Taxonomical Study on the genus Entoloma of Korea

The species of the genus Entoloma recorded in Korea until now are arranged with Korean Entoloma monography. It was made with modified keys of classification of Hesler and Noordeloos. On the basis of it, the genus Entoloma of Korea is classified into 7 subgenera, 10 sections, and 80 species.
Effects of Growth Regulators on the Germination of Rhodiola elongata Fisch. et Mey

This study was attempted to establish the propagation and cultivation methods of Rhodiola elongata Fisch. et Mey. as a part of development of northern plant resources. Seeds were treated and investingated at the 15, 20, 25
and 100, 200, 400, 800ppm of the growth regulator

Basidiospore Development and Fine Structure of Entoloma

Apexes of basidia in Rhodophyllus(synonyum of Entoloma) muraii var. albus are divided into four sections or depressed in the center. A spore is formed by inflation of the apex of the sterigma. The apex of the sterigma is swollen and changed from a papilla through a penisform and a club into a globeform. Six spots of globose spore are regularly or irregularly depressed with hilum axes. Finally the spores are cuboid. Basidia of Entoloma squamiferrum are developed from hymenium layer of crator-shaped parabasidium. Apex of basidium is flat or depressed in the center. Although four sterigmata are developed, only two sterigmata are symmetrically swollen to two spores in certain basidia. It means that two sterigmata among four sterigmata are infertile. The apex of the sterigma is swollen into a paillaform, and then turned into a penisform. It is swollen from a clubform into a globeform. Six spots of the surfaces of globose spore are deperssed with hilum axes. Finally the spore is cuboid, and then it is released from hilum. Four sterigmata of papillaform of E. violaceobrunneum are developed from cartor-shaped basidium. The apex of sterigma is swollen to a small globeform. And then it is swollen to a clubform. The clubform is again swollen to a ellipticalform, and then more than six spots of spore surfaces are ramomly depressed with hium axes. When the depression of surface of a elliptical spore is over, it is the multi-angular spore of the heterometrical-form.
Studies on the Germination Physiology, Growth and Component Analysis of Agastache rugosa KUNTZE

The experiment was carried out to study the influence of seeding dates, planting densities and fertilizer application levels on some agronmic characters and yield of fresh weight in Agastache rugosa. The results obtained are summarized as follow; Fresh weight was increased on Apr. 1 seeding date. Therefore, optimum time for sowing was on Apr. 1. Stem length was long in dense planting and short in spacious planting. Stem diameter was thick in spacious planting, and was thin in dense planting. Yield was higher in dense planting densities(

Screening for Antitumor Efficacy from the medical plants in Korea and Japan

21plants, which collected from Korea and Japan, were applied to antitumor and cytotoxic screening tests against sarcoma 180 a ascitec in mice. The results are summariged as follows : 1) The total packed cell volume method has been used for the antimeoplastic screening for from natural higher plants in Korea. By this method, we have found out that Selaginella involves, Patrinia hispida, Archyranthes japonica and Solanum nigrum having significant activity and also Cydonia sinensis and Rubia akane showed slight activity to antitumor 2) The total packed cell volune method has been used for the antineoplastic screening for from natural higher plants in Japan. Among the 21 tested plants, lsodon japonicus having strong antitumor activity and also Torilis japonica, Aralia elata, Leonurus sibiricus and Rubia cordifolia showed significant activity to anticancer tumor while Forsythia spp and Solanum nigrum showed slight activity to antitumor. 3) Among the 21 tested Korea plants, lsodon excisus and Forsythia Koreana showed strong antitumor activity by the V79 cytotoxic cell screening test.

In Vitro Mass Propagation and Soil Adjastment of Zanthoxylum piperitum var. inerme Makino through Apical Meristem Culture

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of growth regulators and medium composition on the growth of each stage in apical meristem culture for mass propagation of Zanthoxylum piperitum var. inerme Makino. The source material, shoot tip segments were taken from three-years old graft trees. Apical meristems were cultured in vitro on basal MS, GD, WS, half strength MS(1/2MS) and half strength GD(1/2GD) media supplemented with various concentrations for growth regulators(BA, IBA) and inorganic nutrients. The results summarized are as follows: 1. In culture establishment stage, ratio of culture establishment was 96.7% and the best resuit was obtained using MS medium supplemented with 1.0mg/l BA and 0.2mg/l IBA. 2. In shoot multitication stage, both shoot multiplication and growth were achieved in average 5.6cm. These results were obtained on in MS medium supplemented with 1.0mg/l BA and 0.2mg/l IBA. 3. In roothing stage, phloroglucinol(PG) acted as IBA synergist in root initiation. The most faverable combinations for root development was half-strength MS medium supplemented with 162mg/l PG and 0.2mg/l IBA, and ratio of rooting was 58.0%. 4. In Vitro formed plantlets were transplanted to paper pots in greenhouse with 85% of relative humidity. 96% of survival rate was obtained from artificial soil mix having same volume of sand, vermiculite, peat, and soil.
