Relative Property Evaluation of Pro-Environmental Warm Polymer-Modified Asphalt Binder

In this paper, warm asphalt binder was proposed as a substitute for the polymer-modified asphalt binder to get higher viscosity than that of the polymer-modified at the same temperature. Performance grade test and rotational viscosity of warm asphalt binder were conducted to evaluate the property variations due to the addition of admixture. Research results showed that the viscosity of warm asphalt binder at
was similar to that of the conventional asphalt binder. The performance and durability of warm asphalt binder were also comparable to those of the polymer-modified. It is considered that the active applications of warm asphalt binder can reduce environmental damages due to less diffusions of carbon dioxide compared to the conventional.
A Study on Field Applications of Polymer-Modified Warm Asphalt Concrete Mixture using Admixture

This paper presents the field applications of polymer-modified warm asphalt mixture which can reduce the temperature during the production and field constructions. The amount of fuel consumptions and
diffusions can be reduced by much using the polymer-modified warm asphalt mixture instead of the conventional polymer-modified asphalt mixture. According to the research results, the polymer-modified warm asphalt mixture can be utilized without additional temperature increasement and performance sacrifice during the plant production and public service, respectively. As a result, it is considered that the application of the polymer-modified warm asphalt mixture has the potential of convenience in constructions management and reducing the environmental damages.

Life Saving Planning in Disaster of Skyscraper - Health Related Viewpoint -

Constructions of skyscrapers have been planned and are being performed in Korea, but the research on disaster preparedness and response is mainly focused on construction safety, fire prevention and response, and legal enforcement. So research on physical and psychological effect on human residents, methodology of increased survival rate and decreased disability rate is insufficient. Authors intended to identify the characteristics of skyscraper on human health and safety in disaster, to examine the basic influence of skyscraper on physical and psychological health and the way to decrease the negative effect on human survival.
An Experimental Study on The Differential Dry Shrinkage of Concrete Using Artificial Lightweight Aggregate

Exposure to the outside, the concrete is differential moisture distribution depending on the depth. Such a differential moisture distribution causes the differential drying shrinkage in concrete structures. This thesis is researched to compare the shrinkage of lightweight concrete depending on depth to normal concrete. It is used artificial lightweight aggregate which has 20% of pre-absorb value by lightweight concrete. When water-binder ratio is 30%, average shrinkage of lightweight concrete section decreased than normal concrete, but differential shrinkage of lightweight concrete section increased. However water-binder ratio is 40% and 50% average shrinkage and differential shrinkage of lightweight concrete section decreased than normal concrete.
Quantitative Risk Assessment Method for Deep Placed Underground Spaces

As the necessity to utilize deep-placed underground spaces is increasing, we have to seriously consider the safety problems arising from the U/G spaces which is a restricted environment. Due to the higher cost of land compensation for above ground area and environmental issues, the plan to utilize deep-placed U/G spaces is currently only being established for the construction of U/G road network and GTX. However it is also expected that the U/G spaces are to be used as a living space because of the growing desires to change the above ground areas into the environmentally green spaces. Accordingly it is necessary to protect the U/G environments which is vulnerable against desasters caused by fire, explosion, flooding" terrorism, electric power failure, etc. properly. We want to introduce the principles of the Quantitative Risk Assessment(QRA) method for preparedness against the desasters arising from U/G environments, and also want to introduce an example of QRA which was implemented for the GOTTHARD tunnel which is the longest one in Europe.
Actual Conditions of Cyberbullying and the Countermeasure

The purpose of this study is to find the exact state of cyberbullying and the countermeasure for it. cyberbullying is characterized by having the wideness, the anonymity and the intellectualization unlike the harassment of off-line. The result of this study, the cyberbullying is increased through the e-mail, cellular phone, and website around the teenagers. In particular, the cyberbullying has appeared mainly among the same age friends, it is proved that i띠urers inflict the harassment mainly at their own place and the ratio of the harassment by one self is higher than many. In addition, it is quite probable that the i띠urer-student who inflicts the harassment in off-line also can do it in on-line and to attack the cyberbullying is easy to find by the student who is indulged himself in internet use. Therefore, it is presented that the countermeasure in educational side and systematic side on this study. First on the educational side, there are presented the practice of the preventive education against the cyberbullying, expansion of the preventive schools for the cyber ethics and cyber crime and strengthening of the guideline for students in cyberspace. Second on the systematic side, there are presented the appointment of various committee, to strengthen the protection of damaged students, preparation of laws for cyberbullying, expansion of information office for internet addiction, improvement of the system for the school custodian and to extend the operating for cyber clearness school.
Fatigue characteristics of the IT girder for railroad

In designing a railroad bridge, the fatigue is one of the main factors to be considered for ensuring safe operation. Especially, for a new type of a structural member, which has not been adopted to railroad bridges, the fatigue performance should be checked. In this paper, the fatigue characteristics of an IT girder are examined. The IT girder is a new type of a prestressed concrete girder which has two prestressed H-beams in the top of the girder to give the girder additional sectional capacity. To obtain the fatigue performance, a 10m IT girder specimen is designed, and a repeated load test is performed by applying the load cyclically two million times. The magnitude of the repeated load is determined considering the stress level under the service condition. During the test, static load tests are performed to identify the stiffness degradation. The fatigue performance of the girder is checked according to the Japanese and the CEB-FIB design codes. The fatigue test result shows that the IT girder satisfies both design codes.
