A Current Control Strategy for Torque Ripple Reduction on Brushless DC Motor during Commutation

This paper presents a current control strategy to reduce torque ripple of Brushless DC Motor during con)mutation. The torque ripple is mainly caused by the inequality in the rate of change between rising current and decaying one during commutation. And also it is influenced by the shape of real back EMF Therefore, in the proposed control strategy, considering real back EMF a compensation voltage is generated to equalize the rate of change in these commutating currents. And then, by providing the compensation voltage during commutation, the torque ripple can be reduced. The simulation md experimental results verify that the proposed method can reduce the torque and the current ripples significantly.
Performance Test for the Performance Reliability of the Heat Pipe for Cooling Power Semiconductors

The heat pipe for cooling power semiconductor is required no performance changing during the life cycle up to 20 years. For the long reliable performance of the heat pipe, my reasons that has possibility to generate non condensable gases we not allowed. In this research, the maximum heat transport rate and operation characteristics that are related to various geometric and thermal conditions are carried out. Also the test items, specifications and methods to guarantee the long life cycle of the heat pipe for power semiconductor cooling device are provided and the tests are performed.
Three-phase Four-wire Series Active Power Filter Control Strategy for The Compensation of Harmonics and Reactive Power Based-on Direct Compensating Voltage Extraction Method

In recent years, since more and more diode rectifiers with smoothing dc capacitor are used in electronic equipments, household appliances and ac drives, harmonics generated by these loads have become a major issue. In addition, 3-phase 4-wire system is widely employed in distributing electric energy to several office building and manufacturing plants. This systems show excessive currents in the neutral. These neutral currents are fundamentally third harmonic, and their presence is tied to wiring failure, elevating of neutral potentials, transformer overheating, etc. In response to the concerns, this paper proposes a series active power filter scheme based on direct compensating voltage extraction method and the advantage of this control algorithm is direct extraction of compensation voltage reference without multiplying gain. Therefore, the calculation of the compensation voltage reference will becom much simpler than other control algorithm. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, a prototype active power filter is built and some experiments are carried out.
A Study on PWM Converter/Inverter Drive System by a Fuel Cell Simulator

In this paper, a 3㎾ fuel cell generation system with an active fuel cell simulator has been proposed. The developed fuel cell simulator generates the actual voltage and current output characteristics of the Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC), so that the overall performance and the dynamics of the proposed system could be effectively examined and tested. In This paper, at first, the system configuration and operational principle of the developed fuel cell simulator has been investigated and the design process of the fuel cell generation system is explained in detail. In addition, the validity of the proposed system has been verified lly the informative simulation and experimental result
Improvement of Low Speed Operation of Electric Machine Using ROELO for Inertia Identification

A new scheme to estimate the moment of inertia in the motor drive system in very low speed is proposed in this paper. The simple estimation scheme, which is usually used in most servo system for low speed operation, is sensitive to the variation of the machine parameter, especially the moment of inertia. To estimate the motor inertia value, Reduced-Order Extended Luenberger Observer (ROELO) is applied. The effectiveness of the proposed inertia identification method using the RORLO is verified by simulation and experiment.
Maximum Torque Operation of SRM by using a Self-tuning Control Method

This paper presents a Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) drive using the self-tuning control method to achieve the maximum torque. SRM has the difficulty to research it by an analytic method and to control the speed End torque because of the high nonlinearity. So, in this paper, the self-tuning control method is applied to relevantly controlling turn-on/off angle to operate at the maximum torque. Also, the feedback signals to control the turn-on/off angle are the encoder pulse and the increment of phase current. At first, n adequate turn-off angle is searched by itself and then a turn-on angle is done. As the relationship between turn-on and him-off angle is mutual dependent, the turn-on/off angle is controlled by a real time self-tuning control method in order to maintain the maximum torque. The proposed self-tuning Algorithm is verified by experiments.
A Position Sensorless Control System of SRM using Neural Network

This paper presents a position sensorless control system of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) using neural network. The control of SRM depends on the commutation of the stator phases in synchronism with the rotor position. The position sensing requirement increases the overall cost and complexity. In this paper, the current-flux-rotor position lookup table based position sensorless operation of SRM is presented. Neural network is used to construct the current-flux-rotor position lookup table, and is trained by sufficient experimental data. Experimental results for a 1-hp SRM is presented for the verification of the proposed sensorless algorithm.
A Study on the Speed Control of BLDC Motor Using the Feedforward Compensation

This paper presents a speed controller method based on the disturbance torque observer for high-performance speed control of the brushless DC (RLDC) motor. In case of the speed control of robot arms and tracking applications with lower stiffness, we cannot design the speed controller gain to be very large from the viewpoint of the system stability Thus, the feedforward compensation method using disturbance torque observer was proposed. This method can improve the speed characteristic without increasing the speed controller gain. The speed characteristic against disturbance torque can be improved when the bandwidth of the speed controller cannot be made large enough. Consequently, the speed control of the BLDC motor for the high-performance application become achieved.
Modeling and Design Algorithm of Conducted EMI Filter Using a Noise Separation Method

Because the EMI filter is mainly designed by trial and error method, it takes many times to reduce the conducted EMI noise in a power converter. Thus, a newly analytical design procedure is proposed to overcome the problem in this paper. High frequency models of each component are built, md, using the modeling circuits, the filter design is carried out applicable to each mode. Based on the accumulated database for practical components, and the measurement data of EUT with a standard filter, the filler design algorithm is presented. Finally, the validity of the Proposed models and design method is verified through the measurement results.
On-Line Feed-Forward Dead-Time Compensation Method

In this paper, a new on-line dead-time compensation method is proposed. The output voltage errors due to the dead-time effect is considered as disturbance voltages. The magnitude of the disturbance voltages is estimated using a time delay control technique and the disturbance voltages are calculated using the estimated values, measured currents, and position information. The calculated disturbance voltages are fed to voltage references in order to compensate the dead-time effect. The proposed method is applied to a PM synchronous motor drive system and implemented in a digital manner using a digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320C31. The experiments are carried out for this system to show the effectiveness of the proposed method and the results show the validity of the proposed method.
Design of the Feed Forward Controller in Digital Method to Improve Transient Characteristics for Dynamic Voltage Restorers

This paper discusses how to control the compensation voltages in dynamic voltage restorers (DVR). On analyzing the power circuit of a DVR system, control limitations and control targets are presented for the voltage compensation in DVRs. Based on the preceded power stage analysis, a novel controller for the compensation voltages of DVRs is proposed by a feed forward control scheme. This paper discusses also the time delay problems in the control system of DVRs. Digitally controlled DVR systems normally have control delay at amount of one sampling time of the control system and a half of the switching period of the DVR inverter. The control delay in digital controllers increases the dimension of the system transfer function one degree higher, which makes the control system more complicate and more unstable. This paper proposes a guide line to design the control gain, appropriate output filter parameters and inverter switching frequency for DVRs with digital controllers. Proposed theory is verified by an experimental DVR system with a full digital controller.
Electronic Ballast of High Power Factor Using SEPIC Converter for Electrodeless Fluorescent Lamps

In this Paper the electronic ballast using the SEPIC(Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter) converter for the multiple electrodeless fluorescent lamps is proposed, which has the structure of the active PFC and self oscillating function. The SEPIC converter system has the characteristics of the power factor with low input current harmonic distortion. The proposed control method is based on the aveage-current-mode using the dedicated integrated circuit UC3854. The proposed electronic ballast has the reduction effect for the energy and manufacturing cost because it is designed for tripple electrodeless fluorescent lamps. The experimental results shows that the power factor is higher and the THD is lower.
A Inverter Control System for Vertical Circulation Parking Facility

In this study, we developed the inverter system to control Induction motor for the vertically circulation parking facility. In the case of calling a pallet, a car parking space, we basically stoned conventional system's problems, pallet is uncontrollable to the fixed position and braking system was worn by forcer braking with remaining speed. Also, by appling to converter controller, added to power regenerative control function, we confirmed the reduce of power supply capacity and the energy saving effect according to increasing operation frequency. The validity of this system is verified by 55kw induction motor driving system. Via this study, the proposed system shows the efficient use of parking facility and good operation characteristics by implementing position and speed control effectively on condition of load and shows energy saying effect by power factor control for the vertically circulation parking facility operation.
