Genuine guarantee system for true korean ginseng
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 2, 2002, Pages 1~19
Lately, the Korean ginseng was confronted with the sale crisis in world markets from the various circumstance. One of important difficulties is overspreading of Korean ginseng imitative in foreign markets. In Korean markets also, chinese ginseng was imported illegally and manufactured as Korean ginseng, which was resulted in the damage of Korean ginseng brand. The most essential problem is misunderstanding of Korean ginseng's information in the foreigner. In this paper, we developed a genuine guarantee system to identify the true Korean ginseng through internet and geographic cording system of Korean ginseng products. This system can be applied to the enforcement of Korean ginseng sale to international markets.
A Study on eDocument Management Using Professional Terminologies
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 2, 2002, Pages 21~38
Document retrieval (DR) has been a serious issue for long in the field of Office Information Management. Nowadays, our daily work is becoming heavily dependent on the usage of information collected from the internet, and the DR methods on the Web has become an important issue which is studied more than any other topic by many researchers. The main purpose of this study is to develop a model to manage business documents by integrating three major methodologies used in the field of electronic library and information retrieval: Metadata, Thesaurus, and Index/Reversed Index. In addition, we have added a new concept of eDocument, which consists of metadata about unit documents and/or unit document themselves. eDocument is introduced as a way to utilize existing document sources. The core concepts and structures of the model were introduced, and the architecture of the eDocument management system has been proposed. Test (simulation) result of the model and the direction for the future studies were also mentioned.
A Study on the methodology of applying and activating the Construction Drawing Information Exchange Standard(STEP) by CALS/EC
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 2, 2002, Pages 39~53
In the Korean domestic construction field, there are a lot of problems related to construction information exchange and sharing owing to the absence of construction drawing information exchange standard. To remedy the aforementioned inefficiency effectively, it is necessary to apply the STEP standard which is known as an international standard for achieving the establishment of Construction CALS. This study focus on suggesting a methodology to activate the STEP based construction drawing information exchange standard to the current construction drawing information exchanging and sharing practice. In this paper, the domestic and foreign standardization projects related to the construction drawing information have been investigated and analyzed. In addition, a methodology of applying and activating the STEP standard has been suggested. Finally, a verification and certification methodology for applying the CALS/EC construction drawing information exchange standard(STEP) have been suggested.
Automatic Generation of Reserve Prices and Bid Prices for a Group Buying System
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 2, 2002, Pages 55~68
Internet group buying systems have been widely used recently. In those systems, because the reserve price is provided by the buyer, the success rate can be decreased if the reserve price is set too low compared with the normal price. Otherwise, an unsuitable successful bid can be made if the reserve price is set too high based on inaccurate information. Likewise, the seller's providing too high a bid price can deteriorate his/her own successful bid rate, whereas a successful bid with too low a price may make no profit in the sale. Therefore, pricing agents that recommend adequate prices based on the past buying and selling history data can be helpful. In this paper, we propose two kinds of agents. One suggests reserve prices to buyers based on the past buying history database of the system. The other recommends bid prices to a seller based on the past bidding history data of the company using the cost accounting theory. Through performance experiments, we show that the successful bid rate can increase by preventing buyers from making unreasonable reserve prices. Also, we show that, for the seller, the rate of successful bids with appropriate profits can increase. Using the pricing agents, we design and implement an XML-based group buying system.
Design and Implementation of an Internet Bidding System Based on XML
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 2, 2002, Pages 69~81
The problem of the previous proprietary e-business systems is that they are not built upon well defined standards, which causes difficulties in extension of the system and interoperation among them. Therefore, a new e-business standard, ebXML, and related XML standards such as SOAP and XML Signature have been recommended for e-business systems. In this paper, as an application of the new XML standards, we design and implement a new internet bidding system. We use XML Schema for defining the document structure of the bidding system. DOM is used for structure search and XSL is used to represent styles. We use SOAP to handle distributed objects and XML Signature to provide data integrity. Due to the adoption of e-business standards, the developed system has advantages in interoperability and extensibility compared to previous systems.
Developing of XML Messaging System for efficiently e-Procurement
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 2, 2002, Pages 83~95
Because XML is a W3C standard and has characteristics like platform-independent, it has a critical role in e-commerce. Business rules and procedures should be standardized for efficient B2B integration. But a lot of companies has its own XML documents instead of standard documents. Therefore many organizations try to make standards for e-commerce based on framework. In this paper, n messaging system is designed and implemented. Client request service in a XML and server return response in XML in this system. So we can more easily and efficiently build e-Procurement system based on this XML messaging system.
Development of I-business Curriculum Using Market-Oriented Approach
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 2, 2002, Pages 97~111
E-business curriculum needs to be developed reflecting requirements of the industry which involve a close relation with a job performed in the field, and a professional knowledge and an expert skill. In this paper, we present a method based on a market-oriented approach for developing an I-business curriculum. For the purpose, we analyze the opinion data resulting from the surveyed opinions of respondents working for I-business companies and evaluate the importance of each course being involved in the curriculum with respect to the job classification (e.g., Web planner, Web master, Web programmer, Web marketer, Web designer, Web PD), and then, complete a flow diagram considering precedence and relative difficulty among the selected courses. The E-business curriculum developed by the proposed method is useful to provide guidelines for determining courses required toward a desired job and for making a partial amendment of the curriculum.
The Study on Strategic Coalition Modeling using Social Network Analysis for B2B Activation in Public Oriented e-Marketplace -An Application of Public Parts of Cybercity Reference Model-
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 2, 2002, Pages 113~128
This paper proposes a public oriented e-Marketplace that induces strategic coalition using database in which detail information about each firm is contained. A public oriented e-Marketplace links each firm through the type of Internet business model and constructs a trading community. We introduce a design methodology of public oriented e-Marketplace called as social network analysis. Social network analysis helps each firm's network easily visualized and completely modeled. Additionally, this paper tries to analyze the relationship among the level of competition, potential of strategic coalition, and financial performance. We demonstrate the firm to easily accept various strategic coalitions can make higher financial performance under the more competitive condition. This implies that strategic coalition through public oriented e-Marketplace provide the each firm with various opportunities.

The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 2, 2002, Pages 129~141
This paper deals with the collaborative procurement process in a two-echelon supply chain that a manufacturing company and a contractor are connected through the information system. The real time information about inventory and production processing becomes available through this information system. We raise two issues related to the collaborative procurement process. First, we propose a VMI(Vendor-Managed Inventory) type of the procurement policy which focuses on the cost minimization for the total supply chain rather than individual companies. Second, based on the simulation study, we demonstrate that a collaborative procurement process is more cost-effective over classical procurement processes such as (Q, r). The result obtained in this paper can be applied to the quantitative evaluation of the cost saving effect when companies build the information sharing based, collaborative procurement system.
Development of a Component-Based Distributed Supply Chain Planning System
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 2, 2002, Pages 143~156
The objective of supply chain planning is to satisfy the requirements for minimizing inventory costs, transportation costs, and lead times throughout the supply, production and distribution stage dispersed geographically. Therefore, the supply chain planning system should have functionalities to resolve complex optimization problems that have characteristics of multi-stage and multi-product. Ant the system should also support collaborative decision making among distributed business partners. In this study, we proposed a distributed architecture for the supply chain planning system. To do this, we analyzed functional requirements by using IDEF-0(ICAM Definition-0) methodology, defined required components, and designed each component by using object-oriented methodology. We implemented a prototype system based on CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) to show that the proposed distributed architecture based on component technology is feasible and can solve supply chain planning problem collaboratively.
The Design & Analysis of Time-Stamp Protocol with H-Binary Tree
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 2, 2002, Pages 157~171
We want to find a timestamping method which improves efficient performance and have high-level security to send secured messages in the digital signature and the law of e-commerces. Our paper shows a H-binary tree of time stamp to use a time stamp protocol with high security and performance in the packets of sending messages. We implement and analyze the protocols, show to compare with previous RSA methods. Our proposed protocol has O(log n) time complexity and high-performance.
A Case Study on Applying Function Point Analysis Technique to Measure the Size of Software Systems based on UML
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 7, issue 2, 2002, Pages 173~190
Over the past decade, numerous software managers and engineers have been concerned with measuring the size and complexity of software systems. Function point analysis technique is one of the most popular software sizing techniques. A reasonable software development plan through cost and time estimation should be a prerequisite for the successful project at the beginning stage of the project. It is generally known that software size measurement is useful for this kind of estimation and the function point analysis technique would be more effective than the others. However, it is difficult to apply the technique to object-oriented methodology widely used in the software industry. Thus, the purpose of this study is to present a case study on how to apply function point analysis technique to sizing of the software systems based on UML. The results of this study can be useful to managers and engineers.
