Speech Recognition based on Environment Adaptation using SNR Mapping

Multiple-model based speech recognition framework (MMSR) has been known to be very successful in speech recognition. Since it uses multiple hidden Markov modes (HMMs) that corresponds to various noise types and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values, the selected acoustic model can have a close match with the test noisy speech. However, since the number of HMM sets is limited in practical use, the acoustic mismatch still remains as a problem. In this study, we experimentally determined the optimal SNR mapping between the test noisy speech and the HMM set to mitigate the mismatch between them. Improved performance was obtained by employing the SNR mapping instead of using the estimated SNR from the test noisy speech. When we applied the proposed method to the MMSR, the experimental results on the Aurora 2 database show that the relative word error rate reduction of 6.3% and 9.4% was achieved compared to a conventional MMSR and multi-condition training (MTR), respectively.
Interference Cancellation System in Repeater Using Adaptive algorithm with step sizes

In the paper, we propose a new Signed LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm for ICS(Interference Cancellation System). The proposed Signed LMS algorithm improved performances by adjusting step size values. At the convergence of 1000 iteration state, the MSE(Mean Square Error) performance of the proposed Signed LMS algorithm with step size of 0.067 is about 3 ~ 18 dB better than the conventional LMS, CMA algorithm. And the proposed Signed LMS algorithm requires 500 ~ 4000 less iterations than the and LMS and CMA algorithms at MSE of -25dB.

. It was packed by the TO-5 type. The electrical properties of the dark currents have valued of approximately 0.1 nA for 5 V reverse bias, while the capacitance showed 32.5 pF at frequency range of 1 kHz and about 32.4 pF at the range of 200 kHz for 0 V. In addition, the rising time of output signal was as fast response as 20.92 ns for 10V. For the optical properties, the best spectrum sensitivity was 0.57 A/W for 890 nm, while it was relatively excellent value of 0.37 A/W for 1,000 nm. Over all, there were good spectrum sensitivity for this diode over the range of 870 ~ 920 nm.

The high power COB(Chip on Board) LED, densely arranged chips on a board, are increasing to resolve heat problems in LED that has luminous semiconductor chips as main materials. In case of high-power COB LED, protection against heat is necessary due to the power consumption is high. Also if the temperature of device increases, the optical emission becomes less efficient and the life rapidly reduces due to thermal stress. This study packaged 13.5W COB LED and heat sink with difference form and produced 13.5W COB LED down-light heat sink by analyzing the thermal modes with Solidworks Flow Simulation. And finally it analyzed and evaluated the thermal modes using contacting and non-contacting thermometers.
Design of VHF Antenna for Marin Communication

In this paper, a VHF antenna with monopole structure is designed and fabricated for marine wireless communication applications. The proposed antenna is based on a monopole design, and composed of circular ring and meander structure for VHF operation which cover VHF frequency bands. To obtain the optimized parameters, we used the simulator, Ansoft's High Frequency Structure Simulator(HFSS) and found the parameters that greatly effect antenna characteristics. Using the obtained parameters, the antenna is fabricated. The experiment results demonstrated that the proposed antenna satisfied the -10 dB impedance bandwidth requirement while covering the VHF bands. And measured characteristics of gain and radiation patterns are obtained for operating bands.

One of the most important decision making is which product's components should make in-house and which should they outsource. This paper suggests a framework to solve above question. This paper applies to LCD TV industry with AHP analysis. The results shows that Scaler chip, LCD panel, MPEG decoder, and Video decoder are important components. Samsung Electronics turn out make in-house these core component. This research will be a good guideline for selecting core component.
A Curriculum Design of Computer Application Department for Non-Commissioned Officers

The purpose of this paper is to develop curriculum for the Department of Computer Application Based Army Contracts. Because the Army contract department is a retraining undergraduate degree program targeting noncommissioned officers in service, its curriculum has no choice but to differ from those of other departments. The curriculum of the Department of Computer Application focuses on the reeducation of noncommissioned officers in service and consumers of education. In addition to the subjects related to the scientific and informational movement of the military, the subjects needed to qualify for the second-degree military counsellor certificate are reflected in the curriculum, which is a first for regular universities. The appropriate curriculum of the Department of Computer Application will be proposed including subjects for noncommissioned officers to cultivate leadership skills for managing subordinates and various subjects road map of department specializations will be also developed.
Analysis of EEG Generated from Concentration by Visual Stimulus Task

It has been known that the particular brain waves are induced when a human concentrates. In our study, we aimed to analysis the brain waves related to human concentration using visual stimulus to induce the concentration. The visual stimulus tasks were presented to subjects for concentration. We measured EEG signals with several channels and analyzed the signals into several frequency bands. In the measured EEG signals, we analyzed to focus on theta waves, SMR waves and mid-beta waves. Therefore we presented the results to investigate characteristics of the EEG signals related to the human concentration.
Comparison of EEG Characteristics between Dementia Patient and Normal Person Using Frequency Analysis Method

Nowadays our society is rapidly transforming into an aging society. A better understanding of dementia is a high priority in the aging society. Therefore our study is basically aimed at understanding characteristics of EEG signals from dementia patients. Firstly, we analyzed spontaneous EEG signals from normal persons and dementia patients to distinguish their characteristics. The EEG signals are recorded with 16 electrodes and we classified the EEG signals form the signals according to frequency band. To obtain the clean EEG signals, we used cross correlation function between two channels. From the analysis results, we can observe that the EEG characteristics from dementia patients are distinctly different from that from normal persons.
An Image Denoising Algorithm for the Mobile Phone Cameras

In this study we propose an image denoising algorithm appropriate for mobile smart phone equipped with limited computing ability, which has better performance and at the same time comparable quality comparing with previous studies. The proposed image denoising algorithm for mobile smart phone cameras in low level light environment reduces computational complexity and also prevents edge smoothing by extracting just Gaussian noises from the noisy input image. According to the experiment result, we verified that our algorithm has much better PSNR value than methods applying mean filter or median filter. Also the result image from our algorithm has better clear quality since it preserves edges while smoothing input image. Moreover, the suggested algorithm reduces computational complexity about 52% compared to the method applying original Laplacian mask computation, and we verified that our algorithm has good denoising quality by implementing the algorithm in Android smart phone.

Recently, photovoltaic inverter is received attention in photovoltaic with introduction of feed-in tariff. However, this inverter has problems such as inability to respond flexible at climate change due to its opening, and decrease of efficiency and lifetime due to its abnormal operation. To solve the problem, we desire to develop the eco-inverter which has a temperature control to respond easily on the change of temperature, and use the sealed structure not to affect the environment. In addition, we derive the optimal position of cooling system which is placed inside of inverter to minimize the power consumption, and proposed the effective measure to improve the efficient of inverter by deciding the number of cooling system.
Development of Small Crane Control System to Improve Fishery Operations

It is required a lot of strength in aquaculture, such as dragging up or moving heavy loads. So, a helper system like excavator at construction is need for fishermen. As most of HFMSC(Hydraulic Fishery Managing Small Crane)s are operated based on ON/OFF control, it can make sway the contents in the crane. In worse case, it could threaten workers. In this paper, we development the MICOM based controller which can reduce the swing sway. This paper describes the hydraulic characteristics, the design method of controller and the control algorithms. And, the proposed controller show the efficiency to carry out the experimental validation.
