proposed controller, the simulation and experimental results are compared.
Improvement of Current Limiting and Recovery Characteristics in Series Connection Type SFCL with Added Third Winding

The series connection type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) with added third winding, which was magnetically coupled in one iron core, was proposed. The proposed SFCL was expected to be more improved by just adding third winding into the conventional series connection type SFCL with two coils. To analyze the contribution of the third winding for the current limiting and the recovery characteristics of the SFCL, the short-circuit tests for the series connection type SFCL with the added third winding were performed together with the analysis on its electrical equivalent circuit. From the comparative analysis on the amplitude of the limited fault current and the power burden of the high-TC superconducting (HTSC) element comprising this SFCL, the improved current limiting and recovery characteristics of the series connection type SFCL using the third winding could be confirmed.
A Study of Durability Evaluation for Couplers in Battery Changeable Electric Vehicle

Recently, many countries are researching and developing the various Electric Vehicle(EV) for reserving their natural environments and so on. But the charging time that is longer than the time of filling up the traditional engine vehicle will be the obstacles of spreading them. So, the other type EV is developed. It is the Battery Changeable EV. But there is not testing method for it. Especially, the defining of the durability evaluation for the couplers between battery and charger is very important because the couplers are changed very frequently. So, they may cause many faults and problems. Therefore, this study shows the definition of the durability procedure and the test is conducted with the equipment.
A Study on the Uninterruptible Power Open Phase Compensation Device

It has been widely accepted that open phase may separate one of the power lines from power supply which is mainly caused by fuse melting, malfunction for source circuit breaker, contact failure, and disconnection under normal operating conditions, and is considered a kind of failure mode during disconnection of neutral wires as well. When open phase occurs, unequal voltage between phase might happen in the unbalanced load connected each phase, and further, depending on conditions of load, malfunction by providing low voltage. Moreover, load could be burned or overheated with overvoltage, which, in turn, can be a contributor to starting fires. Accordingly, in order to clearly overcome these problems, the current study aims to introduce the theory of uninterruptible power open phase compensation device, meaning that unbalanced power automatically restores balanced power and provides continuously the power supply without blackout, and verify it through simulation and experiments.
Design and Analysis of a Triple Output DC/DC Converter with One Switch for Photovoltaic Multilevel Single Phase Inverter

The industrial products to use single phase inverter are raised the necessity of power quality improvement, such as AC Motor Driver, Lighting, Renewable energy power converter. Also, it is increasing that applied the single phase multilevel inverter for high quality power at renewable energy power converter. Especially, the photovoltaic multilevel inverters have at least more than two DC_Link and more than one DC/DC Converter. This paper proposes a triple output DC/DC Converter with one switch for photovoltaic multilevel inverter. The proposed converter has advantages of low cost and volume because it has one switch. The operation principle of the converter is analyzed and verified. A prototype is implemented to verify of the proposed converter.
Compensation of Unbalanced Phase Currents in Interleaved Bi-directional Converter with DC Link Current Sensed

This paper presents a compensation method of unbalanced phase currents in interleaved bi-directional converters. Phase currents in interleaved bi-directional converter are apt to be unbalanced due to circuit parameter error and switch operation difference. This problem causes the switch element failure and the reduced efficiency of the converter. Therefore, it is necessary that a certain balance control algorithm is provided in interleaved bi-directional converter system. In this paper, a balance control algorithm based on the circular chain control method is proposed. Further, in order to reduce the number of phase current sensors, this paper shows a simple method in which phase currents can be extracted indirectly through a DC-link current sensor in both charging and discharging modes. The validity and the effectiveness of the proposed phase currents balance control algorithm are illustrated through the simulation results.
Set up a Demand Factor of EV Chargers and Its Control Method in Apartments

In this paper, we have analyzed the power consumption property of EVs(Electric Vehicles) chargers established in a public place, proposed reasonable demand factors by the number of established EV chargers and its control method in apartments. The optimization of power system and the suppression of the peak load can be controlled through the proposed demand factors and charging scheduling control algorithm. In this paper, electrical design and an case analysis were carried out on a sample apartment complex to prove the effectiveness of the power system. As a result, emergency power transformer capacity has been reduced by approximately 25%, and we have confirmed that the electric rates saving and the control of peak load value is possible.
Analysis of Connected Operations of PV Source and Li Energy Storage Equipment to Power System

This paper presents the analysis of connected operation of photo voltaic source and Li energy storage system. The micro-grid has been installed and operated for several years at the campus of USF and has been a role of test bed. Photo voltaic source has been strongly influenced by the location, weather and climate of a installed area and Li battery is connected directly to the photo voltaic source to compensate for the limitations. The Li battery is operated to supply power output to the grid by the charging or discharging mode based on the average power output of the PV source which is calculated from monitored data for several years. The load of the PV and Li battery system is operated as a severe loading condition and the operating characteristics of PV source and Li battery are analyzed in detail. In connected operations of PV and Li battery to power system, the PV and Li battery is operated to supply constant power during only day time or peak time to increase load shedding ratio and efficient usage of generation sources in power system.
The Design Flowchart of Earthing System for Building Electrical Installations in Accordance with International Standards

In this paper, designing of an earthing system in accordance with international standards with regard to 22.9kV-y multi-grounded neutral system is discussed and confirmed that the consumer's earthing system can be a part of a global earthing system by interconnecting its earthing system with the neutral conductor of 22.9kV-y multi-grounded system. Further, it is proposed that some modification of the earthing system design flowchart given in the international standards are necessary when considering the equipotential bonding, lightning protection, and telecommunications facilities as well as the basic safety requirements.
