Implementation of FBG Sensor Network System for Monitoring Structure Deformation

FBG sensors are mainly used to measure deformation of structures such as tunnels, bridges and ships. In this paper, an interrogator of FBG sensors is developed and implemented to measure the status of structures. A developed interrogator includes CAN wired and Zigbee wireless communication for remote monitoring. Strain of structure is measured using shift of wavelength of reflected light from FBG sensor. A digital signal controller is used to process signals of a FBG sensor and transmit data for remote monitoring. As a result of experiment, developed interrogator is effective to measure deformation of structures.

As the scaling trend becomes accelerated in process technology for cost reduction in semiconductor chip manufacturing, the requirement for shrink technology has increased. Hot Carrier Injection (HCI) degradation for I/O transistors is most concerning part when shrink. To solve this, the effective channel length (Leff) was increased using liner oxide before Light Doped Drain (LDD) implants and optimized the tilt angle to increase Leff without E-field degradation in LDD region, satisfying the HCI specification.
Extraction of Extrinsic Circuit Parameters of HEMT by Minimizing Residual Errors

This study presents a technique for extracting all the extrinsic parameters of HEMTs by minimizing the residual errors between a pinch-off cold-FET's gate and drain pad de-embedded Z-parameters and its modeled Z-parameters calculated by the cold-FET's remaining parameters. The presented technique allows us to successfully extract the remaining extrinsic parameter values as well as the gate and drain pad capacitance value without the additional fabrications of the gate and drain dummy pad.
Evaluations of Three Phase Shift Models in Describing Phase Shift Impulse Train Response of a Simple Planar Oscillator

This study evaluates the modeling accuracy of the existing three phase shift models on which the time domain oscillator phase noise theories are based. For the evaluation, this study investigates how accurately the three models can model the phase shift impulse train response of a simple planar oscillator. Evaluation result reveals that Kaertner model most accurately reflects the oscillator's phase shift impulse train responses for five different impulse train inputs, whereas PP model exhibited the worst performance in modeling the phase shift impulse train responses.

On the Relationship of u-Security Service, Usefulness and Citizen Satisfaction

This paper aims to study on the relationship of u-Security service, usefulness and citizen satisfaction. Independence variable is u-Security service, a mediation parameter is usefulness, and dependent variable is citizen satisfaction. Using SPSS 18.0, a series of factor analysis, reliability analysis, multiple regression analysis and path analysis have been performed. The conclusion is as following. First, u-Security service affects usefulness. That is, as publicity safety, system quality, service quality increase, usefulness increases. Second, u-Security service affects citizen satisfaction. That is, as publicity safety, system quality, service quality increase, citizen satisfaction increases. Third, usefulness affects citizen satisfaction. That is, as economic usefulness and security usefulness increase, citizen satisfaction increases. Last, u-Security service has direct and indirect effect in usefulness and citizen satisfaction. That is, usefulness is an important variable that mediates u-Security service and citizen satisfaction.
Simulation Modeling of Profit Optimization and Output Analysis using R

Simulation is now using in various area as an effective decision analysis tool in complex environment of today. But, There is a focus to the simulation model development and execution better than result analysis. This article will emphasis to the importance of result analysis apart from model development in simulation, and will use R package for profit optimization simulation. R has a various function in statistic analysis and data manipulation, graphic display. So this research can show the value of R as a tool for simulation.
A Study on Hierarchical Communication Method for Energy Efficiency in Sensor Network Environment

With the development of wireless communication and sensor technology, sensor network applications in various fields have been applied. To minimize the power consumption of sensors in sensor network is one of the important factors in oder to extend the system life. The power consumption of each sensor within sensor network can be different depending on the communication method between head(sink) node and its node. In this paper, we propose a new hierarchical communication method to minimize the power consumption of each sensor. The proposed method divides the area of sensor network into four areas using divide-and-conquer method and selects the nearest node to head node in each area as a child node of the node. Next the hierarchical tree in the same way is constructed recursively until each area is no longer divided. Each sensor can communicate to head node using this hierarchical tree. The proposed results were compared with the previous methods through simulation, and showed excellent results in the energy efficiency of sensor network.
A Speed Control of BLDC Motor using Adaptive Back stepping Technique

In this paper, we propose a method that can be used to back-stepping controller design for speed control of Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motor. First, back-stepping controller is designed with load torque estimator. The estimator is included to adapt to the variation of load torque in real time. Finally, the proposed controller is tested through experiment with a 120W BLDC motor for the angular velocity reference tracking performance and load torque volatility estimation. The simulation result verifies the performance of the proposed controller.
A heuristic path planning method for robot working in an indoor environment

A heuristic search algorithm is proposed to plan a collision free path for robots in an indoor environment. The proposed algorithm is to find a collision free path in the gridded configuration space by proposed heuristic graph search algorithm. The proposed algorithm largely consists of two parts : tunnel searching and path searching in the tunnel. The tunnel searching algorithm finds a thicker path from start grid to goal grid in grid configuration space. The tunnel is constructed with large grid defined as a connected several minimum size grids in grid-based configuration space. The path searching algorithm then searches a path in the tunnel with minimum grids. The computational time of the proposed algorithm is less than the other graph search algorithm and we analysis the time complexity. To show the validity of the proposed algorithm, some numerical examples are illustrated for robot.
Required Specification Analysis of Radio over Fiber system for LTE-Advanced Fronthaul link

Since smart phones are widely used globally, the demand for high-speed mobile communications are increasing. To accommodate the increased communication demand, the next-generation mobile communication services such as LTE-Advanced are deployed. In the LTE-Advanced base stations, the base station schemes of Digital Unit (DU) and Radio Unit (RU) are widely used. Here, the link between DU and RU is called fronthaul link. In the current fronthaul link, a digital optical communication interface is used, which is called Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI). However, the CPRI link cannot support the increased mobile traffic efficiently. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate an alternative technology based on the Radio over Fiber (RoF) to accommodate the increased mobile traffic economically.
A Study on Inset Fed Microstrip Antenna Loaded with Complementary Single Loop Resonator

In this paper, the characteristics of inset fed microstrip antenna loaded with CSLR(complementary single loop resonator) are studied. Effective permeability parameters of the SLR unit cell is retrieved from simulated scattering parameters, and structure parameters of the SLR unit cell are selected so that effective permeability is negative value at the operating frequency. The optimized inset fed microstrip antenna loaded with SLR for a
array in the ground plane of a conventional patch antenna is designed and simulation results of return loss and radiation pattern are shown. At resonant frequency 2.82 GHz, the overall dimension of the proposed antenna is reduced by approximately 56.8% compared to the conventional inset fed antenna. Simulation results are obtained by 3D FEM solver(Ansoft's HFSS).
A Study on DGPS Framework and Performance Evaluation for High-Accurate Localization based on GPS/AGPS

A number of crime and disease relief situation show a clear increasing trend in domestic and overseas country. In particular, we desperately need a fast location information sharing with high accuracy for dealing with this situation efficiently. In this paper, we propose a DGPS framework and performance evaluation based on Web service enable increase location accuracy using low-cost GPS or AGPS. The framework consists of mobile station to realize the final service by receiving the correction values that are created in the base station closest to the current position from DGPS server, base station system to transmit the correct values to DPGS server by installing at base point and DGPS framework working at DGPS server. Our framework is fundamentally designed to respond based on XML to service request. In addition, for performance evaluation, we make use of 3 sites of Level 2 city base-station among the base stations being operated in Suncheon-si. Through performance evaluation, we show that our framework outperforms about 10%~15% in terms of error improvement rate, compared with the existing schemes. And we have the advantage that various services can be expanded owing to receiving the correction values through mobile device such as, smart phone, smart pad, net-book by using XML based Web services.
Automatic Frequency Conversion Algorithm for Vehicle Radio

Traffic accidents caused by the attention dispersion are increasing and the behavior of the attention dispersion affects the front-observing rate, road keeping ability, and reaction time for a dangerous situation. Many drivers listen to a radio broadcast and they have to change the frequency for continuously listening a radio broadcast of the specific broadcasting station in case of crossing a boundary of the particular area. In this situation, the possibility of a car accident increases, because the attention dispersion of a driver might be occurred. Especially, the risk of a car accident caused by changing the frequency of a radio is more serious in the highway, due to the high speed of a vehicle. In order to reduce the risk of a car accident caused by handling a radio during driving car, in this paper, we propose an automatic frequency conversion algorithm for vehicle radio, which saves normal system frequencies of primary broadcasting stations in a database and determines new frequency of the changed area using the location information obtained from a navigation system in a boundary of the specific area. After determining new frequency, the proposed algorithm selects a frequency with better receiving rate comparing signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) of two signals corresponding previous and new frequencies.
A Study on Brand Personality Image, Shopping Value, Customer Satisfaction and Recommendation Intention in the IT Environment

This study attempts to explore the connectivity among brand personality, shopping value, customer satisfaction and recommendation intention by deriving brand personality image factors of online shopping malls. The analysis results are as follows. First, the brand personality of shopping malls were derived as 'vital', 'familiar', 'credible', 'competent', and 'sophisticated.' Second, shopping value was derived as hedonistic and practical shopping values. Third, it was shown that brand personality of shopping malls has significant impacts on shopping value. In addition, customers' shopping value, customer satisfaction and recommendation intention have significant impacts on each other. It is expected that this study can provide basic information for constructing differentiated marketing strategies in the domestic online shopping malls whose competition is heating up.
A Study on the global trend of international collaborations in the field of Computer Science and collaboration strategies for Korea

The more importance of international collaboration has increased, the more studies on statues of international collaboration are increasing. However, few studies have attempted to identify the international collaboration. This article aims at a multidirectional characterization of the international collaboration in the field of Computer Science by analysis of articles published in the SCOPUS database. We applied Probabilistic Affinity Index(PAI) and Indicator of Collaboration Strength(ICS) for measuring the intensity of scientific collaboration among countries, and index of Incremental Citation Impact(ICI) for measuring the quality of international collaboration. These analyses identify the trends of international collaboration in the field of Computer Science and it's effect by nation.
