Multi-Buffer Zone Analysis of Geo-Based Integrated Thematic Mappable Information by Using GIS

GIS has been regarded as one of important tools or methodologies for various geoscience applications. Recently, spatial data integration schemes for site-specific or field-specific thematic mapping are newly developed and utilized. However, these kinds of approaches are somewhat insufficient quantitative assessment of integrated layers towards known targets in-detailed . Moreover, GIS analysis scheme is rarely extended to scientific approaches. In this study, simple approach of Multi-Buffer Zone Analysis , related to GIS analystical aspect, is addressed and an actual application for predicting or favorable mapping of mineral occurrences, one of GIS-based geoscientific approaches, is performed, As for geo-processing in GIS itself, this scheme can be regarded as extension or adaptiation of cell-based buffering or proximity analysis to geoscientific data interpretation. This study is based on rationale that surface geological pattern around primitives such as a point, a line, or a polygon in GIS, representing significant geological features, can be efficiently utilized to delineate complex geological behaviors or events, especially handling multiple dta sets originated from multiple sources such as airborne geophysical/radiometric exploration, field survey, and even a classified image of remote sensing. Conclusively, this methodology associated wit GIS is though to be helpful to analyze the spatial pattern of multiple data, pointing given sources, and is expected to effectively utilize for exploratory analysis of cell-based resultant layer integrated with complex or different data sources.
A Study on OLE/COM-based GIS Data Provider Component Development Toward Application System Development

Recently , as GIS technology is rapidly improved and stabilized, there are some needs to reuse pre-developed and powerful GIS technology. GIS standardization based on components and open interfaces becomes a way to solve those reusability of previous GIS technology. This GIS standardization currently focuses on building the GIS Data Infrastructure that is being deployed globally. Especially, OpenGIS consortium which is mainly made up of international GIS leading vendors is announcing some GIS abstract specifications and implementation specifications. This study focuses on how could we design and implement the OLE/COM-based data provider component based on various DBMS or file systems, how could these data provider components be used for enterprise UIS(Urban Information Systems) and how could various formatted GIS data be shared in one system. Also some problems practically caused by an implementation process of data provider component are listed up and some solutions are given. Furthermore, design and analysis of UML(Unified Modeling Language) was reformed through the data provider component development task and this UML methodology is able to indicate a standardized model for newly developed data provider component.
Development of Fuzzy Inference Mechanism for Intelligent Data and Information Processing

Data and information necessary for solving the spatial decision making problems are imperfect or inaccurate and most are described by natural language. In order to process these arts of information by the computer, the obscure linguistic value need to be described quantitatively to let and computer understand natural language used by humans. For this , the fuzzy set theory and the fuzzy logic are used representative methodology. So this paper describes the construction of the language model by the natural language that user easily can understand and the logical concepts and construction process for building the fuzzy inference mechanism. It makes possible to solve the space related decision making problems intellectually through structuring and inference used by the computer, in case of the evaluation concern or decision making problems are described inaccurate, based on the inaccurate or indistinct data and information.
Development of AVL-GIS System Using IDGPS and Wireless Communication Techniques

In this research, AVL-GIS(Automatic Vehicle Location System linked with Geographic Information System) system was developed using integration of core techniques of GIS engine written by Java language, GOS(Global Positioning System) and wireless telecommunication interfacing techniques. IDGPS(Inverted differential GPS) techniques was employed to estimate accurate position of mobile vehicle and to supervise their path from AVL-GLS control center system. Between mobile vehicle and AVL-GLS control center system which has spatial data analysis function, road network and rleate ddata base were connected wireless phone to communicate for position an dmessage in real time. The developed system from this research has more enhanced GIS functions rather than previous AVL oriented system which has MDT for message display and voice communication only. This system can support build-up application system such as fleet management like bus, taxi, truck, disaster and emergency and monitoring of transportation status for customer s order via web browser in filed of EC/CALS in low cost.
The Site Selection of Waste Incinerator Using Fuzzy Sets and AHP Theory

Recently, the need of wast incineratory has been recognized. However, the waste incinerator is considered the typical example of NYMB syndrome as a locally unwanted facilities. Therefore, the site selection of waste incineratory should be determined very carefully with consideration of various location factors. The purpose of this study is to provide a new decision-making process model for site selection that provides a rational and a systematic way. The fuzzy set theory and AHP theory, which have merits to overcome uncertainly and complexity of spatial data, are applied to select candidate sites for the waste incineratory. The method is able to produce a more flexible and objective solution for selecting suitability sites in comparison to rigid boolean logic. The result of this study shows that geographic information systems have clear implication for informing the spatial decision making process.
A New Implementation Strategy and Conceptual System Architecture for the Seoul Metropolitan Government's GIS

Seoul metropolitan government has produced fundamental digital map products and developed various GIS applications for years according to the GIS implementation plan established in 1995. However, the city's recent organization restructuring and prioritized large scale database construction projects for unemployed workers have changed the original GIS implementation schedule. The information strategy plan for the Seoul metropolitan government that represents development and use of common organization -wide database and seeks for providing high quality information services for citizens also require reestablishing the city's GIS implementation strategy. This paper discusses a new implementation strategy and suggests conceptual system architecture for the Seoul metropolitan government's GIS in order to implement a comprehensive urban information system(UIS) based on contemporary GIS technologies.
A Experimental Study on the Translation from Korean Digital Topographic Maps to Distributed Objects

This is an experimental study to translate the Korean digital topographic maps into distributable information-hide objects, which are designed with object-oriented development's key features ; encapsulation, polymorphism, inheritance, In order to achieve this goal , the characteristics of the data mode and inter-relationships of digital topographic maps are investigated . As a result, it is revealed that the current Korean digital topographic maps, which is organized into so many individual layers of mixed spatial and attributed data, have to explicit and concrete hierarchies in spatial data model and data definition . Due to this limitation , data layer stage and object class stage are integrated. And ISCO(the is-computer -of relationships) mechanism is mainly used to develop the objects of digital topogrpahic maps, which is implemented with spatial primitive classes. the designed objects are coded with JAVA and then testified in web interface.
Performance of Spatial Join Operations using Multi-Attribute Access Methods

In this paper, we derived an efficient indexing scheme, SJ tree, which handles multi-attribute data and spatial join operations efficiently. In addition, a number of algorithms for manipulating multi-attribute data are given , together with their computational and I/O complexity . Moreover , we how that SJ tree is a kind of generalized B-tree. This means that SJ-tree can be easily implemented on existing built-in B-tree in most storage managers in the sense that the structure of SJ tree is like that of B-tree. The spatial join operation with spatial output is benchmarked using R-tree, B-tree, K-D-B tree, and SJ tree. Results from the benchmark test indicate that SJ tree out performance other indexing schemes on spatial join with point data.
A Comprehensive Study On Construction of Digital Image Database Using Airphoto

Airphotos taken for the management of unauthorized houses in large cities like Seoul are very important material for understanding periodic change of topogrpahy. A research on construction of digital database using airphoto are required for the efficient management of existing airphotos, for the easy and better understanding of topography together with 1; 1,000 digital topographic map, and for the easy updating of topographic data. Digital data using 1 ; 5, 000 scale airphoto scanned 1,000 dpi has been experimentally constructed from georeferenced images to orthorectified images. The technical and economical possibilities for the construction of digital database using apripjoto have been checked based on the experimentation and future direction of how to make digital database using existing airphoto has been suggested.
