An Information Strategy for Activating the Electronic Commerce of Regional Small and Medium-sized Business Organizations

A major effect of electronic commerce on the Internet is that it reduces transaction costs and creates an efficient market. Thus, an information strategy for developing of regional economy must be changed toward 21st century of electronic commerce era. In this paper, we present an information strategy for activating the electronic commerce of regional small and medium-sized business organizations. The paper stresses creation of a network organization comprising local government, regional business organizations, universities, research institutes, and citizens' coalitions as groups of organizational actors. Necessary conditions of a successful network organization in electronic commerce are to build the public key infrastructure for developing the trust of transactions among partners, and to create an information center to manage a web of partners. In the network organization, the information center must play critical roles as a creator of value and the certification authority in order to issue and manage participants' electronic certificates.

Global Electronic Commerce (EC) is currently being pursued by most of the developed countries. Domestically, EC has just started and still has lots of problems to solve in terms of both technology and institutions. EC has a great potential to affect a country's competitive advantage. For EC to be adopted and diffused early, it is necessary to analyze the current status of EC and to establish the strategies to strengthen the competitive position. Therefore, the major objectives of the study are to review the current status of EC in Korea and to propose for both public and private sectors the strategies to strengthen the competitive advantage.
Development of a Scenario-based WBT System of Electronic Commerce

This study describes the works on development of a scenario-based WBT system of electronic commerce to introduce and activate electronic commerce in our society because it is mostly required to correctly understand electronic commerce and timely educate its users and technicians for entering into global electronic commerce that binds every commercial area regardless of the borders and nationalities. This system, WBT(Web - Based Training of Electronic commerce), consists of two parts. The one part provides a general concept of EC. This is developed to meet the needs of beginner for EC. The other is a simulator for cyber shopping mall. It is designed for teaching how to shop at cyber shopping mall based on various scenarios. In addition, we can simulate ourselves for EDI, which enables trading partners to conduct routine business transaction, such as purchase orders, invoices and shopping notices with it. Our commitment to the development of this application is consistent with the objectives of being easy to learn electronic commerce and its applications in real world.
A Study on Design and Implementation of Automatic Product Information Indexing and Retrieval System for Online Comparison Shopping on the Web

In this paper, we describe the approaches of shopping agents and directory services for online comparison shopping on the web, and propose an information indexing and retrieval system, named InfoEye, with a new method for automatic extraction of product information. The developed method is based on the knowledge about presentation of the product information on the Web. The method from the knowledge about presentation of the product information is derived from both the point that online stores display their products to customers in easy-to-browse ways and heuristics made of analyses of product information look-and-feel of domestic online stores. In indexing process, the method is applied to product information extraction from Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) documents collected by a mirroring robot from online stores. We have made InfoEye to a readily usable stage and transferred the technology to Webnara commercial shopping engine. The proposed system is a cutting-edge solution to help customers as a shopping expert by providing information about the reasonable price of a product from dozens of online stores, saving customers shopping time, giving information about new products, and comparing quality factors of products in a same category.
A Case Study of CALS Planning Process on Public Administration Sector: A Case of Firm C

CALS has been a hot issue in the industry related to the information technology in order to achieve the strategic competitive advantage, especially in the field of logistics and manufacturing firms. Nonetheless, while there is an abundance of literature advocating the strategic role of the concept in the field of logistics and manufacturing firms, little attention has been given to the planning process to be applied to public administration sectors. This research conducts a case study on Firm C, which is one of the government institutes, investigating its planning processes for which CALS concept should be applied. Based on the analysis of the document and interviews with the author, by applying information system planning and value chain models, this paper concludes that CALS concept can be successfully applied to the public administration sectors likewise industry sectors.

With the advent and proliferation of the Internet, Electronic Commerce(EC) on the Internet has become one of the most rapidly growing area and has been the subject of much research lately. EC is commercial transactions using computers in virtual environment through computer networks. The computer system deals with various ranges of things such as products, services, and information on EC. In this paper we describe the construction methods of web site based on the personalization, Also, we present the personalization technology and architecture of the P-Commerce proposed in this paper. Finally, we describe the methods constructing EC site using P-Commerce solution.
A Study on Sharing Architectural Design Information through the Computer Network

The architectural design requires collaboration among various participants, such as architects, clients and engineers in the stages of the design process. Rapid development of information technology enables effective and prompt exchange and sharing of digital architectural information, otherwise should have been exchanged and managed by traditional ways. However, the core technology for supporting this demands has not been fully investigated so far. This paper aims to show the possibility of adopting network based architectural design information sharing system through surveying and analyzing the state-of-the-art network technology and its uses in architectural information exchange among various design actors. To realize these aims, this paper 1) investigates and analyzes the current status of network technology in the architectural and construction practice, 2) suggests systematic information exchange and sharing mechanism for architectural products and drawings data, and 3) demonstrates network based prototypical architectural information system.

Integration of Business Process Modeling Methodologies: IDEF0, IDEF3, and Petri Net

In order to achieve a successful introduction of CALS, an enterprise model which is a concise description of what an enterprise does is required. The enterprise model mainly consists of a process model and a data model. The process model describes processes that create, change, combine, or destroy the entities within the enterprise. Several process modeling methodologies have been proposed. Each modeling methodology requires its own modeling view point, elements, and syntax. In developing a process model for CALS, these models created at different view points are required to analyze and design a system in a broad view. This paper aims at proposing an integration methodology for a process model. Specifically, IDEF0, IDEF3, and Petri Net are considered to be integrated. An IDEF0 model describing static functions of enterprise is transformed to an IDEF3 model describing behaviour of a system with additional information. Also, the IDEF3 model is transformed to a Petri Net model. These transformations will be automatically accomplished once the additional information for the transformation is provided.
A Study for the Development Strategy of CITIS Standard

We followed the below procedure to establish the development strategy of CITIS standard. At first, we investigated Military CITIS and Commercial CITIS to establish the concept of CITIS and examined several implemented examples. And using the previous analysis, We analyzed the structure of the functions, the technologies and the standards. To establish the development strategy of CITIS standard, we divided CITIS standards into three category, These are infrastrucure standard, data standard and process standard. In the process standard, we analyzed how we develop a formulated process and which item we select to make formulated official documents. And finally, We explained the implementation plan and extension strategy of government-enterprise and inter-enterprise CITIS respectively.
An Object-Oriented Process Modeling for the Development of the Integrated Logistics Support

This study reviews the concept of Integrated Logistic Support(ILS), ILS standards, ILS elements, and the processes of developing ILS elements and Logistics Support Analysis(LSA). It also examines the potentials of applying ILS development process to building CALS systems in commercial sectors in order to accomplish business process innovation and achieve life-cycle cost savings in product and equipment management. In order to utilize the ILS approach for commercial industries, we need customizing the process of Logistics Support Analysis defined in MIL-STD-1388-lA. The success of ILS implementation depends on the determination of the range of ILS elements in relation with the application environment, and the appropriate development of those elements. During the development process, in order to analyze and design logistics flow processes and supporting activities, we suggest the object-oriented logistics process modeling approach with basic concepts and constructs embedded in objects. Several diagrams including Class Diagram, Class-Instance Diagram, and Integrated Instance Diagram, are provided. Simple Steps to follow are suggested for the analysis and design of inter-organizational logistics flow and support processes. The outcomes of the study are expected to contribute to stimulating the utilization of ILS concepts and development process during building commercial CALS systems.
The Development of The Integrated Inventory Management System using SCM and Intranet

Supply chain management is defined as "an integrative philosophy to manage the total flow of a distribution channel from the supplier to the ultimate user". There are many differences between traditional systems and supply chain management systems, There are so many advantages applying SCM concept in inventory management field from the viewpoint of information sharing. While each firm try to optimize the inventory individually in traditional systems, SCM focus on optimizing the channel-wide-inventory making effort to reduce the inventory interrelatedly, The more complex your network of suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors, the more you are likely to gain operational efficiencies by attending on inventory management. The inventory stockpiles at the various sites, including both incoming materials and finished products, have complex interrelationships. Efficient and effective management of inventory throughout the supply chain significantly improves the ultimate service provided to the customer. The purpose of this thesis is to develop the integrated inventory management system for the control of channel-wide inventory on the intranet by applying SCM concept.
