The Transactions of the Korean Institute of Power Electronics, volume 4, issue 4, 1999, Pages 311~317
In this paper, the resonant inverter of SEPP-LCC type is proposed and described the operating principle. As adding t two capacitors in the switching devices in parallel. the proposed inverter can reduce switching losses. noise and voltage s stress at Turn-on and Turn-off. The analysis of the proposed circuit are described by using the normalized parameters. The data of design are got by the characteristic values and an example of the design's method is proposed. In addition. t the justification of theoretical analysis is verified by comparing to the experimental waveforms.
Improvement of Control Characteristics of Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor by Finite Element Analysis
The Transactions of the Korean Institute of Power Electronics, volume 4, issue 4, 1999, Pages 318~324
In this paper. a control method based on finite element analysis is presented to improve the control characteristics of t the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM). In the control method. additional compensation current is a added to the conventional control current according to the position of mover. The characteristics of thrust ripple a according to the position of mover and the current are analyzed by using finite element method (FEM). And. the value of current to compensate the thrust ripple due to the cog밍ng force is calculated from the analysis results. The c characteristics according to control method are compared in case of speed control. and to conform the validity of the p presented method, a test set is built and experiments are performed.
Utility Interactive Photovoltaic Generation System Using Discontinuous Mode Buck-Boost Chopper
The Transactions of the Korean Institute of Power Electronics, volume 4, issue 4, 1999, Pages 325~331
In a utility interactive photovoltaic generation system. a PWM inverter is used for the connection between the p photovoltaic arrays and the utility. The dc current becomes pulsated when the conventional inverter system operates i in the continuous current mode and de current pulsation causes the distortion of the accurrent waveform. This paper p presents the reduced pulsation of de input current by operating the inverter with buck-boost chopper in the d discontinuous conduction mode. The dc current which contains harmonic component is analyzed by means of s separating into two terms of a ripple component and a direct component. The constant dc current without p pulsation is supplied from photovoltaic array to the inverter. The proposed inverter system provides a sinusoidal ac c current for domestic loads and the utility line with unity power factor.

Low-cost Single-Phase Half-bridge Active Power Filter with One Current Sensor
The Transactions of the Korean Institute of Power Electronics, volume 4, issue 4, 1999, Pages 342~348
This paper describes a low-cost single-phase active power filter, which consists of a half-bridge P\A미1 inverter with a s simple control circuit. In order to verify the performance of proposed active power filter, many computer simulations w with EMTP codes and experimental works with a hardware prototype were done. Both results confirm that the p proposed active power filter shows excellent performance to eliminate the harmonics generated in the single-phase non l linear‘ load. The active power filter has advantage of low implementation cost and compact size. using a half-bridge i inverter and a simple control circuit with only one current sensor. So. it can be fabricated as a plug-in type.
Instantaneous Voltage Control Scheme of Auxiliary Power Supply System for Electric Railway Vehicles
The Transactions of the Korean Institute of Power Electronics, volume 4, issue 4, 1999, Pages 349~356
This paper presents an instantaneous voltage control scheme of au킹liary power supply system for the electric railway v vehicles, The resonance problem of the LC filter and the existing steady state error are more serious as the use of l instantaneous voltage control techniques for the fast transient response at the nonlinear load, A filter capacitor current f feedback loop is considered to increase the damping ratio of the voltage transfer function for the suppression of the resonance problem of the LC inverter output filter. To eliminate the steady state en‘or existing in case of the AC l instantaneous voltage control. the high gain transfer function is added to the conventional PI controller. The theoretical a analysis is well described with the simulation results. The validity of the proposed schemes is well verified through the s simulation and expelimental results for the 5 kVA prototype.
A Traction System Control Method for 2 Motor Driven Electric Vehicle
The Transactions of the Korean Institute of Power Electronics, volume 4, issue 4, 1999, Pages 357~367
When traction system of 2-motor driven electric vehicle(EV) is consisted of two motors (IPMSM) . two inverters. and one traction controller, control performances of IPMSM for an electric vehicle is affected by parameter variation b because of large current magnitude and wide current phase angle. To solve this problem, new parameter estimator for L Ld and Lq is constructed by neu때 network technique. And new vector control algorithm with parameter estimator by n neural network is proposed for IPMSM.And also. an advanced traction control algorithm is proposed using fuzzy c controller in order to enhance the driveability oftwo-wheel drive EVs with fitted with a traction control system Performances of the proposed algorithm are examined by simulations and the experimental resul않 with respect to t the prototype IPMSM and EV.
A Study on the Characteristics of Thyristor Controlled Shunt Compensator
The Transactions of the Korean Institute of Power Electronics, volume 4, issue 4, 1999, Pages 368~376
This paper studies the operational characteristics of thyristor controlled shunt compensator in a simple power t transmission system. With Fourier series representation of the thyristor switching action and the system parameters, t the thyristor current equations are derived, which transmit the required real power of the simple power transmission s system. Bisection algorithm is used to solve the thyristor current equations, which informs the thyristor firing an밍e, t the thyristor conduction an밍e, the power flows and the harmonic characteristics. The stability analysis is performed w with the theory of Poincare mapping for the nonlinear discrete periodic dynamic system. EMTP simulations at the v various operating points show the transient characteristics of the thyristor controlled shunt compensator and C correspond to the results calculated with Fourier series representation and the stability analysis.

The Transactions of the Korean Institute of Power Electronics, volume 4, issue 4, 1999, Pages 377~383
A new soft switching single stage AC-DC full bridge boost converter with unit input power factor and isolated output i is presented in this paper. Due to the use of a non-dissipative snubber on the primary side, a single stage high-power f factor isolated full bridge boost converter has a significant reduction of switching losses in the main switching devices. The non-dissipative snubber adopted in this study consists of a snubber capacitor Cr, a snubber inductor Cr, a fast r recovery snubber diode Dr' and a commutation diode Dp. This paper presents the complete operating principles, t theoretical analysis and experimental results.
Soft-Switched PWM DC-DC High-Power Converter with Quasi Resonant-Poles and Parasitic Reactive Resonant Components of High-Voltage Transformer
The Transactions of the Korean Institute of Power Electronics, volume 4, issue 4, 1999, Pages 384~394
This paper deals with a fixed frequency full-bridge inverter type DC-DC high-power converter with high frequency high voltage(HFHV) transformer-coupled stage, which operates under quasi-resonant ZVS transition priciple in spite of a wide PWM-based voltage regulation processing and largely-changed load conditions. This multi-resonant(MR) converter topology is composed of a series capacitor-connected parallel resonant tank which makes the most of parasitic circuit reactive components of HFHV transformer and two additional quasi-resonant pole circuits incorporated into the bridge legs. The soft-switching operation and practical efficacy of this new converter circuit using the latest IGBTs are actually ascertained through 50kV trially-produced converter system operating using 20kHz/30kHz high voltage(HV) transformers which is applied for driving the diagnostic HV X-ray tube load in medical equipments. It is proved from a practical point of view that the switching losses of IGBTs and their electrical dynamic stresses relating to EMI noise can be considerably reduced under a high frequency(HF) switching-based phase-shift PWM control process for a load setting requirements.
