A Study on Analysis of the Hydrogen-Oxygen Gas Generator Using Pulse Power Supply

The mixed gas of Hydrogen and Oxygen is gained from water electrolysis reaction. It has constant volume ratio 2 : 1 Hydrogen and Oxygen, and it is used as a source of thermal energy by combustion reaction. This gas has better characteristics in the field of economy, efficiency of energy, and environmental intimacy than acetylene gas and LPG used for gas welding machine. So several studies of this gas are actively in progress nowadays. The object of this study is the optimization of power condition in the side of electricity for the Hydrogen-Oxygen gas generator, Firstly chemical analysis of electrolysis is conducted, and the relation of electrical energy and chemical energy is quantitatively investigated through Faraday's laws of electrolysis. After that, pulse power supply is designed for basic experiment which could be applied to the analysis of Hydrogen-Oxygen gas generator. In the basis of above steps, comparison and analysis of Hydrogen-Oxygen gas generator was conducted as variable frequency using pulse Power supply.
A Study on Series Active Power Filter Compensating Unbalanced Source Voltage in 3phase-3wire system

A series active power filter compensating current harmonics and unbalanced source voltages in a 3phase-3wire power system is presented. The system is composed of series active power filter and shunt passive filters that are tuned at 5th and 7th harmonics. The proposed series active power filter improves harmonic compensation characteristics of the shunt passive filters, reduces source side harmonic currents and compensates the unbalanced source voltages. In the proposed algorithm, compensation voltage for harmonic reduction is calculated by a performance function, and compensation voltage for the unbalanced source voltage is calculated based on the synchronous reference frame. Some results obtained from the experimental model using the proposed method are Presented to demonstrate and confirm its validity.
The development of power supply for dry scrubber

In this Paper, the development of the power supply for dry scrubber is discussed. 1500w, 100kHz power supply Is designed and tested. The main power stage is used for the FB PWM inverter with an LC filter in the secondary circuit. The operation characteristics of power supply are verified by simulation and experimental results.
An analysis of a phase- shifted parallel-input/series-output dual converter for high-power step-up applications

A new phase-shifted parallel-input/series-output(PISO) dual converter for tush-power step-up applications has been proposed. Since the proposed converter shows a low switch turn-off voltage stress, switching devices with low conduction loss can be employed in order to improve the power conversion efficiency. Moreover, it features a low output capacitor root-mean-square(RMS) current stress, low input current and output voltage ripple contents, and fast control-to-output dynamics compared to its PWM counterpart. In this paper, the operation of the proposed converter is analyzed in detail and its mathematical models and steady-state solutions are presented. A comparative analysis with the conventional PWM PISO dual converter is also provided. To confirm the operation, features, and validity of the Proposed converter, experimental results from an 800W, 24-350Vdc prototype are presented.
A Study on the Power Factor Improvement of DC Power Regenerating Systems

This paper proposes a new control scheme for the power factor improvement of DC power regenerating systems, which can regenerate the excessive DC power from DC bus line to AC supply in substations for traction systems. From the viewpoint of both power capacity and switching losses, the system is designed on the basis of three-phase square-wave inverters and composed of two inverters, zig-zag connected output transformers, and an AC filter. The output voltages of the regenerating system are not sinusoidal. However, regenerated complex power is analyzed on the basis of fundamental components and thus the reactive power produced by harmonics is not considered. Therefore, it is needed a new control scheme capable of controlling the reactive power nearly to zero even for nonsinusoidal cases. To verify the validity of the proposed control scheme, computer simulations are carried out. And the results show that the power factor is theoretically higher than 0.99.
A New Current Control Algorithm for Torque Ripple Reduction of BLDC Motors

The BLDC(Brushless DC) Motor is characterized by linear torque to current and speed to voltage. It has low acoustic noise and fast dynamic response. Moreover, it has high power density with high proportion of torque to inertia in spite of small size drive. However, when armature current is commutated, the current ripple is generated by the motor inductance components in stator windings and back-EMF. This current ripple caused to torque ripple. Therefore, it is difficult to apply the BLDC motor to a precision servo drive system. In this paper, a new current control algorithm using fourier series coefficients is proposed. This proposed algorithm can minimize torque ripple due to the phase current commutation of BLDC motor. Simulation and Experimental results prove the effectiveness at the Proposed algorithm through comparison with the conventional unipolar PWM method.
A new active common mode voltage Damper to suppress high frequency leakage current of PWM Inverter

This paper proposes a new active common-mode voltage damper circuit that is capable of suppressing a common-mode voltage produced in the PWM VSI-fed induction motor drives. The new active common mode voltage damper is consists of a four-level half-bridge Inverter and a common mode transformer with a blocking capacitor. In order to reduce the common mode voltage and high frequency leakage current the active common mode damper applies to the PWM inverter system the compensated voltage of which the amplitude is the same as the common mode voltage and of which the polarity is opposite to the common mode voltage. Simulated using P-SPICE and experimental results show that common-mode voltage damper makes contributions to reducing a high frequency leakage current and common-mode voltage.
Development of 4MW Class High Voltage Inverter System

This paper describes a new developed 3.3KV/4MW class three-level Voltage Source Inverter(VSI), which is equipped with IIMS(Inverter Information Management System) based on the world wide web and with the Virtual operation simulator. The algorithm for motor control is the stator oriented Direct Torque Control(DTC), which works without speed sensor and gives the physically fastest dynamic response. The IIMS have the functions of operation monitoring and data managements. Virtual operation simulator can analyze and tune the system characteristics without main power. Now, this system is under the field test to verify the confidence.
Electronic Ballast for Metal Halide Lamps Using High Frequency Modulation Method

This paper presents a high frequency modulation electronic ballast for the metal halide lamp. As the proposed ballast operates in high frequency ranges and can start up the lamp using the LC resonant circuit without external igniter, the proposed ballast is very compact and has a good efficiency in comparison with the conventional low frequency electronic ballast. The proposed ballast is controlled with the modulated frequency in the range of 20kHz to 100kHz in order to avoid the acoustic resonance phenomenon. In this paper, a new realtime acoustic resonance detection method is proposed to evaluate the characteristics of the ballast. The no load protection algorithm and power control algorithm through the detection of the DC link current are described. Finally, the experimental results on the proto-type ballast of 150w metal halide lamp with the proposed methods are discussed.
Design of Speed Controller for Induction Motor With Inertia Variation

In this paper, a novel design method of variable motor inertia in Induction motor drive system is proposed. The inertia of a load and a motor are estimated by using RLS (Recursive Least Square) algorithm. The speed controller is designed by Kharitonov theory of motor. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified with simulation and experiment results.
Loss Analyses of Soft Switching Techniques for Two-transistor Forward Converter

In this paper, the loss analyses of two soft switching techniques for two-transistor forward converter are performed. The sums of snubber conduction and capacitive turn-on losses for two transistors are calculated to compare the losses of the two techniques. While the conventional soft switching technique shows the loss difference between two transistors, the proposed soft switching technique shows equal as well as lower losses In two transistors. Thus, it can be said that even thermal distribution and higher reliability can be obtained by the proposed soft switching technique.
A Study on the Characteristics of Ozonizers and Implementation of a Monitoring System

The oxidizing power of ozone is the greatest of all commercially available oxidizers and thus ozone is taking the place of chlorine for water treatment. For energy-effective treatment of water, ozone should be generated in high concentration. A silent glow discharge ozonizer is high effective in industrial aspect and thus is the most widely used. We found that the key parameters associated with the ozone generation rate are the driving voltage of the discharger, the discharge rate and the temperature of the ozone generation tube. For an easy control of these parameters, we build a monitoring system with graphical user interface. This system is based on Windows-98 PC, programmed with C++ and LabView.
