Control Methods of the Pulse-Width Modualted Series Resonant Converter(PWN-SRC)

In this paper, several control methods for the discontinuous mode PWlvl-SRC are investigated with the l linearized small signal model. Design of Electronic Ballast Reducing Acoustic Resonances Phenomina in Metal Halide Discharge Tube

Meta! Halide Discharge(]\1HD) Iamps have good color rendition, long life and good focusing capability but h have flickers bv acoustic resonances. We have designed the electronic ballast for reducing acoustic resonances in high pressure discharge tube. The ballast consists of main two parts, the first part is a half-bridge inverter to make a square wave form a and the st'Cond part is a flyback converter to combine the low frequency and high frequency component. As a r result of this study, we conclude that MHD lamps of 70 watt 따c very well light(D without acoustic resonance p phenomena by the elestronic ballast.
Design Considerations for Auto-Connected Multi-Pulse Rectiviers for High Power AC Motor Drives

Auto-connected multipulse(12/24pulse) rectifier schemes are cost effective methods for reducing line current hamonics in PWM drive systems. Employing these schemes to enhance utility power quality requires careful attention to several design considerations In particular, excursion of dc-link voltage at no load, effect of pre-existing voltage distortion, impedance mismatches, unequal diode drops on rectifier current sharing and performance, are fully analyzed, Several corrective measures to improve the performance of 12/24pulse rectifier systems are also discussed. Finally, experimental results on a 460V, 60Hz 400kVA commercial ASD, retrofitted with 12/24pulse rectifier systems are discussed in detail.
A New 12-Pulse Diode Rectifier System With Low kVA Components For Clean Power Utility Interface

This paper proposes a 12pulse diode rectifier system with low kVA components suitable for powering switch mode power supplies or ac/dc converter applications. The proposed 12-pulse system employs a polyphase transformer, a zero sequence blocking transformer (ZSBT) in the dc link, and an interphase transformer. Results produce near equal leakage inductance in series with each diode rectifier bridge ensuring equal current sharing and performance improvements, The utility input currents and the voltage across the ZSBT are analyzed the kVA rating of each component in the proposed system is computed. The 5th , 7th , 17th and 19th harmonics are eliminated in the input line currents resulting in clean input power. The dc link voltage magnitude generated by the proposed rectifier system is nearly identical to a conventional to a conventional 6-pulse system. The proposed system is suitable to retrofit applications as well as in new PWM drive systems. Simulation and experimental results from a 208V , 10kVA system are shown.
Development of a Flywheel Energy Storage System using Superconducting Magnetic Bearing

This paper presents a S-FES(Superconducting magnetic becuing Flywheel Energy Storage System) for the p purpose of replacing battery used to store the energy. Especially, the design elements of FES, such as the b beming, wheel mateηaI, and power converter, etc., are described. The design and manufacturing techniques of t the controllable IXlwer converter are proposed to generate the sinusoidal output current in the high speed operation and to get the const빠synchronous motor with halbach cuTay of high coesive I\d-Fe-B permanent magnet is used as the driver of F FES. The proposed S-FES system shows the stable rotation characteristics at high speed range about l 10,000[rpm]. To verify the validity of proposed system, the comparative study with the conventional ball b beming s~rstem is proceeded and it is well confirmed with the result of the lower friction losses of S-FES S system.
Systematization Design Technique for Linear Actutor by using similarity theory

We introduce the systematization design method using similarity theory which is profitable in the c compatability and standardization of the developed products and the reduction of construction time and price to d develop and design a machine equipment. Systematization design method is to select the standard model for d designing and developing from the large machinery to the super precision one and then to induce the c characteristic of machines step by step in advance in case of miniaturizing and making largelongleftarrowscale. With this m method, we extract the peculiar characteristics through the close analysis on the physical and ttx:hnical part a and predict the characteristic experiment for the magnitude we desire by an머ogical mathematical analysis. At l last, we will get the design sample the users demand with the verification of the data on optimum design p previously. In this paper, we could predict the characteristic of the product the users rC'Quire in advance with the d design method applying similarity theor
and suggested the design method which could meet the various r requirements the users want. Also, it is shown that the standardization design by the similarity theory is a available as comparing the characteristic values expc'Cted through the experiment of the actual actuator with t the theoretical character data of similarity theoη after selecting the linear actuator as a model.
Automotive HID ballast using auxiliary winding

A new scheme of the automotive High Intensity Discharge (HlD) lamp ballast systems is proposed. The p proposed scheme consists of the high frequency IX DC converter and the low frequency DC-AC inverter, like t that the conventional HID ballast system. However, this system separates the input voltage of the ignitor from t the dc link voltage, which results in the use of lower voltage rating power devices for the HID lamp ballast s system, comparlu with convention띠 system. Analysis and Compensation of Current Measurement Error in Digitally Controlled AC Drives

This paper addresses the current measurement issue of all digital field oriented control of ac motors. The p paper focuses on the effect of low-pass filter and also on the sampling of the fundamental component of the m motor current. The low-pass filter, which suppresses the switching noise of the motor current, introduces v variable phase delay according to the current ripple frequency. It is shown that the current sampling error c consists of the fundamental component and high frL'quency ripple components. In this paper, the dependency of t this current sampling e
or on the reference voltage vector is investigated analytically and a sampling technique i is proposed to minimize the error. The work is based on the three phase symmetry pulse width modulation l inverter driving an induction machine. With this technique, the bandwidth of current regulator can be extended t to the limit given by the switching frequency of the inverter and more precise torque regulation is possible.
Transient Torque Maximizing Strantegy of Induction Machine in Field Weakening Region

In this paper, a new field weakening algorithm which maximizes the output torque not only in steady state b but also in transient state is proposed. Considering both voltage and current limit of system, analytic solutions f for optimal torque utilization in field weakening region I and region II are obtained. This algorithm finds optimal currents considering dynamic vol떠ge limit based on flux and speed. So the maximum usage of stator v voltage even in transient state results in the maximum torque and fast response time. Simulation and e experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed field weakening scheme.
Cost-effective Design of an Inverter Output Reactor in ASD application

In this paper, the cost-effective design of output reactor which is USCD to suppress the over-voltage at the m motor terminal in the Adjustable Speed Drives(ASD) application is proposed. In the elevator drive svstem. the R IXlwer cable length is relatively shorter than other ASD applications and then the over voltage at the motor terminal depends on the frequency characteristics of the output reactor at the over voltage operating frequency. The over-voltage suppression mechanism of output reactor in ASD application is analyzed and the dominant parameters of output reactor for the over-voltage supression are extracted. Using these as the design values and considering the high frequency characteristics of iron core in the reactor. a new c cost-effective structure of output reactor is proposed. Experimental results of the conventional reactor and the p proposed reactor with a l5kW induction motor are given to verify the propoSLD scheme.
