Connection of the chromosome and the extent of incidence of ergot fungus in durum wheat

The ergot fungus requiers a rather long time for the incubation period for a disease and fungus tends to obstract the formation of the seeds. In order to do an experiment inoculated, a spore of ergot fungi into the florets was done 2-3 days before flowering. As a result, each trisomic types recognized the infection rate to be 90% to 100% so the trisomies of complete immunity was non existent in durum wheat, Triticum durum var. hordeiforme. However, the growth rate of large sclerotium than seeds differed mutually with each trisomic types. This tend to be sensitivity on the trisomies which has been the extra chromosomes of 2A, 4A and 7B in comparison with normal plant but the trisomies related to Tri-6A line was not forming the sclerotium of large size than seeds and grew outside the florets. Consequently, the resisitant gene against ergot fungi was considered to be existing on the chromosome 6A. The ergot fungi requires a long time for the incubation period until it is taken away from infection. The essential effect of resistant gene did not surmise on the chromosome 6A that gene concerned with the physiological effect to restrain the growing up of a ergot fungi in the growing process of plants.
Studies on Inhibiting Floral Induction of Angelica gigas NAKAI in the Hilly Altitude Area

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of floral inhibition of Angelica gigas NAKAI in the hilly altitude located in the Northern Gyeongbuk Province from Feb. 1992 to 1994. The results obtained were as follows: As the cultivated areas are high, rate of bolting was significantly decreased, having high yield, good growth, and medicinal quality. It is considered that the optimal cultivating area was at least above 600m altitude. In the hilly altitude, the more shorten nursery period was, the more decreased rate of bolting was, it results in decreased yield, having no significant differences in contents such as extract and decursin. In bolting response from temperature treatment of the seedlings, treatment of temperature was significantly decreased floral induction, but rate of establishment was decreased by decayed root. Bolting rate at different organic resources has more reduced in single fertilization than that of in organic application, but among organic resources, compost of rice straw has the lowest bolting rate. As a result, yield and medicinal qualities at various organic resources were increased in application of organic resources which was no considerable tendency among organic resources.

According to the resulting, following genus and species are newly to Korea : genus of Strobilurus and species of Strobilurus oshimae, Mycena chlorophos, Marasmius pulcherripos, Pholiota astragalina, cortinarous subedibutrs and Boletellus schinchanius.
A Study on Utilization of Medicinal Herb as Vegetable by Hydroponics 2. Experiment on Year-Round Production of Medicinal Herb

Effect of Mulching Materials of Growth and Tuber yield in Fritllariae bulbus.

This expreiment was carried out to investigate the effect of mulching matreial on the yield and yield characters in the cultivation of Fritillaiae. Bulbus. Soil temperature was in mulching treatments than non-mulching, and water contentment of soil was higher in mulching. with compost rice straw and black P.E(Poly Ethylene). but was in mulching with black and white P.E than non-mulching. Emergence data had no differences among mulching treatments, and plant height was longer about 4 to 7cm in mulching with compost and 30% shade net than non-mulching but was shortest as 41cm in mulching with black and white P.E. Comparing lear numbers with numbers with mulching treatments. mulchings with 30% shade net was smaller. and black and white P.E. black P.E. and green P.E were larger than that of non-mulching. Total yield was increased about 8 to 11% in mulching with compost. black P.E. and green P.E and yield of thing quality was more increased about 51 to 64% in mulching with compost. black P.E. and green P.E. thand non-mulching.
Variation of Sex Ratio and Its Relationship with some Major Characteristics Collection of Hemp

A Study on Botanical Resources in Sejong-Jirhiji

Sejong-Jirhiji, completed in 1454, has records on Anthropologic and NaturalGeography, Economy, Military affairs and Indusry, especially in the side of Industry, resources plant is included. It has much more species, which are almost wild and only a few cultivated, tham in the Moden book of Geography. The total species of resources plant recorded in 8 provinces are 1277, but by the system of classifcation they are 104 families and 267 species. It is almost same record as in Hyang- Yak Chip Seong Bang published in 1433, in which the total species are 103 families, 281 species. We can see the voluntary will to avoid chinese chemical, expensive and difficult to get, and to exploit our own in this book. Among these, Cullen coryliforia included in Leguminosae, Styrax benzoin included in Styraceae and Ocimum sanctum included in Labiatae are plants of trophic or subtropic. We don't know through which passage do they come. The different names on a same species give a difficult problem in understanding the traditional book. Today resources plant's spread recorded in Sejong-Jirhiji gives a referential help, and Korean botany is based on it.
