A Study on the Optical Characteristics of LED Lamp as Alternative Type of FPL Lamp

As lamps using LEDs are developed actively, also there have been large request for LED lamps that can replace traditional lamps like fluorescent lamps and metal halide lamps. But so far there are no proper standards that manufacturer can use and test their lamps. As a result of this, manufacturers are not only unable to develop LED lamps but also sell it even though they have technology. In this study, It is proposed that proper test method by investigating compatibility between all-type control gear and LED lamps by analyzing control gear for fluorescent lamp such as magnetic or electronic ballast that is currently used in the market.
A Study on Status and Analysis of Local Governments Light Pollution Control Ordinance

This study is intending to look into the status of the hitherto established local governments light pollution control ordinance, and to use the ordinance status as basic data of ordinance enactment related to light pollution in time of its establishment and revision in accordance with regional characteristics of each local government for the time to come. This study conducted this research in a total of 3-phase research methods. 1) This study inquired into the direction of the research plan through the theoretical consideration and analysis of the preceding researches after setting up research objectives according to research background and purpose. 2) Targeting 11 local governments which are enforcing the hitherto established ordinance, this study surveyed the status of the light pollution control ordinance. 3) This study carried out the contents analysis of the ordinance in the method of doing a comparative analysis of each provision of the ordinance according to local governments. It's hoped that on the basis of this research, local governments across the nation, which have not yet established the same ordinance, could minimize the damage to natural eco-system due to artificial lighting by promoting the urgent ordinance establishment suited for each region, and create human-oriented light environment by modifying various disorderly lighting environment.
Study on Analysis of Output Polarization of Lyot-Type High-Order Fiber Comb Filter Based on Polarization-Diversity Loop Structure

In this paper, we investigated the output polarization of a Lyot-type optical fiber comb filter based on a polarization-diversity loop structure. It was found that the output state of polarization (SOP) of the filter made a wavelength-dependent evolution, and the spectral periods of the output SOP variation in flat-top and lossy flat-top band modes were the channel separation of the filter and its half, respectively. For a certain input SOP, the filter could pass or reject specific spectral sections by adding and controlling an output analyzer. In particular, it was theoretically anticipated that the filter with the output polarizer could provide the fine continuous tuning of its pass band center in a wavelength range corresponding to the
of channel spacing(0.8nm) when the input SOP was properly adjusted. It is expected that this tuning function can be effectively applied to suppress unwanted spectral portions in modulated optical signals.
Affective Evaluation for Human-centered Lighting Environment Design : Focused on Office Spaces using LED lighting

LED lightings combined with IT technology can provide variable illumination environments that can be controlled by users according to their emotional need and preferences. This is one of the most beneficial functions compared with conventional lightings offering only fixed color and brightness. There is however lack of analysis data for creating practical lighting solutions satisfying user preferences in a wide range of applications from residential to commercial places. To materialize the technical advantages of user-controllable LED lightings, more observation data are required in various situations. Therefore, dissimilar emotional needs are determined in the present study for compartmental office spaces (staff lounge room, meeting room and desk job place) through subjective experiments by 45 observers. The optimum lighting conditions (CCT and illuminance) are finally obtained using Response Surface Method and relevant prediction functions are also deduced. The final outcome can be applied for making user-preferred office illumination products.

Recently, the power supply situation has deteriorated and the plan has issued to utilize of emergency generators for securing standby power. If a part of Emergency Generators was utilized by peak shaving, it can be avoiding over-investment in supply power facility. In this paper we investigate management of Emergency Generator and understand the current situation. So, we verify demand response resource possibility of Emergency Generator.
Optimal location of Batcher Plant using Modified Steiner point

REMICON(Ready Mixed Concrete), the most essential material of construction work, is produced from facility called "Batcher plant." In order to produce Remicon, Batcher Plant needs to be supplied with basic raw material such as ballast, sand, cement, admixture and water. In remicon industry, overland transport vehicles are used during the whole manufacturing process from producing to infilling at the construction site. Thus, the transportation cost sums up be to 20 percent of whole manufacturing cost and transport capacity and distance travelled have direct and major effect on manufacturing costs. This paper suggests a method to find optimal location of batcher plant using modified Steiner point, suggesting the most effective and flexible connection through among construction site, aggregate, cement and remicon producing plant. This paper also proposes reducing of transport cost at maximum 60% by calculation through optimized plant location. The modified Steiner point theory proposed in this paper also can be applied to optimal location of a
substation or MCC panel for minimizing of power loss, voltage drop, line distance and etc.
The Study on the improvement of Characteristics of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor for Washing Machine

IPMSM(Insert Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) is a very high degree of freedom in the design according to the permanent magnet insertion position. And the performance of IPMSM is affected a lot on barrier shape which determines the magnetic flux path from magnet. Thus the position of permanent magnet and the barrier shape has to be designed by considering both specification and operation condition. In the paper, the permanent magnet and barrier shape which is suitable for direct drive motor of washing machine has been studied. In addition, in order to verify the validity of the study, the test was evaluated by making a prototype motor.
Design and A Safety Analysis and Assessment of a Grounding System according to International Standards

In this paper, we evaluate safety of grounding system which is designed according to IEC standards. Safety assessment of construction site and grounding system of building is needed before construction for the safety of human in building. Until now, in case of domestic field, design of grounding system is proceeded based on methods which are proposed in IEEE Std. 80. In other words, it is not in the situation that grounding system is designed based on IEC standards. Therefore, we propose a method which designs grounding system and evaluates safety of it according to IEC standards. We measure ground resistance of construction site using measuring equipment of ground resistance. Using this value, soil structure and ground resistivity are obtained through program analysis. CDEGS program of SES company is used for simulation analysis.
A Study of Contact Resistance Test Considered with Measurement Uncertainty for Electric Bus Couplers with Battery-Swapping System

Many people think that Electric Vehicles(EVs) is the best method to resolve the problems of running out of fossil fuels. But EVs take long time for charging. So, EVs with battery swapping systems(EVBS) are developed to resolve this problem. Nonetheless, EVBS is not spreaded widely because the method of durability test in couplers is not defined. In this study, the evaluation method of durability test in couplers is defined by some standards and the measurement uncertainty is used to increase the reliability of EV couplers.
High-Efficiency Converter for Automotive Headlamp Using New H-type Snubber

Recently, LED light has been increasingly adopted for vehicles in both domestic and foreign automotive markets, while a variety of LED lights have been developed to be used particularly for headlamps. In this paper, we propose an H-type resonant snubber circuit topology for high efficiency of vehicle LDM (LED Driver Module) and realized LDM functions for vehicle headlamp by designing high-efficiency convertors. In addition, this study reduced the financial burden by configuring the system to control the whole with micom except for the use of individual dedicated chips to drive LED for high and low beam. In order to verify the validity of the proposed H-type resonant snubber capable of soft switching, simulations were performed using PSIM. As a result, the validity was experimentally verified by creating a prototype. Moreover, in order to actually attach the headlamp, the performance of the proposed convertor was confirmed by designing LDM to the limited size. Communications between the headlamp and higher controller were realized using LIN(Local Interconnect Network).
A Study on Effects of Offset Error during Phase Angle Detection in Grid-tied Single-phase Inverters based on SRF-PLL

This paper proposes an ripple reduction algorithm and analyzes the effects of offset and scale errors generated by voltage sensor while measuring grid voltage in grid-tied single-phase inverters. Generally, the grid-connected inverter needs to detect the phase angle information by measuring grid voltage for synchronization, so that the single-phase inverter can be accurately driven based on estimated phase angle information. However, offset and scale errors are inevitably generated owing to the non-linear characteristics of voltage sensor and these errors affect that the phase angle includes 1st harmonic component under using SRF-PLL(Synchronous Reference Frame - Phase Locked Loop) system for detecting grid phase angle. Also, the performance of the overall system is degraded from the distorted phase angle including the specific harmonic component. As a result, in this paper, offset and scale error due to the voltage sensor in single-phase grid connected inverter under SRF-PLL is analyzed in detail and proportional resonant controller is used to reduce the ripples caused by the offset error. Especially, the integrator output of PI(Proportional Integral) controller in SRF-PLL is selected as an input signal of the proportional resonant controller. Simulation and experiment are performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
Speed Controller Design for BLDC Motor

Due to low cost and high reliability, Brushless DC (BLDC) motors have been widely used in control applications such as robotics, aerospace and automobile. In the high performance control systems, it is very important to maintain the desired speed even in the face of parameter uncertainties, modeling errors, and disturbance signals. In this paper, we present an
controller for the speed control of BLDC motors to achieve better performance of disturbance rejection. In particular, we discuss how to reduce an initial peaks of control input in the proposed
controller. Some experimental results are provided to establish the effectiveness of the proposed method.
A Practical Exciter Model Reduction Approach For Power System Transient Stability Simulation

Explicit numerical integration methods for power system transient stability simulation require very small time steps to avoid numerical instability. The EXST1 exciter model is a primary source of fast dynamics in power system transients. In case of the EXST1, the required small integration time step for entire system simulation increases the computational demands in terms of running time and storage. This paper presents a practical exciter model reduction approach which allows the increase of the required step size and thus the method can decrease the computational demands. The fast dynamics in the original EXST1 are eliminated in the reduced exciter model. The use of a larger time step improves the computational efficiency. This paper describes the way to eliminate the fast dynamics from the original exciter model based on linear system theory. In order to validate the performance of the proposed method, case studies with the GSO-37 bus system are provided. Comparisons between the original and reduced models are made in simulation accuracy and critical clearing time.
Study on Insulation Diagnosis of Poor Contact between Electrode and Solid Insulator in Eco-Gas

This paper presents the characteristics of partial discharge and radiated electromagnetic waves in the existence of a poor contact for the insulation diagnosis of eco-friendly power equipment. AC surface discharge experiment was conducted to simulate the poor contact between a hive voltage electrode (anode) and a solid insulator in
mixture gas under a non-uniform field. The partial discharge voltage to be measured at 0.3MPa increased with the increase of the poor contact gap and was saturated with the gap. In addition to the partial discharge characteristics, it was verified that the defect of the poor contact can be diagnosed using the radiated electromagnetic waves due to the partial discharge, which measured by a biconical EMC antenna and a spectrum analyzer.
A Study on the Influence of Q-filter on Disturbance Observer Controller for Electro-Magnetic Suspension Systems

The disturbance observer (DOB) controller has been widely used in various industrial applications since it is capable of achieving robust stability and disturbance rejection. In this paper, we study the effect of Q-filter on disturbance observer controller for Electro-Magnetic suspension (EMS) systems. We consider three Q-filters and analyze their effects on the robust stability against parameter uncertainties due to mass variation. Moreover, we investigate the influence of sensor noise for three Q-filters. According to our study, robust stability improves as the order of Q-filter decreases. On the other hand, the larger the order of Q-filter, the more the effect of sensor noise can be removed.
