The Subjective Evaluation on White Light Property and Color Appearance of Single Chip LED and RGB Multi Chip LED

To produce the white light, there are a single chip method using the blue light and phosphor coating, a multi chip method by mixing R, G, B light.. Multi chip method is proper for the smart lighting system by controling color and color temperature. And color rendering of single chip LED is good by even spectral distribution. To apply application technic like smart light system, this paper analyzed the properties of single chip LED and RGB multi chip LED, and implemented the 2 part subject evaluation for single chip LED and RGB multi chip LED. The first part is comparison of properties for single chip LED and RGB multi chip and second part is color appearance evaluation of 8 colors in each lighting environment.
Development of The LED FDL for Replacing Fluorescent Lamp

Due to the declining LED price and environment-friendly energy policies, CO2 emission reduction and energy-saving, the LED lighting industry is accelerating rapidly. In particular, the needs for LED lamp, replacing the existing fluorescent lamp without exchange luminaire or driver circuits, are also rapidly increasing. Therefore, replacement for T8 fluorescent lamp, LED T8 lamp was developed and standardized. However, except LED T8 lamps, other lamps` regulations or standards were not enacted. Also, the stability of fluorescent lamp substitutable LED lamp is low due to the difference in electrical characteristics and mismatch between the existing fluorescent lamp ballast and LED lamp. Therefore, many are struggling while developing fluorescent lamp substitutable LED lamp. In this paper describes the properties of existing fluorescent lamp ballasts and the considerations while developing fluorescent lamp substitutable LED lamp : demonstrating its validity by experiments the developed fluorescent lamp substitutable LED lamp prototype.
A Study on the Thermal Characteristics Comparison of the LED Floodlight Luminaire using Vapor Chamber Manufacturing Technology

The purpose of this paper is to analyze thermal characteristics of the heat sinks to maximize the thermal diffusivity for LED floodlight. The 2 kind of samples were prepared by vapor chamber manufacturing technology using the heat pipe principle. It was analyzed the maximum temperature reduction effect and the thermal diffusion from the heat source depending on the types of chambers with 3 kind of working fluids. As a result, it was confirmed that thermal conductivity 23% increased, GVC-R type than IVC-R type.
Subjective Evaluation of Glare for Blinking and Colors of Vertical LED Lighting

Currently, in South Korea, `Light Pollution Prevention Act by Artificial Lighting` has been enforced. For advertising lighting, it is limited based on only the light-emitting luminance. Luminance is a concept related to the glare. Not only the luminance of the light source, but also glare is affected depending on some situations like blinking, luminance contrast, background illuminance. This study conducted glare subjective evaluation with brightness, color, and blinking by looking at the LED lighting box. The results showed that the glare indexes were higher about 2 times in a decrease of background illuminance from 100lx to 0lx. The glare index of R, G, B light was higher than that of white light. The average glare index of the blue light was higher about 8 times compared to 2,700K. And the blink rate had little effect on the glare, but it affected the irritation. Therefore, the glare effect of light color and blinking needs to be considered for the standard of luminous environment.
Design of LED Dimming Lighting System using Ultrasonic Sensor

In this paper, an LED lighting system that is capable of automatic or maunal dimming control using a ultrasonic sensor and Bluetooth wireless communication technology is presented. The LED lighting system consists of a ultrasonic sensor, microcontroller unit, Bluetooth wireless communication, LED driver, and LED light source. By using the implemented LED lighting system sample, it is shown that the automatic and manual dimming control is realized. By using the ultrasonic sensor, the LED lighting is automatically brighter or dimmer depending on the distance between the sensor and an object. When using a smartphone that includes Bluetooth wireless communication function, one can not only manually control the brightness of the LED lighting from level 1 to 10, but also monitor the distance between the sensor and object on the smartphone.
A Study on the Voltage Sag During the EVs Charging Considering Domestic Data

In order to charge EVs, they have to be connected to distribution system. Therefore, if unprecedented numbers of EVs are connected to power systems, it could result in deterioration of power quality, overload, and other system problems. In this paper, the effects of voltage sag on the distribution system due to the connection of EVs is evaluated by considering related field data of Republic of Korea such as the number of gasoline-fueled vehicles, seasonal load of power system and the monthly and daily real-time traffic volume. The distribution system and EVs are modeled using the Electro Magnetic Transients Program (EMTP).
Analysis of Energy Performance & Energy Saving with Geothermal Heat Pump System Using TRNSYS Program in a Large Scale Shopping Store

Energy consumption in buildings is currently a real problem. That is why both assessment of energy performance and effective energy management including renewable energy system are essential. Thus, this paper focuses on a case study to analyze the energy performance and cooling & heating energy saving of a large scale shopping store in Daejeon city. The reference building is simulated by using TRNSYS dynamic simulation tool to examine its annual energy consumption. For annual energy analysis of building, one year energy consumption is surveyed in the field. The related study is carried out in large scale shopping store to investigate the energy consumption and energy use trend of heating, cooling, hot water, lighting, ventilation, equipments and other. The evaluation of energy performance of the geothermal heat pump system installed in a large scale shopping store is also analyzed by TRNSYS tool. From simulation results, it evaluated that the geothermal heat pump system is effective energy savings method in large scale shopping store.
A Study on the Transient State Characteristics of TFR-8 Cable caused by Over Current

The incidence of fires caused by electrical factors has increased with the growth in domestic electrical consumption. According to the national fire data system of national emergency management agency, electrical fires accounted for 20% of all domestic fires in the last 10 years. Electrical fires are mainly caused by short circuit, leakage current, defect in an electrical equipment, over load, utility fault, etc. The fault current can be several times larger than the nominal current, thereby exceeding the rated current of cable. Consequently, the cable conductor, typically copper wire, heats up to a temperature that ignites surrounding combustibles. This paper describes the transient characteristics of the 0.6/1kV, TFR-8 cable have been investigated, and analyzed under the over current conditions for reduce the risk of electrical fire by experimental and FEM analysis. The experimental and FEM(Finite Element Method) analysis results of temperature and resistance variation according to the over current in copper wires were analyzed. The experimental results coincide well with the FEM analysis.
A Study of Horizontal Surface Discharge Characteristics for Dew-Point of Dry-Air and Materials of Solid Insulator in Quasi-Uniform Field

This study investigates the Horizontal surface discharge characteristics of solid insulators by varying their materials, and the dew-point of dry-air. The methodology of this study is that a quasi-uniform field is first applied to a test chamber. Then, the chamber is filled with dry-air as an insulation gas which pressure is varied from 1 to 6atm while applying an AC voltage to the chamber. The used solid insulators are teflon, polyethlene and polyurethane. As the dew-point is lower and the pressure of dry-air is higher, the flashover voltage of all solid insulators increases more. When each characteristic of the solid insulators is compared under the same gas pressure, the flashover voltage of teflon is the highest. Then, the flashover voltage of polyethlene is higher than that of polyurethane. Moreover, it is observed that the flashover voltage increases as the horizontal distance between the electrodes of each solid insulator become larger, respectively. However, as the pressure is increased, flashover voltage of the solid insulators is saturated. Therefore, selection of cost-effective insulation is needed in order to appropriate pressure.
Simulation Analysis and Development of Matlab/Simulink Model for Stand-alone Operation of Emergency Diesel Synchronous Generator-based Hybrid Energy System

In this paper, enhanced stand-alone operation and development of Matlab/Simulink model of emergency diesel based hybrid energy system is presented. Simulations based on the remote community or islands were performed for PV-diesel-battery hybrid system. Modeling of PV-diesel-battery integrated system is done to perform under the solar radiation and load conditions on Matlab/Simulink platform. The models of diesel generator unit, battery energy storage system, PV and frequency-power control are developed and simulation studies have been carried out under various conditions using Matlab/Simulink and SimPowerSystem. It is demonstrated that the proposed system can provide reliable and good quality power to the customers in diesel synchronous generator-based hybrid energy systems.
Switching Losses Analysis of the Interleaved ZCT DC-DC Converter with Current Conduction Modes

In the issues of interleaved topology which have been in limelight as high power converter, various soft-switching methods are studied to reduce switching losses in high power application. The interleaved ZCT converter has an additional filter inductor to reduce losses of diodes during reverse recovery process. However, additional current conduction modes are occurred by the inductor, we need to analyze switching losses with inductor values on each mode. In this paper, current conduction modes and boundary conditions of interleaved ZCT converter are analyzed. In the conclusion, the minimum of switching losses in converter operation modes is analyzed by calculating switching losses.
A Study on the Development of Critical Transmission Operating Constraint Prediction (CTOCP) System With High Wind Power Penetration

Globally, wind power development is experiencing dramatic growth and wind power penetration levels are increasing. Wind generation is highly variable in time and space and it doesn`t guarantee the system reliability and secure system operation. As wind power capacity becomes a significant portion of total generation capacity, the reliability assessment for wind power are therefore needed. At present, this operational reliability assessment is focusing on a generation adequacy perspective and does not consider transmission reliability issues. In this paper, we propose the critical transmission operating constraint prediction(CTOCP) system with high wind power penetration to enhance transmission reliability.
The Ballast for HID Lamps of Preventing the Overvoltage with a Long Distance Resonant Ignition

The electronic ballast for HID lamps needs to ignite lamps even though the length from the ballast to lamp is far away. Therefore, it needs to do the research on a resonant ignition to turn on the HID lamps because the reduction of ignition voltage is not much depending on the distance. However, the parasitic capacitance is increased depending the length of the cable, and it affects the resonant frequency. The ignitor voltage can be increased drastically under the resonant ignition through frequency sweep, and it is the main reason of blowing up. Therefore, the clamping diode is proposed to suppress the voltage of the primary winding during resonant ignition.
Analysis of Fault Characteristics by the Type of Grounding Scheme in Low Voltage DC Distribution System

Recently, DC distribution system has come into the spotlight as the number of digital loads and the use of renewable energy increases. However, there are still challenges for the commercialization of DC distribution system such as a consideration for the safety. Thus, researches on protective coordination and grounding system for the safety of human bodies and facilities in Low-Voltage DC (LVDC) distribution system should be preferentially conducted. In this paper, therefore, we analyze characteristics of faults in LVDC system accroding to type of grounding system based on IEC 60364. Finally, the simulations for fault characteristic in different grounding scheme are conducted using ElectroMagnetic Transient Program(EMTP) and the results of simulation are shown.
Network Type Distributed Control System with Considering Data Collision

Network type distributed control system uses a communication line which is named the BUS to exchange a data among the sub-systems. Usually, on the bus, only one data must be exited at one time, so the control algorithm to prevent collision or to manage a priority of data is important. Including CAN Protocol, many kind of FieldBus which are used for distributed control system, prevent data collision by controlling transmission time. But, a system which have to make a control signal or get a data from a sensor at fixed time will be met a problem when it is composed by using a network type distributed control structure. In this paper, some of these cases will be discussed and solutions be proposed for preventing a data collision. Also, using Arago Disk System which have a structure for inner loop control, the validity of the proposed methods will be verified.
A Study on Proposal and Necessity to Adopt the LVDC Standardization Policy

Recently, LVDC(Low Voltage Direct Current) has been came into the newly spotlight with HVDC(High Voltage Direct Current) and as increasing digital load, DC power supply and high quality of demand is also getting extended. In accordance with the report of EPRI(Electric Power Research Institute), they expect digital load will grow to 50% of whole load in 2020. Subsequently, the use of DC equipment will grow dramatically. Therefore, the careful adoption of LVDC standardization policy is urgently required for the safety of people, prevention of confusion and occupancy of the market.
