Yim, Hyung-Jun ; Kim, Jae-Hoon ; Lee, Kyu-Chul ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 15, issue 4, 2010, Pages 1~19
Recently, it is necessary to process real time sensor data, which is generated from ubiquitous environments. Data, which are written by XML, are small, but, large volumes of data. Therefore, weneed to use an efficient method for processing a large amount of it. An XQuery has two types for sensor data: one is to get sensor identification and value from sensor data; the other is restructuring for user's convenience. Existing XQuery engines don't have efficient method for batch processing of sensor data. This paper proposed the twig query processing over reverse path summary, and we developed and applied restructuring batch processing method for real time processing of a large amount of sensor data. Finally, we do performance evaluation using XMark and RFID EPC data, and comparison analysis with MonetDB/XQuery and Berkeley DB XML.
A Mapping Table Caching Scheme for NAND Flash-based Mobile Storage Devices
Yang, Soo-Hyeon ; Ryu, Yeon-Seung ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 15, issue 4, 2010, Pages 21~31
Recently e-business such as online financial trade and online shopping using mobile computes are widely spread. Most of mobile computers use NAND flash memory-based storage devices for storing data. Flash memory storage devices use a software called flash translation layer to translate logical address from a file system to physical address of flash memory by using mapping tables. The legacy FTLs have a problem that they must maintain very large mapping tables in the RAM. In order to address this issues, in this paper, we proposed a new caching scheme of mapping tables. We showed through the trace-driven simulations that the proposed caching scheme reduces the space overhead dramatically but does not increase the time overhead. In the case of online transaction workload in e-business environment, in particular, the proposed scheme manifests better performance in reducing the space overhead.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 15, issue 4, 2010, Pages 33~47
Web records is valuable information to preserve, because it can be used as a legal evidence about business or e-commerce of a public institution, but it is easily disappeared because of its volatile characteristic. Therefore, archival information package should be defined for long-term preservation. Web records can be stored in the archival information package for electronic records, because web records is a kind of electronic records. However, the NEO(NARS Encapsulation Object), the archival information package for electronic records in Korea, can't able to store web records, because it was developed without consideration of the characteristic of web records. In this paper, we define extended NEO based on the analysis of KoSurWeb and KoDeWeb, that archival information package for document of surface and deep web as well as the NEO. Web records can be preserved and utilized along with electronic records by using the extended NEO. Also it can be used for record and legal evudence by archiving web records of public institution about e-commerce.

Kim, Min-Jeong ; Shim, Jun-Ho ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 15, issue 4, 2010, Pages 49~58
The wireless sensor network technology becomes one of core technologies to make it possible to implement various e-business applications. Energy efficiency is an important issue in wireless sensor networks. IEEE 802.15.4, a representative international standard for wireless sensor networks, provides the beacon enabled mode for energy-efficient communication. However, the beacons may conflict each other when the network is of multi-hop topology such as mesh or cluster-tree topology with beacon-enabled mode. The beacon conflict causes the failure of synchronization between sensor nodes, and affects other nodes in the network in that unsynchronized nodes cannot participate in communication. In this paper, we suggest an energy-efficient beacon scheduling for the wireless sensor networks. Nodes can save their energy duringperiod and prevent beacon conflict using beacon scheduling. We implement the scheduling using QualNet, and evaluate the performance under mesh topology networks. It turns out that the proposed scheduling may improve the energy efficiency in the networks.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 15, issue 4, 2010, Pages 79~99
As data exchange between business partners in e-business becomes more active, obtaining and managing reliable data is emerging as a pressing issue for corporations and organizations. For the resolution of data quality, this paper proposes a framework for data quality management with its scenario. The data quality management framework consists of three phases: data quality monitoring, data quality improvement and data application, each of which has three processes. In each process, necessity, functions, roles, and relationships among processes are specified. In order for users to directly apply the framework to the business field, a business scenario is given with examples of product identification and classification code systems widely used in e-business.
Improving Flash Translation Layer for Hybrid Flash-Disk Storage through Sequential Pattern Mining based 2-Level Prefetching Technique
Chang, Jae-Young ; Yoon, Un-Keum ; Kim, Han-Joon ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 15, issue 4, 2010, Pages 101~121
This paper presents an intelligent prefetching technique that significantly improves performance of hybrid fash-disk storage, a combination of flash memory and hard disk. Since flash memory embedded in a hybrid device is much faster than hard disk in terms of I/O operations, it can be utilized as a 'cache' space to improve system performance. The basic strategy for prefetching is to utilize sequential pattern mining, with which we can extract the access patterns of objects from historical access sequences. We use two techniques for enhancing the performance of hybrid storage with prefetching. One of them is to modify a FAST algorithm for mapping the flash memory. The other is to extend the unit of prefetching to a block level as well as a file level for effectively utilizing flash memory space. For evaluating the proposed technique, we perform the experiments using the synthetic data and real UCC data, and prove the usability of our technique.

Yoon, Young-Sun ; Lee, Kook-Yong ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 15, issue 4, 2010, Pages 123~142
Generally speaking, user behavior in the post-adoption period is different from that in the pre-adoption period. Users come to make on their experiences of IT use whether they will continue to use it or not. Most theories about the user behaviors in the pre-adoption period are limited in describing them after adoption since they do not consider user's experiences of using the adopted IT and the beliefs formed by those experiences. Therefore, in this study, we explore user's experiences and beliefs such as familiarity, satisfaction and habits in the post-adoption period and examine how they affect user's intention to continue in using Mobile Social Network Service. Through literature reviews, we proposed the conceptual model to explain the role of users' habits in continuance of IT post-adoption stage. Then, we examine the impact of the constructs to affect the intention to continue using the Mobile SNS. The results show that the intention to continue to use Mobile SNS is strongly influenced by users' habits, satisfaction and familiarity; users' habits is strongly influenced by satisfaction and familiarity; satisfaction is strongly influenced by familiarity.

Ahn, Joong-Ho ; Choi, Kyu-Chul ; Sung, Ki-Moon ; Lee, Jae-Hong ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 15, issue 4, 2010, Pages 143~163
The purpose of this study is to investigate the user's perception of security risk and examine its impact on the usage of Knowledge Management Systems(KMS). The findings of this study are three-fold. First, the overall user's perception of security risk is not high. However, there is a considerably big difference in the perception of security risk among users. This finding means that user's perception of a security risk is not based on the actual security effects but one's individual perception. Another finding is that user's perception of a security risk has a negative impact on the usage of KMS through "trust", which is a mediating variable in our study. This finding corresponds with the existing theory that security risk is oneof the critical sources of trust, and trust is a critical factor of user's acceptance of KMS. Finally, the result of this study reveals that activities devoted to security do not decrease the effectiveness and productivity of KMS. Our long-held cognition that security activity hinders the effectiveness and productivity of an information system is not particularly applied to the KMS.

Lee, Yu-Won ; Lee, Ki-Yong ; Kim, Myoung-Ho ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 15, issue 4, 2010, Pages 165~179
Recently, the processing of data streams such as stock quotes, buy-sell orders, and billing records becomes more important in e-Business environments. Especially, the use of skyline queries over data streams is rapidly increasing to support multiple criteria decision making. Given a set of multi-dimensional tuples, a skyline query retrieves a set of tuples which are not dominated by other tuples. Although there has been much work on processing skyline queries over static datasets, there has been relatively less work on processing multiple skyline queries over data streams. In this paper, we propose an efficient method for processing multiple continuous skyline queries over data streams. The proposed method efficiently identifies which tuple is a skyline tuple of which query, resulting in a lower cost of processing multiple skyline queries. Through performance evaluation, we show the performance advantage of the proposed method.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 15, issue 4, 2010, Pages 197~218
Korean Government has invested a lot of efforts on digital contents industry. It believes that the digital contents industry enables Korea to regain the reputation of the most powerful IT country. Among its various efforts to promote the digital contents industry, a Digital Contents Identifier System, called UCI(Universal Contents Identifier), has been developed and deployed. UCI has provided a critical infrastructure for digital contents production and distribution. Thanks to Korean Government's efforts, users (companies and individuals) have currently registered 3.8 million digital contents through 25 RA organizations. Although the number of registered contents has been increased rapidly, many organizations hesitate to adopt the UCI system due to the lack of visible and short-term returns from the UCI system. Thus, this research tries to explore factors which affect UCI user satisfaction. This research finds that user's awareness, information quality, and service quality are the critical influencing factors toward UCI user satisfaction. In addition, this research finds that the critical influencing factors in public organizations are different from the critical influencing factors in private organizations. These findings hopefully provide useful guidelines for disseminating the UCI system widely.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 15, issue 4, 2010, Pages 285~301
Peer-to-peer (P2P) lending is an open marketplace for loans not from bank but from individuals online. Financial transactions are facilitated directly between individuals ("peers") without any intermediation of a traditional financial institution. A market study by renowned research company forecasts that P2P lending will grow very fast and a couple of P2P lending sites in Korea also are getting attentions by providing the alternative financial services. In P2P lending market, Lender will enjoy higher income generated from the loans in the form of interest than interest that can be earned by financial products provided by official financial institutions. Furthermore, lenders are able to decide who they would lend the money for themselves. Meanwhile, borrowers with low credit scores are able to finance their liquidity requirement with low cost and convenient access to the Internet. The objective of this paper is to introduce P2P lending and its issues of information asymmetry. We provide the insights from the case study of one of P2P lending sites in Korea and review the issues in P2P lending market as research topics. Specifically, information asymmetry issues in both traditional financial institutions and P2P lending are discussed.
Extended KNN Imputation Based LOF Prediction Algorithm for Real-time Business Process Monitoring Method
Kang, Bok-Young ; Kim, Dong-Soo ; Kang, Suk-Ho ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 15, issue 4, 2010, Pages 303~317
In this paper, we propose a novel approach to fault prediction for real-time business process monitoring method using extended KNN imputation based LOF prediction. Existing rule-based approaches to process monitoring has some limitations like late alarm for fault occurrence or no indicators about real-time progress, since there exist unobserved attributes according to the monitoring phase during process executions. To improve these limitations, we propose an algorithm for LOF prediction by adopting the imputation method to assume unobserved attributes. LOF of ongoing instance is calculated by assuming next probable progresses after the monitoring phase, which is conducted during entire monitoring phases so that we can predict the abnormal termination of the ongoing instance. By visualizing the real-time progress in terms of the probability on abnormal termination, we can provide more proactive operations to opportunities or risks during the real-time monitoring.
