The Structure Integrity Assessment of the Wall Thinned Elbow Considering In/Out-Plane Bending

Local wall thinning elbow due to the water flow is one of the main degradation phenomenon in carbon steel pipe of plant system. The API579 code of FFS (fitness for service) used in the chemical plant gives a guideline to protect local wall thin problem in a straight pipe, but it does not include an elbow. In this study, the locally wall thinned elbow, which is considered an extrados or intrados wall thinned elbow, was carried out considering in-plane or out-plane bending using FEM (finite element method) analysis, and some of results were also compared with the experimental data. The results could give the structure integrity assessment to protect the local wall thinned elbow.
A Study on NOS Model System for The Construction Work Planing and Management

This study presented a new NOS model through the following suggestions to apply the construction work planing and management to NOS(Network Operating System). First, This study presented CIMS(construction information classification system) reflected the characteristics of facility classification - functional component classification - functional component classification - work classification - resource classification. Based on this system. this study presented how to establish PMMB(performance measurement management baseline) with proposed master target equation which analyzed the trend of performance measurement management baseline and proposed work target equation which analyzed the execution results. Finally, this study presented NOS model that can be applied to fixed price method and cost plus fee method through the theoretical verification of executive performance analysis method.
A Study on A Computerized Input Data Model for A General -Purpose Project Management

The purpose of this study was to establish the initial computerized management database which can be applied to a universal project management computer system for managing universal project management and operation. Database construction model presented in this paper suggested the model of organization, activity and operation of bridge construction(two abutment-three-span) based on the organization information classification system of the facility classification, functional component classification, work classification, resource classification. Database model established in this study are considered to be able to take advantage of a very systematic and scientific management for future universal project management and operations.

We analyze BCM, COOP and other exotic advanced cases for making supporting programs relates with Disaster mitigation management in Public area. The outcome from this study explains what are requirements for proper activating the programs and what we need. In conclusion, we could understand importances of BIA, RA, Disaster mitigation activities, Contingency plan, Training, Correspond to disaster, Management of document except for system managing functions. It will be helpful to build supporting programs by meeting most of requirements of BCM at the same time.
Study on Characteristics of Displacement and Stress of Piers under Adjacent load

Nowdays, adjacent loading bringing enormous harm to the existing bridge in engineering construction. In this paper, the influencing mechanism of adjacent loading to pier and Law of displacement of pier is researched through living examples, and the safe influence area has been defined. Research shows that: the main damages to piers is caused by the side loading; lateral displacement index of pier top surface is more conservative than the pier additional stress index; it is secure when the distance of adjacent load is 0.5 times of the height of accumulation or 6m, otherwise it would be very scary, and the monitoring measure is necessary.

Structural behavior on the steel beam with strengthening bonded carbon plate

The use of advanced composite materials in strengthening and repair of existing structures is increasing rapidly. This paper describes an effectiveness of a bonding of carbon fiber reinforced sheets to corroded steel members for the repair. Three types of surface treatment, what we call cleaning, of corroded plate are chosen as parameters. They are "without cleaning","removal of painting by brushing" and "complete removal of painting". From the experimental study, the following findings are obtained. 1) When the steel plate is subjected to tensile force, carbon fiber sheets adhered to the painted steel gives a higher strength against peeling compared to that of the plate without painting, 2) The grade of surface treatment, or cleaning of the corroded steel plate affects the strengthening effect.

In this study, the impact problems are brought up and the formulation by isoparametric element is attempted for the purpose of analyzing the response characteristics of laminated plate receiving impact load based on the first-order shear deformation theory expanded from the Mindlin plate theory. The result of static analysis and dynamic analysis is drawn through the numerical analysis rectangular and circular plates of antisymmetric Angle-Ply laminated plate using the finite element method and the analysis on each displacement is compared.

In this study, the applicability and validity of collocation method to nonlinear vibration issues in comparison to other solutions are confirmed, and the applicability of collocation method to nonlinear dynamic response issues in comparison to the response curve with F.E.M results is examined. Also, it is also examined how the influence of axial inertia varies according to the size of slenderness ratio.
Development of Rainfall-Flood Damage Estimation Function using Nonlinear Regression Equation

Predicting and estimating the disaster characteristics are very important for disaster planning such as prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. Especially, if we can predict the flood damage before flooding, the predicted or estimated damage will be a very good information to the decision maker for the response and recovery. However, most of the researches, have been performed for calculating disaster damages only after disasters had already happened and there are few studies that are related to the prediction of the damages before disaster. Therefore, the objective of this study was to predict and estimate the flood damages rapidly considering the damage scale and effect before the flood disaster, For this the relationship of rainfall and damage had been suggested using nonlinear regression equation so that it is able to predict the damages according to rainfall. We compared the estimated damages and the actual ones. As a result, the damages were underestimated in 14.16% for Suwon-city and 15.81% for Yangpyeong-town but the damage was overestimated in 37.33% for Icheon-city. The underestimated and overestimated results could be occurred due to the uncertainties involved in natural phenomenon and no considerations of the 4 disaster steps such as prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery which were already performed.. Therefore, we may need the continuous study in this area for reducing various uncertainties and considering various factors related to disasters.
The Proposal of Installations Standards for Commercial Kitchen Automatic Fire System

According to the statistics released by Ministry of Public Safety and Security, the number of restaurant fires in Korea reached around 2,400 and 169 damages of human life and damages to property was approximately over $8.8 billion for recent 3 years. It could be desirable having automatic commercial fire-extinguishing equipment at commercial facilities excluding housing facilities for the safety, applying at the place first where it has been more risky and expected fire can be occurred relatively because economical burden can be accelerated. In order to do this, adjust its level to meet the same level of the kitchen for `Specific Target for Fire Fighting` that "gas leak alarm" has be equipped relevant regulations and it is considered and reasonable to expand the limit of application gradually.
A Study on Freezing Assessment of the Water in the Z-Trap of Sewage Bay

This study clarifies the simulation on freezing of remaining water in the Z-trap set up in the PVC sewage bay to control malodor. It made use of commercial FEM LAB program(ver. 3.2) well known as a solution of the problems arising in the flow of various fluid, heat transfer and mass transfer. Simulation results under the temperature
outwards show that the water in the Z-trap set up in the sewage bay to control malodor freeze in the 60cm under the ground level after 14 days in the wet ground, and after 17 days in the regular ground. On the other hand, if the soil is dry even after the 42 days does not go down below freezing. Therefore, the water in the Z-trap was confirmed that it does not freeze.

The purpose of this study is to present in-vehicle dynamic route guidance systems based upon object-oriented ITS LSA. We expect to apply efficiently for connection and expansion of systems what is more to present systems based upon object-oriented of the other ITS LSA.
A Proposal in Enacting the National Safety Education Bill

This article aims to explain why the National Safety Education bill must be enacted in South Korea. This bill embraces several items, whose goals pursue improving the safety of citizens from disasters and emergencies, and emphasizes letting a citizen take a safety education class. Several scholars declare that a safety education leads a citizen to live in a much safer circumstance by teaching a citizen how to handle emergencies in natural disasters and social disasters. Therefore, it is reasonable that Korean decision-makers consider passing the National Safety Eduction bill.
