직교화와 SVD를 도입한 광학설계의 최적화기법에 대한 연구
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 363~372
An optimization technique with variable orthogonalization and SVD(singular value decomposition) is examined in a double-Gauss type photographic lens design and its convergence and stability are compared with ordinary least squares and DLS(damped least squares) method. It is known that there are close relationship between the stability of optimization and condition number of nomal equation, the ratio between maximum and minimum of eigenvalues. In this study, the stability is greatly improved by limiting the condition number, the SVD, as expeded. The case of DLS with small damping, orthogonalization and SVD shows the most rapid convergence and stability. It means that the unstability of DLS method with small damping is overcome by using the variable orthogonalization and SVD.
Five Mirror System Derived From the Numerical Solutions of all Zero 3rd Order Aberrations and Zero 5th Order Spherical Aberration for DUV Optical Lithography
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 373~380
A five mirror system with a reduction magnification(M=+1/5) is designed for DUV optical lithography. Initially, numerical solutions of all zero 3rd order aberrations and zero 5th order spherical aberration are obtained for the spherical mirror system. Next, by the optimization method, the aspherization is carried out to the two spherical mirrors to obtain a system that has as less residual aberrations, higher NA and improved MTF as possible. We have finally obtained the system of which NA is 0.45 and the resolution is about 500 cycles/mm at the 50% MTF value criterion and the depth of focus of
for the nearly incoherent illumination
and the wavelength of 0.248 m(KrF excimer laser line).
Development of Numerical Calculation Software for OTF from Lens Design Data
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 381~389
A software to calculate diffraction OTF from lens design data was developed and its accuracy was verified. To verify the accuracy, MTF of a standard lens system for OTF measurement were calculated. The results were compared with calculated values by another commercial software and measured values. We found that they have good agreements with one another.
Analysis of Fourier-transform Holographic Kinoforms Using Exact Ray Tracing
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 390~396
When a one-dimensional telecentric paraxial holographic kinoform is used as a Fourier transform lens, we analyzed three surface-relief structures, i.e., plano-convex, convex-plano and biconvex shapes, employing exact raytracing method based on Snell's law. For the kinoform of E/8 and focal length of 15 mm, the number of zones, the thickness, and the slope of parabolic surfaces are varied by changing the refractive indicies of kinoform material and surrounding medium. It is found that biconvex shape gives the best results in general, although off-axis performance degrades in all cases as the slope of parabolic surfaces increases.
A New Algorithm for Determination of Reference Phases in Phase-Shifting Interferometry
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 397~402
This paper presents a new computational algorithm of phase-shifting interferometry which can effectively eliminate the uncertainty errors of the reference phases encountered in obtaining multiple interferograms. The algorithm treats the reference phases as additional unknowns and determines their exact values by analyzing interferograms using numerical least square technique. A series of simulations prove that this algorithm can improve measuring accuracy being unaffected by the nonlinear and random errors of phase-shifters.
광 Disc에서 Bump(pit)의 형태가 재생신호에 미치는 영향
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 403~410
The scalar diffraction theory of the read-out signal in optical disc is described. and numerical results is given. The strength of this signal depends on the shape of bump(pit) which show more or less rounding of the edge because of the photoresist process. It is shown that the ideal shape is the retangular form, with no rounding of edge. This form is not achievable in practise. but the results show that very satisfactory values of the read-out signal can nevertheless be achieved in the presence of the moderate amounts of rounding.unding.

Dielectric Thin Film Mirror Embedded Optical Fiber Couplers
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 420~427
Dielectric thin film mirrors are embedded in multimode and single-mode fibers by a fusion splicing technique. The fibers with
angled embedded mirrors serve as ultra-compact directional couplers with low excess optical loss of 0.2 dB for multimode and 0.5 dB for single mode at 1.3
and excellent mechanical properties. The reflectance is wavelength dependent and strongly polarization depencient. Far-field scans of the reflected output power measured with a white-light source show a pattern which is almost circularly symmetric with aspect ratio of 1.09 at 5% of the peak power. The splitting ratio in a multimode coupler measured with a diode laser source is much less dependent on input coupling conditions than in conventional fused biconical-taper couplers, indicating that these couplers are less susceptible to modal noise occuring in optical fiber communication systems. Spectral properties of multilayer internal mirrors normal to the fiber axis have been investigated experimentally, and a matrix analysis has been used to explain the results.
Measurement through Self-focusing with Non-gaussian Beam
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 428~433
The second harmonic of Q-switched Nd:YAG laser beam with gaussian mode is cut off by pinhole of a certain radius and its central portion passed through pinhole is focused by converging lens. It is confirmed that the shape of this beam in focal region is central symmetric but non-gaussian. Change of transmittance due to self-focusing is investigated by scanning (z-scan)
of 1 mm thickness in the focal region. It is found that the observed results can be consistently explained by Fresnel theory within 1.5% accuracy and efficiency of self-focusing depends on spatial shape of incident beam.
Focusing Geometry Dependence of Single Pass Raman Shifer
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 434~441
Focusing geometry dependence of output Stokes energy in single pass methane Raman shifter is investigated. The experimental result shows that the threshold energy decreases as confocal parameter increases. This result can be explained by gain suppression caused by Stokes - anti-Stokes coupling. In this paper, we give simple analysis for the focusing geometry dependence of Stokes - anti-Stokes coupling and present the criterion of confocal parameter to reduce the gain suppression. Focusing geometry dependence of stimulated Brillouin scattering is measured and the result is in good agreement with theoretical prediction.
The Output Characteristics of Flashlamp Pumped Ti:sapphire Laser Enhanced by Energy Transfer Dye
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 442~446
A flashlamp pumped Ti: sapphire laser was designed and fabricated in the laboratory. In order to find out the optimum pumping condition, three kinds of discharge circuits of which the pulse width are 10
were designed. The fluorescent energy converter LD-490 of which the fluorescence spectra is coincident to the absorption band of Ti: sapphire was used to improve the laser efficiency. The laser output characteristics for three different concentrations of LD-490 and for three different pumping pulse widths were measured. As a result, the shorter the flashlamp pulse width, the higher the overall efficiency was achieved. When pumping light pulsewidth was 10
, the best efficiency was obtained at the concentration 1.0
mol/l of LD-490 dye. At lower concentrations the efficiencies were decreased.
Pulse Stretching Effect in XeCl Excimer Laser
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 447~451
Long pulse XeCl excimer laser with 150 ns (FWHM) pulse duration is developed using a simple capacitor-charge transfer circuit. We measured the laser pulse width varying the gas mixture ratio and capacitance ratio, which dominantly affect the pulse width. In this way we can easily stretch the pulse width from short pulse to long pulse. The pulse width was stretched by 120 ns as the partial pressure of HC1 and Xe gas was reduced under constant gas mixture ratio ([Xe]/[HCl]= 15), and by varying the capacitance ratio (Cm/Cp) under fixed pressure, the pulse width was stretched by 60 ns.
Absolute Measurement of the Quantum Efficiency of Photodetectors Using Correlated Photon Pairs
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 452~456
The quantum efficiencies of photomultiplier tubes were measured by counting the coincidence photon pairs generated in the process of spontaneous parametric down-conversion. They were measured within 3% accuracy over the range of wavelength from 560 to 850 nm without any standard light source or detector. The values for 633 nm correspond to those obtained with a calibrated laser power meter within the measurement error.
CARS에서 배경신호의 제거에 의한 분광선회복
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 457~463
We investigated that the CARS signals generated from resonant or nonresonant contributions can be selectively suppressed by phase-controlled nonlinear interferometry. To control the phase of the CARS signal over a broad spectral range, a home-made phase shifting unit was used, whose thickness was automatically controlled as the wavelength of Stokes beam scaned. Using this technique, we recovered the Q-branch resonance lines of carbon monoxide and HC1 which had been distorted and buried by the nonresonant and resonant signal of propane respectively. All the spectrum measured have been normalized by reference signal which had no resonance lines over the spectral range of interest.
Self-Organized Dynamics of Photoinduced Phase Grating formation in Optical Fibers
Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 464~473
The dynamics of phase grating formation with visible light in an optical fiber is investigated. Adopting a simple two-photon local bleaching model, it is shown that the grating self-organize into an ideal grating, where the writing frequency is always in the center of the local band gap, as it evolves. The evolution at each point in the fiber is described in terms of a universal parameter that reduces the coupled partial differential equations describing the system to ordinary differential equatior~s. These equations are used to prove that there exists a fixed point of the grating growth process that corresponds to a perfectly phase-mached grating.

Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 474~479
An interferometric fiber-optic magnetic field sensor is constructed by bonding a Co-Fe-B metallic glass transducer developed here by the melt-spun method to a single mode fiber arm in the fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer and is tested. The bias field for the peak ac-sensitivity was observed near 0.97 Oe and the minimum detectable magnetic field was 3.9

Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics, volume 4, issue 4, 1993, Pages 480~486
We propose and demanstrate a fiber laser as a sensor, whose output is the frequency of beat signals between eigenpolarization modes of the fiber laser. For the measurement of lateral stress, proportional constant of 4.8 kHz/gram is obtained with a good linearity. For the measurements of temperature and longitudinal strain applied to the polarization maintaining fiber laser, proportional constants of 30 kHz/

, respectively, are obtained.
