A Torque Ripple Reduction of Miniature BLDC using Instantaneous Voltage Control

This paper proposes the instantaneous source voltage and phase current control for torque ripple reduction of a high speed miniature BLDC motor. As compared with general BLDC motor, a high speed miniature BLDC motor has a fast electrical time-constant. So the current and torque ripple are very serious in a conventional PWM switching during conduction period. In order to reduce the switching current ripple, instantaneously controlled source voltage is supplied to the inverter system according to the motor speed and load torque. In addition, the fast hysteresis current controller can keep the phase current In the limited band. The proposed method is verified by the computer simulation and experimental results.
A Study on the Operating Characters of the Piezoelectric Inverter to Drive EEFL for a Large Screen

In this paper, EEFL, which is advantageous for driving multi-lamp and is able to reduce number of inverter, is used and Piezoelectric Transformer, which is able to reduce self loss, miniaturize and has high boosting transfer rate, and parallel connected to drive multi-lamp. For optimized EEFL driver circuit configuration, a Push-Pull type Piezoelectric inverter was designed and a simulation analysis was performed on the inverter circuit, and by applying multiple different type of driving methode, it is proved that a piezoelectric transformer can be used to manufacture a big screen multi-lamp driving inverter.
Direct Instantaneous Torque Control of SRM using 4-level Converter

This paper presents a direct instantaneous torque control (DITC) of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) with a novel 4-level converter to develop a uniform torque and to improve a dynamic performance. The DITC method can reduce a high torque ripple of SRM. Drive efficiency and dynamic performance with conventional drive are low due to a slow excitation current build-up. Since the 4-level converter can obtain an addition boosted voltage to have a fast excitation and demagnetization, it can Improve dynamic performance and efficiency easily. To apply the DITC technique to a 4-level converter, a novel control scheme is presented according to the operating modes. Additionally, selection of capacitances of boosted capacitor and efficiency improvement of 4-level converter are analyzed. At last, the validity of proposed method is verified by some computer simulations md comparative experiments.
Performance Improvement Using Modeling and Simulation of a Homo-polar Generator

As the equipments with the fast load characteristics become popular, a onboard generator should satisfy the fast response characteristics. This paper describes the modeling, simulation and experiment of the homo-polar generator developed for the fast load. The simulation model of a homo-polar generator with input limiter is developed, and the optimal gain to improve the response characteristics can be determined by simulation and analysis. The improved bandwidth and stability of the developed generator with optimal gain are verified by simulation and experiment.
An Implementation of The Position Pattern Generating Algorithm with Minimal Locomotion Time for Single-Axis Linear Machine Drive System

In this paper, a simple but effective position profile generation algorithm for single axis high dynamic linear machine drive system is presented. In the recent industrial application fields like as LCD/PDP and semiconductor factory, requirements for the high performance positioning system with optimal position profile generator are highly increased to reduce the overall processing time. There might be various solutions for position profile generating algorithm according to the application type. A square-wave Impact quantity(Jerk) based algorithm with minimal locomotion time is argued in this paper to minimize the total time of one movement under some specific constrains such as maximum speed limit and maximum acceleration limit. In order to reduce the calculation efforts and satisfy the minimal locomotion time condition, the time variants representing each profile sector and a simple condition comparison algorithm are adopted. Also, the actual implementation method for profile generation algorithm and it's real performance results are presented through commercial linear machine drive system.
Performance of Multi-level Inverter for High-Speed SR Drive

In this paper, a novel multi-level inverter for low cost high speed switched reluctance(SR) drive is proposed. The proposed multi-level converter has reduced number of power switches and diodes than that of a conventional asymmetric converter for SRM and smaller voltage rating of the dump capacitor comparing with energy efficient c-dump converter. It can supply five operating modes that is boosted, DC-link, zero, negative bias and negative boosted voltage. The proposed multi-level converter has fast excitation and demagnetization modes of phase current, so dynamic response can be achieved. The proposed multi-level converter is verified by computer simulation and experimental results.
A Study on the Leading Edge Modulation Buck converter Operating in Discontinuous Conduction Mode

This paper presents a new Leading edge modulation Buck converter operating in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) for the pulse voltage input. In the slave output of the LLC half-bridge multi-resonant converter, to regulate the direct chopper's output voltage, its PWM switch is controlled by the leading edge modulation. The principles of this proposed LEM control method and the fast dynamics in inductor current based on the converter impulse response are studied. The theoretical results are verified through an experimental prototype of the 100W 60inch PDP Address power module.
Design of Control System for Myoelectric Signal Driving Type Myoelectric Hand Prosthesis

This paper presents the control system for driving myoelectric hand prosthesis according to myoelectric signal generated in the human muscle. A surface myoelectric sensor for measuring myoelectric signal is designed a skin interface and a processing circuit according to myoelectric signal output property. The control system consists of two controller for driving dual motor, torque sensor for measuring out torque of motor, slip sensor for detecting slip of torque. The experimental results proved the proposed control system.

When the magnetic levitation system(MAGLEV) initially rise, The MAGLEV has a weak point that is very large variation of the electric current. In this paper, The author applied the multi-loop-control to stably control the magnetic levitation system(MAGLEV). The gains of the control algorithm were selected based on pole locations formulated from a prototype Bessel transfer function model. The design incorporate tradeoffs in DC-to-DC converter hard-ware para-meters and pole locations. In order to confirm the superiority of the proposed pole selection md controller, MATLAB simulation and experiment results are presented.
PWM Inverter System Control for Flywheel Energy Storage System using PDFF(Pseudo-Derivative Control with Feedforward Gain) Algorithm

This paper presents about energy input and output modeling for a flywheel energy storage system that can store and supply mechanical energy, which is emerging as one of clean energy sources, and the analysis and control of a PWM inverter system. Moreover, this paper describes flywheel's characteristics related to variations of mechanical and electrical parameters like as voltage and current versus speed characteristics formed as numerical formula and thus simulate behaviour-status of flywheel energy. Also for comparison and analysis between PI control and PDFF control, the modeling, design and analysis to the single-phase full bridge inverter with double loop feedback control is accomplished through numerical description and simulation. Finally, under load condition 0.1[pu], 1[pu]. it is validated that harmonic characteristics for voltage and current wave is controlled within 5% below even dynamics condition.
