A Study on the Power Amplifier Development using Traveling wave combiner in X-band

In this study, we have implemented a PAM(Power Amplifier Module) with 25W output power using by cooperate divider/Combiner circuit in X-band to minimize combine loss on a Al2O3 substrate. The PAM(Power Amplifier Module) is consisted of MMIC and 10way traveling wave divider/Combiner with proposed structure what have showed that 45.2dBm output power, 16dB gain, PAE 26 % and 17dBc@44dBm IMD3 characteristics. This combine/divider structure can be used when multistage passive divider and combiner needs. especially, power amplifier with very compact size.
The Bi-directional Least Mean Square Algorithm and Its Application to Echo Cancellation

The objective of an echo canceller connected to any end of a communication line such as digital subscriber line (DSL) is to compensate the outgoing transmit signal in the receiving path that the hybrid circuit leaks. The echo canceller working in a full duplex environment is an adaptive system driven by the local signal. Conventional echo canceller that implement the least mean square (LMS) algorithm provides a low computational burden but poor convergence properties. The length of the echo canceller will directly affect both the degree of performance and the convergence speed of the adaptation process. To cancel long time-varying echoes, the number of tap coefficients of a conventional echo canceller must be large, which decreases the convergence speed of the adaptive filter. This paper proposes an alternative technique for the echo cancellation in a telecommunication channel. The new technique employs the bi-directional least mean square (LMS) algorithm for adaptively computing the optimal set of the coefficients of the echo canceller, which is composed of weighted combination of both feedforward and feedback algorithms. Finally, Simulation results as well as mathematical analysis demonstrates that the proposed echo canceller has faster convergence speed than the conventional LMS echo canceller with nearly equivalent complexity of computation.
Analysis of Metastability for the Synchronizer of NoC

Bus architecture of SoC has been replaced by NoC in recent years. Noc uses the multi-clock domains to transmit and receive data between neighbor network interfaces and they have same frequency, but a phase difference because of clock skew. So a synchronizer is used for a mesochronous frequency in interconnection between network interfaces. In this paper the metastability is defined and analyzed in a D latch and a D flip-flop to search the possibilities that data can be lost in the process of sending and receiving data between interconnects when a local frequency and a transmitted frequency have a phase difference. 180nm CMOS model parameter and 1GHz are used to simulate them in HSpice. The simulation results show that the metastability happens in a latch and a flip-flop when input data change near the clock edges and there are intermediate states for a longer time as input data change closer at the clock edge. And the next stage can lose input data depending on environmental conditions such as temperature, processing variations, power supply, etc. The simulation results are very useful to design a mescochronous synchronizer for NoC.
Concealing Communication Paths in Wireless Sensor Networks

Tremendous amount of dummy packets are generally generated for faking over a wireless sensor network so as to keep the location privacy of nodes on the communication paths against the global eavesdropping. In this paper, a scoped-flooding protocol is designed for transferring data between each source and mobile sink(aka, basestation) where, the only nodes within the scope are allowed to issue dummy packets at every idle time so that the location privacy of the nodes on the paths is kept and the amount of dummy packets is reduced to the extend of the flooding scope. The size of the flooding diameter can be taken into consideration of the privacy level and the communication cost. We design a detailed specification of the protocol and verify several properties.
Performance Measurement of IEEE 802.11p based Communication Systems in Large Capacity Transmission

IEEE 802.11p is a representative PHY/MAC layer standard in vehicular communications. The performance of IEEE 802.11p based communication systems has been measured in various criterions such as link setup time, error rate, and throughput for the case of one-to-one. In this paper, we measure the performance of IEEE 802.11p based communication systems in large capacity transmission. The performance of large capacity transmission is measured by considering the maximum 32 simultaneous transmission including one-to-one transmission. We consider two transmission schemes, i.e., broadcasting and unicasting, and the performance is represented as the receiving rate and throughput.

In recent, the LTE(Long-Term Evolution) mobile communication system has been commercialized and a variety of service is being provided. Comparing to the old wireless access systems such as 3G mobile communications, in particular, the LTE system supports a service requiring a high transmission rate by providing broadband wireless access. In order to understand the possibility of successful support of a multimedia service such as IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) through the LTE system, it is necessary to understand the mechanism that decides the transmission rate supported by the LTE system. This paper, therefore, discusses on the relationship between a number of metrics such as CQI and BLER that affects the transmission rate with the measurement results from the field tests.
A Study on Algorithm for Travel Time Estimation using Restricted GPS Data

In order to calculate accurate traffic and traffic speed, qualified and sufficient GPS data should be provided. However, it is difficult to provide accurate traffic information using restricted GPS data from probe vehicles because of communication costs. This paper developed a algorithm that recovers links omitted by restricted GPS data with topology information, and calculate traffic speed with original links and recovered links. T traffic information service of city with a new algorithm can provide more accurate traffic and traffic speed than the original system.

This paper is proposed a wavelet-based the order statistics MAD(Median Absolute Deviation) method of SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) image for image enhancement. also The method of compared and defined the threshold the wavelet coefficients using MAD of the wavelet coefficients of the detail subbands was proposed to effectively image enhancement. In order to complement the disadvantage, the threshold of the proposed method sets up the image statistic and excludes the distortion. The hardware design is used FPGA of Xilinx and DSP system for the image enhancement and compressed encoding of the proposed algorithm. Therefore the proposed method is totally verified by comparing with the several other images.

Development of Smart-phone based Thermal Imaging Diagnostic System for Monitoring Disc Pads of Crane

Grab cranes are used for multi-purpose when the sand and soil are deposited into harbor wharf or the undersea construction is performed. Among the components of crane grab, the wire drum and disc brake pad are key expendables and have disadvantages that lot of heat is generated and very expensive when replacing them. In this study, the thermal image analysis for the disc brake, which works with wire drum of the crane is suggested. The suggested system performs the pad thermal diagnosis through the thermal image using the characteristics that the disc and pad surface temperatures are distributed abnormally before the brake failure and the disc pad damage. Therefore, the damage by the failure can be prevented by discovering the abnormality of the machine parts before failure and the life cycle of the pad and the cost can be extended and saved by operating the crane performing constant checkup for the overload.

3D Printing Design for Minimizing Flection Phenomenon

3D printer is based on an additive manufacturing technology, which helps in creating the three-dimensional object using a 3D drawing. It is used in various fields, because it prints out a variety of three-dimensional products in a short period of time. In this paper, we consider a technique using the FDM(Fused Deposition Modeling) method by dissolving the ABS(Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) resin among a diversity of printing technique and materials. This kind of the 3D printer prints out a product in high temperature and cools down it. In this process, a flection phenomenon is occurred according to the size of the printing product and the surrounding environment. Conventional methods for mitigating this phenomenon maintain the temperature at the optimum level, but they require using additional devices. In order to minimize the flection phenomenon in 3D printing products without additional devices, in this paper, we propose a noble technique, which creates holes on suitable positions when they are designed by 3D drawing tools. Also, we suggest mathematical model for the proposed method, and measure and analyse a printing output using a proposed technique.
EEG Brainwave Analysis for Research on Meditation Influence to the Concentration

Many people complain their big or little stress due to the complicated city life in modern times, so they are exposed of the mental illness. Especially, not only students and office workers but also most people suffer from degradation of efficiency at work and keeping the high quality of life because of the insufficiency of concentration ability. To improve the concentration ability, the meditation is a substitution. The influence of meditation for the concentration ability is experimented with EEG brainwave. Some experienced meditators are participated for the experiments, and the left and right portion of prefrontal lobe, AF3 and AF4, are measured and analyzed. As a result, the changes of rhythmic activity of a unique pattern and power spectra are observed.

This paper was designed to analyze thermal properties using thermoelectric element for air-cooling heat dissipation of 13.2W-class COB LED. For comparative analysis with generally used air cooling methods, the heat sink was designed and produced, and this experiment was conducted to measure the temperature distribution using a contact thermometer while the COB LED was operating for 100 minutes. Love which is one of the emotional of mankind, has been studied in sociology and psychology as a matter of grate concern. In this paper we propose a modified romantic behaviors by using basic the love equation of Romeo and Juliet. We represent the behaviors using time series and phase portrait when we vary the parameter in the modified love equation. Adaptive Intra Frame Encoding for H.264/AVC

In H.264 standard, an intra frame is the first frame of a GOP (Group of Pictures) and all macroblocks of an intra frame are encoded using the same quantization parameter. In addition, an intra frame is used for encoding the following frames of the same GOP so the encoding results of an intra frame affect the encoding results of the entire GOP. Thus, it is important to find the optimal quantization parameter of an intra frame for improving the quality of a GOP. In this paper, we propose an searching method for an optimal quantization parameter of an intra frame in real time. The proposed method uses a gradient descent method to find the optimal value based on characteristics of the optimal quantization parameters. Experimental results show that the proposed method captures the characteristics of the optimal quantization parameter and accurately estimates the optimal value.
