Efficient Management of Statistical Information of Keywords on E-Catalogs
Lee, Dong-Joo ; Hwang, In-Beom ; Lee, Sang-Goo ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 1~17
E-Catalogs which describe products or services are one of the most important data for the electronic commerce. E-Catalogs are created, updated, and removed in order to keep up-to-date information in e-Catalog database. However, when the number of catalogs increases, information integrity is violated by the several reasons like catalog duplication and abnormal classification. Catalog search, duplication checking, and automatic classification are important functions to utilize e-Catalogs and keep the integrity of e-Catalog database. To implement these functions, probabilistic models that use statistics of index words extracted from e-Catalogs had been suggested and the feasibility of the methods had been shown in several papers. However, even though these functions are used together in the e-Catalog management system, there has not been enough consideration about how to share common data used for each function and how to effectively manage statistics of index words. In this paper, we suggest a method to implement these three functions by using simple SQL supported by relational database management system. In addition, we use materialized views to reduce the load for implementing an application that manages statistics of index words. This brings the efficiency of managing statistics of index words by putting database management systems optimize statistics updating. We showed that our method is feasible to implement three functions and effective to manage statistics of index words with empirical evaluation.
A Sentiment Analysis Algorithm for Automatic Product Reviews Classification in On-Line Shopping Mall
Chang, Jae-Young ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 19~33
With the continuously increasing volume of e-commerce transactions, it is now popular to buy some products and to evaluate them on the World Wide Web. The product reviews are very useful to customers because they can make better decisions based on the indirect experiences obtainable through the reviews. Product Reviews are results expressing customer's sentiments and thus are divided into positive reviews and negative ones. However, as the number of reviews in on-line shopping increases, it is inefficient or sometimes impossible for users to read all the relevant review documents. In this paper, we present a sentiment analysis algorithm for automatically classifying subjective opinions of customer's reviews using opinion mining technology. The proposed algorithm is to focus on product reviews of on-line shopping, and provides summarized results from large product review data by determining whether they are positive or negative. Additionally, this paper introduces an automatic review analysis system implemented based on the proposed algorithm, and also present the experiment results for verifying the efficiency of the algorithm.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 35~45
Domestic ASP (Application Service Provider) market has been dramatically enlarged under government supports for last 10 years. However ASP industry recently has been troubled for poor performance and market saturation. In this paper, firstly I derive core service groups through using BCG matrix for ASP market size and growth rate and secondly generate major critical success factors using focused group interview for selected core service groups. Finally I would like to propose a direction of ASP industry revitalization based on above critical success factors and transition strategy to SaaS (Software as a Service).
Collaborative Tag-Based Recommendation Methods Using the Principle of Latent Factor Models
Kim, Hyoung-Do ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 47~57
Collaborative tagging systems allow users to attach tags to diverse sharable contents in social networks. These tags provide usefulness in reusing the contents for all community members as well as their creators. Three-dimensional data composed of users, items, and tags are used in the collaborative tag-based recommendation. They are generally more voluminous and sparse than two-dimensional data composed of users and items. Therefore, there are many difficulties in applying existing collaborative filtering methods directly to them. Latent factor models, which are also successful in the area of collaborative filtering recently, discover latent features(factors) for explaining observed values and solve problems based on the features. However, establishing the models require much time and efforts. In order to apply the latent factor models to three-dimensional collaborative filtering data, we have to overcome the difficulty of establishing them. This paper proposes various methods for determining preferences of users to items via establishing an intuitive model by assuming tags used for items as latent factors to users and items respectively. They are compared using real data for concluding desirable directions.
Keyword Extraction from News Corpus using Modified TF-IDF
Lee, Sung-Jick ; Kim, Han-Joon ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 59~73
Keyword extraction is an important and essential technique for text mining applications such as information retrieval, text categorization, summarization and topic detection. A set of keywords extracted from a large-scale electronic document data are used for significant features for text mining algorithms and they contribute to improve the performance of document browsing, topic detection, and automated text classification. This paper presents a keyword extraction technique that can be used to detect topics for each news domain from a large document collection of internet news portal sites. Basically, we have used six variants of traditional TF-IDF weighting model. On top of the TF-IDF model, we propose a word filtering technique called 'cross-domain comparison filtering'. To prove effectiveness of our method, we have analyzed usefulness of keywords extracted from Korean news articles and have presented changes of the keywords over time of each news domain.
Techniques of XML Fragment Stream Organization for Efficient XML Query Processing in Mobile Clients
Ryu, Jeong-Hoon ; Kang, Hyun-Chul ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 75~94
Since XML emerged as a standard for data exchange on the web, it has been established as a core component in e-Commerce and efficient query processing over XML data in ubiquitous computing environment has been also receiving much attention. Recently, the techniques were proposed whereby an XML document is fragmented into XML fragments to be streamed and the mobile clients receive the stream while processing queries over it. In processing queries over an XML fragment stream, the average access time significantly depends on the order of fragments in the stream. As such, for query performance, an efficient organization of XML fragment stream is required as well as the indexing for energy-efficient query processing due to the reduction of tuning time. In this paper, a technique of XML fragment stream organization based on query frequencies, fragment size, fragment access frequencies, and an active XML-based indexing scheme are proposed. Through implementation and performance experiments, our techniques were shown to be efficient compared with the conventional XML fragment stream organizations.
Operation Strategy in Online Knowledge Sharing Community
Lee, Kook-Yong ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 95~118
Virtual community, which is formed on the internet, is expected to serve the needs of members for communication, information, and knowledge sharing. The executives of organizations should consider operating strategy of virtual community as a new innovation or knowledge pool since members share knowledge. However, many virtual community have failed due to members' low willingness to engage and furthermore to share knowledge with other members. Thus, there is a need to understand and foster the determinants of members' loyalty in virtual community. The objective of this study is to develop an integrated model designed to investigate and explain the relationships between contextual factors, personal perceptions of virtual community, usefulness, ease of use, familiarity, members' trust, reputation, community trust, attitude, satisfaction and loyalty. Empirical data was collected from 286 internet users and tested using structural equation modeling to verify the fit of the hypothetical model. The results show that the usefulness, familiarity significantly influences attitude and members' trust is significantly influence the community trust. And I confirmed that ease of use and attitude play the role of determinants in making the satisfaction, community trust and reputation influence the satisfaction that have the direct effect to making the loyalty. The results of the study can be used to identify the loyalty in virtual community. By investigating the impacts of contextual factors and personal perceptions on virtual community, the integrated model better explains behavior than other proposed models. This study might help executives of virtual communities and organizations to manage and promote community trust, attitude, satisfaction to stimulate members' willingness to revisit the community and futhermore enhance their virtual community loyalty.
T-Tree Index Structures Utilizing Prefetch Methods
Lee, Ig-Hoon ; Shim, Jun-Ho ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 119~131
During a decade, e-Commerce environments supporting real-time transaction processing have been getting larger. In telecommunication and financial environments, research and building for main memory database systems have been doing to support real-time transaction processing. A research on indexing for fast transaction support focuses on reducing cache misses or reducing memory access latency when cache misses happen. In the paper, we propose a prefetch method for tree index structures to reduce memory access latency. We present a prefetch-efficient pCST-tree and show superiority of the proposed tree by experiments.
A Dynamic Pricing Negotiation Model in the Online Ticket Resale Market
Cho, Jae-Hyung ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 133~148
This study has tried to suggest a new model that can effectively redistribute the tickets in the online ticket resale market, while suggesting a new allocation mechanism based on an agent negotiation. To this end, this study has analyzed an auction in the online ticket resale market through Game theory. As a result of new agent mechanism, it has been proved that the price stability of ticket resale market leads to an increase. An agent negotiation helps to stabilize the ticket prices that are usually inclined to rise at auction, benefiting all the participants in the negotiations, consequently showing a Pareto solution. Especially, a framework for a negotiation process is suggested and domain and processes ontology are designed interrelatedly. With this modeling, a possibility of Ontology based agent negotiation is suggested.

Kang, Pil-Seck ; Ahn, Chul-Bum ; Suh, Bo-Won ; Nah, Yun-Mook ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 149~166
With the rapid development of Web Service technology, the number of Web Service providers which provide same Web Services are increasing. As a result, the QoS elements become more and more important factors for Web Service matchmaking. But, most of previous research efforts do not consider various QoS elements including Service-specific QoS elements during the matchmaking process. In this paper, we propose a Web Service matchmaking scheme which allow dynamic QoS adaptation using the RSS technique. We first classify various QoS elements and describe an extensible QoS model. We then explain a matchmaking scheme, which can utilize the proposed QoS elements. We also show how to dynamically add user-specific QoS elements using the RSS mechanism, thus improving the correctness of web service matchmaking process. Finally, we implemented the proposed schemes and showed the usefulness of our methods through some experiments.

Kim, Jae-Seung ; Mun, Hyeon-Jeong ; Woo, Tae-Yong ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 167~179
This paper introduces techniques to recommend standardized tags using tag ontology. Tag recommendation consists of TWCIDF and TWCITC; the former technique automatically tags a large quantity of already existing document groups, and the latter recommends tagging for new documents. Tag groups are created through several processes, including preprocessing, standardization using tag ontology, automatic tagging and defining ranks for recommendation. In the preprocessing process, in order to search semantic compound nouns, words are combined to establish basic word groups. In the standardization process, typographical errors and similar words are processed. As a result of experiments conducted on the basis of techniques presented in this paper, it is proved that real-time automatic tagging and tag recommendation is possible while guaranteeing the accuracy of tag recommendation.

Cha, Seung-Jun ; Choi, Yun-Jeong ; Lee, Kyu-Chul ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 181~193
According to the development of web sites' technologies, public institutions use web sites to carry out their business and also to utilize as pathway between government and the people also. Public web records means the result of business process over web sites in public institutions. Although there is much valuable information, it is vanished away easily because there is not yet proper methods and tools for preservation. The purpose of this paper is to design the metadata elements required when archiving deep web records, which is a kind of web records. For that, we first analyze oversea's related researches to define what public deep web records is. Then we define metadata elements about that and also explain the relationship on archival information package in Korea and dublin core metadata to support interoperability for them. The defined metadata can be used for the basis technologies in archiving domestic public web records.

Park, Sang-Un ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 195~214
Semantic web portal is expected to overcome the shortcomings of the current web portals through advanced semantic web technologies and to be an effective and efficient method of knowledge sharing. In order to contribute to the knowledge sharing, semantic web portal needs to construct and integrate ontologies of each organization. Also, it needs to support search and navigation of inter-related knowledge. In this paper, we will design a semantic web portal that satisfies such requirements in the domain of display industry, and construct an ontology which links various knowledge of different fields. Moreover, we want to suggest an effective and automatic search/navigation method that supports customers who do not know the details of an ontology to easily get the desired results.

Ha, Eun-Ok ; Kim, Yoon-Ho ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 215~228
UCI(Universal Content Identifier), a digital content identifier is a identification system based on URN(Uniform Resource Name) for the transparent distribution, efficient search and management of digital contents. Digital contents given a UCI number need metadata for serving a exact contents that users need. However, the only metadata provided by UCI are deficient to represent various information of digital contents, and ontologies which could standardize and define explicitly semantic relations between metadata (provided by UCI) are needed for better representation of information and efficient search and management of digital contents. In this paper, we extended concept-relation between metadata with ontology and designed domain ontology enabling semantic-based search by expanding UCI meta data, and showed the more efficient search and management over the metadata by UCI through various queries.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 229~253
The effect of knowledge sharing and its importance have been reported in the information systems literature. However, little has been learned about the impact of knowledgeexchange web sites. This study explores relationships between individual characteristics such as personal innovativeness in the domain of information technology (PIIT), computer selfefficacy (CSE), and computer anxiety (CA), user involvement (UI), and knowledge sharing in a knowledge.exchange website. In order to examine our research model, we adopted a survey research design based on the Structural Equation Modeling method. By analyzing 241 samples collected, we conclude that UI and CA are valuable to discuss in terms of their theoretical and practical implications. This study not only extends the research on personal innovativeness and knowledge sharing, but also suggests a need for focused research efforts to investigate real practices on knowledge sharing. This study initiates this kind of efforts to make a relevant tie between design of knowledge sharing applications and the success case in the commercial field to encourage users to share their knowledge.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 267~286
Most companies in automobile part industry need a SCM (Supply Chain Management) system under the cooperation with suppliers for assembling a automobile. Automobile part industry has a industry feature of hierarchical structure like 1st, 2nd, 3rd vendors. Recently, new cases to implement RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology appear in various areas required for integrated information system. Especially, supply chain environment in automobile part industry turns toward ubiquitous computing environment. Most companies in automobile part industry are interested in implementing RFID-based supply chain management system, which makes them shorten the business process, share the transaction information, and enhance the collaborative relationship between trading partners. This paper intends to implement RFID technology in the physical distribution area of automobile part industry such as warehousing, delivering, inventory management. The purpose of this paper is to improve the collaborative relationship of supply chain network using RFID applied to u-SCM system in ubiquitous computing environment. The contribution of this paper is to suggest a new system approach to transform existing business process into new business process through designing and implementing a RFID based SCM system using UML techniques.

Ock, Young-Seok ; Ahn, Chang-Won ; Kim, Min-Soo ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 287~297
Though the interest for the construction of ubiquitous city (u-City) has been increased in many researches, many of those efforts are still done somewhat separated ways such as from the perspective of architectural design of urban city or from the perspective of underlying ICT (Information and Communication Technology) implementation. Since there are various services and technical components involved in u-City implementation, those separated approaches can cause much troubles while implementing u-City. In addition to this, because u-City components are continually changing and expanding, to cope with this evolution, many researches about the infrastructure of u-City should be done in a systematic way while integrally considering various perspectives of u-City. In this research, by combining WBEM/CIM standards to GMA (Grid Monitoring Architecture), we could provide WBEM/CIM design that is usable for u-City implementation. In contrast to the conventional research that is still abstract, our study presents concrete and implementable u-City infrastructure model. We hope our result will be a valuable reference for the other u-City infrastructure-related researches.

Ahn, Kyeong-Rim ; Youn, Keun-Young ; Park, Chan-Kwon ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 299~313
As domestic logistics environment has changed into global logistics, various logistics parties are participating in processing logistics business. Goods is packed into container and delivered to consignee in steps. The goods may be damaged or lost since it has not directly delivered to consignee by single entity during the delivery process. Therefore, all parties want to know the flow of export/import cargos. However, it is very difficult to follow cargo flow consistently delivered from consignor to consignee. Because cargo flow does not be matched up information flow and information systems are based on neither standard business processes nor standard data, which makes it very difficult to associate logistics data among various logistic parties. This paper performs business process modeling for cargo tracking with international standard modeling methodology released by UN/CEFACT. And then, the standard data is defined for cargo tracking business process of unified and integrated business collaboration. The resulting business process model and data model will support international interoperability.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 14, issue 4, 2009, Pages 315~332
In logistic environments, a process, in that it manages the flow of materials among partners, involves more than one organization. In this regard, a logistic process, as a combined process consisting of multiple sub processes, needs to be managed with controling interaction among partners. In achieving systematic management of a logistic process, traditional Business Process Management (BPM) cannot be used for the entire flow, since it lacks the ability to manage interactions among partners. Particularly in logistic environments where RFID technologies are used, how to deal with the connection between RFID event and logistic flow has not been properly addressed. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes a new method of managing multi-organizational logistic processes based on RFID events. We define inter-workflow pattern, and suggest ECA(Event-Condition-Action) rules for auto triggering of logistic processes. To adjust the rules to RFID events, we invent RFID-based ECA rules using complex event. A prototype system has been developed for the purpose of demonstrating the effectiveness of our approach.
