Automatic Methods for Selecting Comparative Standard Land Parcels Using Spatial Multicriteria Making Rules
Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 11, issue 1, 2003, Pages 1~12
Currently, selecting comparative standard land parcels for evaluating individual public land price is done by cadastral officers manually. Due to the amount of land parcels to be evaluated in a short period of time and the subjective methodology adopted, the results are not satisfactory and affect the final individual public land price evaluation. This study aims to develop, implement, and test a new automatic and objective methodology for selecting comparative standard land parcels using spatial multi criteria decision making rules. We conclude that spatial multiattribute decision making rules perform very well in this kind of problem and especially an AHP based method is highly appropriate for this purpose.
Extraction of DEM in the Southern Tidal Flat of Kanghwa Island using Satellite Image
Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 11, issue 1, 2003, Pages 13~22
The study of geomorphology of tidal flat using remote sensing image has been considered useful because of it's ability to acquire data periodically. Especially, the Near Infrared band of satellite image has been used to divide between land and sea area. This study extracted a borderline of the tidal flat using Landsat-5 images and generated DEM(Digital elevation model) using tide level data as elevation value. DEM is a useful tool for three-dimensional survey of geomorphology and can be used for survey of tidal flat. This study divided 8 images of 1990's into two parts - before 1994 and after 1994 - and generated DEM respectively. In this work, the areas of tidal flats are calculated and it was revealed the area of tidal flat was decreased after 1994.
The efficiency analysis of TIN construction considering DEM standard error
Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 11, issue 1, 2003, Pages 23~32
TIN is applied in pondage calculation and topography analysis. And much processing time and storage capacity are needed because TIN contains information as elevation, slope and aspect. In the construction of TIN using contour, weed tolerance that is used for the simplification of line is influenced on the sampling distance of contour. The processing time and storage capacity of TIN are calculated in according to the weed tolerance of various size in this research. And we estimated OEMs standard error that is created from TIN to present reasonable weed tolerance and decided the size of weed tolerance that satisfy DEM standard error. We got TINs weed tolerance that satisfy DEM standard error(5m) was 70m and DEMs resolution is 20m as estimation result.
A Study on the design of Database for photograph of Road Facilities
Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 11, issue 1, 2003, Pages 33~40
For effective management of information about establishment and repair of road and road facilities, we built GPS-Van mapping system that CCD Cameras, GPS receivers and INS are integrated and using it surveyed test area. Suggested a scheme that possible put acquired data into photo database systematically. Prototype of road facilities management system using the database shows us that extraction of qualitative information and management are possible through relation attribute information. And it raise cognitive faculty of user about objects using field photographs.
Validity Evaluation of Real Time Mobile GIS combined with PDA in University Building Facility Management
Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 11, issue 1, 2003, Pages 41~60
It is noted that the paper mapping system for University Building Facility has many limitations in terms of data maintenance, real-time GIS data acquisition, and economic efficiency. The aim of this research was to evaluate an operational potential of an on site real-time mobile GIS technique to resolve the problem faced in the university. The idea is based upon the recent trends in the field of 'Telecommunication and Information Technology' that uses a PDA (personal Digital Assistants), wireless network computing, mobile computing, etc. A real time mobile GIS approach has been adopted, in which a PDA is linked to a wireless internet and field workers record data on the computer at the site and analyse data on site. While there should be a considerable number and variety of factors associated with real-time mobile GIS quality, this research focuses on three criteria that are identified as fundamental to customer requirements; (1) data quarry (2) spatial analysis (3) real-time GIS database building. 'Art--empirical study for a case study facility has been conducted to confirm the validity for the system. The system has been checked experimentally, enabled the field users to quarry the data required simply and execute spatial analysis (buffer, overlay etc.,) accommodating versatile alternatives on the site. Detailed visual maps can be generated over large areas quickly and easily. The PDA interface, in particular, were ideally suited for field users to interactively displaying positional information with attribute data. This system has shown to be quite convenient to maintaining a highly reliable database since it could playa crucial role in documenting at real-time basis temporal and spatial changes occurred in the facilities. It is anticipated that this research output will greatly serve to introduce the reliable and cost-effective facility mapping system in the university by overcoming serious constraints suffered from the past non-real time mobile GIS approach.
A Study on Mobile SFA System Prototyping Using P2P LBS Service
Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 11, issue 1, 2003, Pages 61~72
LBS has attracted considerable attention with the spread of high performance mobile devices and the expansion of mobile business. Our study starts from the recognition of the problems associated with the current mobile Sales Force Automation(SFA) which is one of the application domain of LBS: they lack the capabilities such as an efficient sharing of information. This paper presents a technical framework in which the location information on the move and the mobile P2P service are utilized for the realization of truly mobile SF A platforms. Major contributions of our study include feasible prototyping of gCRM middleware via which the location-based services on the move are enabled, and a agent module involving the P2P service for mobile clients.
Development of effective management strategy for geographical database based on the concept of intellectual property rights
Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 11, issue 1, 2003, Pages 73~88
Geographical data sets are expensive to create and are very easy to copy because the intellectual property rights for the distribution should be protected. The main object of copyright law is to encourage expression of ideas in tangible form and it extend only to original works, it is limited to control the balance of interests between data producers and user. Because the development of a useful legal framework for both private and public activity in this field is an important issue. This paper presents an intial attempt at such a the effective management strategy intended to support continuing research into the legal protection of geographical information.
A Study of GIS Education in Secondary School - A Case study of High School
Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 11, issue 1, 2003, Pages 89~100
The purpose of this study is to search GIS education in High School in Korea. Firstly, Expanded Content of GIS in the 7th National Curriculum call upon increased demand of GIS education. Secondly, It is urgent to development of GIS Education Program, There is insufficient practical instruction of GIS in High School because of ill-equipped environment. For that reason we proposed GIS program. Thirdly, It is necessary to integrate between 'Instruction about GIS' and 'GIS Assisted Instruction' in School. Finally, It is necessary to systematically prepare and study of GIS Education for the future National Curriculum.
