Basic Concepts of Indoor Spatial Information Candidate Standard IndoorGML and its Applications

Indoor space is a new horizon of spatial information services. With recent progress of indoor positioning technologies and mobile devices such as smart phones, indoor spatial information services become available and an emerging market. Accordingly, exchanging and sharing indoor spatial information between independent services become an important issue. For this reason, a standardization working group, called IndoorGML has been launched last year in OGC with the aim of publishing IndoorGML standard by September, 2013. Its primary goal is to provide a framework for representing network topology in indoor space, which is a fundamental element of indoor LBS. In this paper, we will explain the basic concepts of indoorGML and discuss the modeling issues. And several application use-cases of IndoorGML will be also presented in this paper.
Background and Local Histogram-Based Object Tracking Approach

Compared with traditional video monitoring systems that provide a video-recording function as a main service, an intelligent video monitoring system is capable of extracting/tracking objects and detecting events such as car accidents, traffic congestion, pedestrian detection, and so on. Thus, the object tracking is an essential function for various intelligent video monitoring and surveillance systems. In this paper, we propose a background and local histogram-based object tracking approach for intelligent video monitoring systems. For robust object tracking in a live situation, the result of optical flow and local histogram verification are combined with the result of background subtraction. In the proposed approach, local histogram verification allows the system to track target objects more reliably when the local histogram of LK position is not similar to the previous histogram. Experimental results are provided to show the proposed tracking algorithm is robust in object occlusion and scale change situation.
Development of 3-D GIS based Expression System for Utilization of Submarine Mineral Resource Exploration Data

Recently, interest of submarine mineral resources has been increasing from the depletion of land resources around the world and many countries are involving in submarine mineral resource exploration work. South Korea is also in progress of mineral exploration and relevant study to ensure the submarine mineral resources from around the Korean Peninsula. As a result, the submarine mineral resource exploration data have been increasing annually. A database and 2D GIS-based system have been constructed for the management of the data. However, submarine mineral resource exploration data is explored and created on the sea-bed. Consequently, the visual confirmation of the water levels and marine landform is important for high dimension analysis. Therefore, the major aims of this study are to collect marine landform data from around the Korean Peninsula and to develop 3 dimension GIS based system that is linked to the submarine mineral resource exploration data. In detail, marine landform data were acquired for the Korean Peninsula and they were interpolated into raster file format. The raster file was then processed to be easily used and was entered into an Oracle database. Based on this database, 3D expression and overlap function between marine landform data and submarine mineral resource exploration data were designed using ArcScene offered by the ESRI. After design, 3D GIS based expression system was developed. Confirmations of locations and changes in the submarine mineral resource exploration data based on 3D GIS are enabled to support the efficient application of the proposed system. It is expected that this system will be highly useful for estimating the reserves of mineral resources and for providing valuable information for economic evaluations.
Application and Evaluation of Vector Map Watermarking Algorithm for Robustness Enhancement

Although the vector map data possesses much higher values than other types of multimedia, the data copyright and the protection against illegal duplication are still far away from the attention. This paper proposes a novel watermarking technique which is both robust to diverse attacks and optimized to a vector map structure. Six approaches are proposed for the design of the watermarking algorithm: point-based approach, building a minimum perimeter triangle, watermark embedding in the length ratio, referencing to the pixel position of the watermark image, grouping, and using the one-way function. Our method preserves the characteristics of watermarking such as embedding effectiveness, fidelity, and false positive rate, while maintaining robustness to all types of attack except a noise attack. Furthermore, our method is a blind scheme in which robustness is independent of the map data. Finally, our method provides a solution to the challenging issue of degraded robustness under severe simplification attacks.

Developing methodology of 3D Cadaster Feature Model using Cadastre Process Analysis

In the modern society, as the city grows and constructive technology gradually develops, land usage has been sophisticated and three-dimensionalized. Consequently, issues such as property ownership and legal claim over ground and underground space have been triggered, which disclose the problems of using two-dimensional cadastral management system. Numerous researches on building three-dimensional cadastral are ongoing such as defining the right relationship of land space and providing the registration and management scheme so as to solve the imminent matter. It is the chief aim of this study to increase efficiency by analyzing the vocational practices through adding on necessary sections and properties for current registration to original research work. If three-dimensional cadastral management system is once constructed, highly qualified services for citizens will be available by providing accurate land related information swiftly, which can result in inevitable improvement of efficiency at work. Hence, this thesis will suggest the internationally suitable feature model development method in terms of standardization by probing into the factual profession to derive each attributes and properties that are related to three-dimensional cadastral and affix them to the classified item requisites of initial research studies.
An Evaluation for Balanced Management of Bicycle Facilities -Testing on Station Influence Areas in Songpa District

Continuous management of bicycle facilities is needed, as uses of bicycles are increased. In the previous studies, evaluation of bicycle facilities were performed mainly from the surveys to bicycle users and experts. This study aims to evaluate the facilities for bicycle uses by setting up the quantitative assessing measures for the purpose of contributing to balanced management of the facilities for bicycle uses. Based on the existing measures provided in the previous studies about conditions for bicycles users, the variables of the facilities that are available and quantifiable were derived, and the scales of the facilities were set up. For evaluation, the station influence areas in Songpa District were selected as test areas. The methods for analysis were, first, to carry out the 'bicycle roads-facilities' analysis, which was modified from quadrant method. Consequently, individual facilities and station areas were relatively examined. Second, by principal component analysis, bicycle facilities were analyzed in a general and integrated way. From that, the variables sharing common characteristics were grouped, similar types of stations influence areas were found out, and then the groups were ranked.
A Study on the Lightweight BIM Shape Format(LBSF) Structure Development to Represent the Large Volume BIM Geometry Objects based on GIS as the Viewpoint of the Building Facility Management

The purpose of this study focuses on the development of the lightweight BIM shape format(LBSF) structure to present the large volume BIM geometry object based on GIS as the viewpoint of the building facility management. Recently, the BIM-based facility management with GIS is researching with the purpose of the urban facility management etc. To implement these use-cases, the BIM geometry objects can be visualized based on urban level with GIS effectively. To do this, the lightweight BIM shape format is designed with the considerations and the prototype for the pilot test is implemented. In the pilot test phase, after developing the IFC file and LBSF file about the model data of the three areas, the performance with the data volume, the screen loading time etc was compared.
A Study on the Construction of Indoor Spatial Information using a Terrestrial LiDAR

Recently, importance of indoor space is on the rise, as larger and more complex buildings are taking place due to development of building technology. Accordingly, range of the target area of spatial information service is rapidly expanding from outdoor space to indoor space. Various demands for indoor spatial information are expected to be created in the future through development of high technologies such as IT Mobile and convergence with various area. Thus this research takes a look at available methods for building indoor spatial information and then builds high accuracy three-dimensional indoor spatial information using indoor high accuracy laser survey and 3D vector process technique. The accuracy of built 3D indoor model is evaluated by overlap analysis method refer to a digital map, and the result showed that it could guarantee its positional accuracy within 0.04m on the x-axis, 0.06m on the y-axis. This result could be used as a fundamental data for building indoor spatial data and for integrated use of indoor and outdoor spatial information.
