Kim, JeongYeon ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 18, issue 1, 2013, Pages 1~12
DOI : 10.7838/jsebs.2013.18.1.001
With the increases of requirement for user identification in Internet services, we should let the service companies know my personal information. If the shared personal information with them are used in not-allowed area or delivered to un-authorized persons, we may have practical harms in several fields such as financial related operations. Korean Government has introduced new management method for personal information, but it is not hard to find the personal information management issues from Korean news papers. The proper measurement should be delivered to related companies to help them to decide investment for security. This paper review the indirect measurement method of demages by check the stock prices of related company for personal information management issue. We check the relationship between change of stock price and the information management issue. The result shows there are no changes in stock market. Korean government added strong regulations for personal information management though. To prevent further personal information issues, we should recognize the indirect damages properly and let the company pay higher reparations for any personal information abuse.
Effects of Inter-Organizational Partner's Relationship Characteristics and IOS Visibility on Supply Chain Performance
Kim, Moon-Sun ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 18, issue 1, 2013, Pages 13~31
DOI : 10.7838/jsebs.2013.18.1.013
This paper proposes a new concept of inter-organizational systems (IOS) visibility, considering the key role of IOS in IT-enabled supply chain (SC) cooperation. Further, antecedents and consequences IOS visibility have been studied. Antecedents of IOS visibility are identified from the two conflicting theories of inter-organizational relationships, i.e., RDT(resource dependence theory) and RV(relational view). Investigating SC cooperation from the perspectives of both partners (buyers and suppliers) is important, especially when channel partners depend on each other and when asymmetries in IOS visibility can exist. Hence, this study attempts to accommodate both partners' perspectives in IOS visibility and to look into the consequences of IOS visibility from each participant's perspective.

DOI : 10.7838/jsebs.2013.18.1.033
Information sharing behavior in the Internet has raised much interest. Recently, social network sites provide a new information sharing channel for the users who want to connect with others based on common social background or tastes. Especially, we focus that a social network site becomes one of major routes for information sharing about socially influential issues. Therefore, studying how information is diffused via a social network site may give theoretically, practically significant implication. Based on the assertion, we investigated user's behavior to mediate other user's information messages. We define information mediating behavior as concurrent actions of filtering and distributing behavior of the digital content that is originated from one of the connected users. In this study, we intended to understand the effects of information mediating behavior, and tried to understand characteristics of re-mediating of previously mediated information. Using an agent-based simulation model, we found that information mediating behavior increased the extent of information diffusion significantly. In addition, even a small degree of mediating probability could boost up the level of information diffusion in the case of a re-mediating condition. We believe that those findings provide remarkable insight of research and business application on both of information sharing and diffusion in a social network site.

DOI : 10.7838/jsebs.2013.18.1.071
This study aims to validate the cost of building the infrastructure to commercialize online electric vehicles. For that purpose, we probe the cost to construct the necessary infrastructure for online electric vehicles regarding Seoul area public bus transit. OLEV and PEV are considered as alternative electric vehicle schemes, and each of them has their own cons and pros in terms of rechargeable battery cost and charger cost. An optimization model which minimizes the cost to install online electric bus feeding devices is proposed in order to compare the total costs of the two alternative schemes. We developed a Mixed Integer Programming model to locate the feeding devices of several different lengths at each bus stops. Furthermore, we implemented a computer simulator to obtain the parameters which will be used in the MIP model and a Web-based system which determines the optimal location of infrastructure for the whole city area from a result of the MIP model. The cost comparison result shows that the total cost of OLEV is cheaper than that of PEV considering the real data of Seoul area public transit, and, as a result, confirms the feasibility of the commercialization of OLEV.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 18, issue 1, 2013, Pages 97~105
DOI : 10.7838/jsebs.2013.18.1.097
In the e-business domain where data objects are quantitatively large, measuring similarity to find the same or similar objects is important. It basically requires comparing and computing the features of objects in pairs, and therefore takes longer time as the amount of data becomes bigger. Recent studies have shown various algorithms to efficiently perform it. Most of them show their performance superiority by empirical tests over some sets of data. In this paper, we introduce those data sets, present their characteristics and the meaningful threshold values that each of data sets contain in nature. The analysis on practical data sets with respect to their threshold values may serve as a referential baseline to the future experiments of newly developed algorithms.

The evolution of IT facilitated the communication and knowledge sharing between the social network service (SNS) users. When the more information about SNS users had been posted in SNS site, SNS users had sometimes exposed in the risk of privacy invasion. To remedy this problem, we had introduced the information control mechanisms from the prior studies in data management to the SNS area and empirically validated the effect of these mechanisms in this research. Three information control mechanisms had been elected as access control, reference control and diffusion control. We had conducted a survey to the Facebook users which is the most famous SNS site. 459 data had been gathered and analyzed by PLS algorism. As the results, reference control and diffusion control has significantly increased the trust on SNS providers and decrease the privacy concern. This change could significantly affect on the satisfaction with the SNS site and knowledge sharing intention of SNS users. This study could introduce the new perspective about privacy protection issues in SNS area. Also, the information control mechanisms suggested in this study could contribute to make more robust privacy protection mechanisms in SNS site in practice.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 18, issue 1, 2013, Pages 129~146
DOI : 10.7838/jsebs.2013.18.1.129
This paper focuses on the systematic approach to handle possible resistance by the members of an organization which adopts ERP system. We also analyze various factors that affect the members' receptivity to the new system. The analytic result from the data of 169 universities shows that emotional factors such as fear and doubt play a significant role, while other factors such as relative advantages of efficiency, relative advantages of system and technology support does not. This research demonstrates both the psychological and behavioral aspects of resistance to technology, and then provides a new perspective on the adoption and diffusion of technological innovation in an organization by systematically analyzing the possible negative consequences while the majority of existing research emphasizes on the rosy prospects of the innovation.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 18, issue 1, 2013, Pages 147~164
DOI : 10.7838/jsebs.2013.18.1.147
For the continuous information security governance, we have to focus on not just technical aspects like access control and DRM, but informal level management like information security(IS) behavior, culture, and personal value. But there are few informal level studies, while many formal level studies of IS governance or technical means. This study is an empirical test that how IS culture, normal beliefs, personal behavior and value affect employee's deviant behavior. And we define a lack of an awareness of value and importance on IS regulations in organizations as "Information Security Anomie" with the concept of anomie, a viewpoint on social organization.

Conceptual modeling is a critical activity for developing successful business information systems. The objective of this study is to evaluate the possibility of applying the constant comparison method from the grounded theory to conceptual modeling. To achieve the objective, we trained novice modelers and split them into two groups for evaluation. The experimental results show that applying the constant comparison method could increase acceptability from more experienced conceptual modelers. Moreover, while the control group was experienced difficulties when domain knowledge is unfamiliar, the experimental group could handle difficulties more effectively. In addition, applying the constant comparison method also decreased the time to complete analysis for conceptual modeling.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 18, issue 1, 2013, Pages 191~211
DOI : 10.7838/jsebs.2013.18.1.191
The deployment of social network service(SNS) makes the social network game(SNG) as the new value added service of SNS be popular. But, a few study had identified the reason of this popularity and the elements of SNG. Based on the social presence theory and media richness theory, we had tried to identify three community artifacts (i.e. persistent labeling, self presentation and deep profiling) and two media characteristics(i.e. vividness and interactivity) as the SNG elements in this research. Then we had empirically validated the effect of these elements on the SNGexperience (i.e. social presence, perceived enjoyment) and behavioral intentions (i.e. Continuous usage intention, willingness to pay and loyalty) of the users. We conducted a survey to the actual SNG users. 243 data were collected and analyzed by PLS algorism. The results indicated that the community artifacts mediated by the social presence and media characteristics could significantly affect on the experiences and behavioral intentions. These findings could contribute to identify what element could be the reason of social network game popularity and could also contribute to design more attractive social network game in practice.
