A User Adaptation Method for Hand Shape Recognition Using Wrist-Mounted Camera

This paper proposes a robust hand segmentation method using view-invariant characteristic of a wrist-mounted camera, and deals with a hand shape recognition system based on segmented hand information. We actively utilize the advantage of the proposed camera device that provides view-invariant images physically, and segment hand region using a Bayesian rule based on adaptive histograms. We construct HSV histograms from RGB histograms, and update HSV histograms using hand region information from a current image. We also propose a user adaptation method by which hand models gradually approach user-dependent models from user-independent models as the user uses the system. The proposed method was evaluated using 16 Korean manual alphabet, and we obtained increases of 27.91% in recognition success rate.

In this paper, the research is to develop a system that can detect the breakage of the rubber belt conveyor system in the transport of the raw materials required for the operation of logistics. We are to develop a system that can detect the breakage of the belt due to the electronic system of belt breakage occurs by placing the material on the inside of the belt, electric induction to minimize the damage of the belt. The belt repair costs, or reorder the steps of the logistics transit time can be reduced. Induced in the coil, and belt embedded in the transmitted signal as a way to detect the breakage of the belt was to detect the damage of the belt by detecting the electrical phenomena induced in the coil at the receiving end.
Modification to Traffic Indication Method for IEEE 802.16 Sleep Mode Operation

IEEE 802.16 standard specifies the broadband wireless access (BWA) system including sleep mode to minimize the power consumption by a mobile station (MS). This paper outlines the overall operation of sleep mode and proposes a method to improve the power saving efficiency of the IEEE 802.16 sleep mode. The proposed method not only decreases the number of bytes that a MS in sleep mode needs to receive during listening interval but allows to indicate a control-specific operation such as periodic ranging.
Displacement Estimation using MEMS Accelerometer for Low Frequency Motion

MEMS accelerometer provides a low cost alternative in retrieving the acceleration signal for motion sensing. Theoretically, displacement can be calculated by double integrate the acceleration signal. However, in practical, it could not be done in straight forward manner due to several factors that exist in the real world. This experiment focuses on the processes from practical accelerometer signal acquisition till the result of double integration for low frequency vertical motion.

In this paper, an effort has been made to design and develop an optimized programming model for Real-time Ship Management System. Replacing the conventional interrupt-driven programming model, an embedded real-time operating system (RTOS) has been implemented on the system, allowing processes to run virtually simultaneous and multitasking. Data management algorithms are designed and developed in the RTOS to facilitate data distribution amongst tasks and optimize the CPU processing time through intelligent resource utilization. Finally, data lost in the system has been minimized via the improvement of data processing rate under the optimized programming model.
A Study on Implementation of Sound Recording and Player of Smartphone for Mobile Learning

This paper implements a smartphone application for sound recording and player of mobile learning. Due to its ubiquitous nature, smartphones could be used anytime anywhere, and because they combine an audio and a microphone, the application for sound recording and player that this paper suggests can be easily and cost effectively developed without additional infrastructure. This paper also explains a technique which processes data of music lyrics. The technique is built on a database technology by using SQLite, a DBMS combined in a platform of android. Thus, as long as the smartphone application for sound recording and player is developed and the mobile phone has sound source files, learners could record their own voices to the sound. Therefore, we expect the learners without additional infrastructure to enable mobile learning.
On the Availability of Anti-Forensic Tools for Android Smartphones

Smartphone is very useful for use in the real life through the improvement of computing power, faster data rate and the variety of applications. On the other hand, using the smartphone has been exposed to a lot of crime. Also, it occurs attempting to delete a data of smartphone memory by anti-forensic tools. In this paper, we investigate and analyze the anti-forensic tools used in the Android smartphone to study the characteristics and techniques of anti-forensic tools. In addition, experiments are performed to validate the availability of anti-forensic tools by the Oxygen Forensic Suite that is a commercial forensic tool.
Cybertrap : Unknown Attack Detection System based on Virtual Honeynet

Recently application of open protocols and external network linkage to the national critical infrastructure has been growing with the development of information and communication technologies. This trend could mean that the national critical infrastructure is exposed to cyber attacks and can be seriously jeopardized when it gets remotely operated or controlled by viruses, crackers, or cyber terrorists. In this paper virtual Honeynet model which can reduce installation and operation resource problems of Honeynet system is proposed. It maintains the merits of Honeynet system and adapts the virtualization technology. Also, virtual Honeynet model that can minimize operating cost is proposed with data analysis and collecting technique based on the verification of attack intention and focus-oriented analysis technique. With the proposed model, new type of attack detection system based on virtual Honeynet, that is Cybertrap, is designed and implemented with the host and data collecting technique based on the verification of attack intention and the network attack pattern visualization technique. To test proposed system we establish test-bed and evaluate the functionality and performance through series of experiments.
UC(Unified Communication) Systems Development using Mobile Application

In this paper, high-quality business-type communications(UC) capabilities of the communication activities overlap, waste, reducing rework process improvement provides for high efficiency. Messages sent via UC app development, FMC calling features, schedule management organization for the development and deployment DataBase UC server deployment, the search for the JSP implementation, XMPP is using the messaging system. IP-PBX running on the IP network, on the basis of UC applications in real life, improve utilization of the infrastructure necessary to provide services to the system design and implementation.
Speed Control of IPMSM Using Nonlinear and Adaptive Back-Stepping Controller Including Integral Gain

In this paper, a nonlinear and adaptive back-stepping control technique is proposed for a speed control of IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor). The gain of back-stepping controller(including integral value of the states error) is designed for stability of the system. In order to adapting fast in variation of load torque, the controller is including load torque estimator. The simulation is completed by using PSIM software. The simulation results show that the designed back-stepping controller make the system stable in the constant torque region, and has better tracking performance than a controller without the integral gain.

Real-Time Quad-Copter Tracking With Multi-Cameras and Ray-based Importance Sampling

In this paper, we focus on how to calibrate multi-cameras easily and how to efficiently detect quad-copters with small-numbered particles. Each particle is a six dimensional vector that is composed of 3D position and 3D orientation of a quad-copter in the space. Due to curse of dimensionality, that leads to explosive computational costs with a large amount of high-dimensioned particles. To detect efficiently, we need to put more particles in very promising spaces and few particles in other spaces. Though computational cost is lowered by minimizing particles, in order to track a quad-copter with multiple cameras in real-time, multiple images from the cameras should be synchronized and analyzed. Therefore, lots of the computations still need to be done. Because of this, GPGPU(General-Purpose computing on Graphics Processing Units) is implemented for parallel computing. This method has been successfully tested and gives accurate results in practical situations.
Performance Analysis of TPMS Beamformer According to Variance of Antenna Interelement Spacing

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is an auxiliary safety system for recognizing the condition of tires based on the pressure and temperature data transmitted from the sensor unit installed on a tire of the vehicle. Using TPMS, a driver can frequently check the state of tires and it aids to maintain the optimum running condition of the vehicle. Since TPMS must utilize the wireless communication technique to transmit data from a sensor unit to a signal processing unit installed in the vehicle, it suffers from interference signals caused by various external electrical or electronic devices. In order to suppress high-power interference signals, we employ beamforming techniques based on the uniform linear antenna array. As the number of the antennas is increased, the performance of the interference suppression is improved. However, there is the limit of the number of antennas, installed in the center of a vehicle, because of its size. In this paper, we compare and analyze the performance of the beamformer, when reducing the interelement spacing of antennas, to increase the number of the receiving antennas. For the performance analysis of the beamformers, we consider the switching beamformer and minimum-variance distortionless-response (MVDR) beamformer for TPMS, recently proposed.
A Design and Development of the Smoke Detection System Using Infra-red Laser for Fire Detection in the Wide Space

In this paper, we propose a smoke detection system in order to detect a fire in a wide space, such as tunnel, airports using infra-red and visible laser. The proposed smoke detection system is composed of infra-red laser transmitter and receiver, visible laser and Zigbee wireless communication network. A visible laser is used to match transmitter and receiver and Zigbee network is utilized to propagate warnings of fire. If smoke is appeared between transmitter and receiver, received signals are decreased and it can be considered as occurring smoke. As IR laser transmitter and receiver are separated by long distance, it is difficult to match due to large variations caused by small change of direction. In this paper, it is proposed to match effectively using visible laser. When smoke is detected, warning informations are propagated by Zigbee network in the developed smoke detection system.
Design of RFID Packaging for Construction Materials

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), which is a kind of the electronic tag, is a wireless access device using the radio frequency for recognizing the ID information. It has a variety of application such as the bus card, gate access card, distribution industry, and management of construction materials. The performance and size of RFID depend on the penetrability, recognition ratio, memory size, multi tag recognition, external pollution dust, and exterior impact, and RFID requires the packaging to protect itself considered above factors. Recently, RFID is diversely employed to effectively manage construction materials and the RFID packaging, which is robust to the external impact, is required to attach RFID on construction materials. In this paper, we propose the construction material RFID packaging designed to be robust for the external impact and to be practicable for change of the broken RFID. For the change of RFID, we separate the cast and body of the packaging. Also, we present the detail drawing for the proposed construction material RFID packaging and implement the performance evaluation of the packaging manufactured using 3D printer.
Establishment of the Digital Era Elderly by Lifelong Educational Leisure Sports

Our country is defenseless against the aging population in society that is suddenly and rapidly increasing. This is expressed as the aging shock and aged society earthquake, warning us of the crisis in the future society. Senior citizens of Korea are a group that does not receive proper education due to various social factors, and it is a group that requires lifelong education more than any other group, and therefore, senior citizens have become a priority target for lifelong education. Thus, the need for lifelong education for seniors can be said to be in establishing a new senior citizen image so that they may live a fuller retirement by improving their abilities to appropriately adapt to the rapidly changing modern society due to the digital times. Furthermore, with the enhanced cultural level and personal desire for a fuller life in the modern society, the necessity for leisure activities has been emphasized. Instead of simply relieving stress through leisure activities, it aims at being provided with educational opportunities through leisure activities. Therefore, senior leisure activity education should be an important method for establishing the senior citizen identity of a self-oriented senior, productive senior, volunteering senior, informed senior, and a well-rounded senior, which are all the image of senior citizens in the 21st century. In addition, a specialized leisure activity program that systematically provides education for leisure activities should be performed from the perspective of lifelong education. Hence, the significance of senior citizen leisure activities as lifelong education is in improving health, enhancing sociability and realizing one's self, while improving the quality of life for senior citizens. It will be greatly meaningful for establishing the new senior citizen image in which they independently live their own lives, while not being dependent on others, as required in the 21st century.
Relationship between Job Characteristic and Quality of Life among some Elderly

This study is to provide basic data on the jobs program to identify the relevance of the professional activities and quality of life of the elderly and the elderly, were performed using the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.. Survey population of 1,472 patients were 65 years of age or older. The survey method, t-test, ANOVA and multilevel regression analysis was used. This study result of quality of life of elderly people with a job, unemployed elderly people appeared to be higher than the quality of life(
, p=0.000). In work mode regular workers was an average of 0.93 points((p=0.005), in working hour full-time average 0.91 points(p=0.079), in job classification professional average 0.91 points(p=0.044) the higher the quality of life. Elderly business jobs, there is a need to improve the quality of life of the elderly to consider the results of this study work business.
Characteristics of Frequency Band on EEG Signal Causing Human Drowsiness

We measured and analyzed the brain waves to observe the characteristics of human drowsiness. The basic method is to analyze the EEG(Electroencephalography) signals from subjects according to the frequency bands. It has been reported that alpha waves are related to a wakefulness state, an eye closure state and a state that begins to sleep. In this study, therefore, we restricted the frequency band for analyzing to between 8 and 13Hz called brain's alpha waves. We observed which components had a stronger influence on human drowsiness among the restricted frequency band and represented the experimental results to analyze using the power spectrum method.
Korean High School Students' Health Behaviors and the Relation to Depression

In this study, in an attempt to prevent depression and improve their quality of life, we investigated the relationship between the occurrence rate of depression among high school students. We used the data from the 2011-2 online census on youth health behavior conducted by the Ministry of Disease Control. There were 37,261 male students along with 36,797 female students for a total of 74,058 subjects. The rate of depression occurrence was 29.2% for male students and 39.6% for female students indicating that female students are having more depression than male students. As a result of the study, it was discovered that the male subjects felt 6.04 times more depression and the female subjects felt 6.98 times more depression as they encountered more stress. The males had 1.42 times more depression and the females had 1.60 times more depression when they had the experience of smoking. The male subjects had 1.37 times more depression and the female subjects had 1.41 times more depression when they had the experience of drinking. The males who joined in on physical activities for more than four days and those who joined in them for one to three days had 1.34 times and 1.16 times more depression respectively. The females who had physical activities for more than four days and those who had them for one to three days had 1.42 times and 1.28 times more depression respectively. As a result this study showed that there are correlations between variables relating to healthy behavior and the prevalence of depression.
Relationship between Demographic Characteristics, Health and Internet Addiction and Drug Uses among the Korean High School Students

This study aimed to examine the relationships between demographic characteristics, health, and internet addiction factors and drug uses among the Korean high school students. The 2009 Korean Youth Health Risk Behavior On-line Survey data was used for this study. It selected 73,238 cases of junior and senior high school students from the raw dataset and conducted a secondary data analysis. Frequency analysis and chi-square test were conducted for this study. Gender, living with parents, economic status, school level, academic record, subjective health status, subjective well-being, level of stress, level of depression and internet addiction were significantly associated with their drug uses. Findings may be used for developing strategies to cope with drug uses among the Korean high school students.

This study tried to investigate the relationships between demographic characteristics and delinquent behaviors factors of the Korean high school students and their level of stress. The 2009 Korean Youth Health Risk Behavior On-line Survey data was used for this study. It selected 35,668 cases of senior high school students from the raw dataset and conducted a secondary data analysis. Frequency analysis, t-test, F-test were conducted for this study. Gender, living with parents, economic status, school type, grade, academic record, internet addiction, problem drinking, smoking were significantly associated with their level of stress. Findings may be used for coping with stress among the Korean senior high school students.
