Design and Applications of the POS System for Wallpaper Companies
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 1~16
In this paper, we introduced a POS(Point of Sale) system for a wallpaper company. We designed the database schema for the POS system, and proposed various application areas of the POS system. Especially, we discussed such application areas as inventory control, marketing, product development, and distribution channel. The quality of product management is enhanced by precise ABC inventory control and safety stock control. Marketing strategies can be more precisely established, and their effects can be measured. The development time can be shortened and new products can be developed based on the real market demands. Distributors can improve their management quality using precise sales data.
A study of the information technology satisfaction in a small business.
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 17~40
In this study we tried to measure the user satisfaction with IT in small firms. Though the number of small firms is not negligible, most studies on the IT satisfaction focused on medium and large-sized firms. Using Palvia's model in 1999 we measured If satisfaction of the employee in small firms in the manufacturing and telecommunication industry. We included seven constructs such as S/W pertinence, information content and accuracy, information format, system usefulness, system continuance, and system support to measure IT satisfaction. The result suggests that the If users in small firms are generally dissatisfied with the information technology and the areas of deep dissatisfaction are system usefulness and system support. Type of business, the gender and education of the users are found to affect the level of satisfaction.
The Evolution of Market Mechanism in B2B Electronic Commerce: An Exploratory Study
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 41~61
Many markets are forecast to see significant changes due to the growth of electronic commerce made possible by the internet. The way of doing business with internet affects the market mechanism. It is now over 10 years since Malone et al(1987) set out their hypothesis on electronic markets, and electronic hierarchies. An electronic market is an interorganizational information system through which multiple buyers and sellers interact to accomplish one or more of the following market-making activities. And they predicted that markets evolve toward electronic markets, by reducing search cost, which may result in significantly. higher price competition among sellers and therefore lower prices for buyers. And the degree of two factors; asset specificity and uncertainty, affect the market mechanism. Products with low asset specificity and low uncertainty are compatible with a market relationship while the greater the asset specificity and uncertainty, the more likely it is to favour a hierarchical structure. Based on the these researches, we observed and analyzed a case study of market mechanism in Internet business. We found the fact that even though Internet could make the business environment in which lots of buyers and suppliers participate, electronic market will evolve market mechanism. 1 analyzed two factors, which affected market evolution. First, When Asset specificity is low in electronic commerce, market structure should be preferred to hierarchical structure. Second, When transaction uncertainty is low in electronic commerce, market structure should be preferred In hierarchical structure. This research covers conceptual and empirical aspects on electronic market structure. Future research should be variously done about the influential factors of electronic market mechanism.
Design and Implementation of Agent Systems based on Case Markup Language for e-Leaning
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 63~80
The construction of the students knowledge in e-Learning systems, namely the student modeling, is a core component used to develop e-Learning systems. However, existing e-Learning systems have many problems to share the knowledge in a heterogeneous student model and a distributed knowledge base. Because the methods of the knowledge representation are different in each e-Learning systems, the accumulated knowledge cannot be used or shared without a great deal of difficulty. In order to share this knowledge, existing systems must reconstruct the knowledge bases. Consequently, we propose a new a Case Markup Language based on XML in order to overcome these problems. A distributed e-Learning systems fan have the advantage of easily sharing and managing the heterogeneous knowledge base proposed by CaseML. Moreover students can generate and share a case knowledge to use the communication protocol of agents. In this paper, we have designed and developed a CaseML by using a knowledge markup language. Furthermore, in order to construct an intelligent e-Learning systems, we have done our research based on the design and development of the intelligent agent system by using CaseML.
The Change of Market Environment toward B-to-B E-Commerce and Groping Ways out of the Difficulties of Companies
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 81~99
The world is now meeting the era of e-commerce by development of information technology and the fast increase of use of internet. So, Korean government prepared "the colligation plan for electronic commerce activating" and WTO decides to prolong no custom on e-commerce till November 2001 when the fourth WTO Ministerial Conference holds a meeting. OECD discussed the construction of intellectual property rights of the global dimension at the Global Forum on January 2001 and reached to research the social influence of B-to-B e-commerce and to pursue the acceleration of e-commerce. UNCITRAL(United Nations Commission on International Trade Law) enacted UNCITRAL Model Law on Electronic Commerce in order to activate e-commerce, and Bolero.net serves electronic Bill of Lading to facilitate cyber trading. The purpose of this paper is to present the direction of confrontation to the these internal and external changes of business environment to Korean enterprises. Off-line enterprises should move fast to e-commerce on the condition that the existing trading at the original markets runs parallel with e-commerce. n needed, off-line enterprises should consider M&A with existing on-line firms. Also, off-line firms make use of Bolero system so that they can carry through paperless trade which means the achievement of efficiency in trading, On-line enterprises should advertise in the form of banner by combination of push and pull styles. B-to-B e-commerce firms should not depend on only the commissions, but they should create characteristic earnings by their peculiar services.

Development of E-learning System in Constructive View
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 115~126
In constructive view, acquiring knowledge is made by experiences among members or elements. The knowledge in e-learning system can be extended up to knowledge of teachers and knowledge. of operating managers. We have many difficult problems to develop and manage e-1earning system because demanders on e-learning system have various. requirements. In traditional education system demanders are learners but in constructive view demanders can be extended to learners and teachers, operating mangers on e-learning system., In this study, we design and implement e-learning system named kedu V.1. Kedu V.1 is developed considering interactions of extended demanders of e-learning system in constructive view. And this system based on Linux operation system and MySQL, PHP. Also this system have efficient transplantation and portability capabilities and reduced cost and labor in implementation of real e-learning system
Developing a Measurement Scale for User Evaluations of Internet Portal Sites
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 127~148
As the Internet service is expanding rapidly, portal sites, a gateway tn the net, are attracting increasing attention these days. As the Internet service has expanded rapidly, so has the interest for portal sites,, which serve as a gateway to the net. Despite the tendency, however, research on a measure by which to evaluate the quality of portal sites or development of such measures has not been fully pursued. As online services, faced with profitability, are considering 'charge per view', the development of a set of quality evaluation measures for portal services will prove to become a valuable instrument in constructing competitive strategies that are vital for survival and growth of a firm. In that regard, this study aims to develop a set of evaluation measures for Internet portal sites by empirically investigating the most common offline measures for quality of services, SERVQUAL, retail SERVQUAL and other evaluation measures for IT-related online services. Moreover, the study offers the strategic implications of the defined measures.
The Development of a Construction Project Collaboration System: eWorks21
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 149~161
Construction and engineering is one of the world largest industry. Yet, it Is one of the most inefficiently operated industry. Since buildings are not constructed by mass production, construction projects usually require intense communication and collaboration between participants, who are usually widely dispersed. That is the main reason for the inefficiency. eWorks21 that we developed in this research, is a project management system that can improve communication and collaboration among project participants using the Internet. eWorks21 can reduce project life-cycle, costs, and increase revenue, resource utilization, controls, transparency, and competitiveness, which will eventually provide infrastructure for knowledge management of construction projects. In this research, we classified currently available project collaboration systems, and analyzed the benefits gained by using project collaboration systems. Then we describe the implementation of eWorks21, and discuss employment and utilization strategies of project collaboration systems.

A Study on Establishment of Construction CALS Standardization system
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 181~196
This paper presents a fundamental study to establish a standardization system of the Construction Continuous Acquisition and Life-cycle Support(CALS). A state of the art in standardization of the Construction CALS is reviewed to find some defects in developing CALS system in construction industry. It is analyzed that three major parts were needed to set up a standardization system for the Construction CALS. Firstly, the range of Construction CALS standardization is set up to identifying Construction CALS and defining the standards and standardization. Secondly, the strategy to carry out more effectively in Construction CALS standardization and make the relationship of the concerned system presented here can be used to establish the Construction CALS standardization system. In addition, the spread and application device are proposed to use Construction CALS standards at public institution and construction related companies. Conclusively, a classification of the Construction CALS standards was proposed and some objects to be standardized were represented in that. Results studied in this paper will provide the primary information and basic model to develop a guideline for standardization of the Construction CALS.
An Inventory Management for Fuzzy Linear Regression
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 197~207
The industrial structure comes to be complicated and for the production of the enterprise the rational and scientific forecast is necessary. The demand forecast has been widely used to linear regression, and up to now the linear regression was sharp the relationskp between then dependent variable and the independent variables. But, The real society demands accurate demand forecast from uncertain environment and subjective concept. This paper proposes the demand quantity forecast method to using of the fuzzy linear regression in uncertain and vague environment. Also, the optimum decision making of the demand quantity forecast uses integral calculus of the Sugeno to reflecting with the expert's (inventory manager) opinion.
Individual Roles for Small-sized Web Application Development
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 209~225
This paper Proposes the individual roles for developing small web application systems based on the Client/Server architecture with the activities and artifacts of each role and cooperation. The roles of Web Server part (i.e. User Interface Designer, Web Designer, HTML Writer), the roles of Application Server part (i.e. Domain Expert, Application Developer, Tester) and the roles of DB Server part (i.e. Database Administrator, Data Designer) are described. Furthermore, the role of the Development Leader that participates in development and manages all works in project and finds the solutions of problems in project, is also discussed. The Domain Expert analyzes the domain of the application in order to send the artifacts to the Application Developer. Then the Application Developer analyzes, designs and implements the application based on the artifacts of the Domain Expert and integrates the implemented program modules. Roles are related each other in this way, and cooperate until the application development is completed. Finally, we analyzed and compared these roles with the roles of RUP(Rational Unified process) and web wave. Suggested roles in this paper turned out to be efficient compared to the roles of the existing large-scale methodology.
