Lee, Un-Kon ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 21, issue 2, 2016, Pages 1~22
DOI : 10.7838/jsebs.2016.21.2.001
News contents has been collected, selected, edited and sometimes distorted by the news recommendation mechanisms of online portals in nowadays. Prior studies had not confirmed the consensus of newsworthiness, and they had not tried to empirically validate the impacts of newsworthiness on audience reactions. This study challenged to summarize the concepts of newsworthiness and validate the impact of representativeness of both editor's and audience's perspective on audience reactions as perceived news quality, trust on news portal, perceived usefulness, service satisfaction, loyalty, continuous usage intention, and word-of-mouth intention by adopting the representativeness heuristics method and information adoption model. 357 valid data had been collected using a scenario survey method. Subjects in each groups are exposed by 3 news recommendation mechanisms: 1) the time-priority news exposure mechanism (control group), 2) the reference-score-based news recommendation mechanism (a single treatment group), and 3) the major-news-priority exposure mechanism sorting by the reference scores made by peer audiences (the mixed treatment group). Data had been analyzed by the MANOVA and PLS method. MANOVA results indicate that only mixed method of both editor and audience recommendation mechanisms impacts on perceived news quality and trust. PLS results indicate that perceived news quality and trust could significantly affect on the perceived usefulness, service satisfaction, loyalty, continuance usage, and word-of-mouth intention. This study would contributions to empathize the role of information technology in media industry, to conceptualize the news value in the balanced views of both editors and audiences, and to empirically validate the benefits of news recommendation mechanisms in academy. For practice, the results of this study suggest that online news portals would be better to make mixed news recommendation mechanisms to attract audiences.

With the increasing socio-economic value of an open collaboration over the Internet, it has become significantly important to successfully manage open source software development program. Most of the previous research have focused on various factors that influence the performance of the project, but studies on how the project owners recognized as "leader" affect the outcome of the project are very limited. This research investigates how individual and governance characteristics of an owner influences the performance of project based on impression formation and social capital theory. For a data set, we collect 611 Repositories and the owner's data from the open source development platform Github, and we form knowledge sharing network of an each repository by using social network analysis. We use hierarchical regression analysis, and our results show that a leader, who exposes a lot of one's personal information or who has actively followed and showed interests to communicate with other developers, affects positive impacts on project performance. A leader who has a high centrality in knowledge sharing network also positively affects on project performance. On the other hand, if a leader was highly willing to accept external knowledge or is recognized as an expert in the community with large numbers of followers, the result show negative impacts on project performance. The research may serve as a useful guideline not only for the future open source software projects but also for the effective management of different types of open collaboration.

DOI : 10.7838/jsebs.2016.21.2.047
Parcel service is to deliver goods from one place to the designated destination requested according to user request. Parcel operations such as sorting, distributing, etc. or the managed information are heterogeneous by the companies. Additionally, it is impossible to support interoperability between companies with unformatted data of manual processing. Most parcel package boxes attached to paper typed waybill is attached is delivered to consignee. So, security problems such as personal information leaking are occurred, or extra processing time and logistics costs are needed due to wrong or the damaged information. Business environment of parcel service is rapidly changed as introducing unmanned delivery or the advanced technology such as Internet of Things. User want to know the accurate status or steps from parcel service request to delivery. To provide these requirements, the unified and integrated waybill information for reliable transportation of parcel service is needed. This information will provide to pickup or delivery carrier, warehouse or terminal, and parcel service user per pickup, transport, and delivery stage of parcel delivery service. Therefore, this paper defines the simplified and unified information model for parcel service waybill by analyzing information systems used for logistics unit processes that is occurred to parcel service, and manual work processes, and developing the relevant information of work flows occurred between business processes or transactions with the collected or processed information by from parcel service's stages. It is possible to share these standard model between business entities, and replacing paper typed waybill will improve national life safety as preventing security threats by paper typed waybill. As a result, it will promote the public interest from the stakeholder's perspective.

Recently, digital broadcasting service is growing as a TV-based commerce market spread. However, in previous studies, many researchers studied TV home shopping and T-Commerce separately each other, and there is little research on the attribute to increase the satisfaction of consumers. In this study, we analyzed the attribute to increase satisfaction of consumer using TV-based commerce, and we propose to the direction to move forward. We selected characteristics of TV home shopping and T-Commerce through previous studies, and analyzed satisfaction of customers with quality attributes of TV-based commerce using KANO model and ASC(Average Satisfaction Coefficient).

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 21, issue 2, 2016, Pages 81~96
DOI : 10.7838/jsebs.2016.21.2.081
This paper analyzes the impact of information breach on shareholder value by measuring the stock price reaction associated with the announcements of data breach. The breach firms in the sample lost, on average, 1.3% of their market value, amounting to 98.9 million won of loss within two-day of the event period after the announcement. We examine the abnormal returns in various categories (i.e., source, type, size, etc.) of information breach. Although the market does not react significantly to the announcements of outside breach, we find statistically significant market reactions to inside breach. We estimate abnormal returns over the following 60 days. The mean 60-day cumulative abnormal return and BHAR (buy-and-hold abnormal returns) are both significantly far from zero. We conclude that there is a coherent market reaction following the announcement. The difference between the market reactions to IT firms and Non-IT firms is statistically significant. But breach amount, firm size, and the year the breach occurred do not show to be significant variables.

Motion-sensing interface enhances the sense of reality of user experience in virtual reality context. This study analyzes the innovation resistance and adoption structure for Leap Motion, which provides a motion-sensing function, primarily considering the theory of perceived risk. Previous research regarding innovation resistance and adoption mainly addressed the resultant aspects of perceived risk, or the impact of perceived value on the adoption intention. This study synthetically reviews previous studies from a multi-dimensional view considering both resistance- and adoption-perspective. To do so, we identified important antecedents that affect perceived risk and value, and we analyzed the compound dynamics of perceived risk and value towards innovation resistance. As a result, we found that the antecedents included in the existent acceptance models from adoption-perspective can help reduce the level of perceived risk, and that higher perceived value leads to lower innovation resistance. Additionally, trialability can rather foster the perceived risk.

In the era of the Web 2.0, characterized by the openness, sharing and participation, it is easy for internet users to produce and share the data. The amount of the unstructured data which occupies most of the digital world's data has increased exponentially. One of the kinds of the unstructured data called personal online product reviews is necessary for both the company that produces those products and the potential customers who are interested in those products. In order to extract useful information from lots of scattered review data, the process of collecting data, storing, preprocessing, analyzing, and drawing a conclusion is needed. Therefore we introduce the text-mining methodology for applying the natural language process technology to the text format data like product review in order to carry out extracting structured data by using R programming. Also, we introduce the data-mining to derive the purpose-specific customized information from the structured review information drawn by the text-mining.
