Recently, UWAC (underwater acoustic communication) has been studied by many scholars and researchers. DS-CDMA, OFDM (orthogonal-frequency division multiplexing), and MIMO (multi-input multi-output), modulation and error correction, and others techniques that can transmit high-speed data are used in UWAC. In this paper, we first briefly present the theoretical background of estimating the arrival time of the first non-background segment in both signals and calculate the temporal difference. We also present the initial experimental result of estimating the arrival time.
A Study on Ultra-Wideband Patch Antenna with Modified Barrel Shape

This paper implemented an ultra-wideband(: UWB) antenna by using a modified barrel-shaped patch antenna. The designed UWB patch antenna was optimized to match UWB technical specifications by considering the sizes of barrel circle and oval(notch) which is distance between the patch and contact surface and designed antenna was implemented by
size. Optimal values on the basis of simulated reflective loss results, the surface current distribution of designed patch antenna was analyzed in order to check operation mode of antenna and wideband mechanism. Experimental results of implemented UWB antenna, Return loss of UWB antenna the voltage standing wave ratio was 2 or less in the 1.775-13.075 GHz band, VSWR in 2 or less. And the maximum gain of approx. 1-3 dBi was found in 3.1-10.6 GHz. This result satisfied the characteristics of ultra-wideband and the proposed antenna will be applicable to an ultra-wideband system.
Performance of Cooperative Networks with Mixed Relaying Protocols in Railway Environments

Cooperative networks enhance the overall communication performance by combining signals from relay nodes and direct signal. In this paper, we analyze the performance of cooperative communication systems which use mixed relaying protocols. By assuming several relay nodes exist between the source node and destination node, we consider the systems use not a single relaying protocol but both decode-and-forward and amplify-and-forward protocols randomly. We analyze the effect of each relying protocol for the overall system performance, and also consider the performance depending on the relay location. Differential modulation scheme which demodulates signal without channel state information is adopted where it can be applicable fast varying channel such as railway environments.
Effect of spectral drift to coherent optical fiber sensor

Effect of spectral drift in coherent fiber laser was investigated by injecting optical feedback to Fabry-Perot resonance loop. Er+3 doped fiber laser having unilateral optical feedback loop in Fabry-Perot configuration using two FBGs was fabricated. The optical feedback was found to be effective in linewidth reduction of fiber laser compared to the case without any optical feedback. The linewidth of three fiber lasers using above configuration were measured to be within 3kHz which is resolution-limited performance of self-heterodyne linewidth measurement set-up. The frequency drift measurement using Mach-Zehnder measurement set-up having 200m optical delay-line in one arm showed that the frequency drift rate of optical feedback fiber laser was measured as 300kHz/sec which was better than the case without optical feedback.

The performance of 4-switch 3-phase inverter(: FSTPI) which replace two switches of 6-switch 3-phase inverter(: SSTPI) is mainly affected by the compensator unbalanced voltages and output voltage control method. This paper proposes a DC offset current injection method to compensate the capacitor unbalanced voltages for FSTPI. A simplified SVPWM method which can be applied to FSTPI is also proposed. The validity of the proposed methods is verified by simulation and experiment using SPMSM.

A study on the Throughput Guarantee with TCP Traffic Control

Recently, as the rapid development of network technology and the increase of services required high bandwidth such as multimedia service, the network traffic dramatically increases. This massive increase of network traffic causes some problems such as the degradation of QoS and the lack of network resources and, to solve these problems, various research to guarantee QoS have been performing. Currently, The most representative method to guarantee the QoS is the DiffServ(: Differentiated Service). The DiffServ defines the AF(: Assured Forwarding) PHB(: Per Hop Behavior) and statistically ensures the throughput over the certain level of data rate. However, the TCP congestion control method that make up the majority of the Internet traffic is not fundamentally suitable to the DiffServ that guarantees the throughput without managing the individual flow. Therefore, in this paper, we present this mismatch through the simulation as an example and propose the solution by controlling the TCP of the terminal in the network. The proposed scheme utilizes the information of the reception window size included in the ACK frame and does not require any modification of the TCP algorithms currently in use.
Study on QoE of the VoIP Service for QoS levels over LTE Mobile Communication System

Recently, the voice service over a mobile communication system tends to be provided based on the packet-based technology. Even though the sufficient transmission rate is supported by LTE mobile communication system, the quality of VoIP service that is experienced by the user can be degraded by the change in the transmission conditions and the terminal mobility. This paper has established an environment on which experiments are conducted for the different values of the major parameters that represent the transmission conditions. The result can contribute to the decision of the requirement that the mobile system should meet for maintaining the quality of VoIP service.
QoS Routing for WiMedia-Based Wireless Mesh Networks

WiMedia provides the data rate of up to 1Gbps, but the transmission range is restricted to approximately 10 meters. When constructing a multi-hop WiMedia network to extend its coverage, conventional hop-based routing may not guarantee satisfactorily the required QoS. We propose two QoS routing techniques for the WiMedia-based wireless mesh network. The proopsed QoS routing reflects the characteristics of TDMA-based WiMedia MAC and develops QoS extensions separately for on-demand routing and table-driven routing. Through simulations, we identify that the QoS routing shows better performance than the hop-based routing. It also turns out that the QoS on-demand routing and the QoS table-driven routing show conflicting performance results depending on the transmission power.
Study on Sea Level Changes in Korean Peninsula by Using Satellite Altimetry Data

Sea level is upward trend since the end of 19th century, it is accelerating after 20th century. Because sea level height has regional differences, we concerned sea level change in Korean Peninsula. We used Topex/Poseidon, Jason-1 and Jason-2 satellite altimetry data which has
resolution. From 1993 to 2013, for 21 years, monthly mean sea level anomaly was negative between January and April, positive between March and October. Bohai Bay in China, affected the continental climate, showed big sea level changes. Mean sea level data showed remarkably affecting the continental climate in Bohai Bay in China, the Kuroshio Current and eddy affects the sea level change.

In this paper, we propose a GRNN(: Generalized Regression Neural Network) algorithms for new eyes and face recognition identification system to solve the points that need corrective action in accordance with the existing problems of facial movements gaze upon it difficult to identify the user and. Analysis of Distributions of Macrobenthic in the Intertidal Zone of Suncheon Bay by using Satellite Image and In-situ Data

This study is conducted for analysis of distribution of macrobenthic by using satellite image and in-situ data in the intertidal zone of Suncheon bay. The satellite images on low tide on July 7, 2010 and high tide on Sept. 25, 2010, respectively, are classified into sea water, tidal flat and land. It is to extract for intertidal zone overlaying at low tide and high tide image from previously classified image. Total number of species emergence are 196 species in the intertidal zone, and most species are emergence in the right part of the subtidal zone. The Sigambra tentaculata is the dominant species and emergence the Mediomastus californiensis, Magelona japonica, etc. It is noticed that many kind of macrobenthic distribution in the subtidal zone more than the supralittoral zone. It find out that contamination due to organic through the macrobenthic distribution with a strong resistance to organic in the subtidal zone of Suncheon Bay.

It is the personal information protection law is prepared, in the government, to develop a personal information protection basic plan has been implemented. However, year after year, complaints caused by infringement of personal information in public institutions has increased. In this paper, the recognition level of analysis related to the protection of personal information of local governments, public institutions through a questionnaire survey, raised the need for improvement.
