A Strategic Alliance for e-Commerce Companies: Guidelines of Alliance Process
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 1, 2002, Pages 1~17
Business environment for e-commerce companies have been rapidly changed for the last several yens and they have found out that strategic alliance as one of the important and practical means to cope with the dynamic environment. Despite the increasing number of e-commerce company's strategic alliances during last several years, there have been few studies made on strategic alliance which reflect the e-commerce company's uniqueness： dynamism, time to market, If-based business, etc. In order to reflect this uniqueness, we attempt to derive guidelines of alliance process for e-commerce companies in three aspects： 1) resource system analysis, 2) value chain analysis, and 3) If-based strategic alliance implementation and management. Finally, we propose the integrated process of strategic alliance for e-commerce companies including those proposed guidelines.
An Empirical Study on Web Site User-Interface Evaluation For Service Information Management
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 1, 2002, Pages 19~34
The main objective of this research is to find out whether there exist any user interface factors that influence service information management professionals(SIMP)'s business activities on the web. The result of this study shows that there exists a significant level of difference between two groups of office Professionals： SIMP and general office management professionals on user interface factors. We analyzed the past and current research results and focused on four major evaluation categories： (1) web design, (2) structure, (3) navigation, and (4) interaction and identified 26 evaluation items in those categories. The study has been initiated by an intuition that there might be a significant difference in sets of user interface factors that influence SIMP and general office professionals. From the list of Best 100 Web Sites the best 30 information-providing web sites and the best 30 service-providing web sites were carefully chosen by a panel of 10 members for each group. To evaluate 60 web sites, another panel was formed by 30 professionals from each group, and they conducted evaluation in their own work settings. Reliability analysis on user interface factors and T-test to find out any influencing factors on SIMP were performed. As a result of this study, we have recognized that clarity, formation, consciseness, economics, and robustness are the most influencing user interface factors for web designers to concern when they develop web sites for SIMP. The study result can be improved by enhancing reliability of choosing target web sites In investigate and panel members. Also, in the future study it is recommended to investigate influencing factors for office professionals in terms of. age, sex, experience, academic background, etc.

A Study on the Multilevel Electronic Commerce Security using Scalable Multicast
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 1, 2002, Pages 66~74
Through the increment of requirement for EC(Electronic Commerce) oriented communication services, security multicast communications is becoming more important. However, multicast to EC environment is much different from unicast concept most network security protocols. On the network security, using mandatory access control of multilevel architecture which assigns a specific meaning to each subject, so we accomplish access control. In this way, access control security based on the information security level is proposed. A security protocol based on the architecture proposed in this paper would be utilized in security multicast communications, group key management service and leveled security service through multilevel EC security policy, Also we discuss and propose the security level scaleability and key management method on the network.

In this study, we proposed design issues and structure of a web mining system and develop a system for the purpose of knowledge integration under world wide web environments resulted from our developing experiences. The developed system consists of three main functions： 1) gathering documents utilizing a search agent; 2) determining similarity coefficients between any two documents from term frequencies; 3) clustering documents based on similarity coefficients. It is believed that the developed system can be utilized for discovery of knowledge in relatively narrow domains such as news classification, index term generation in knowledge management.
A Business Process Redesign Method within an ERP Framework
Dong-Gill Jung ;
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 1, 2002, Pages 87~106
The behavioral and dynamic implications of an ERP implementation/installation are, to say the least, not well understood. Getting the switches set to enable the ERP software to go live is becoming straightforward. The really difficult part is understanding all of the dynamic interactions that accrue as a consequence. Dynamic causal and connectionist models are employed to facilitate an understanding of the dynamics and to enable control of the information-enhanced processes to take place. The connectionist model ran be analyzing (behind the scenes) the information accesses and transfers and coming If some conclusions about strong linkages that are getting established and what the behavioral implications of those new linkages and information accesses we. Ultimately, the connectionist model will come to an understanding of the dynamic, behavioral implications of the larger ERP implementation/installation per se. The underlying connectionist model will determine information transfers and workflow. Once a map of these two infrastructures is determined by the model, it becomes a relatively easy job for an analyst to suggest improvements in both. Connectionist models start with analog object structures and then use learning to produce mechanisms for managerial problem diagnoses. These mechanisms are neural models with multiple-layer structures that support continuous input/output. Based on earlier work performed and published by the author, a Connectionist ReasOning and LEarning System(CROLES) is developed that mimics the real-world reasoning infrastructure. Coupled with an explanation subsystem, this system can provide explanations as to why a particular reasoning structure behaved the way it did. Such a system operates in the backgmund, observing what is happening as every information access, every information response coming from each and every intelligent node (whether natural or artificial) operating within the ERP infrastructure is recorded and encoded. The CROLES is also able to transfer all workflows and map these onto the decision-making nodes of the organization.
Database Management System Parameter Tuning Processes for Improving Database System Performance
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 1, 2002, Pages 107~127
Database system parameter tuning is one of database system tuning that achieve to improve performance of database system with application program tuning and data model tuning. By parameter tuning adjusts value of entry that is staled in data dictionary's parameter file that is included to database system, it is thing which make relevant database system can display performance of most suitable. And, it is that achievement is one o( possible tuning method immediately without occurrence of additional expense or involved hardware for database system performance elevation and ashes composition of software. But, it is actuality that administration about parameter practical use is not achieved, and is using Default Value of parameter that database management system offers just as it is systematically. So, this paper presents parameter tuning process that can ：achieve Parameter tuning of database system that is operating present systematically, and parameter tuning process each activity important input urea and tuning achievement product. And explain about effect and result that happen by sort database system performance and parameters that it is affinity systematically, and grasp relationships between parameter, and change parameter of string database system. And not that parameter uses contents that specify by fixing when establish database administration system, is going to emphasize and explain that must utilize changing continuously during database system operation. It changes parameter entry value how in various kinds different operation environment and present if must apply, and will arrange effect that this parameter enoy value alteration gets in performance liking into account point that is actuality that is using parameter that define database administrators when install the database system just as it is continually without alteration.
Implementing an ERP Customizing Using Process Models and Business Components
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 1, 2002, Pages 129~140
To succeed in ERP construction, the purpose of ERP setup must be completed. To accomplish this end, it is required to analysis business process completely and make a plan in detail. For ERP providers', they must support a characterized ERP construction methodology and lower the construction cost by improving an ERP package by making it easy to customize. But, because imported EHP products that are supplied currently are designed for the standard and the rationality, they have a limit to support custom processes of domestic companies. On the contrary, ERP products by domestic companies are unable to support a consistent methodology of constructing ERP system. This is a main reason why much time and costs are consumed than that of an original plan. For solving the problems, ERP packages should provide a consistent process modeling methodology and a modeling tool which can support this methodology. Furthermore, customizing cost must be lowered by implementing reusable components from the process models. This Paper describes a component-based ERP Package system which has peculiar modeling tools and development tools. We describe the modeling methodology and the business component definition of the ERP system. Finally, we describe its customizing process based on these process designs and business components.

Data dictionary is a collection of meta-data, which describes data produced and consumed while performing business processes. Data dictionary is an essential element for business process standardization and automation, and has a fundamental role in ERP application management and customization. Also, data dictionary facilitates B2B processes by enabling painless integration of business processes between various enterprises. We implemented data dictionary support in SEA＋, a component- based scalable ERP system developed in ETRI, and found out that it's a plausible feature of business information system. We discovered that data dictionary promotes semantic, not syntactic, data management, which can make it possible to leverage viability of the tool in the coming age of more meta-data oriented computing world. We envision that business data dictionary is a firm foundation of adapting business knowledge, applications and processes into the semantic web based enterprise infra-structure.
XML Application Design Methodology using Model of UML Class
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 1, 2002, Pages 153~166
Nowadays an information exchange on Bn such as B2B electronic commerce is spreading. Therefore the systematic and stable management mechanism for storing the exchanged information is needed. For this goal there are many research activities for connection between XML application and relational database. But because XML data have hierarchical structures and relational database can store only flat-structured data, we need to store XML data in object-relational database that support hierarchical structure. Accordingly the modeling methodology for storing XML data in object-relational database is needed. In order to build good quality application systems, modeling is an important first step. In 1997, the OMG adopted the UML as its standard modeling language. Since industry has warmly embraced UML its popularity should become more important in the future. So a design methodology based on UML is need to develop efficiently XML applications. In this paper, we propose a unified design methodology for In applications based on object-relational database using In. To this goal, first we introduce a XML modeling methodology to design W3C XML schema using UML and second we propose data modeling methodology for object-relational database schema to store efficiently XML data in object-relational databases.
Development and Evaluation of Key Recovery System for Secure Recovery of Cryptographic Files in PC
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 1, 2002, Pages 167~186
The encryption of a file on a PC before saving can maintain security of the file. However, if the key for the encrypted file is lost or damaged, the encrypted file can not be decrypted, resulting in serious economical loss to the user or the user group. In order to minimize the economical loss a secure and reliable key recovery technology is required. Presented in this paper is the development and evaluation of PKRS (PC based Key Recovery System) which supports encryption and decryption of file and recovery of the encrypted file in emergency. The encapsulating method, which attaches key recovery information to encrypted file, is applied to the PKRS. In addition, the PKRS is developed and evaluated according to the requirements of Requirements for Key Recovery Products proposed by NIST and requirements of Common Criteria 2.0 to prove the safety and reliability of the information security system. This system is applicable to a PC and can be further extended to internet or intranet environment information system where in encryption and recovery of file is possible.

Development of an e-Catalog Authoring Tool Using SMIL
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 1, 2002, Pages 207~223
The population of consumers who purchase goods through electronic commerce(EC) is increasing due In the advance of Internet. They can purchase goods freely without time and space restriction and can have variety of choices of goods. Now most of e-Catalogs rely on the simple texts or images to present information on goods. As such, there is limitation in describing goods in detail, which might not make consumers interested in those goods. To solve the problem, more advanced e-Catalogs are demanded compared with the existing ones, requiring research on the e-Catalog authoring techniques that utilize dynamic multimedia data such as audios or videos in addition to the conventional texts and images. In this paper, we describe development of an e-Catalog authoring tnol that is based on SMIL(Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) which is one of XML applications.
