Context Information and Active Proxy for Mobile GIS Web Service

Recently the computing environment has been moved to open architectures that include Web technologies. Web Service is one of import component of the new paradigm. This paper presents a design and implementation of GIS Web Service for mobile devices. As many mobile devices are equipped with GPS (Global Positioning System), it is required to handle the position information more effectively. We have extended the proxy program in the client device to actively send the context information to the server. Based on the context information the server determines the optimal service mode to a particular client. A working example of location?based GIS Web Service is also presented. By using Web Service standards and XML messages we can achieve the maximal interoperability for heterogeneous mobile devices.
Improving ebXML BPSS based on UML 2.0

In ebXML the choreography of a business process should be modeled by UMM and is finally realized in BPSS. The current UMM and BPSS are developed based on UML 1.4. Recently OMG introduces the UML 2.0, which strengthens the modeling power of activity diagrams and components. If we adopt UML 2.0, the modeling power of UMM is improved but BPSS cannot implement the modeling features. In this paper, we examine the new features of the activity diagram in UML 2.0. We also propose ways to improve the UMM and the BPSS using the new features.
A Case Study on Work Breakdown Structure(WBS) in Constructing the integrated computing environment of the e-Government

Over the past decades, there have been numerous studies for approaches to build and operate electronic government systems. Among those studies, work breakdown structure(WBS) has been gained attention increasingly. As a general system engineering techniques. WBS is a kind of methods to engineer and manage electronic government systems effectively. WBS is to organizes tasks and data items for management and engineering for electronic government systems. In this paper, the authors proposed a conceptual WBS model for management and engineering electronic government systems. Also, the authors conducted a case study based on the conceptual WBS model. The results of this study provide useful insights and guidelines for applying the WBS to management and engineering for electronic government systems. The authors believed that the conceptual WBS models will be widely used to management and engineering an electronic government systems.
A Study on the Improvements of Qualification Items for Electronic Commerce Manager

This research purpose to improve the qualification items for electronic commerce manager. Former qualification system for the electronic commerce manager was executed 11 times from year 2000 to 2005. To improve the standard for test questions and contents of qualification items, we reviewed literatures about job analysis for electronic commerce manager, electronic commerce curriculum, e-Business market and other countries' similar qualification systems and items. We also analysed the job related knowledge, skill, and abilities using job analysis by DACUM method, subject matter experts interview and workshop committee for development and validation of qualification items. Based on the results of job analysis and DACUM workshop, we derived a job model for electronic commerce manager and then validated it through field survey and additional expert review. Finally we developed and suggested an alternated qualification items using matrix analysis between categorized job knowledge and job tasks.
Service-Oriented Development Process for SOA

Recently, Service-Oriented Architecture(SOA) is on the rise to reduce the complexity of IT infrastructure, minimize cost for maintaining it and maximize the productivity and flexibility in business. SOA increases the adaptability by loosely coupling and it's main feature is that three elements such as service provider, service requester and service registry are connected with each other systematically. These make difficult to adopt traditional development methodologies to implement SOA. In this paper, we suggest a service-oriented development process with regard to the aspect of service provider and service requester. The process consists of six phases and each phase sets up with guidelines and artifacts. It can choose the process type along with the goal in Development Planning.
A study on RFID code system for Traceability of agro-livestock products

The agro-livestock industry is composed of a complicated supply chain and the customer‘s interest in safety of agro-livestock products is increasing. In order to provide customer with the accurate information about the history of product, and make good use of these information, traceability systems based on RFID technology were implemented and are planned. It is, however, difficult to make the efficient flow of information and to enhance or expand the traceability system because of the lack of the standard of RFID code system. To overcome this problem, we propose a RFID code system for the traceability of argo-livestock products on the basis of ISO/IEC 15459 KKR code system.
Context-based Web Application Design

Developing and managing Web applications are more complex than ever because of their growing functionalities, advancing Web technologies, increasing demands for integration with legacy applications, and changing content and structure. All these factors call for a more inclusive and comprehensive Web application design method. In response, we propose a context-based Web application design methodology that is based on several classification schemes including a Webpage classification, which is useful for identifying the information delivery mechanism and its relevant Web technology; a link classification, which reflects the semantics of various associations between pages; and a software component classification, which is helpful for pinpointing the roles of various components in the course of design. The proposed methodology also incorporates a unique Web application model comprised of a set of information clusters called compendia, each of which consists of a theme, its contextual pages, links, and components. This view is useful for modular design as well as for management of ever-changing content and structure of a Web application. The proposed methodology brings together all the three classification schemes and the Web application model to arrive at a set of both semantically cohesive and syntactically loose-coupled design artifacts.
ITSM Appliance for Managing SOA Service Level

As a system integration framework, the role of SOA(Service Oriented Architecture) is widening and increasing day by day. The SOA framework enables software applications or computing resources to integrate flexibly and to provide more various business models. But, it is strongly required of SOA service level management for applying SOA in real business world. In this respect, we need a study on method for managing SOA system for keeping higher quality of SOA. This paper provides a new management method for SOA service level by analyzing quality factors in Web services, as SOA implementation, and negotiation/contract according to SLA methodology.
A Study on the Multidimensional Service Scenario Evaluation Methodology for ITSM Considering Ubiquitous Computing Technology

Currently, Ubiquitous Computing Technology(UCT)-based service scenarios play an important role in estimating the potential of UCT-based service. The purpose of the study is to propose a multidimensional evaluation(ME) methodology for UCT-based service scenarios regarding their possibilities of realization for the future. Our approach contributes to extend service level management in Information Technology Service Management(ITSM) by evaluating the level of a new service in advance. ME consists of three dimensions: technological evaluations, business-oriented evaluations, and user-oriented evaluations. The three types of evaluations are mutually harmonized to check the overall possibility of realization and validity for certain UCT-based service scenarios. Theoretically, ME is developed to overcome the extant evaluation methods for UCT-based service scenarios, which are limited in the number of evaluation criterions. It is also conceived to cope with the limitation of economical evaluation methods (e.g., technological valuation, estimation of financial outcomes such as ROI, ROA, etc. that are difficult to give meaningful results because most of UCT-based services are not fully realized so far. From the practical perspectives, in addition, our approach can be applied to a variety of scenarios due to its domain-independent approach.
Metadata Schema Design for Integrated Registry of B2B Business Processes

B2B registries provide spaces to register and retrieve information which is necessary to support B2B transactions among business partners or potential business partners. Business process specifications are one of important contents in B2B registries, and there is high complexity of representation due to complex and dynamic characteristics of business processes. Also, currently there exist several competing specification frameworks such as ebXML BPSS, WSBPEL, BPMN, and so on. This paper proposes a metadata schema to register business process specifications which are represented by different specification frameworks. The proposed schema has extensibility to register business process specifications which are represented by various different specification frameworks. Also, it extends reuse level from whole business specification processes to their components. To show the usefulness of the proposed schema, this paper demonstrates metadata extraction from business process specifications which are represented by two representative XML-based business process specification languages, ebXML BPSS and WSBPEL.
Business Activity Monitoring Using Process-based Event Analysis

Based on a complex event processing technique, an event analysis method for Business Activity Monitoring(BAM) is developed to provide an early warning for on-going events so that process managers effectively detect and monitor potential risks prior to the completion of the events. In this study, process-based event monitoring procedures to extract events with significant risks are presented; Complex event patterns are defined from historical event log data and risks of events are evaluated based on the patterns. A process-based event monitoring architecture for BAM is also presented. The proposed method has been applied to a service process of a home shopping company.
Evolving Direction of BPM for SOA-based e-Business Enhancement

In order for companies to survive rapidly changing business environment, it is expected that the activities in an enterprise must be reorganized around business processes; the information infrastructures are based on Web Services; and information systems are re-built around the BPMS (Business Process Management System). In this research we suggest major directions of e-business enhancement especially based on SOA(Service Oriented Architecture). Then we investigate the correlation between BPM functionalities and e-business technologies, and suggest priorities among the evolving directions of BPM functionalities via an intensive expert survey. The results of this study can be used by BPM solution vendors, prospective buyers and IT policy makers.
Development of a Strategy and Guideline for Adopting Business Process Management Standards

A variety of BPM (Business Process Management) standards to achieve interoperability among heterogeneous systems have been released. Areas of BPM standards include business process modeling, process execution and management, and monitoring and controlling. The purpose of this research is to develop an adoption strategy and guideline for implementing BPM standards. We suggest a strategy for implementing BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation), BPEL (Business Process Execution Language), and BPQL (Business Process Query Language) and provide a specific implementation guideline for developing BPM solutions using each standard. We expect that BPM vendors can establish their own strategy for adopting BPM standards and implement BPM solutions efficiently and effectively with the help of the strategy and guideline described in this paper.
Issues of Applying Intelligent RSS Framework to Electronic Commerce

RSS is a core component of Web 2.0 which is expected to lead the most important innovation in the new IT environment. In that sense, it is actively utilized to distribute Web contents in various areas such as news, blog, multimedia, medical information, and conference and journal information. Also, it is expected to be a major effective marketing tool in electronic commerce domain. In the paper, we analyzed the problems of current utilization of RSS in domestic shopping malls, and suggest requirements for the effective use of RSS in electronic commerce. Furthermore, we proposed various issues and answers on the implementation of the requirements, and designed the intelligent RSS framework for electronic commerce based on the issues. Syntactic and semantic interoperability between the RSS service provider and the user is one of the most important issues in the framework. We suggested how to implement the interoperability based on Semantic Web technologies.
A study on Development of RDF Triple Storage System for Retrieval of Metadata in the Semantic Web

The Resource Description Framework(RDF) utilized for the representation and storage of information in various application, plays an important role in the Semantic Web, the next generation web. A number of RDF systems have been implemented for retrieval of RDF metadata. However, they do not provide the sufficient performance for the querying function of practical application system. In this paper we describe the design and implementation of RDF system, SMARTTriple, which has a RDF storage structures using index map and provides the better performance than the previous systems. We present a performance comparison results with the well-known RDF systems. SMARTTriple will be a great contribution to the research and development of Semantic Web application.
