Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 14, issue 1, 2006, Pages 1~13
To understand road state more quickly and accurately, KICT(Korea Institute of Construction Technology) executing a project that acquire high resolution color CCD images of the whole national highway every 10m, and offer images to the HMS(Highway Management System). At this time, national highway images of the Kyeonggki-Do, Kangwon-Do and Chungcheong-Do province were linked to the HMS and being offered to user. In this paper, from acquisition using highway photologging vehicle to database construction, the whole image-related data processes are described such as match images with their positions one to one or rearrange data acquired by road line to by management office.

Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 14, issue 1, 2006, Pages 15~27
This paper is about the threshold discharge computation using GIUH(Geomorphoclimatic Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph) on ungauged small basin. GIUH is one of the possible approaches to predicting the hydrograph characteristics. This study is calculated the various ways which are hydrologic characteristics, bankfull flows, unit peak flows(the Clark, the Nakayasu and the S.C.S) as well as threshold runoffs on about
scale at Kyungbuk gampo in subbasin. We are estimated propriety that peak discharge calculated the GIUH from acquiring data by GIS(Geographic Information System) compared to observed peak discharge. And, the threshold discharge was calculated by NRCS(Natural Resources Conservation Service) for a flash flood standard rainfall.

Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 14, issue 1, 2006, Pages 29~41
Geostatistical data are obtained only at selected sites even though they are potentially available at any location In a continuous surface. Therefore it is necessary to estimate the unknown values at unsampled locations based on observations. In this study we compared the accuracy of 5 spatial interpolation methods: local trend surface, IDW, RBF, ordinary kriging, universal kriging. These interpolation methods were applied to annual rainfall data. As the results of validation tests, universal kriging with gaussian variogram model showed the best accuracy in comparison with other interpolation methods. In the case of kriging, the predicted values were more accurate and within a more narrow range than other methods. In contrast with kriging, local trend surface analysis, IDW and RBF showed the wide range of predicted values and abrupt changes between neighbors.

Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 14, issue 1, 2006, Pages 57~65
In general, the investigation for reservoir dredging are conducting a observation on the horizontal position and the depth of water by assembling GPS/Echo Sounder and Total Station/Echo Sounder, and it is computed at a section computation of riverbed, reservoir volume and dredging plan etc. at that times, the detail plane is determinated about soil volume, height for dredging. Planning has a fault that the method of sound detection using the Echo Sounder doesn't check up distribution of reservoir deposit. In this study, the author emphasizes that implementation of dredging with combined Global Positioning System(GPS) and Ground Penetration Radar(GPR) is well-done more than existed GPS/Echo Sounder. the combined equipment can be adapted to computation and dredging reffering to distribution of deposition. First of all, it is executed water tank modelling test through sampling for apply to test area and is estimated the possibility after passed far accuracy verification of equipment.

Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 14, issue 1, 2006, Pages 67~83
The cadastral system of our country is same as Japanese 2D-cadastral system. Recently, not only surface but ground and underground is became the developable space, so today the management of cadastre becomes more difficult to preserve each ownership of properties and to manage the nation lade efficiently. Consequently, we are in need of the 3D-cadastral information system for handle with whole cadastre information. In this paper, we propose the efficiently registrating strategies and more stabile construction technique for the 3D-cadastral information system.
A Study on the Improvement of Image Fusion Accuracy Using Smoothing Filter-based Replacement Method
Yun Kong-Hyun ;
Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 14, issue 1, 2006, Pages 85~94
Image fusion techniques are widely used to integrate a lower spatial resolution multispectral image with a higher spatial resolution panchromatic image. However, the existing techniques either cannot avoid distorting the image spectral properties or involve complicated and time-consuming decomposition and reconstruction processing in the case of wavelet transform-based fusion. In this study a simple spectral preserve fusion technique: the Smoothing Filter-based Replacement(SFR) is proposed based on a simplified solar radiation and land surface reflection model. By using a ratio between a higher resolution image and its low pass filtered (with a smoothing filter) image, spatial details can be injected to a co-registered lower resolution multispectral image minimizing its spectral properties and contrast. The technique can be applied to improve spatial resolution for either colour composites or individual bands. The fidelity to spectral property and the spatial quality of SFM are convincingly demonstrated by an image fusion experiment using IKONOS panchromatic and multispectral images. The visual evaluation and statistical analysis compared with other image fusion techniques confirmed that SFR is a better fusion technique for preserving spectral information.

Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 14, issue 1, 2006, Pages 95~113
The standardization of Intelligent Transport Systems(ITS) technique should secure a interoperability among the different softwares or hardwares on ITS service. The domestic standard research takes the advantage of a preoccupation on the world ITS market through the international standard(IS) reflecting the domestic technique. The objective of this research focused on the database technology for ITS is to introduce the domestic standard activity for adopting ISs and the current interior corresponding situation against ISs. The first step, we analyze the international standardization action through gathering and investigating the up-to-date issues and documentations focused on ISO/TC204 WG3. And then, we look into the domestic situation about TTA ITS PG 310 and ITS Korea. consequently, a synthetic view, we have analyzied, how interior standard corresponds with the international standards, and how the standard establishing process is being done. The expectation of this research is to help understanding the up-to-date domestic/international standardization and the situation of the standard action related with the database technology for ITS. Also, we take advantage of this result to encourage the international competitiveness on ITS market.

The aim of the study is to select and verify for development of groundwater resources using Geographic Information System(GIS). The water balance, land cover, forest, soil, elevation, slope, hydrogeology and lineament were analyzed. Using GIS, relationship between the data and groundwater yield data was analyzed and the groundwater resources potential map was made for selecting suitable area for groundwater development. Then groundwater resource potential map was verified using groundwater yield data. The verified result showed the good agreement between the potential map and groundwater yield data. The potential map can be used for groundwater management which is related to groundwater development.

Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 14, issue 1, 2006, Pages 129~150
Mineral potential mapping is an important procedure in mineral resource assessment. The purpose of this study is to analyze mineral potential using weight of evidence model and a Geographic Information System (GIS) environment to identify areas that have not been subjected to the same degree of exploration. For this, a variety of spatial geological data were compiled, evaluated and integrated to produce a map of potential mineral in the Gangreung area, Korea. for this, a spatial database considering mineral deposit, topographic, geologic, geophysical and geochemical data was constructed for the study area using a GIS. The used mineral deposits were non-metallic(Kaolin, Porcelainstone, Silicastone, Mica, Nephrite, Limestone and Pyrophyllite) deposits of sedimentary type. The factors relating to mineral deposits were the geological data such as lithology and fault structure, geochemical data, including the abundance of Al, As, Ba, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, Pb, Si, Sr, V, Zn,
, Eh, PH and conductivity and geophysical data, including the Bouguer and magnetic anomalies. These factors were used with weight of evidence model to analyze mineral potential. Probability models using the weight of evidence were applied to extract the relationship between mineral deposits and related factors, and the ratio were calculated. Then the potential indices were calculated by summation of the likelihood ratio and mineral potential maps were constructed from Geographic Information System (GIS). The mineral potential maps were then verified by comparison with the known mineral deposit areas. The result showed the 85.66% in prediction accuracy.

This paper has a goal to construct monitoring web GIS system which displays maps that are results of the fire detecting algorithms using MODIS image. To design and build more efficient system, foreign fire monitoring systems using satellite image are researched and analyzed. As a result of that, the information about interfaces and services provided by them are obtained. In concretely, new logical DFD is used to do a process modelling. ArcIMS 4.0 of ESRI, IIS 5.1 of Microsoft are utilized to build the web GIS System. In the aspects of data input and transfer, a specific module, which converts a binary image to a kind of vector file, is developed to adjust raster data to the web GIS system.

Journal of Korea Spatial Information Society, volume 14, issue 1, 2006, Pages 163~176
The concept of 'spatial association' explains spatial distribution pattern of geographical phenomenon based on similarity with neighborhoods, as in the Tobler's Law of Geography: 'Everything is related to everything else, but near things are more related than distant things.' In this study, we develop a time-series exploratory analysis tool for discovering temporal patterns of spatial association by combining spatial statistics and geo-visualization, and thus present a possibility to support spatial decision-making process. As for the spatial proximity weight matrix indispensable to measuring global and local spatial association, we employ a variety of flexible weighting schemes using geometric characteristics of areal unit. In addition, we renovate the existing visualization methods for more effective understanding of the procedures and results of time-series analysis on spatial association: for instance, temporal parallel coordinate plot with box plot, animated map for spatial association, and 3D Moran scatterplot. The feasibility of our system is verified by time-series analysis experiments on the spatial association of land price fluctuation rate for all administrative units in Korea,
