A Study on Image Evaluation consequent on Lighting Environment in time of reading in Learning Space

The aim of this study is to deduce color temperature and illuminance by conducting the preference & affective evaluation consequent on illuminance change of ambient light in case of the lighting method of ambient light mixed with task light in time of reading which is visual work action among the action in learning space. As a result of the prior survey on preferred lighting method in time of the act of reading targeting 20 experts before doing evaluation, the method of lighting mixed with ambient light and task light was found to be the highest. Such a result is analyzed to be attributable to the fact that the less the difference in illuminance of nearby space and work surface because of the mixed method of lighting, the less the glare, which makes a reader feels easy and concentrate on reading. On the basis of descriptive statistics of evaluation results and impact analysis by category, this study recommends the application of combinations of ambient light illuminance ranging from 40lx to 100lx with color temperature of 5500~6000K in case of the method of lighting mixed with general light and task light.
A Study on the Reciprocal Relationship Between Dance Choreography and Stage Lighting

Stage lighting plays a significant role in drawing out the mood and images that are intended by the choreographer. It is related to the dancers` movements and affects them both directly and indirectly. This study is on a reciprocal relationship between dance choreography and stage lighting, covering a broad range of functional factors of lighting effects on the dance choreography. Also, the data on preferred lighting colours and their frequency of usage are gathered through surveys by lighting specialists. The data is used to identify the lighting colour in general dance choreography. It is collected to serve the purpose of providing opportunities to acknowledge the needs of various colour changes on the stage. It is hoped that a collaboration of studies related in this subject are continuously promoted and researched in producing high quality dance performances.
The Centering of the Invariant Feature for the Unfocused Input Character using a Spherical Domain System

TIn this paper, a centering method for an unfocused input character using the spherical domain system and the centering character to use the shift invariant feature for the recognition system is proposed. A system for recognition is implemented using the centroid method with coordinate average values, and the results of an above 78.14% average differential ratio for the character features were obtained. It is possible to extract the shift invariant feature using spherical transformation similar to the human eyeball. The proposed method, which is feature extraction using spherical coordinate transform and transformed extracted data, makes it possible to move the character to the center position of the input plane. Both digital and optical technologies are mixed using a spherical coordinate similar to the 3 dimensional human eyeball for the 2 dimensional plane format. In this paper, a centering character feature using the spherical domain is proposed for character recognition, and possibilities for the recognized possible character shape as well as calculating the differential ratio of the centered character using a centroid method are suggested.
A Study on Description of IEC 61850 based Substation Topology for Implementing the Engineering Tool of Digital Substation

In order to complete engineering works of the digital substation, Both Data transmission among a variety of IEDs and HMIs, and single line diagram of the substation might be done based on XML documents published in IEC 61850 international standards. This kind of XML based engineering process for the digital substation must be implemented not by manual written work but by the engineering tool using a computer. But most of the engineering tools do not support system based engineering works such as single line diagram of the substation but have only function to set IEDs as single device unit. Accordingly, this paper presents a new design method of the system based engineering description applicable to real IEC 61850 based substation through analyzing the current international standard and its sampled engineering file, and shows implementation of the engineering tool of the digital substation with the result of this study.
Dual Current Control Scheme of a Grid-connected Inverter for Power Quality Improvement in Distributed Generation Systems

To improve the power quality of distributed generation (DG) systems even in the presence of distorted grid condition, dual current control scheme of a grid-connected inverter is proposed. The proposed current control scheme is achieved by decomposing the inverter state equations into the fundamental and harmonic components. The derived models are employed to design dual current controllers. The conventional PI decoupling current controller is used in the fundamental model to control the main power flow in DG systems. At the same time, the predictive control is applied in the harmonic model to suppress undesired harmonic currents to zero quickly. To decompose the voltage inputs and state variables into the fundamental and harmonic components, the fourth order band pass filter (BPF) is designed in the discrete-time domain for a digital implementation. For experimental verification, 2kVA prototype of a grid-connected inverter has been constructed using digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320F28335. The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is demonstrated through comparative simulation and experimental results.
Controller Design of Buck-Boost Converter with Constant Voltage Output

The Buck-Boost converter consisted of two switches is more expensive than the conventional Buck converter, because of the increase of the components. However, it can control the DC voltage depending on the requested load voltage without additional circuits, because it can control the voltage under the relatively wide range of the load. Additionally, it can control the output voltage constantly under the variation of the input voltage. In the paper two control loops consisted of current and voltage control are designed. When two controllers are operated at the same time the problem of the output voltage is occurred. Therefore, the solution of the output voltage problem is proposed. Finally, the validity of the proposed scheme is investigated with simulated and experimental results for a prototype system rated at 1kVA.
A Study on the Prioritization of Sectional Switchgear Replacement for Intelligent Distribution Automation in Distribution System

Intelligent distribution automation system includes operating a switchgear of distribution system remotely when switchgear are not available to operate quickly. This system makes it possible to reduce the interrupt time. It also aims to improve the reliability of customers. Currently, Intelligent distribution automation improves the reliability by replacing manual switchgear, which is installed as sectional switchgear. However the prioritization of the replacement for the switchgear is required for its intellectualization. Many studies have been conducted related with prioritization of switchgear replacement. But it is difficult to interpret and apply to the power distribution system. That is because most of the studies just considers customer numbers for prioritizing the replacement. In this paper presents an algorithm to determine the intelligent swichgear replacement priority considering customer number, load quantity and interruption cost. Further, this algorithm is verified by using system reliability index.
Study of Selection Plan of Circuit breakers, Cables and Modeling of Korean Low Voltage Electrical Installation integration Test Site based on IEC 60364

IEC is an international standards which are used in many countries with Europe as the center. IEC standard is introduced in Korea according to WTO/TBT agreements, however until now there are no buildings in Korea which are designed applying IEC standard. Therefore, KEA(Korea Electric Association) is scheduled to construct Korean low voltage electrical installation integration test site which is designed applying IEC standard. In this paper, before being under construction of Korean low voltage electrical installation integration test site, power substation is modeled based on real design parameters and method to select circuit breakers and cables is presented applying IEC standard in the modeled power substation. EMTP(ElctroMagnetic Transient Program) is used for simulation program. EMTP which is power system analysis program is easy to model power system and power substation.
Coordinate and Length of Straight Transmission Line Minimally connecting X-Y axis via a Specific Point

Minimal line length enables low-cost construction of the transmission lines and low-loss transportation of electric power. This paper presents a derivation to determine the coordinate and length of the straight line that minimally connects two perpendicular lines x-axis and y-axis via a specific point, using the optimization technique. The author shows a formula to obtain the minimal length, which is represented by the cube root of the coordinate given by the specific point. Case studies have been also discussed to prove the optimal solutions derived by the proposed formula.
Convenient Thermal Modeling for Loss Distribution method of 3-Level Active NPC Inverter using Newton`s Law of cooling

This paper proposes a convenient thermal modeling method for loss distribution control method of 3-level Active NPC(Neutral Point Clamped) inverter. In the drawback of conventional 3-level NPC, the generated losses can occur unbalance in each switching device, as a result, thermal utilization of designed system has been decreased. In order to compensate unbalanced losses, Active NPC inverter performed loss balancing control with thermal modeling during operation of each switching device. Therefore, this paper deals with a convenient thermal modeling method based on newton`s law of cooling rather than conventional thermal modeling method. Both simulation and experimental results based on 10kW 3-level Active NPC inverter confirm the validity of the analysis performed in the study.
The Method of Reducing the Output Electrolytic Capacitance in Single Stage PFC flyback Converter

LED has been great attentions in lighting industry because of its long life-time, high efficiency, excellent light output characteristics. However, the life-time of the LED driving system is decreased because of the electrolytic capacitor which is used in the power conversion system for driving LED lighting. Therefore the capacitance reduction methods have been studied to replace an electrolytic capacitor with film or tantalum capacitor. This paper presents the Single stage PFC flyback converter with the simplified third harmonic current injection circuit to reduce output capacitance and the proposed system is theoretically analyzed and verified through the experiment.
Current Sensorless Maximum Torque Control of a Synchronous Reluctance Motor

This paper presents a current sensorless maximum torque control of a synchronous reluctance motor drive. Stator current and current angle vs. maximum torque are obtained using measured d-axis and q-axis inductances. Then, d and q-axis stator voltage references for current sensorless maximum torque control are calculated from stator voltage equations. The proposed method is verified by simulation results comparing with conventional method.
An Efficient Battery Charging Algorithm based on State-of-Charge Estimation using 3-Phase AC-DC Boost Converter

This paper presents battery charging method using 3-phase AC-DC boost converter. General battery charging method is that charging the battery voltage to the reference voltage according to the constant current(CC) control, when it reaches the reference voltage, charging the battery fully according to the constant voltage(CV) control. However, battery chaging time is increased because of the battery impedance, constant current charging section which shoud take the large amount of charge is narrow, and constant voltage charging section which can generate insufficient charge is widen. To improve this problem, we proposes the method to reduce the charging time according to the SOC(State of Charge) estimation using battery impedance.
