Speed Sensorless Stator Flux-Oriented Control of Induction Motor In the Field Weakening Region Using Luenberger Observer

In a conventional speed sensorless stator flux-oriented (SFO) induction motor drive, when the estimated speed is transformed into the sample-data model using the first-forward difference approximation, the sampled data model has a modeling error which, in turn, produces an error in the rotor speed estimation. The error is removed by the use of a low pass filter (LPF). As a result, the delay of the estimated speed occurs in transients by the use of the LPF. This paper proposes a method to estimate exactly the speed by using Luenberger observer to solve the problem of a conventional method.
A Study on the Intelligent Electronic Device for Non-Linear Loads

In this paper, the IED(Intelligent Electronic Devices) with the consideration of harmonic problems is discussed, With significant development of power electronics technology, the proliferation of a nonlinear load has more deteriorated power quality, As continuous harmonic current makes for a shortening lifetime, overheat and abnormal operation, it should be considered to improve these problems. However, the conventional digital protective relay which eliminates harmonic elements with orthogonal filter has a defect on actually implementation. The prototype IED is constructed with Digital Signal Processor(TMS320C32) and Complex Programmable Logic Device. According to the experiment and simulation results, it is proved that the proposed system has good performance of measuring harmonic factors and protecting electrical equipment.
AC/DC Converter Suitable for a Pulsed Mode Switching DC Power Supply

This paper describes a novel ac/dc power converter suitable for frequent output short-circuit faults. The output dc power of the proposed converter can be disconnected from the load within several hundred microseconds at the instant of short-circuit fault. The rising time of the dc load voltage is as small as several hundred microseconds, and there Is no overshoot of the dc voltage because the dc output fillet capacitors stay at a undischarged state. The proposed converter has the characteristics of a simplified structure, reduced cost, weight, and volume compared to the conventional power supplies for frequent output short-circuit. Analysis, simulations, and experiments are carried out to investigate the operation and usefulness of the proposed scheme.
Servo Gun-type Inverter Spot Welding System

Resistance spot welding is widely employed in a manufacturing process. In recent years, the requirement for more sophisticated quality control procedures has been in mass production industries. The requirements for high productivity and better weld qualities have lead to the development of more widely available microcomputer-based control. In this study, the inverter type power source and welding servo gun are developed. As the results, we have some advantages over the previous methods such as pneumatic gun. One of them is that the precise pressure control can be attained during the welding process. In addition, production time and cost can be decreased.
Characteristics of the ㄷ ㅓ Type Core for Contactless Battery Charger

Detachable transformers used in contactless battery chargers have poor power transfer characteristics because they have low coupling coefficients due to their gaps. The ㄷㅓ type core gives a high coupling coefficient in a contactless battery charger compared with standard cores such as EE, EC and UU. In this paper, characteristics of the ㄷㅓ type core is studied. Detailed analyses and comparisons are given based on the sinusoidal operation and square-wave operation. Reductions in output current, voltage and power are stated analytically and numerically. The analyses are verified by experiments conducted on a ZVS converter including a detachable transformer. The analyses and comparison method can be applied to other gaped transformer such as a PCB transformer.
High Speed and Robust Control System with Deadbeat Disturbance Observer for 3D Eye Imaging Equipment

To show a retina shape and thickness on the computer monitor, a laser has been used in Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope(SLO) equipment using the traveling difference. This method requires exact synchronous control of laser traveling in optic system to show a clear 3-dimensional image of retina To obtain this image, this exact synchronism is very important for making the perfect plane scanning. In this study, a high speed and synchronous control of the galvanometer to make 3-dimensional retina image is presented. For the more, deadbeat load torque observer is added to the PI controller for compensation of the position error arisen in the high speed control. As a result, the proposed control system has a robust and precise response against the load torque variation appeared in high speed control. A stability and usefulness are verified by the computer simulation and the experiment.
Inductance Reasoning Method for Sensorless Control of an SRM

This paper describes a new method of detecting rotor position in switched reluctance motor(SRM), Some strategies of position sensorless control methods for the motor include the measurement of phase current and applied pulse voltage in an unexcited phase. The principle of the estimation of a rotor position is based on the detection of inductance by pulse currents. This sensorless method is very simple to compute rotor position estimation and gives efficient control of drive system. Suggested method is verified by some experimental tests.
The Reference Wave Generator for Dynamic Voltage Restorers by use of PQR Instantaneous Power Theory

Dynamic Voltage Restorers (DVR)s are known as the best effective and economic means to compensate for voltage sags and swells. This paper proposes a novel method to generate reference voltages synchronized with the grid whether the line voltages are distorted by a fault or not. The proposed reference wave generator (RWG) looks for the original wave forms from the corrupted line voltages and synthesizes the expected positive sequence reference waves for DVRs. There is no transient problem on the generated reference waves when the line voltages are distorted by the fault.
Determining the Compensation Voltages for Dynamic Voltage Restorers by use of PQR Instantaneous Power Theory

This paper discusses how to generate the reference compensation voltages in Dynamic Voltage Restorers (DVR) by use of PQR instantaneous power theory. Sensed three-phase terminal voltages are transformed to PQR coordinates without time delay. Since the reference voltage in PQR coordinates is a single dc value, the voltage controller for DVRs is simple and easy to design. Proposed control method can be implemented by feedforward controllers or by feedback controllers. This paper verified the theory by a feedforward controller of a DVR with simulation and experiment.
Drive Characteristics of Single Phase SRM for Fan Application

This paper proposes a new driving scheme for single-phase SRM. The driving scheme is very simple and inexpensive. By use of this scheme, simple power devices based on low switching losses enable to high efficiency SRM drive. Starting, One of the main problem in single-phase SRM is overcame by a new starting algorithm with one hall sensor and a parting magnet. The proposed single phase SRM has a high efficiency and robust drive characteristics compared to that of a universal motor.
Conducted Noise Reduction in PFC Boost Converter for Air Conditioner

Switching PFC converters are widely used not only to comply the power quality specification but also for maximum efficiency. However switching PFC converters generate serious electromagnetic interference(EMI). In this paper to solve this problem, we applied the APW(Anti-Phase Winding) and RPWM(Random PWM) technique to PFC boost converter and obtained good results. Simulation and experimental results show the improved harmonics and reduced EMI effect in air-conditioner system.
Series Compensated AC Voltage Regulator using AC chopper with Auxiliary Transformer

This paper describes an AC voltage regulator using AC chopper and auxiliary transformer which is series connected with main input. It has many advantages such as fast voltage control, high efficiency and low THD. A detail study of step down AC voltage regulator is described and two kinds of novel step-up/down voltage regulator for AVR application are proposed. The operation principle and PWM method of the proposed regulator are described. Experimental results show that it can be used as AC voltage regulator for special purpose very efficiently.
