Classification of Shopping Information Services on the Web in Korea

In this paper, we review and classify shopping information services for electronic commerce in Korea. Shopping information services for electronic commerce can be divided into shopping mall information service and product information service. Shopping mall information service simply shows and suggests information on the shopping malls that it has in its data store. But product information service provides information about the items of the shopping malls the service has and therefore gives more powerful and convenient interfaces to users. Cutting-edge product information services can perform online comparison shopping facility, which searches and compares the items what the users want on the reasonable basis of economical criteria, such as price. Books, CDs, and Personal Data Assistant(PDA)s are the products of which the specification is clear enough to be described on the Web. And the comparison of the products by the information service is performed on the basis of "price" of the product item. The approach to design and implement product information service can be divided into two categories. The one is an application of data warehousing mechanism, which stores the product information on the regular basis of time and provide it when the users query over the Web-database gateway. The other approach is a shopping agent mechanism, which stores information on "how to shop" and the shopping agent collects the information of product items just after users query about the product and provide the information in real time or notify them by alerting service. Thirty nine shopping information services are compared and classified in this paper and they are extracted from "Naver" and "Yahoo! Korea". The final result shows that most services are just a simple shopping mall information service in growing stage, product information services with data warehousing are lack in product ontology in middle stage, and that product information services with shopping agent are in early stage.

Nowadays, major application of public key certification technology based on PKI(Public Key Infrastructure) is electronic commerce. Public key certification technology may include various sub-technologies such as key recovery, secret sharing, certificate/key management, and directory system technology. This thesis discusses PKI-based certification authority technology for electronic commerce on the Internet.
A Study on a Model of Economic Value of Transmission Speed of Internet Commerce

This paper is a study on a model of economic value of transmission speed of Internet Commerce. For this research, this paper searches the factors that influence the transmission speed of Internet and suggests the model for measurement of economic value. The model adopted in this research is CVM(contingent valuation method) using in environment economics and the research area in this paper is concentrated on Internet-based Electronic Commerce. For this purpose, this paper suggests econometrics model that measures customer's payment intention for transmission speed of Internet. This model can be used as the basic tool of feasibility of investment analysis and reasonable pricing on Internet service. For the more, it will be followed empirical study and more careful comprehension for objective validity of this study.
A Study on the Security Vulnerabilities and Defense Mechanism for SET-based Electronic Commerce

In order to construct a successful electronic commerce system, three main essential factors must be satisfied to obtain the best effective outcomes. The three main essential factors are as follows : economic factor, effectiveness factor and convenient factor. In order to understand the role of these three factors, one must have some insight knowledge about security to assist him to implement these three factors in his construction of an electronic commerce system. This paper analyses a implementation mechanism of security systems based on the SET 1.0 standard for electronic commerce systems, thus providing an effective plan for the construction of a security system in the SET-based electronic commerce field. This paper helps to analyse the elements of security vulnerabilities in the SET 1.0 standard implementation and also helps to understand the SET 1.0 protocol.
The function and architecture of electronic payment system

This paper shows the architecture of IPS(Intermarket Payment System), an implementation of the electronic payment function for internet-shopping merchant system. Because the original purpose of commerce transaction is the exchange of money for goods or services, it is very important to prepare an exchangeable economic value or method. The electronic payment system is the hardware or software or both to process an electronic payment transaction. It has two type, the broker type and the electronic value type. The broker type means an intermediator between real bank network and internet commerce transaction. The electronic value type means a substitute for money in the real world. This paper shows the architecture and the function to implement the broker type electronic payment system. The system has two parts. One is the mediator part to support multiple payment systems and to offer common access methods for merchant system database. The other is the executor part to implement the payment protocol and to process payment transaction.
Design and Implementation of an Application for Internet Banking

Recently, Internet services are rapidly spreading all over the world. Internet will have a great influence on financial market and banking industry. Customers will obtain full banking services over Internet. Thus, Internet banking is an unavoidable choice to strengthen the competitive edge of banks. This paper designs and develops an application for Internet banking services in the existing banks. The implementation of Internet banking requires the construction of website, web pages and links to other related information. Using Oracle DBMS(Database Management System), Oracle Application Server, PL/SQL(Procedural Language/SQL), Java Applet, and Java Script, a prototype for Internet banking is implemented.
Research on the Development of the Electronic Money System in Korea

It is expected that the electronic money will be a major payment method in the forthcoming electronic finacial system. However, in order for the electronic money to have a widespread use among general public in their dialy life there are many properties that should be satisfied beforehand. In this study, we first analyze the characteristics of the existing electronic money systems, compare various proposals on the electronic money system so far, and then suggest a desirable model of developing an electronic money system for Korean financial institutions. It has been found that the model we propose satisfies the general requirements of the electronic money system. The results of this study will aid in various activities of technology development and standardization. Furthermore, this study will support the initiative effort of Korea in developing inter-country electronic money system.
A Study on the SMEs' Internet Direct Marketing as an entry mode to foreign markets

It is likely that the Internet play a significant role in international marketing strategies. Especially small and medium sized enterprises that have suffered from lack of resources and information, are able to make the best use of information technology to overcome various barriers. The purpose of this study is to explore the availability of the Internet as a means for small and medium sized firms to enter into international markets. To do this we reviewed previous researches on obstacles faced by small and medium sized firms to go abroad. And we suggest that the Internet marketing can be used as an entry mode to foreign markets and some tasks should be executed to gain competitive advantage. Finally some public policies to support SMEs' internationalization are indicated
A study on standard implementation method of defense CALS system

CALS is a strategy to share integrated product data through a set of standards to achieve efficiencies in business and operational mission areas. In this paper, we studied current status for CALS standard and then analyzed the case of US DoD. The results can be summarized as implementing for two major standard in defense CALS system. They are STEP and XML. Korea Defense can be used to set direction for CALS standard implementation and standard selection process based on this paper's recommendations.
A Study on the process modeling for weapon system R&D CALS system

The current process of weapon system R&D has lots of problems that the phase is complex, the concept of integration and/or connection of related data is laked and don't be digitalized. To solve these problems we should establish the R&D CALS system and to do this, analysis the R&D process is necessary. In this paper, We suggested weapon system R&D CALS concept and model, and analysed R&D process with ARIS Toolset and proposed the new R＆D process and operation scenarios with CALS concept.
A Study on the Security Architecture of CALS System

With developing computer and communication technologies, the concept of CALS system has been popular not only to military but also to commercial industries. The security problem is one of the most critical issues to construct CALS infrastructure. The CALS system needs some security functions such that data confidentiality, integrity, authenticity, availability, and non-repudiation. This paper proposes a security architecture model in CALS. The security architecture model is composed of 5 submodels such that network security model, authentication and key management model, operation and audit model, integrated database security model, and risk analysis model.
A Study on the Adoption of QR Systems in Korean Clothing and Textiles Industry

Quick response in the textiles and clothing industry is widely recognized at a strategic concept implemented by information technology to transfer changes in customer needs to the final product as soon as possible. This paper addresses which factors should affect the adoption of quick response systems in Korea. We surveyed 108 companies in the textile and clothing industry by using a questionnaire. We asked whether they adopted QR or not, and measured the usage level of QR-related ITs and the level of both internal and external factors in Likert's scale. We conducted multiple linear regression to analyze the data collected by using SAS. The findings are as follows: The adoption of QR, measured by the usage level of QR-related ITs, is positively affected by internal factors such as the recognition of QR concept and the capability for IT applications and by external factors such as the overall informating level of the industry, the needs for cooperation between organizations, and the leadership as an industry coordinator.
